    Performs well.
Feels a little on the cheap side, as plastic casing lets it down, should have use metal.
    Easy to use.
    Has a variety of functions.
Comes with a detailed instruction booklet.
Over, it’s a decent quality calculator in it’s performance.

My son’s math test is coming up and he needs a calculator to help him with the test, but since the previous computer was too old, I decided to give my son a new calculator. When I received this calcultor, my son was very excited. This calculator is very advanced. It can calculate some very complicated calculation problems, which is very convenient. And he has a panel where you can write, you can calculate or memorize some answers on it. I think it is very easy to use. He can put the two screens together, which is very convenient to put in your pocket. My son likes it very much. I am very satisfied with this item.

The Newyes Scientific Calculator and writing tablet comes in a smart and sturdy heavy duty card box that is suitable for gifting.

Inside the box are the calculator and a very detailed user;s guide – and you’ll need it if you want to utilise all of the many functions of this calculator, as it has a wealth of features for mathematical and scientific calculation.

There’s a writing pad on the inside of the cover, with a stylus cunningly concealed in one corner of the case. Unfortunately all of the instructions seem to be about the calculator, I could find nothing on how the writing pad functions. I can’t find any way to erase it other than turning the calculator off – which is not much use if one is making notes in conjunction with using the calculator.

Another issue I had was the legibility of the lettering for the alternative key functions above the keys; they are in very small pale red lettering on a curiously patterned black fascia. This patterning is textured and the incised lines catch the light, thus adding to the difficulty of reading the lettering.

The calculator does have an impressive abundance of calculating options and features but the plastic case feels lightweight and not really on a par with the abilities of the device.

I think it would be wonderful for a school pupil or student, but I think a professional would want something with a little more robustness.

I am not a scientist, everything above simple causes a sense of distress (and I’m only half-joking) and I was particularly weary demonstrating this object to the younger generation. Luckily it was not brightly coloured and did not attract much attention, so I was able to hide it away before the uncomfortable questions started.
As per its performance for this reviewer – I was happy with it. It told me what I wanted to know (though I did not ask much) and it did not lie, I have double-checked with other sources. It seems to be a smart-looking and smart-acting device that is a must for a student or a professional who has to do some calculations on the go, and it looks great, I have to mention that. A proper little device. It is not minuscule, which only adds to its value – fewer mishaps and more reliability with electronic things of this size. It has a command of plenty of operations and I am certain (unless you are into totally advanced things and metaphysics) it will be super handy for someone at university doing a science degree or advanced maths.
I am liking the idea of having it to hand. Not being a scientist is not in itself a denial of trying, so this thing has a very special place in our desk.

It’s a well-made calculator that comes with many functions, a total of 349 functions.
It includes polar-rectangular conversions, complex number calculations, etc.
I like this idea of a calculator with an LCD notepad that comes with a pen too.
I can take notes while working.
The calculator is solar and battery operated and has soft, comfortable keys.
However, if I mistyped an equation, I have to delete the whole thing.

I got this engineering calculator for my daughter who’s about to start engineering at a maritime college. It’s perfect for what she needs and I like the writing tablet which is easy to erase with a little button at the top.
I couldn’t find a pen to go with the screen so you’d probably need one to avoid damaging it.
I don’t have any issues with this at all and for the price I’d recommend it.

    Good engineering calculato

This is a fantastic caluclator. It was delivered quickly and in good quality packaging. I like the fact you can write on the case cover on it, and it has a lot of functions and different buttons to use. It is a lot better than others I have seen and it works really well. Good value for money and I highly recommend it.

perfect calculator for everyone really. From a student to a person who needs to do some engineering calculations fast at work ( someone like me ) . I really liked the addition of Notepad which makes sometimes everything much easier. As you can write something you wouldn’t forget to add later on etc. And everything can be erased just with the button press too.
It has a function modes. Which I think are more targeted to students as mostly t his kind of calculations are done in schools etc. So for them, it would be extremely useful and helpful.
The calculator itself feels good quality and is a good size. So it will not take up too much space. As well it has a small charging solar panel which will make the battery last way longer than just on its own. Which is really not the most important but nice little addition.
Overall good calculator and worth the price really. Especially for the students who need to do calculations in more complex math and physics.

NEWYES Engineering Scientific Calculator with Writing Tablet, Upgraded 991MS, with Solar Battery, 349 Functions, Professional Portable Foldable Calculator Notepad for Students, Teacher, Engineer. This is a brilliant Calculator. You have a mini notepad with it. Plus lots of features. Absolute bargain.

    Definitely recommend.

This science calculator works in tandem with a separate LCD writing tablet, allowing pupils to write while they calculate.

The NEWYES Engineering Scientific Calculator is a 6.5-inch writing tablet with a pen included, allowing you to write notes while calculating. You can delete the notes by using the delete button, or you can lock it to save it. The calculator has premium plastic keys which are more sensitive and precise compared to silicone keys.

I must say the genal build and structure of this calculator is fantastic. There are a lot of features for the price, and it’s easy to use, store and carry.

All in all, this is ideal for students, teachers or engineers and is a good value for money.

The size is perfect for the high school student to school or engineering go on the site. I am quite happy with the design with the note area. I think it is really smart concept. However, it is not easy to read. I don’t know it is about the colour or anything. At the LCD panel, I find that it could show out the calculation process. That is good function when you are using. It is also dual powered, that mean it can save energy by use solar energy. The price also is good value for money. I think it is a nice gift for secondary students.

The calculator is very versatile and can be used for children or even math majors. It contains more operations than your basic scientific calculator, including integrals, derivatives, statistics and complex number calculations.

The manual it comes with is easy to read so the calculator is easy to navigate. It is also very handy to have the writing side, so you can do further calculations. However if a mistake was to be made, you can only delete the whole screen, so a small mistake may cause you to re-write your calculations from the beginning. Despite it having the writing side, the calculator is still very light and it can close like a book so it’s compact and easy to carry. Unfortunately the calculator does not open all the way, so if you are not writing and only using the calculator, it is difficult to use both thumbs to type in your calculations. It is also dual powered, so you can save energy by use solar energy.

Hope you found my review useful.

I’m showing my age when I say it was log tables, slide rules and long division through school and my first 15 years of work. Calculators made life much easier after that!

This is a full scientific calculator that has so many functions it comes with a 32 page operating manual to explain its use. It has a battery, but has a solar panel to extend its life.
The keys are good size with a positive feel. The screen is easy to read.

A useful extra is the “writing pad” on the RH side. There is a built in stylus to write with, it has an erase button to clear the screen.

It folds up and fits nicely in your pocket.

Priced around 15 at the time of this Amazon Vine review (thanks to a 30% off voucher), you get a lot for your money with this small and portable scientific calculator with writing tablet. I opted to get this for my engineer brother who requires a scientific calculator, as I only ever need to use a basic or standard calculator as I don’t require complicated scientific calculations in my work or everyday life.

I do agree with another reviewer that I needed to refer to the listing on Amazon.co.uk to better understand how to use the calculator, although it does come with a fairly comprehensive user guide but I personally don’t find it that user friendly, although perhaps someone who regularly uses scientific calculators might do so. Also as another reviewers has pointed out, the calculator and tablet is not particularly intuitive and it took me a while to work out how to use the tablet and even how to switch off the calculator!

This is a dual power calculator and tablet. It has pre-installed a button battery (LR44) and has a solar strip so can be powered by the sun. You would need a small Philips screwdriver (not supplied) to replace the battery.

This seems very good value for money and seems pretty robust and sturdy (although some care would obviously need to be taken). I am pleased with this product and am happy to recommend at the current price point.

I really like his idea of combining a calculator with an LCD notepad, the main screen is powered by solar where as the LCD requires a button cell that’s included. The calculator has all the buttons you find on a standard scientific calculator and the LCD doubles as a cover that closes to put away neatly when you no longer require it.

My son is 12 years old and is relatively good at mathematics so I decided that this would be a nice little upgrade from his standard scientific calculator. He’s pleased with it, not least because of the functionality but remember he’s a 12 year old, this has an LCD that can be instantly cleared with the touch of a button.

I am thoroughly convinced that in the short term he will probably use this screen to draw not so useful things that tweens find funny but in the long term I am hoping that he will start to use this to help him working out math problems. Regardless of what he decides to draw on this, he can clear the screen repeatedly to start on his next masterpiece… I don’t currently know how long the batteries last in these LCD displays but I had a much bigger one for a toddler and after 2 months of moderate use the battery is still going strong. This is a much smaller display and the same battery so I guess it should last longer.

It does have a lot of functions and perhaps too many but the company provide a detailed instruction manual for this precise reason so that is also in my sons backpack with the calculator.

Overall I haven’t found any issues with this calculator in my testing and I’ll admit this is perhaps the best one I have used because of its nifty little e-writer screen. I would say this is more than deserving of the 5 star rating given its functionality and value for money. There are others I have seen for slightly cheaper but in my opinion this is better looking and has more functionality with the majority of cheaper ones being standard 12 key calculators.

Works well but the keys are a little to small for me and it is rather fiddley to use

Good design but does not look very robust.

Much attention required when pressing keys as commands are not accepted across all the surface area of the keys. Press in the wrong spot and no instruction is recognized. Writing pad performs as advertised and visibility is quite good without the need for direct lighting or angle specific viewing. The stylus is neatly stored in and flush to the side of the case. It is smartly secured by magnet and ridged for effortless removal.

Absolutely fantastic scientific calculator, perfect for high-school students or for using it during your college/university years. My son is just about to do his GCSEs and this is just perfect for the occasion as it includes every function needed for GCSE maths. It comes with a handy instruction leaflet and walks you through on how-to-do things. This foldable calculator comes with a 6.5 inch writing tablet and a pen, looks really cool as you can take notes, which is a great, practical idea. It is modern and much better looking than our current scientific calculator. The buttons are easy to press, and they do not get stuck. I only use it for simple calculations, but my son does very difficult, complex calculations. It is a great value for money. So far it works well. Good item!

    Awesome calculato

i dabbled with a few different calculators and they all went back. either poor quality or overly complex to use.

this however is the one to get. excellent build quality and a superb price. so many features for the price and very straight forward to use.

    i can’t recommend enough.
