Bought this to replace an ancient shredder which tragically died. All plant material that is long and stringy or woody, that might be slow to break down is shredded to add to add to our compost heap. So far it has made short work of the prunings from a small shrub which still had some soft leaves and from a cape gooseberry which had taken over the Polytunnel. It’s quick and efficient but not as quiet as its predecessor but is possibly more powerful. It was simple to put the frame together and it appears really solid and well built and only time will tell how well it stands up to use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis seems to be a heavy duty shredder. You do need to adjust the wheel to ensure everything gets chopped through fully. Once that’s done it eats through the garden trimmings.
Very pleased to date and 3 year warranty

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt took about 5 minutes to unpack & assemble. We plugged it in and switched on but nothing, tried pressing all the buttons, nothing. Phoned the importer who are in Milford Haven about an hour from me, very helpfull person exlpained that the bin lock catch needs to be pushed RIGHT up as far as it will go ( this bit of info was not exlpained in the users manual ) and off we went.. It took about 15 minutes work to fill a barrow with chips so quite effective bit of kit.. It will munch through twigs up to 40mm dia, leaves and all. Very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis little, reasonably priced, machine did everything we asked of it.

We used it to clear a massive garden that had grown to over 18ft high with trees and brambles. This machine kept going non stop for 7 days roughly 8hrs a day, and did a fantastic job.

The machine was quick and easy to set up, very easy to use and held a good amount of clippings before it had to be emptied. ( Roughly a 50L Waste bag)

The only thing we found slightly annoying was the way the clippings piled up at one end, but we soon got in the habbit of stopping and giving the collection box a quick shake, no biggy.

I would recommend this little beauty over some of the more expensive ones we have had.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIn general the shredder works very well but Don’t feed in too much at a time and make sure the shredded material does not clog the output shu

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt was easy to set up. It feels quite robust.
It’s very good for classic tree/branch shape so long as you keep within the 4cm diameter, anything which has a clear 10 or so inches of straight branch before it fans out. It’s quite gratifying to watch a tree sapling being swallowed up.
Where I found it less good was trying to shred odd-shaped debris like rose cuttings and ivy branches whose shape isn’t straight enough to go in via the top and be grabbed by the blade beneath.
After I had used it very heavily for a few days in searing hot weather, I had a problem, but the UK phone support was good, certainly extremely polite and helpful.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wasn’t holding out too much hope given other people’s experiences with low cost shredders, but this works great. Very impressive and designed with safety very much in mind. The only issue I had is that sometimes, if you shred a short branch with an angled bend near the end, it can bounce around on top of the blades and not get eaten, meaning you have to fish it back out. Once you know that and avoid it, it’s brilliant.

Works well seems well made. Used a few times and copes well with prunnings from my apple trees and hedging cuts.

This voracious beast deals easily with all of the clippings from our garden. It’s shredded some surprisingly thick twigs and branches.
My only slight criticism is that my aging physique sometimes struggles maneuvering it about.

I am delighted with it! It chews up rubbish branches and turns to mulch brilliantly. Easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve spent 30 years struggling with jamming garden shredders. They have been a waste of time and money. They have continuously jammed. They worked very slowly. The only good thing was they chopped up the branches into fine small wood chips.

I was reluctant to buy this one, but there’s a different mechanism in this one. It is more of a roller and crusher. It cuts more coarsely. It doesn’t cut all the way through the sticks and leaves stems chopped but still strung together by the bark. Another thing was it didn’t cut at all into the thin terminal twigs at the top of the trees. These came out as twisted strings.

I had to abandon my plan to use the shreddings to add as a bark covering for a flower bed, as they were too coarse.

But the main joy was it didn’t jam once in a 3 hour session. So, for that I am eternally grateful. I can now see what the industry has done, and I approve. They have sacrificed having small fine wood chippings in order to guarantee jam-free usage. Yippee!

Bought this as it’s powerful and can deal with quite large twigs and small branches up to about two inches that constantly fall from our trees. It just munches them down length ways. Once it grabs the branch it drags it down its throat. The output is into a hopper that can be slid out and emptied into the compost bin. The output is not mulch but similar to bark chippings. Haven’t tried it on leaves but think it would cope well. The only downside is it’s big and heavy so you need to be able to wheel it from a shed or garage. It doesn’t have a hopper feed you have to offer the twigs to the throat one or two at a time so it a bit time consuming. Yes it’s noisy but not overly so, about as noisy as my 1.5kw mower!

Very very good product – chops up branches with absolute impunity! It does get jammed if you try and put through too much at once, but the reverse button deals with that very well.

This a good garden shredder but a little heavy to manoeuvre. Shreds well. Not prone to blocking.

Have had this shredder for a couple of months and am very impressed with it. From shredding an unwanted lilac tree to reducing a poplar bough to a mere box of chippings, it’s handled them easily.
All shredders of this power will be a little top heavy, which makes manoeuvrability tricky over uneven surfaces. But the grinding method is inherently quieter than the (cheaper) flailing machines.
Do read the instructions before setup. I didn’t, so it took a while before I’d adjusted it for full effectiveness.
‘Stupid boy’ as Captain Mainwaring would say!

  18. JulianaThornton says:

Priduct is very solid and powerful. My only concern is it will not work without the collection box securely fixed. As the box is plastic it could break then the shredder wont work. If you have a lot to shred then not using the collection box could be useful. Just bear that in mind before buying.

  19. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

This is easily put together out of the box although is a great deal heavier than you might expect. You need to get it balanced right in order to move it about, but once you’ve got the hang of that, it’s easy enough to move.
Straight from the box it was not cutting through branches and left them ‘attached. I removed the cover and adjusted the cutting blade such that it now works fine.
The instruction manual is fine on ‘how to use’, but nothing on how to maintain/adjust. They really don’t want you to do any diy on it at all – pushing you back to dealers.
If it’s as reliable as their cars I should have no worries about durability.

Easy enough to put together, it’s just the wheels you need to fit, only used it for aout an hour but it worked well on various sized branches, it’s a little heavy but once it’s on it’s wheels that not a problem

This is excellent for chopping up thick branches with leaves still attached. It took a bit of getting used to and knowing how to set the blade, but now we’ve mastered it we use it regularly. Well worth the price.

Very impressed with machine. It has a powerful motor and is not too noisy. Able to deal with the branches well, ready for composting. Although it is a heavy machine it relatively easy to move about, and I am a lady over 70. So good my friend is having one too.

A good quality shredder but a little too heavy when moving around. Works reasonably well but some needs putting through twice. Sturdy construction with good safety features.

Really pleased with this purchase. Our willow tree just dropped a huge limb onto the lawn. The Hyundai chopped a huge volume of material down to a useful mulch.
It is top heavy so manoeuvring it around is a bit of a pain, having said that not sure it could be designed differently.

I have lots of hedges (and lots of compost heaps) and this is my third (or fourth?) garden shredder – i’ve worn out the others over the years..
This one works well, its not too noisy. It is heavy (which indicates a powerful motor) and I intentionally chose a “big motor” model, from experience. This one chops fresh cuttings up to about 1″ thick without too much effort.
I would prefer it to have a transparent hopper so that I could more easily see when it is full or needs a shake up. Other than that I’m pretty pleased with it so far.

Nice robust shredder for branches up to 35mm thick. Has it’s own collection box, so easy to empty on the compost heap or bin.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTilting the machine to manoeuvre it feels slightly top heavy but care needed when releasing it back to the horizontal as it tends to be out of control for the last few inches. Also the shredded material tends to pile up in the box, so I’ve taken to opening and it and evening out the shreds to prevent clogging. Noise level will certainly not upset the neighbours!
Overall very impressed, feels well built and we’ll designed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsed to shred trimmings from overgrown hedge, plus roses and shrubs. Very pleased with results. Green trimmings put through, did not shred but bruised only. Ok then for composter, as will break down more efficiently. Noise levels very acceptable, approx on level with lawnmower. On the whole very pleased with purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWish we had had this equipment years ago. It saves hours of labour cutting up and bagging branches. Love how the shredder reduces large amounts of material into the rigid box which is easy to use and has safety built in. The shredded branches can then be used in other garden applications. Fewer trips to the local Tip with excess. Less waste, less labour, good for the planet, good for the gardener! What’s not to like?

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI have only used this shredder for a few days but first impressions are good. If anything new develops with time i will update this review.

Although heavy, the shredder was unpacked by inverting the box and pulling the box upwards. Assembly was quick and easy, folding the legs out and attaching a crossbar/axle. Tools are provided for this. The plastic wheels look a little flimsy for the weight they have to bear but we’ll see.

As expected, the shredder handles woody material best and bunches of finer material can jam a bit. However, it is much easier to unblock because the cutting tool is exposed underneath. Sounds risky but the collection box has a two pin electrical connector so the machine will not operate without the box in place.

As a previous reviewer said, to achieve the best cut there is an adjustment knob on the side of the machine. It easily chopped up a 2.5cm thick holly branch once I made the correct adjustment.

The machine is heavy to move about and the low centre of gravity demands that it is significantly tilted before dragging but that same property is reassuring in that it won’t topple over easily when in use. Finally, what a delight to see a machine supplied with such lengthy electrical cord.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersShredded a couple of trees using this machine and applied the mulch to my veg patch.
I have only had a couple of hours of use so far, but it has done the job brilliantly. I had to adjust the blade once to get it to cut everything properly but that was in the instructions.
The unit arrived in a damaged box and had no hopper, but Hyundai sent a replacement hopper out in around 5 days.

It was easy to assemble and is easily moved around. The safety cut off for the clippings box is a bit fiddly, but works ok! We use it for garden hedge and tree trimmings and are very pleased with its performance.
