Why brush your beard?
As your beard grows the skin below your beard produces oils to help the hairs grow. But the skin also replaces itself and needs some help to get rid of any unwanted items. Brushing your beard daily isn’t just about making it look nice, it is essential to exfoliate your skin beneath the beard.
- Brushing your beard may feel harsh at first, this is normal your skin might not be used to it. But by doing it daily you will learn to love it.
- As you brush your beard you will activate the oil production on your face which in turn will help soften your beard.
- Keep brushing at least once a day (but don’t overdo it either) you will clean your skin and beard. Look at your brush to see how much you are cleaning.
- Brushing daily promotes better and more uniform beard growth.
- Brushing your beard while growing a beard helps avoid ingrown hairs.
- Of course, brushing also untangles the beard and makes it look sharper.

I suspect the bristles to be plasticnot natural boar bristles. If sodefinitely not worth a fourth of current pricesimply apply a flame to a bristle after cutting it away. Plastic melts and may driphair curls up fast and has a distinctive bad smell
UPDATEcut a few bristles and lit them upthey burned up exactly like hair doesnot plastic. I guess they are boar bristle. Mine look exactly like the reviewer who posted about glue looking stuff on the bristle ends
Very well made brush. The key being the long stiff boar bristles. I have learn from this manufacturer the importance of brushing daily to achieve control over training facial hair in order to grow a longer and fuller beard that looks good. I bought this to replace my husband’s worn-out boar bristle brush from 37 years ago! This brush was a complete success with him! It is a quality brush, has a lovely wooden handle, boar bristles that are the perfect length, and we finally could throw out the old one, yeah!

If you have a medium length beard (1.5 inches or longer) this brush is just what you need. No complaints and it works perfectly. You can tell this is a quality brush and not just some cheap brush that’ll need replacing soon.
My own personal Santa liked using this beard brush, and it really did have a nice effect on the appearance of his “signature look!” If you’ve never used a beard brush before, I’d suggest taking it easy when you first get started — remember the skin on your face requires gentle care.

The brush is very well made and the bristles are stiff enough that it does a good job against my thick beard. I’ve tried several other brushes but this one is hands down the best.
I found the bristles a little too soft for the hair on my head. I have long hair I normally tie back in a ponytail. The bristles are too soft to penetrate to my scalp. The brush works wonderful on my beard and moustache. And the craftsmanship is very good.

This long-handled brush fits my hand so well, making it easier to go through my beard without tiring my hand. I own both the stiff first cut bristle brush and the soft second cut bristle brush. The soft brush is excellent for smoothing my hair or beard, but the stiff bristles are wonderful for getting through my beard to stimulate the hair follicles. This is my fifth ZilberHaar brush. I am so happy to have this long-handled brush.

This was perfect for my husband! I did a lot of research and this brush is perfect to help prevent ingrown hairs and itchyness. He used to pick at his beard a lot, and now he uses this brush instead and it’s wonderful! His beard looks so much healthier now.

Bought this brush as a replacement for one whose bristles were too weak, and this one is perfect!
String bristles really pull through the hair and reached the skin beneath – really important to ensure oils and balms reach every bit of the hairs and exfoliate the skin as well.
Boar bristle means it holds oils and its strong enough to pull through my beard which is medium but thick and coarse.
Wouldn’t use another brush now.

I am very pleased with this hair brush. I am female with long, fine hair. I need a stiff enough brush to ‘comb through’ my hair, but not bristles that break my hair. This is perfect. Not too soft to comb through my hair effectively (wet or dry) Previously I purchased boar bristle brush that was too soft and the bristles too close together: and it simply would not comb through my hair effectively. I have two of these brushes, one I gave to my brother to use on his beard and one I kept to use on my hair. We both like the brushes and find them to be high quality. I have always preferred boar bristles over plastic ones and like how this brush feels in my hand and in my hair.

Very high quality brush!! The bristles are very stiff, the brush goes through the beard and gets down to the skin perfectly! I don’t think you could buy a better boar hair brush than ZilberHaar.
Ive used a bunch of beard brushes over the years. This one so far is my favorite.
I purchased this boars hair brush for my husband. He has thick hair and a burly beard. This brush helps to spread his natural oils, and softens his hair AND beard. It has also helped tame/train his hair… and looks less messy.
This brush is magic when combined with the soft bristle ZilberHaar travel brush and a Kent comb 12T.
Between those three there is nothing else I need. I’ve used Kent combs for nearly a decade and used a larger boar’s hair brush that belongs to my lady which has shorter bristles and stiffness somewhere between this “long brush” and the “travel brush (soft)”, but these are next level. I was dubious about these to begin with before ordering – beard products and hype are ridiculous in my opinion – but after receiving and using the travel brush for a couple weeks and loving it I went and ordered this one as well. As I said, it’s the perfect combination.
Nothing bad to say price is right quality is top notch, just buy it already…

ZilberHaar Long Hair & Beard Brush – Boar Bristles And Pearwood works on long hair. I needed a new hairbrush for travel and I found this brush which is somewhat smaller than usual. It was intended for use on men’s long hair and beards, so it gets used on a (woman’s) long hair but not on a beard. The brush is carefully made of first-cut boar bristles and pearwood. The wooden handle is so smooth and feels nice in the hand. The boar bristles are definitely on the stiff side and there are plenty of them.
The brush fits well in my travel bag as it is long and narrow. It measures 8.6″ x 1.5″ and can slide into a narrow space. I have used it on my hair and it has done a fine job on it. In the directions, the manufacturer discusses beard care and ignores the use of the brush on hair, long or otherwise. I have cared for the brush the same way I care for hairbrushes at home. After a week of use, it gets a bath and rinse, followed by an air dry. It has done well, so far. So, I have ignored the obvious marketing to men with beards and have found an excellent brush to accompany me on my travels. If you have a similar need and long hair, take a look at this hairbrush.

This is a well-crafted and handsome beard brush with natural boar bristles that distribute oils through the beard to make it gleam.
Brush is well made, in Germany, using pear wood and first cut boar bristles. The wood is a nice rich brown color, and the bristles are stiff.
It’s wonderful to know that ZilberHaar makes a brush with softer boar bristles, as noted on the product page! Great for those with sensitive skin, or perhaps a shorter beard. Turns out that hubby would probably appreciate that one a bit more since he recently trimmed his beard!
My husband says that he recommends this brush if you have a longer beard, not trimmed close to the skin. He feels it is too stiff for his shorter beard and hair, but he likes the look of this brush, and says that the grip is quite comfortable. He will likely opt for the softer bristles mentioned in the product information. Meanwhile, I’ll clean this one and let my bearded son check it out. I’ll update this review if and as needed after he has done so.

This is a full sized handled brush that’s well made and the wood handle is curvy, and very comfortable to hold and use. The natural bristles are just stiff enough and just flexible enough to glide through hair, and they are naturally good to spread out natural oils for a natural shine and healthy look.
This brush would be good for beards, or for people with thinner hair. My husband’s hair has thinned and this is a good brush for his head.

My husband likes this multi-function brush—it does a good job combing his short haircut and brushing through his longer beard. The thin handle and five rows of stiff bristles gives him better control than wider brushes do. He travels a lot—the trim design is easier to pack too. This is a well-made, attractive hairbrush.
This is SUCH a nice brush. Well crafted, the high quality material choice, it all falls into the perfect place it belongs – my husband’s regime. He said it ALWAYS feels good in his grasp and he can’t get over how well it pulls oils through his beard. It really shortens the time it takes to apply and distribute it evenly. Also styles while it does so.

The bristles are stout enough to give you a nice massage, but soft enough to not scrape your skin. It does a great job of pushing your hair where it needs to go, without grabbing and tugging.

I love that it’s made with real wood. Pear wood to be exact. I’ll be using this brush everyday on both my beard and my hair. The boar bristles are not to tough yet are strong enough to make my hair go where directed. It’s a quality brush. Four Stars !!
I use this for my son’s hair, works well when it’s sticking up after he wakes up. It’s not super soft, but it does get the hair laid down nicely. The handle is nice, not a lot of bristles so it works well for his hair, and feels good (and works just as well) on a beard.
If you have a beard that is longer than just your chin area, a longer handled brush helps to brush that hair out. I have used it on my head of hair, but it doesn’t go through to the scalp, so I have to brush in portions. I find the boar bristles a little on the soft side for my hair, but for beards, it will be great.
This is a German product and you know what they say about german made, they take pride on making good quality products. Everything in this brush shows that. The bristles, the wood, the design and how it feels all a products of their good craftsmanship. In a part of the world where you no longer and or hardly can get anything made in USA is good luck to find something made in Germany and not in China.
This brush is a nice medium size, and perfect for travelling as it doesn’t take up much space. It is made out of a lovely wood and boar bristles, and comes in a nice box. It would be best for finer hair or beard, but not so much for thick heavy hair due to the size of the brush. It would make a nice gift and is a very nice brush.

I love this brush because it is so well made but I certainly could use longer bristles because I use this brush my hair. I purchased it with the intent to brush my hair and it works nicely but my hair is long. I would recommend this brush to anyone for their beards and hair if not too thick or long.

I have had the smaller version for years that I use mostly on my beard. I use it to remove dead skin and distribute oil and conditioner. I’m getting ready to do some backpacking and decided I needed a good brush for my hair. After wasting my time looking around I came back to this one. It’s an investment up front but well worth it. I realized I’ve had the smaller version for 3-4 years and it’s still in great shape.
I wanted a beard brush I could use with a hair dryer. My beard can be quite curly and needs straightened with a hair dryer. I have a normal beard brush, but that puts my hands directly in the path of the great. The nice brush handle allows me to brush out my beard without toasting my hand.
As far as quality, this brush is top notch. Beautifully made.
