This is the perfect power supply for indoor LED strip lighting, or, as in my application, a home automation LED controller. The first step in my project was to verify the voltage of all the components, and all being 24 volts, this supply was a perfect match. This also meant that the LEDs were not being under-driven, so the brightness shone to full and the dimming capability of the controller was maximised. Note that the DC plug’s polarity is inner positive (+) and outer negative (-).
The 2A output of the supply was more than sufficient to drive the LEDs that I have prepared, and the power cord was a good length at 1.5m to reach the power outlet. The power supply has CE certification for reassurance as well as safety. It is not a small device by any means and has some great safety features such as over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit protection. If I make a mistake in my soldering project, I am protected.
The power supply is suitable for a wide range of applications, including my aforesaid 24V LED strip lights but also security cameras, wireless routers, and audio/video equipment, making it a versatile choice. The total wattage for LED strip lights should not exceed 48W, which may restrict use for larger setups, but larger powered versions are also available.
I bought this to power a strip of 24V COB lights as I had been using a large switching adapter. This looks elegant, works perfectly and the cable reached from the wall plug to the lights in my Hallowe’en window display.
