I see people paid $75 for it and it went up $25 so I paid $99. Gotta go to the hardware store to get fittings but other than that it was easy to install and seems sturdy.

This is a decent product, but it’s not plug and play. I am using a 50′ ” rubber air hose and I had to make a couple trips to the store to get fittings that are compatible with the hose reel. I also decided to install it on the wall in my garage and the base plate is too wide to screw 4 screws into the stud. I used to two screws and 2 big molly bolts to secure it. I also found it easier to remove the swivel air hose connector then trying to attach my hose to the swivel connector. It is fine now and does not leak air but it took me while to have it set up the way I want it.

I love this thing. It’s simple enough to install for what it is. You just have to make a trip to the hardware store to connect your style of air hose. Keeps my hoses neat and out of the way.

The ad on Amazon states in a picture that the inlet and outlet are 1/4 inch. Not so. Be prepared to buy reducers to make your 1/4 inch hose fittings work. Depending on how you adapt your hose you will need at least $15 in brass fittings from Amazon which does not include quick disconnects and a hose whip. But the unit functions well and is a good unit once installed.

Needs a fitting to make air line to fit into the reel, Otherwise everything else is great.

This is a good hose reel. However, the fitting to connect the hose to it is not adequate for the job. The reel comes with a 3/8 male to 1/4 male fitting, it needs to be a 3/8 male to 1/4 female fitting because air hoses come with male fittings. To make it work I have to make the connection so long the thin hose I’m using sticks way out from the reel. I don’t have access to proper crimping tools to cut and reattach fittings. This part was very inconvenient.

I do mechanic work daily and always wasted so much time rolling up a hose and this was my first hose reel. (been doing it for 15 years. hand rolling the hose sucked) I bought this reel for $45 bucks about three months ago. glad i did cause now i see its almost 80. was about to buy another for inside my garage. this thing is a time saver. I love this reel and i use it every single day. glad i purchased when i did. what an awesome hose reel even at 80 its well worth it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOkay, so this thing actually works pretty good once you figure things out on your own. The installation section says to refer to the appendix for assembly. There is NO appendix. You are on your own so it would be best if you are somewhat handy and experienced in figuring things out without much help. I needed to get an additional 3/8″ to 1/4″ adapter to attach the main hose to the swivel fitting. I also had to manipulate the hose from this fitting around the crank handle to get it through the flange opening without crimping the hose. I bought the 3′ extension line to go from the compressor to the supply hose fitting and I should have opted for 4′ instead to get the reel a bit higher on the wall from the compressor on the floor. Once completed, the unit works as I was expecting for a “no frills” hose reel.
I cannot say whether this will be sturdy yet but overall it appears to be solid.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these two air hose reels (50′ and 100′) for extension hoses that were forever getting dumped on the garage floor. They were simple to assemble, and simple to mount to plywood sheets that I can carry or hang from a peg. I also put 3′ swivel pigtails on the air inlet to make them a little easier to gang. Since I’m old and they are a little heavy with the hose on them, I may put hooks on the plywood to hang them on a dolly when I move them around. The plywood I used is Baltic birch, and I put a couple coats of spar varnish on that after I took the picture.

It has been a few days since I put these together, but as I recall, they both have all 3/8″ fittings. It doesn’t really matter. I’ve gotten a good laugh out of all the shocked reviews of competing products with 1/4″ fittings. The pressure drop across a short quarter-inch fitting is totally miniscule compared to the drop along a 3/8″ hose, even at reasonably high flow rates, so it makes no practical difference. And most prosumer air tools are 1/4″ anyhow.

    Well-made, very handy!

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersThis reel comes with a 3/8″ female to 1/4″ male adapter, which can’t really be used unless you add yet another coupler to that. (Hence the 4 star instead of 5 rating.) You’ll need these two adapters to get everything set up for standard 3/8″ compressor hose, all NPT…

1.) 3/8″ to 1/4″ coupler. (3/8″ female to 1/4″ female) – this connection is the hose coming from your compressor that feeds the reel. 3/8″ on the reel and 1/4″ on your hose. (Yes, 3/8″ compressor hose has 1/4″ NPT ends.)

2.) 3/8″ male to 1/4″ female – this connection is from the reel to your 100′ hose.

At this price point, I feel that they should include these adapters. I also realize there are other ways the connections can be made, using various adapters and couplers. However, this is the simplest way by using only two extra parts. I couldn’t tell exactly what I was going to need when I purchased it, so I just waited for it to get here and then had to run out and buy more stuff to get it to work. It doesn’t help that there is a photo mentioning “1/4″ input and output connections.” There is nothing 1/4″ coming in or out on this reel. They are both 3/8″ NPT – one male (input) and one female (output).

The reel works well and seems durable. We’ll see how that works out in the future.

Reel was advertised as accommodating 50ft, but would probably hold 100ft. Much neater and more convenient storage of my air hose. Well made and well finished. A spring came with the reel which is intended to be installed over the short hose between the hub and the reel to prevent kinks. Instructions didn’t mention this, but missing that on the initial assembly was only a minor issue.

To screw on the 100′ hose it is more difficult than described in their video. I was thinking it might have been easier to use a 25′ hose and 75′ extension cord in my application.

My wife was trying to assemble this but the instructions were horrible, practically useless.. With my help she was able to figure out how to assemble it and mount it. However, even though it came with adapters to fit either a 1/4″ connector or a 3/8″ connector, there weren’t enough to completely assemble it. Fortunately I had some spare adapters to complete the assembly. It came with some other parts, in particular, a long lightweight spring, with which we could not figure out how to include it in the assembly. We left it out and the reel works fine. It is more than large enough to hold our 100′ 3/8″ hose.

Very happy with this so far. Easy installation and I prefer the hand crank over the spring loaded ones because it seems the spring loaded reels always wear out quickly. Maybe that is not the case in the very expensive models but for my home shop I am not looking to spend $250 to roll up an air hose. For my proposes, this is perfect and the price is reasonable.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersA solid 4 star product. Pretty sturdy – been using it with a 100ft air hose for a couple months now without issue. Two minor things as to why I deducted 1 star. 1) I wish the arm that bends around was at a more sweeping angle providing more clearance between the reel and itself. With 100ft 3/8 hose if you’re not reeling it in perfectly without any overlapping the hose will rub on this arm. I suspect if you’re using a larger hose than 3/8 you’d run into even more serious clearance issues. 2) the adapters they included made little to no sense. You’d think there’d be a standard by now for air hose fittings but it took me a couple trips to get what I needed to adapt my existing hose to fit on this reel. The fitting on the arm is gigantic and requires much reduction in order to fit standard 3/8 air hose. Other than those 2 minor things there is still great value. You get a nice sturdy steel reel for a really good price point.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersAWESOME hose reel. Instructions/YouTube instructional video do NOT depict the difficulty in installing the hose. I used Flexzilla 3/8’s hose. Perhaps it was the cumbersome 100′ length I was dealing with, but the way they suggest you install the hose in the video is unrealistic. Threading the hose on will “pre-load your hose with twist that will need to be taken out before winding it on the reel. On a 100′ roll this WILL be a PITA to take out. Also, a zip-tie placed at the end of the anti-kink spring is a must, otherwise the spring WILL migrate away from the coupling. Also, just as other reviews have stated, you’ll need some adapters to get everything to work. Not unexpected at all so I can’t dock the product for any points here.

Like I said, I have 100′ of 3/8’s Flexzilla hose on mine. It could EASILY take another 50′. The brass swivel surprisingly doesn’t leak AT ALL. The hose comes off smoothly and controlled, and with some hand guidance goes back on neatly.

Even with these minor issues, I’d buy it again in a second.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a very inexpensive reel to help store my air hose. My on;y complaint is that there should be a couple items that should come with it. The spring which is to prevent kinking is the wrong size – it doesn’t go over a 3/8″ air hose. You need to buy a Compression Spring 7/8″ x 4″ that would go over a 3/8″ air hose – specifically the air hose fitting at the end of the air hose. What is provided goes over the hose only but if you can’t get it to go over the fittings at the end, what good is it?! There is also a need to at least provide a elbow from the lower fitting to allow some versatility in how and where you install the reel. Outside of making 2 trips to the hardware store, the reel works great!

Holds 100 feet of Flexzilla hose no problem. I may throw another 50 feet of Flexzilla hose I accidentally bought many months ago. Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThe reel is solid and well built. The only thing I don’t like are the connections. I am using this with my home compressor and it’s 1/4″. This thing has 3/8″ Male to the compressor and 3/8″ Female to the line. My original goal was to make my lines detachable so I can use my 10′ lead-in line and also be able to detach my 50′ line from this reel and plug directly to the compressor. After some time searching different quick connect pieces, I think the easiest will be a reducer from HF. I hope the connectors won’t be too long.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThe only thing missing is a latch to keep the reel from unwinding during transportation or storage. Eventually I will fabricate my own with a simple spring hook and drilling a hole in the reel to serve this purpose.

For now I use this reel in a portable application before I have a garage to mount it in. I built a small wood base to attach the reel, designed to have the board the same length as the handle so that it can stand upright while the padded elbow of the reel can be used as a handle. See photos. I used an 11″ x 15.25″ of 3/4″ plywood, some 1″ bolts, washers, t-nuts, and anti-skid feet. Were I doing this again, I would probably use a swivel connector for the base so that the hose end can be connected to it while in storage (facing forward), and also for attaching the air supply (facing backward relative to the wheel rotation).

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersExcellent quality hose reel, for years I’ve used PVC hoses and dealt with the aggravation of tangling, kinks and stiff hoses. I recently upgraded my compressor and needed a new setup so Legacy was my answer. For my lead in hoses I used: 2′ (HFZ1202YW3S) and 4′ (HFZ1204YW3S) and my Main hose (HFZ1250YW3). I went with 1/2″ hose with 3/8″ ends on everything, the larger hose helps keep up the supply demand for impact wrenches and higher flowing air tools. I also purchased this ReelWorks (L201303A) and Rapidair regulator (K93215) from Amazon to complete the system. And multiple trips back and forth to local hardware stores for the fittings and valves etc. I already had a retractable reel with 3/8″ hose on the other side of the shop.

This reel worked out great for the 50′ 1/2″ hose. With properly using teflon tape this reel didn’t produce any noticeable leaks. It has 3/8″ fittings so it worked out perfectly for my setup.

Overall I’m very happy with how the system turned out. After everything was assembled there were no major leaks that I noticed. After about 2 hours I lost roughly 10 PSI in the tank. Eventually I may upgrade the shop plumbing to the Rapidair kit or copper pipping. I can’t recommend this hose reel enough. Thumbs way up!
