The best ride ever!
This is the best ride I’ve ever had. Wonderful in any kind of music, you may pull out of it many sounds, as expected from handmade cymbals such the K Custom. Always warm and dark, its outstanding sound is always present, no matter if the band plays mellow or loud. It requires some time before you learn how to exploit its possibilties. It also has beautiful crash properties.
If you come from those industrial cymbals, like some series from Zildjan itself, you could even dislike this one at first, since it is a truly unique old school ride, with few overtones which aren’t too invasive, but that make the sound alive. The bell is amazing: it sounds fat with a great attack. I find this cymbal more responsive if played with a gentle touch, even if that doesn’t mean that you can’t play it loud, by all means. If you are in the market for a ride you can’t go wrong with this one, not to mention that, if you play them properly, any K Custom will become better and better while aging.
Absolutely love this ride. Edge is great for jazz. Bell rings true and can drive a straight beat in the mid sections. Crash even sound big and not too trashy. I pretty amazed after switching from an 80s Ping Ride by Zildjian. Love it.

Upon Close or Far observation this product was an eyesore. It Had Some Visible Tarnishing from a distance and some pitting around the outside edge. Also I had noticed MANY scratches across the entirety of the top. I'm doing with this product something I believe has already been done with it before, Returning. The return Process is simple The Cymbal Sounds Great But I've Spent too much money on my kit for an eyesore so I Have to return and wait the next cymbal out. I'll Update with next cymbal

Awesome you will instantly start to enjoy your cymbals. I’m happy with mine and also got a 17” crash to match.

Great for jazz, funk, blues etc
After a few months with this ride I can say that it’s excellent but not ideal for everyone.
Personally it does exactly what I wanted it for, it’s very dry on the bow, has a pretty solid but dark bell sound and can crash. Great for lower volume playing as the overtone never gets out of control, great for jazz/funk or more intimate gigs. I wouldn’t recommend for rock playing as the high end cut just isn’t there, but for every other style this ride works great and is fun to play. I also love the look, the raw top and brilliant finish underside is a great look in my opinion.
IMHO, the 22 has more going for it than the 20, recognizing that there is variation from cymbal to cymbal. My 22 has a beautiful spread, nice medium-dark stick sound with no strange overtones building up, a great shank and nice crashability. My 20 has significantly lower tone, more wash and basically does less, though it still had a very nice stick sound and crash. The 20s I’ve tried have just been more one-dimensional than my 22, which may not be a bad thing if you like what it does. Either is worth a shot to complement a more complex ride in a jazz pairing.

Keeping in mind that these cymbals are like snowflakes, I'm sure they all sound as good as mine. Very mild sounding bell, easy to control volume while playing, nice wash upon crashing. I play a lot of jazz and this cymbal is dark and chocolatey with good stick definition.

Lovely ride cymbal
Clear, well defined stick sound. Gives dark, warm undertones that wash well, but not uncontrollably.
The crash sound is a bit brashy or trashy, so it accents well. Another fact I disovered is that this cymbal sounds great with light sticks ( or gentle hits) so you can play it “quietly” and still get some great tones.
With so many choices, It seems difficult to find the perfect jazz ride cymbal. The Zildjian K Custom 20-Inch Dark Ride Cymbal is definitely a contender. I really enjoy playing this cymbal.
The best of all
This is the best cymbals that I had. Love them better than all the rest of the Pro Cymbals. The sound is werry komplexe and no to loud. I have the 19″ and 20″ crashes and 21″ Ride, and they sound god with my Meinl sound caster fusion 16″ trash, 19″ Sabian Artisan and othors with that thashi or komplex sound.
They are super.
I've been looking for a 20" ride that offers a lot of stick definition and very little overtone. This cymbal is what I was looking for. It's perfect! It's my third Zildjian "K" ride, and certainly my favorite.

This is the second time I've bought this cymbal. My first one was stolen at a venue. I have never had another ride cymbal that I have loved so much. Perfect ride and crash sounds, but the bell is the real deal on this! Not only does it sound like perfection, it looks amazing, too.

Great sounding ride if you're looking for a bit more "ping" than the regular, non-custom, K ride. Still has some nice, dark undertones going on and I find it still very crashable with a wonderful bell. Overall, it's a very versatile ride that is one of the best sounding I have ever had in almost 30 years of playing.

As someone who plays in a small combo who gigs for background music, this ride is perfect. The overtone resonates through the combo without overpowering and each attack of the stick is defined and heard well by the group. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys jazz, funk, fusion, and some other similar genres.
Here is the best review I can give. I bought this cymbal for my son and every time he takes it out of the house, grown and almost grown men come up to it and oogle. At nearly $400 bucks they know the 15 year old didn’t buy it, so they generally make their way to me going on and on about how awesome the sound is. I feel like I’ve bought my boy a Corvette.
I’ve only had it for awhile, but I do dig this ride. I’ve had a few Zildjian rides in my day (Ping, Medium, Sweet) and now this Hybrid. It does feel like 2 rides in one. You and get a nice softer ride sound and a nice ping-y ride sound just depending on where you hit it. I will say I’m not in love with it’s crash sound. I know ride cymbals are for riding, but I tend to play them a little crash-y. I’ve always liked the Medium Ride for the cash-y quality, even the Sweet ride too. If you’re a crashy-rider, this is still good, but you might want to try one of the others I mentioned.
Hi people, i'm from Brazil and bought the Zildjian K Custom Medium Ride 20'' from the Japan Spirit store here in Amazon.com. The cymbal is just fantastic, i mean, the sound is full of variations and sub-sounds.. The price is great either. I'm fully satisfied. Cymbal recommended and the store either..

Bought this ride new after looking up the best ride cymbals to play jazz with…and this IS that cymbal. If you’ve never played on custom cymbals before I seriously suggest that you shell out the extra cash and get them! I have the Zildjian Dark ride and 10″ splash. The dark tones you get when you play it are sick and the 20″ ride carries some serious power when hit like a crash! So awesome…almost in love with it in a creepy way!! Lol highly suggest it to a beginner or an expert!
