I see people paid $75 for it and it went up $25 so I paid $99. Gotta go to the hardware store to get fittings but other than that it was easy to install and seems sturdy.
This is a decent product, but it’s not plug and play. I am using a 50′ ” rubber air hose and I had to make a couple trips to the store to get fittings that are compatible with the hose reel. I also decided to install it on the wall in my garage and the base plate is too wide to screw 4 screws into the stud. I used to two screws and 2 big molly bolts to secure it. I also found it easier to remove the swivel air hose connector then trying to attach my hose to the swivel connector. It is fine now and does not leak air but it took me while to have it set up the way I want it.
I love this thing. It’s simple enough to install for what it is. You just have to make a trip to the hardware store to connect your style of air hose. Keeps my hoses neat and out of the way.
his is a well built and strong air line reel. For the price they should have included the correct airline fittings. This reel saves time having to wrap up a long airline, with the tangling that involves
The ad on Amazon states in a picture that the inlet and outlet are 1/4 inch. Not so. Be prepared to buy reducers to make your 1/4 inch hose fittings work. Depending on how you adapt your hose you will need at least $15 in brass fittings from Amazon which does not include quick disconnects and a hose whip. But the unit functions well and is a good unit once installed.
Needs a fitting to make air line to fit into the reel, Otherwise everything else is great.
This is a good hose reel. However, the fitting to connect the hose to it is not adequate for the job. The reel comes with a 3/8 male to 1/4 male fitting, it needs to be a 3/8 male to 1/4 female fitting because air hoses come with male fittings. To make it work I have to make the connection so long the thin hose I’m using sticks way out from the reel. I don’t have access to proper crimping tools to cut and reattach fittings. This part was very inconvenient.
I do mechanic work daily and always wasted so much time rolling up a hose and this was my first hose reel. (been doing it for 15 years. hand rolling the hose sucked) I bought this reel for $45 bucks about three months ago. glad i did cause now i see its almost 80. was about to buy another for inside my garage. this thing is a time saver. I love this reel and i use it every single day. glad i purchased when i did. what an awesome hose reel even at 80 its well worth it.
Takes a beating bouncing on trailer and its holding up grea
A breeze to mount. Had to run to store for correct fittings. Totally tidied up my hose storage. No more coiling by hand or dealing with a tangled 100-foot mess on the garage floor.
As others have stated in other reviews it does not come with brass fittings for 3/8 hose the fittings are too big are made for half inch hose
Solid device. Mounted on my horizontal air compressor to keep all my accessories in one place. Very happy.
I cannot say whether this will be sturdy yet but overall it appears to be solid.
It has been a few days since I put these together, but as I recall, they both have all 3/8″ fittings. It doesn’t really matter. I’ve gotten a good laugh out of all the shocked reviews of competing products with 1/4″ fittings. The pressure drop across a short quarter-inch fitting is totally miniscule compared to the drop along a 3/8″ hose, even at reasonably high flow rates, so it makes no practical difference. And most prosumer air tools are 1/4″ anyhow.
1.) 3/8″ to 1/4″ coupler. (3/8″ female to 1/4″ female) – this connection is the hose coming from your compressor that feeds the reel. 3/8″ on the reel and 1/4″ on your hose. (Yes, 3/8″ compressor hose has 1/4″ NPT ends.)
2.) 3/8″ male to 1/4″ female – this connection is from the reel to your 100′ hose.
At this price point, I feel that they should include these adapters. I also realize there are other ways the connections can be made, using various adapters and couplers. However, this is the simplest way by using only two extra parts. I couldn’t tell exactly what I was going to need when I purchased it, so I just waited for it to get here and then had to run out and buy more stuff to get it to work. It doesn’t help that there is a photo mentioning “1/4″ input and output connections.” There is nothing 1/4″ coming in or out on this reel. They are both 3/8″ NPT – one male (input) and one female (output).
The reel works well and seems durable. We’ll see how that works out in the future.
Great reel but for price it should come with fitting to adapt to air hose at least but I do not mind paying a little extra if it’s a quality product an the reel is
The reel will easily hold 100 ft of 3/8″ air hose. The handle works well and it reels up quickly. The slight resistance to reel movement is very handy to keep hose from unreeling. I attached a piece of 2 x 6 to the wall stud with 3 1/2″ construction screws. I attached the reel with to the 2 by with 1 1/2 x 5/16 lag screws.
Reel was advertised as accommodating 50ft, but would probably hold 100ft. Much neater and more convenient storage of my air hose. Well made and well finished. A spring came with the reel which is intended to be installed over the short hose between the hub and the reel to prevent kinks. Instructions didn’t mention this, but missing that on the initial assembly was only a minor issue.
It would be better if there was more adapters in the ki
I converted it to use with a 1/4″ hose but you will need an additional 3/8″ adapter. Easy to pick one up at local home store. To screw on the 100′ hose it is more difficult than described in their video. I was thinking it might have been easier to use a 25′ hose and 75′ extension cord in my application.
The need for additional adapters is somewhat of a pain to deal with. Other than that, the reel works fine and holds a 100 feet of hose. Had to build a base to make it portable.
Pros
Once set up this is very easy to use with 100′ hose and has room to spare.
Easy to install.
Cons
Fitting installed at factory leaked air bad and i needed an impact wrench to take it off.
Very nice reel. I put a 100′ of 1/4″ hose and it could hold another 50′. So far works great.
My wife was trying to assemble this but the instructions were horrible, practically useless.. With my help she was able to figure out how to assemble it and mount it. However, even though it came with adapters to fit either a 1/4″ connector or a 3/8″ connector, there weren’t enough to completely assemble it. Fortunately I had some spare adapters to complete the assembly. It came with some other parts, in particular, a long lightweight spring, with which we could not figure out how to include it in the assembly. We left it out and the reel works fine. It is more than large enough to hold our 100′ 3/8″ hose.
This isn’t a reel craft, the fit and finish isn’t flawless, BUT….it is very sturdy, has nice detents, all steel construction. Big 1/2″npt inlet too. Very reasonably priced.
Works great. I keep a 100′ x 1/4″ and a 50′ x 3/8″ hose on this reel to reach anywhere in my yard.
I welded this one straight to my stand up compressor tank. It works great no leaks and I can transport it much easier I use it to repair fence panels with my nail gun but I use a pretty big compressor. Also use it for automotive work so retracting the air hose is very quick
I mounted this on my air compressor for 100′ of air hose. Works like a charm.
Mount easily and holds a lot of hose to reach everywhere in my shop. Very well designed and very sturdy and will buy another for the garage.
Very happy with this so far. Easy installation and I prefer the hand crank over the spring loaded ones because it seems the spring loaded reels always wear out quickly. Maybe that is not the case in the very expensive models but for my home shop I am not looking to spend $250 to roll up an air hose. For my proposes, this is perfect and the price is reasonable.
Love it, no complaints. Fits my 100ft 3/8 with air in the hose.
Gave it a 4 star on Hand Crank cuz it’s a little wobbly when you crank hose back in, but not too bad all in all a great air hose reel!
Sturdy and reels my 100′ hose up easily and tightly.
This unit was mounted in my weld shop and holds a 1/4″ x 100′ air hose easily; it lets me roll up the hose fast!
This reel was simple and fairly easy to install………holds 100′ of 3/8″ rubber hose well. Tension on the unwind is more easily adjusted before air hose installed.
I have a 50′ flexzilla hose and this reel works perfect and it looks nice on the garage wall
Mounted it to the rear door of my work trailer. Easy to access and out of the way.
Well constructed unit. Smooth operation. Installed it in a service truck.
Works great so far keeps a fairly good amount of hose wound up.
I was surprised how well this raps and stays where you stop. Of course it’s not as nice as an auto retract but it’s not price that way, for the money it’s a very good product. I would definitely buy it again if my circumstances were similar.
Easy installation. I bought to use with a 100 foot air hose. Well made. Would buy agai
What took me 10 min to coil up my 50ft. cable, now it takes only 10 sec.
I put 150 feet of hose on it and it works great, sturdy
Reel is good I ordered the wrong one but I still keeping i
This is a great product. I bolted it up on the wall in my garage and it works wonderful so my cord doesn’t get tangled and isn’t just laying around.
Happy so far, mounted onto wall. Heavy duty-No leaks. Strong- sturdy materials. I did have to buy connectors and fittings for hoses, wish everything was sold together.
This is a very durable, easy to use reel. Replaced an auto-rewinder that failed and didn’t have a user serviceable mechanism. Bought one for the garage, will likely add another to the workshop in the future.
I used a 1/2 inch swivel whip air hose with 3/8 MNPT ends to jack this into my air system and have a 50 foot 1/2 inch air hose with 3/8 MNPT ends installed on it. I decided to use a 3/8 quick connect on the end of the hose to drive my impact gun and other larger hardware. This thing supplies a LOT of air. No leaks so far.
I was expecting NPT fittings for in and out hoses, and these are flared (as best I can tell). I just put a little extra teflon tape on the threads and made sure they were good and tight. No leaks and works exactly as advertised. It works great in my application.
Like I said, I have 100′ of 3/8’s Flexzilla hose on mine. It could EASILY take another 50′. The brass swivel surprisingly doesn’t leak AT ALL. The hose comes off smoothly and controlled, and with some hand guidance goes back on neatly.
Even with these minor issues, I’d buy it again in a second.
Works well in my garage. Reels smoothly and stops as it’s supposed
Great hose reel. I mounted it to my workbench and have used it for a few months and it feels well made and sturdy.
Arrived sooner than expected, 1 day. was in original box. Was excellent quality. I did not realize it had 3/8″ pipe threads. No Prob. I ordered a few 1/2″ to 1/4″ adapters and some 3/8″ to 1/4″ adapters for good measure, just in case. Great Item. I love it. Very good quality and very smooth. Holds 100 feet of Flexzilla hose no problem. I may throw another 50 feet of Flexzilla hose I accidentally bought many months ago. I unbolted my old crappy Harbor Freight Reel, and bolted this to my wood platform I made for my hose reel. This is amazingly smooth and incredible quality.
Got this installed yesterday and tried it out by checking wives spare tire which I found was totally flat.
For now I use this reel in a portable application before I have a garage to mount it in. I built a small wood base to attach the reel, designed to have the board the same length as the handle so that it can stand upright while the padded elbow of the reel can be used as a handle. See photos. I used an 11″ x 15.25″ of 3/4″ plywood, some 1″ bolts, washers, t-nuts, and anti-skid feet. Were I doing this again, I would probably use a swivel connector for the base so that the hose end can be connected to it while in storage (facing forward), and also for attaching the air supply (facing backward relative to the wheel rotation).
The reel is better then expected. Pleasantly surprised what a good deal it’s turned out to be.
This reel worked out great for the 50′ 1/2″ hose. With properly using teflon tape this reel didn’t produce any noticeable leaks. It has 3/8″ fittings so it worked out perfectly for my setup.
Overall I’m very happy with how the system turned out. After everything was assembled there were no major leaks that I noticed. After about 2 hours I lost roughly 10 PSI in the tank. Eventually I may upgrade the shop plumbing to the Rapidair kit or copper pipping. I can’t recommend this hose reel enough. Thumbs way up!
