Incredible piece of equipment. Helps us easily produce a four person podcast and even solve the issue of remote interviewing somebody at the same time. UI is great too.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m an aspiring YouTube content creator wanting to improve my sound quality. I took the plunge and purchased the Shure SM7B mic, Focusrite scarlet solo, and the cloudlifter. I wasn’t happy with raw sound quality of this setup, I had to apply a lot tweaking in adobe to make it sound “good” to my ears. My opinion of Good is obviously different than others so take this for what it’s worth. This tweaking was a lot of extra work in post.

Tom Buck put out a video asking the question are cloudlifters and fetheads useless now it got my attention. I left a message on his channel and he responded and said I wouldn’t be disappointed with the sound quality of the Rodecaster II Pro. He was right!

This thing is awesome! I love the sound of my SM7B now, I recorded a couple voice overs / video and I didn’t have to apply the editing in adobe. (Parametric EQ & multiband compressor settings)

Yes this device isn’t cheap, nothing about it is. This is a really nice piece of equipment and I love it. They recently updated the firmware to include a routing tables to allow streamers and creators to tune our mixes however we want them. For example, while gaming I can have music coming over the Bluetooth line in, teamspeak audio on its own channel, specific gaming sounds on its own channel, YouTube on its own channel and my mic channel will only be sending my voice mixed with sound pads etc. this is really cool.

I’m not a professional audio engineer nor do I have years of experience with this type of equipment, I’m a noob learning as I go.

Improvements: my only complaint so fare is you can create a custom mic setting (which is awesome BTW) but you cannot reopen the setting to inspect/review the setting once you save it). This is a firmware oversight in my opinion that they will hopefully fix. The achieve functionality I mentioned above I plugged both USB channels into my computer. You may have to unplug something else like an external hard drive etc.

All in all this is a great device, I love how my mic sounds, and the less work I have to do in Adobe is epic! Hopefully in the future I’ll try streaming and will have mastered this device, second reason I wanted this this. Your mileage may vary, so fare with ride on Rodecaster Pro II has been a blast!

Fabulous creative sound production tool. It can do the amazing work of a studio costing thousands.
The learning curve is easy and graceful.
I have used the original Rode Procaster was great but this next generation displays what fine engineering and design can do.

Micro-SD-Slot ohne Funktion, sonst OK ...

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this back when it was under pre-Order at another Store, they were taking so long to come I went on Amazon and found it would arrive by end of release date month. I then bought it from Amazon, I got an update saying it would arrive within 3 days after I bought it on the 19th if release month, I will say I was happy with knowing it would arrive much earlier than the date listed on the Amazon Page. I got my Rode Rodecaster pro II, this made me very happy so far, I will say this I do wish this had more Audio Routing, more like my GOXLR.

    Pros

    1. Love being able to record without needing my PC
    2. 4 headphone jack inputs
    3. smaller size than the original
    4. More Faders than my GO XLR (full size)
    5. can be fully used with only a Good Portable battery
    6. Being able to use an External HDD directly plugged in to the device
    7. Being able to control OBS Scenes, allowing me to free up some of my Stream Deck
    8. Finally love being able to save each Show presets,

    CONS

    1. The plastic feel
    2. Audio Routing not being as good as I was hoping it would be after launch (I am glad that with Beta FW1.0.5, that it is here kind of)
    3. accessories not being cheap (I mean 49.99 for a plastic cover) I ended up 3d Printing my own, but that cover should be no more than 29.99 to 35.99
    4. not having the Vesa Arm at Launch (I know this last one is a nit-pick), I ended up buying a single monitor arm from here.

This is a great buy overall, not perfect yet, I would say this is a great buy if you are in the need for Audio Interface as of to Kind of a Stream Deck, Go XLR all in one.

    A MUST BUY, IMO

Excellent all in one solution for podcasting / home studio. Sometimes causes weird buzz in speakers which resolves when readjusting faders; a minor flaw but annoying in the middle of live stream.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFantastic interface packed with features.

Mic preamps are crystal clear with more than enough gain to push my SM7B over the top.

Headphone preamps are also incredibly good and clear, monitor outs are fantastic at line-level or volume controlled and as the previous – crystal clear.

Effects processing is excellent here with the essentials to fine-tune the sound you’re looking for – before post. Visual display of all effects processing helps you dial in everything easy.

Final mix effects like Compellor are excellent to help round out the mix with multiple speakers.

Delighted at the noise gate since it applies hysteresis AND you can control the depth (gain drop) of the gate which is ultra-important.

Compressor, high pass filter, de-esser, EQ and more are all represented and work exceptionally well and easy to setup.

    Bluetooth works great.

The ability to both use the device as an I/O during live environments post-fader AND record directly to the SD card PRE-fader as multitrack is a HUUUUGE bonus for unity gain backups is a must for editing clips in post.

Smart pads are great, though I would like to see a “cough” feature added with momentary lock that’s easier to slam when you’re running solo in a stream since tapping the small mute button isn’t ideal when you need to quickly silence a sneeze.

    Faders are excellent.

The ability to mix-minus so on stream everyone can hear the full output but in Discord or chat apps my bros and bro-ettes can only hear me.

Overall an absolutely EndGame device and with upcoming updates this will make streaming far more efficient with input table routing.

    Absolute BEAST.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve been a big fan of Rode and its products, but I write this review based on my long experience with audio production.
Rodecaster Pro 2 is better than Rodecaster Pro in every way, but there is one big issue: TRRS input for connecting to mobile phones is no longer there.
You have to use the extra USB port to connect it to your phone, which causes many issues. Here I explore the USB solutions first before diving into the problems.

Solution 1: If you are using an iPhone, you need to connect you phone with Rode MFI-certified USB C to Lightning cable (SC15 or SC19), which only transfers audio but doesn’t support charging your phone simultaneously. If you’re planning to use to your phone for long hours (like Clubhouse), it’s a big headache. If your phone has wireless charging capability (i.e iPhone 10/11/12/13), that needs to be attached to the back of your phone separately.

Solution 2: connect your iPhone to Rodecaster with Apple USB to Lightning adaptor (the one with USB A + Lightning on one end and Lightning on the other end), which allows you to charge your phone and use any USB A to USB C cable to transfer the audio to Rodecaster simultaneously.

Here is the BIG Problem in both cases: in both cases Rodecaster and USB adapter act as an external sound card and iPhone doesn’t route audio through them during cellular phone calls. (obviously an Apple restriction not Rode’s)
Solution: you’ve got to use Whatsapp or other applications to send audio through the rodecaster. But here is another BIGGER Problem: if you disconnect the lightning cable and connect it back, the sound will come out of the iPhone speakers and won’t go through rodecaster anymore (unless you hang up and call back again). This issue happens intermittently and not always on all applications. But for applications like Clubhouse, you’ve got to close the app and open it again to send the audio through Rodecaster.

The TRRS input on Rodecaster Pro (previous version) was amazing as it always sends the audio through rodecaster when used with Apple lightning to TRRS adapter (the old 3.5mm headphone adaptor you used to connect your headset to lightning port after Apple removed the 3.5 headset jack).
That 3.5 to lightning adaptor always works even during the normal cellular phone calls and even if you disconnect and connect the iPhone several times. With that the audio always goes through Rodecaster. Plus that allowed me to use Apple iPhone Dock/Stand, which charges the iPhone and has the TRRS (headset) port too. Belkin also has an adaptor wihtout needing the stand.
Some say you should use Bluetooth but the audio quality of the bluetooth is nothing comparable to direct USB and TRRS quality.
Removing TRRS is a big oversight and I hope Rode finds a way to add that back, perhaps as an add-on USB module!

Lack of TRRS/Phone jack is a big problem

Having a chat channel available over USBC has got rid of the TTRS cable previously needed. Also if you plug in a on other USBC cable you would then have 3!

The unit is smaller and there is a ton of customizability. All settings can be changed via the computer app.

Having a powerful processor means it can also handle power hungry effects LIVE, these effects can also be programmed into any smart pad. You are not limited to only one effect on one smart pad!

The amp is also a lot more powerful, I’m a quiet speaker and use the SM7B so I previously needed a lot of extra gain by using a cloudlifter. With the RCP2 I longer need the CL and there is maybe less noticeable hiss (though that could be down to the impressive SM7B processing present).

In the box was included 2 x 2 metre USBC cables.

Tom Buck kept me excited about this product and so far I am very impressed.

This is really well built. Everything about it feels premium.

The initial setup was a breeze. The unit connected to my Wi-Fi network and added the latest firmware, then the setup wizard made getting up and running an absolute pleasure.

It’s not cheap, but it’s incredible value for money.

Receive mine 4 days ago and as a newbie I was amazed how quickly I was able to pic up the basics. Such a powerful piece of kit and will certainly help my workflow. I didn’t buy from Amazon, had it on pre-order from Wex.

If you're a YouTuber or Podcaster it's a must buy.
