Received this as a birthday present and being new to card making took a while to suss it out. After looking at the range of machines on offer I made the decision to have the Big Shot. I am so glad I did as it has enabled me to produce beautiful cards that look so professional. Having previously only used my neighbours different branded machine I wasn’t sure but in a couple of days i’m an old hand at it! The ease of use and the robust construction will allow me to go on making cards as a hobby for many years to come.
It comes with 1 Platform, 1 Thin Die Adapter and 1 Pair of Standard Cutting Pads. The dies are widely available on Amazon etc, with lots coming from China at silly price ranging from 99p upwards but well made and as good as you can buy for 3 times the price at craft shops. Go on treat yourself!
The size of the Big Shot is not too big but it certainly cuts with ease.
Although I have numerous die cutting machines the Big Shot is by far the best.

Further to my first review I have been reading the low star score ratings and find them difficult to understand. The warping of the plates can be reduced by turning them over occasionally and a cracking noise is normal (even my electronic one does this). As for the dies marking the plates this is only natural as the dies have sharp edges, it happens on all machines be they manual or electronic. I ensure I use the same plate for the dies to cut into. On my old machine which I had for 15 years I only replaced the plates once. The new machine plates appear to be wearing well. As for dies not cutting through completely this is down to the die. I purchased a multi purpose platform which is a great help but there are still some dies in my collection that need extra padding – I usually just put a couple of sheets of printer paper in the relevant area. As for the types of dies, I use all kinds – big names to foreign imports (from Amazon). I find these great value though it usually takes several weeks for them to arrive. I suppose it is down to different people have different expectations but so far I have not been disappointed.

Great for mass-production, not economical for infrequent use
I think this is overpriced considering the simplicity of the mechanism – it’s basically just a small mechanical mangle. It would be better if there was some kind of stabiliser either side of the compressing roller to keep the plastic plates from bending so much over time and use, and it’s a shame that the plates get so spoilt by the dies, which get actually embedded in the plastic. Other than that, it does what it’s meant to do. Sissix dies are very pricey, so you need to have lots of use for each one to make this an economical way of producing shapes.

Ready to get started on card making as all the components were there.
Had a friend pop over to demonstrate how to use it as I was unsure and didnt want to break. Worked brilliantly. Explained how to use it. Will be making plenty of cards and using the dies to cut out items for my brownie unit to use. Very pleased with it.

Very good quality product. Have used it a number of times. You have to ensure you have the space at the back to run the large plates through.
I’m new to to die cutting, this came quickly, easy to use, and folds up snugly, so takes up not too much space. I have not used it that often yet, but so far do good.
Works really well except central cutting
Bought this as an additonal machine to my A4 machine as I have to cut to one side using smaller dies to ensure the dies cut well. Same problem occurs with this even though its a smaller A5 device. Rather disappointed with it on this score, but every other aspect seems great so far.

This is a smooth tool and works like a dream. Makes card making so much more productive. Can use all my existing dies too. The plates are a little weaker than I expected an marked easily but they do the job. My only regret is not getting a bigger one because I’m now addicted!
i’ve been having so much fun with this machine cutting fabric pieces for applique but of course it’s costing me a fortune in the bigz dies!!! my only criticism is that it doesn’t explain that the cutting will mark the sandwich plates so i had a nervous breakdown the first time i used it and had to phone a friend to find out what i had done wrong. when i had calmed down i had a wonderful time and ordered more dies……
Good quality machine for card making
I ordered this machine for my card making hobby and it works very well. The price on Amazon was cheaper than the prices at shops in my country so this was a good bargain for me. With the machine you get also a pair of cutting pads and a multipurpose platform that you need to get started. It was also nice that the machine was delivered to the door.

Item arrived packaged well and within the time allotted. Don’t know why i hesitated to buy this, worth every penny.
Only problem with this purchase is that I now have to go and buy a selection of dies and embossing folders (terrible isn’t it). Crafty magazine free gifts are often excellent. If you don’t already you should check them regularly to see what is up for grabs.

Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase. The machine itself is easy to handle and is quite compact when folded up, which is great for storage. The only negatives were that the dies that were included were not exciting and it would have been great to have a booklet with some examples of what could be achieved using this machine.
Professional card production!
Excellent fun! Very sturdy and well made. Clear instructions, very easy to follow. I would recommend this product for cutting shapes for Christmas and other cards. I used all kinds of paper and card and it coped with everything. Very easy to use and I can see it being used for many years. Moderately expensive but well worth it if used a lot.

This was bought as an Amazon warehouse purchase. I was disappointed it only had one clear mat with it not the expected two. But I needed it that day so made do. It’s put me off buying warehouse buys because clearly someone bought this, removed the item they wanted and returned it, knowing that it would not be noticeable in a product check unless you know this product. The machine itself is very good. The extra 2″ compared to the smaller machine means fabric does not have to cut to the 6″ width, but can be folded underneath so saving wastage. I can lift this with my arthritis, but would not be able to manage the product larger than this.

I bought it as a present for my sister and she is so pleased with it!!! It works perfectly and its size allows her to carry out projects she couldn’t make before. The package and delivery were correct although it arrived two days after the due date.

I was given an XPRESS craft machine it only worked about 6 times, not well then broke. My. Sizzix replaced it and it has been so good.

I love using my Bis Shot Plus. Its easy to use and I love crafting with it whenever I need to craft something wither it is a card, scrap booking or simple just cutting out small shapes using different die cuts. I’m still new to the whole die cutting and I am finding new ways to explore with this every day and its the perfect size to. I made the perfect choice in this right machine for me.
I love the Big Shot and use it frequently. It is best if one can leave it out and ready for use as it doesn’t fold away for storage or on the go crafting. Bear in mind you may want to add accessories such as magnetic platform, precision cutting plate etc.
Excellent product, does exactly what it says with absolute ease. Its quite heavy and very sturdy, has rubber feet to keep it firmly in place, handle is easy to turn.
I love mine and its fair to say that for card making and other paper crafts it surpasses other similar products.
This is a great machine for cutting fabric for quilting or for doing cards. I use it mainly for quilting projects and its so easy and quick I wouldn’t want to be without it. Grand children use it for doing card and paper projects and spend hours happily entertained.
Saves a lot of hard work, I did find the instructions a bit confusing and had to work it out for myself needs more descriptive pics with instructions. Easy to use

I’ve got other machines but they struggled to cope with my bigz dies especially cutting fabric. I was skeptical it would be improved by the big shot, but am so glad I went for the big shot. It exceeded my expectations
Absolutely love this large size die cutter. I can do so much more with this than with the smaller electric version I also have… although I love that too!
Just still getting the hang of my big shot plus. I love the size but haven’t really put it through its uses yet only used for embossing and die cut. I love it. Only down side is the plates are marking card from dies that I have used before. I don’t know how to solve this problem other than putting a sheet of paper under the plate.
ordered just after xmas, came on new years eve. very easy to put together and have played with it ever since. some dies are a problem to cut but i think its more the die than the machine and a small shim over the affected area works wonders.

The sizzix die cutting and embossing machine is brilliant, if you have the big shot dies you cut can cut all sorts of things like material, mdf even metal. It embosses perfectly and makes so much difference to card making or other crafts you may like doing. Fantastic

I can’t believe the size of this die cutting machine it takes A4 embossing folders – the size means I can cut the bigger size die on the market as well as many of the bigz die range apart from the pro range – making my life a lot more exciting
Finally Sizzix understood to use an appropriate colour for this cutting machine, and that was the reason to buy it.
My little one is still going strong, but I hated the black showing every bit of dust, left bits of paper, etc…
Unfortunately I cannot replace the Pro, to expensive!
machine came next day as expected well packaged only problem the screw to the handle was not correct it was not long enought so i had to go out and buy a pack of srews it took quite a while as the screw size is not a normal screw size whoever packs these items should take cure too pack the right size in future
I already have a Cuttlebug but I needed something to cope with the larger size card making projects. I was not disappointed as it was such a bargain with the adaptor plates included.
Love my Big Shot and now am absolutely delighted with my Big Shot Plus. Has met all my expectations Have had and still have all the other A4 die cutting machines. This is the best.
Cheaper than a second hand one and an amazing purchase.
At first I was reluctant to buy one but it is totally worth it.
Either with embossing folders or with dies, it does the work perfectly.
Need to get some more dies but from what I have used it with so far it is fab. Recommended.
I upgraded from my original big shot to this Big Shot Plus because it cuts an A4 size card and I can cut much more in one go.
It’s a good solid machine.
So far so good. Out of the box there were no clear instructions for which platform to use for fabric. None was required. The platforms are probably used more for card making. Resorted to YouTube and no stopping me now. The handle was very straightforward to attach. Cuts cleanly , accurately and so easy to use! I had minor breast surgery the week before and was able to turn the handle easily with no strain. Happy with my purchase. The downside is the cost of the dies but I was lucky to have some bought for me as birthday gifts.
I like it. Bought it because my other Big Shot was a bit too small. I haven’t really made use of the fact that it is the larger size for cutting. It’s a weighty machine which I bought in the warehouse deals – the box was slightly damaged, so it was a good price. Very happy, just need to find the time to use it fully.
