Used for powering a 3 phase belt sander of a single phase 240v supply.
Takes a bit of head scratching to get going but once you get it, it’s fairly obvious. It’s a Chinese make and instruction but I can’t fault it.

I bought this to replace one that was not quite powerful enough for the job. i.e don’t buy a 2.2 kw inverter for a 2.2 kw motor. You need some overhead and this unit supplies easily at over 4 kw. This is the 2nd and more powerful version of this family I bought and both work identically. I am using this to convert a 3 phase lathe to single phase 230V supply. I had to get another motor to do this since the one on the lathe was 415 V only due to it having a special two speed winding configuration, which was not going to work, but I digress. This inverter works a treat on my new single speed 6 pole 2.2 kw motor and the lathe will be back up and in service soon. There’s lots of help on the web for this inverter, in particular with the configuration of the control inputs (the single sheet instruction manual is a little light on detail over this). You can configure the control to require a permanent connection to make it run the motor, or a momentary on and off control line by configuring the inputs appropriately. This makes it simple in that you don’t have to make your own zero Volt switch arrangement. One negative feature is that you cannot make a failsafe emergency stop using just the inputs. You have to make an active connection of two pins to make it emergency stop, rather than breaking a contact to perform this function. This feature seems to be the same pretty much throughout with all the cheaper end devices like this one, but you shouldn’t let that put you off. You should note also that you can configure this device to bring your motor to a rapid halt without a braking resistor. If you want however to control this inverter via remote control type CNC control, this is possible and there are input terminals to do this, but it isn’t covered on the single sheet manual and I couldn’t find much on the internet to help me on that front. Similarly for using the on-board relay, which I guess some owners might like to use to control a stop and run indicator lights. I didn’t want to use either of these features so it wasn’t a problem. These inverters are cheap and cheerful and so far have been excellent purchases for me and I would buy another based on what I have found so far. Let’s hope it works well and for a good long time. These devices will not be required to perform heavy duty work (I’m a hobby lathe user), and they should give me many years of use in that way.
