Easy enough to install if you know what you’re doing and I find the motion sensor is very good.
Brightness is very food for what they are… I have two mounted on the wall of my drive. They’re not gonna light up Blackpool but for my needs are fit for purpose.

This is lovely, because it opens from the bottom it is tricky to fit on your own without dropping the screws! don’t understand complaints about rust as it is aluminium .Just bought another one.

As others have said it’s a great light motion sensor works well for its size but the coating on the light corrodes within a year of use had to paint it otherwise it’s good. I first thought it was made of plastic as it feels plasticity but it’s some sort of alloy under the coating that reacts with weather. Would buy again at the right price.

Works well. A lot of adjustment available for motion detection and hours that it’s in use. Lightweight makes it easier to install. The “glass” is quite flimsy plastic though so I’m hoping it will last and not discolour.
Bought led bulb to go with it which is nice and bright and effective.

This porch light is a bargain. The motion detection is very good. The brightness of the bulb is good but that will depend on the watt you choose. We would definitely recommend.

Nicely made and easy enough to install. I would say that although I was expecting fittings to be supplied like plugs for the screws in the wall these were not provided in the package.

When it arrived, everything was in the box including instructions. A tip when fitting make a note of the wiring and then disconnect the lamp unit from the PIR base unit. Mount the base unit onto the wall first and them attach the lamp. Much easier. But easy to install. The PIR is a bit sensitive and does go off them there’s no body there. But apart from that Spot o

    Very nice

After reading the reviews I thought this might be tricky to install but it was done 5 mins and trust me I’m no sparky! Had a few issues setting the darkness for when it comes on at night but I found turning the dial with the sunlight on it all the way anti clockwise as a good start then I can adjust it back to suit otherwise it comes on during daylight hours when triggered. There were no instructions for this but for the price you can’t really moan. All in all very impressed.

It wou benefit from having a adjustable motion censor. It comes on any time a car goes up the road even though there is a good distance from road to light. It would also be better if it had daylight censor so it doesn’t go on and off all day long.

Installation carried out by electrician to existing wiring. Didn’t take long so easy to install. Used the bulb that came with it. That provides enough light but a bit more would be good. Will be investing in a better bulb for future use, perhaps something that gives off clear white light.

Really impressed with the look and quality of this item. When buying for someone else I usually buy something ‘branded’ especially if it is electric and to be fit outdoors but the cost of this was very reasonable indeed. Fitted for mother in law to replace a similar but a lot older product. Really simple to install and it looks great. Didn’t need any PIR adjustment as was fine out of the box. Note it doesn’t come with a bulb, but put an LED bulb in it and it will be super cheap to run.

Very good, looks good and easy to install, if I was to criticise it’s that the motion detection is a bit too sensitive, I’ve had to cover part of the sensor with tape, but I can live with that!

Good Product does what it says on the packaging but the plastic back plate that you attach to the wall
is easily broken if you over tighten the screws , would be better served to the consumer as tin or metal
    so no chance of breaking

I’ve now bought 3 more of these after initially buying 2. They are stylish, appear well made and look like they will last for a long while. They are quite lightweight metal alloy but seem quite strong enough. Wiring up is a little fiddly but that’s because they are medium sized – if you are at all uncertain then get an electrician to wire up since it’s important to be totally safe.

loses a star because of the nuts that hold the lid onto the body are so small and theres so little thread on the screws that its too fiddly and difficult to grip the things and get them to bite onto the screwed thread that’s sticking up through the flanges

Fairly straight forward installation, didn’t cause any problems for the electrician. Unfortunately it was only after it had been fitted that it became apparent the motion sensor didn’t work. It wasn’t worth the money to pay the electrician to identify the fault.

I bought two of these. Quickly fitted and give lots of light (I use a cylinder-shaped LED). Whilst fitting one the back-plate cracked – it should be made of thicker plastic. That said, I would buy them again. Easy to change bulbs but beware of dropping the little bolts down the decking gaps…

These are great little lights. I’ve had one for a year now and bought 6 more to replace the other outside lights around the house. They are easy to install (just the standard 3 wires into a connecting block) and are good value for money. They are easy to keep clean and look smart as well.

Gives off a good light, no built in motion detector, so no stars for that. Separate motion detector all ready in place so chose lamp without detector, easy to fit, even matched up with raw plugs from old lamps so an easy fit.

Looks classic and modern which is exactly what I wanted. My uncle fitted for me but he seemed to do it with ease. It does pick up movement within approximately a 1-2 metre distance which is more than sufficient. If your door is close to a path just turn the light sensor down so the light doesn’t stay on as long. (see other peoples reviews with picture, it helped me!)
Seems good quality and well built. Water rolls off so unless the birds wreck it I imagine it’ll last for years to come

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLight looks good and motion detection seems ok but will only really find out when nights are darker.

Bolts to hold lamp to wall plate are “free floating” so it can be frustrating when trying to mount plate to back plate. I solved this by using a piece of tape at the back of each mounting bolt to prevent the bolt from moving back into the back plate.

My only reservation is that the motion detector turns the light on during the daylight. There is no way to alter this setting or the length of time the light stays on for. However if the light is switched on during the evening it works absolutely fine.

Be careful for the sensor wiring, initially due to the color of the wire I mixed up the Live wire for sensor and the light did not work but it was not too long before I figured that out and works absolutely fine now..!!

Have been looking for outside lights to replace a couple of stainless steel units that had rusted badly (very poor). These units are made from aluminium so there should be no rust. They look great, classical shape but modern at the same time. Relatively easy to fit but it would have been easier still if the manufacturer had drilled out the two holes through the plastic base plate so you can put screws into the wall. The PIR sensor can be adjusted for time and light level.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUsed to light up the driveway. Mounted just by the front door.
Adjustable on the sides of the pir unit via a small screwdriver for time and light activation. Requires an e27 bulb. I used a spare led one and works flawlessly. 6w did the job.
Only qualm is the sensor needs to have some form of adjustment as it’s range is a little excessive. There’s at least 15m from the mounting point to the road and it manages to get triggered by every car! May require some discrete masking tape or similar.

We started to paint our shed during the summer to a beach style and was looking for a lamp to fit that theme and this dose the job. Easy to fit but there should have been some spare cable to help go through the wall, you have to fit your own hence 4 stars. We fitted an Alexa enabled bulb and can now set to to come on at certain times or change the colour, very effective against the white.
Update: 5/12: seal has failed causing fuse to blow, not sure if any damage to bulb, awaiting seller response.

A little fiddly with the wires and the internal rear rubber grommet, for the wires to come into the lamp, kept on coming out. Also as somebody else mentioned, the 2 bolts to hold the lamp front on are a little too short…this made it very fiddly and I was doing this above grass so was dreading the retention washer and bolt were going to fall into the grass while trying to get them on literally 2-3 mm of thread!! In the end I put a spoon handle behind the lamp and behind the bolt to push as much thread out as possible…that gave me an extra few millimetres. All in all a nice looking lamp though

This light has been pretty good over the winter nights after returning from work. It lights up as something passes pavement so I believe would help deter unwanted guests. Only stays lit a short while if nothing keeps it activated so shouldn’t bother surrounding neighbours. And I really like the white. Brother had a few issues installing it due to design. But it still went up quick enough. Because you need to put bulb in from top, some may need a stool to stand on if light placed higher than reach.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersQuite simple, straightforward installation. Product is great for the price.
With regards to the motion sensor it has quite long range and it is not adjustable(you can’t tilt it or move it sideways), so it’s not ideal for short driveways as pedestrians and passing vehicles are switching the lamp on.
But it should serve you well for long driveway or garden.
Also wall fittings are not included.

Does what it sets out to do, as mentioned by others the holding screws are very short and a pain to do up, also no screws to put in to the wall, not a big issue, but would have expected a company such as Philips to supply these.

Comes on when required with adjustments for light allowances and timers. Simple swap out with my old light took about 20 minutes in total. Grabbed from Amazon Warehouse for 10 less for what seems a return with a damaged box.

Good quality light fixing. Overall very pleased with the end result but it’s worth mentioning that mine did not come with any wall plugs or masonry screws and the design assumes the power cable is coming through the wall directly behind the light. Fortunately because it is made from aluminium 10 minutes with a file is all it takes to modify the case to allow the power lead to come in from the side.

Using with a Philips hue white bulb and it’s looking the part and does the job. Because our’s is installed under the eves of the property I can’t comment on it’s water proof properties.

Excellent value for money. Solid construction. Bright light for outdoor use. I bought this light for use on my deck in winter when the solar lights have gone. Very effective without blinding. looks great on the wall in the daytime too the white colour ties in with the PVC window frame & gutters. Uses a normal 40 watt led bulb so energy efficient too. Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGood quality for the price but as others have said it needs a couple of tricks to fit it. I suggest a bit of blu tack behind the hex head screws that protrude from the back plate as they are a couple of mm short and there is nothing to stop them pushing back in when you come to fit the lamp to the back plate. Also try and cut wires to length as the wiring box is not the most generous. I made a template from paper to fit the back plate as there isn’t a massive amount of adjustment in the back plate and you need the two protruding acres to be horizontally set or the lamp will not hang vertically. Otherwise it was Ok to fit together and they look pretty good when up. By the way the back plate can be fitted either way up depending on how the wiring protrudes from the wall despite it having an arrow saying UP in one direction.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersLooks good and is reasonably well built. A couple of things to be aware of though… Firstly, the wiring space is extremely tight – just L & N terminals – no parking terminal for PE (yes I know it’s double insulated but UK wiring regs require an earth to be run to and terminated in the fitting all the same). You have about the space of a couple of thimbles below the lampholder to get in your wiring and an extra earth terminal. Secondly one of the cover fixing screws goes vertically down into the top (centre rear) – so make sure you’ve got at least a screwdriver length’s clearance above the fitting to any projection from the wall above it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI really like these outdoor wall lights and specifically bought Philips as I trust the brand.

Installation is a breeze and one thing that worth noting is that they have built in support for pass through which is great. It means I have a motion sensor one and connected to the same switch an non-motion sensor one. Triggering the sensor then switches both lights on which is superb.

Build quality is good and mostly metal and to be honest having looked around these came in cheaper than ones at a certain DIY chain and in my opinion are better. They take E27 bulbs and I bought some Philips 1000lm LED bulbs which work really well. What would also look nice in these are the filament style led bulbs.

You can control the sensitivity of the air and the duration of the light easily.

Overall a superb and reasonably priced outdoor light which looks great.

Because this is resin it will never rust, and still looks great after 18 months. I bought a daylight sensing LED bulb, which works great, so it comes on in the evening to light my way after work.

Spent a while looking for a replacement for a light that was nearly 20 years old. I had 2 requirements 1 it must support low energy bulbs (the old one couldn’t) and have a sensor that could look down as well as out as the light is about 8- 10ft from the ground.

This was quite simple to fit (I removed the back box from the light taking a note where the wires were, then fitted that to the wall I then reconnected the light before fixing it to the back.

All in all it took about 30 minutes to fit and test.

Excellent product from top brand manufacturer. PIR is very good and adjustable for time and light level. Uses E27 ES bulbs. I use LED so very low power consumption. Things to note – Wire has to come from rear so its difficult or almost impossible to have it coming from side say in the case of external wiring coming from the soffit. One minor problem is the very small nuts securing the unit. The bolts are barely long enough when the wiring is installed and the tiny nuts are so easy to jump off and lose. I was lucky to find mine but I wish the maker had put one or two spares for comfort. Overall very attractive and well built option. I bought three matching ones for my home.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSmart looking light. Metal body, clear plastic ‘glass’. A bit fiddly to put up. If on your own I suggest that you dismantle the lamp indoors (over a table) to remove the top and then the plastic ‘glass’ – this makes that part lighter and easier to manage when connecting. Detach the lamp from the back plate – there are small washers behind the thumb nuts – easy to lose. The instructions are good except that the wiring diagram is in black and white so it is not easy to distinguish between the brown live wire from the mains live feed to the PIR unit and the black wire from the PIR unit to the lamp. If you get this the wrong way round your light will not work. If you get it right your light will work, however, be aware that the light will initially go on once connected to power even if it is broad daylight. Don’t be fooled into thinking something is wrong and the lamp is always on. I suggest making sure that the light sensor adjustment (on side of PIR) is set to night and then when the lamp initially comes on leave it several minutes to see that it does go off. Take care not to drop the fiddly screws, nuts and washers when you put the lamp back together again.

This is an excellent outdoor light which uses mains electricity. It looks as if it cost much more than it did. I am delighted with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood lights for the price, I got 2 of them, 2 minor faults to be aware of 1. No wall fixing screws supplied. 2. A pain to change the bulb as you have to remove the top which has 3 screws & was not easy to put in place as screw holes were difficult to line up. On 1 of them I could only get one screw back in place.

Good item for looks, but a bit of a fiddle to put up, very limited space for cables, and putting the two nuts on the front
to hold the unit onto the base is difficult. Once installed looks nice and the light distribution is good. Can be used with an
E27 screw LED light sensitive bulb (very economical to run).

This is a quality lamp. I was very impressed as It is aluminium so very sturdy with good quality finish white paint. The fitting is straight forward as I had a go having never done it before and was replacing an existing (rubbishy) one. It is a little fiddly with the retaining screws for the lantern part and I wished that I had taken the advice of the electrician review and put some tape over the back to keep the screw in place. It looks smashing I love it. Would recommend this no problem as can’t see anybody being disappointed with it.

Looked at quite a few outdoor lamps, some very expensive but decide to give this one a go and very happy I did. Looks good, fits well and a good price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNice size down lighter, well designed, however the screw length is fiddly and, in my case the washer fell to the floor and wasn’t found, If I would give a tip it would be to dab a small bit of vasolene on the washer to hold it in place before you screw the hexagonal nut …..I did this on the 2nd fix….. The dome is plastic, but is adequate, I added a Phillips led light and I’m very pleased with this purchase.

So I have read the other reviews, but choose to still buy one.
Yes the part that screws to the wall is plastic. But that is then covered by the light and you no longer see it.
The sensor works well. It’s not supper bright but there is more than enough light to find your keys and open a door.
The only changes I would make is the underside of the top I would have it reflective. But I’m happy with the look and how it works
Edit. It’s 2022 and still working with same bulb!

Very good light with great arc of sensor pickup, much better than our last one which was much bigger but shed less light.
easy to adjust sensitivity and looks very stylish.
i have found that it doesn’t pick up unwanted distant movement, but i do have it low on wall and have 5 foot fence.
keep an eye on price i paid 16.95 and 2 days later it was 14.44. Worth it though so ok.

I actually bought the wrong one without the sensor but they exchanged it for this one which was pretty good of them.

I found the instructions very useful and this is coming from someone who never touches electrics.

You can adjust the sensor from basically super sensitive to not very which equates to nearly within touching distance of the light. I set mine somewhere in between so that when I come down my path it comes on automatically.

It’s build quality is pretty good too plus you have the luxury of selecting white or black.

Not much else to say other than its been working fine for the few weeks that it’s been connected.

Our new front door light. Illuminates the path down to the door, the sensor triggers at the end of the path and there is plenty of light by the front door to fumble with keys. Construction appears to be good quality, the mounting and casing seem to be protected from the weather but I’ll report back after the winter. A bit of care is required when cleaning as it isn’t glass but a plastic material. At this price it’s a good compromise as I’m not going to worry about the cost when replacing it, unlike some more expensive ones that have decayed faster than I’d have liked. You can adjust the timings allowing us to avoid burning light when not required.

I do like it, it looks great, but its a shame you can’t adjust the angle that the PIR works at. It’s been installed at a height where nobody will walk into it, but the resulting angle the sensor is at, means that every passing car sets it off. It does only go off for a second though, and I only have it on in the early morning and late evening, for a few hours at a time, so not too much trouble.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis arrived on time and was easy to install as I was simply replacing an old lamp fitting by our front door. It is of good quality, and is great value for money. Looks more modern than our traditional ‘lantern’ type fitting. The connection to the house electrics is through a hole in the bottom of the back plate and is concealed from view by a small plastic cover, just be careful you don’t lose the two very small screws that hold this in place – it is a bit fiddly. Fixing to the wall just required drilling two holes into the brickwork – no problem.

What a refreshing change to have an outside light that is so different from all the dreary lights that look like they’ve come from an 19th century coach house! Well done Philips, love this design and the quality is excellent. The only reason I’ve given this 4 stars and not 5 is that my electrical feed to it isn’t currently working so I’ve no idea how well it is in use lol!! BUT I bought it to replace a horrible old fashioned lamp and the damaged wall it left behind. So I don’t care if it works or not – it looks fabulous and very contemporary 🙂

I like the style but as I haven’t as yet mounted it on the wall, I cannot really rate it. When I find the time and a trusted electrician to do it, I will let you know then. But so far, I like what I see.
