I have wanted once of these for some time, and it makes lighting a BBQ a pleasure and entirely predictable. Stuff the bottom with a load of scrunched up newspaper, turn it over and fill with charcoal. Light the paper through the small holes in the bottom. Twenty minutes later it is ready and very hot. Carefully pour out the coals and the BBQ is ready for cooking. No smelly firelighters or fuel needed.

Super easy to use. Had no trouble in getting the coal hot. However the thicked chunks did not light up properly. Maybe I did not leave them enough time. Suffice to say 14 minutes and the BBQ was ready.

The GFTIME Chimney Starter has transformed our barbecue experience. Our results are now consistently great instead of iffy. In fact, my husband now enjoys barbecues so much, he suggests them. This would never have happened before our chimney starter came into our lives.

If you like to stand around for an unnecessary amount of time, worry about whether the coals are hot enough, and constantly blow air into your fire, then this product isn’t for you. Best thing I’ve bought in a long time. You literally just pile in coals, light a fire underneath and just leave it for 15 or so minutes and bam.. Hot coals

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAs my partner seems to have been born without the caveman gene, I bought him a BBQ chimney as part of his birthday present. I will admit we were both a bit skeptical however…it lit with such ease that was thought it was beginners luck. The heat that was generated from it in a matter of seconds was amazing, and we sat out in the garden watching magic happen!!
Within 20 minutes we were able to cook on it and amazingly the food didn’t burn, it seemed to cook evenly.

We were so pleased with it and have had several BBQs since, well, why not, it’s so easy now! I truly wish I’d bought one of these earlier, as it may have prevented the previous BBQ being thrown across the garden in frustration!

Now my other half can be heard shouting “Man make fire!”

The absolute business. Could never get the charcoal evenly warm on our bbq. This makes it hot as hot and lovely and even heat across the bbq. Highly recommended.

By putting a handle and part-floor on a can, you have a product for which people will pay a premium! This product worked perfectly, so my BBQ required a single match instead of a dozen. It took about 25 minutes to arrive at the white charcoal stage. Basically, light and forget. If only I’d bought one earlier …

No doubting the sturdiness of the product, though competition should bring the price significantly lower over time.

I’ve never owned one of these before, but it is really good for putting stuff in and setting fire to it.
Can be used to light Barbecues or other things that have burnable stuff in them, can be used to burn the souls of your enemies if you are that way inclined.

No enemies souls were burned in the writing of this review.

This starter is great. In the past, we have used smaller chimneys but going for a slightly larger one has changed how we BBQ. Air holes going up the side of the chimney help airflow and we find that the charcoal evenly heats up throughout. The key thing we have been most impressed with is the speed. We feel the coal heat faster and require less effort to get going in the first place.

    All in all excellent product.

Good value for money cheaper that the weber, and it’s the right size for a medium bbq, the down side is the handle is in plastic so it doesn’t resist high temperatures so don’t close the lid of the bbq when heating the charcoal and the grill.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDid not believe the hype but after first use I was hooked, I found that once you start to see orange flames come out of the top then most of the coal’s will have turned white. Larger than I imagined, If you have a shredder then you’ll always have the material to start your bbq, if not then any magazine or paper will be fine. Only downside is the ash and where to place to cool as it will easily burn fingers and grass depending where you leave to cool. Plenty of videos of how to use on YouTube, but if I can get results anyone can. Happy bbq.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had never used one of these before so was intrigued. I light it with a small firelighter in the bottom (I had seen video on YouTube showing a bit of screwed up paper being enough to light it but I didn’t find this reliable) and pouring lumpwood charcoal over the top. Approx 20 mins later it is like a mini furnace and you can tip the coals into your barbie. It does get hot as you can imagine but you can pick it up using the 2 handles but you need to hold away for fear of singeing body hair etc. I use it all the time now and cant see any difference to the more expensive Weber branded version.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersLike the internet, mobile phones, pausing live TV, and wine – this is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you tried it, and now there’s no turning back!

I found this completely by accident while browsing Amazon for new BBQ accessories. I didn’t know what it was, how it worked, or what it did and to be honest it took me 10 minutes and a YouTube video to figure it out. I’m not an idiot, I’d just never conceived that such a thing existed (or maybe I am an idiot?)

For those in the same boat I was: You turn it upside down, stuff the bottom with old newspaper, turn it back upright, fill it with charcoal, set the newspaper on fire, leave it 20 minutes, pour it into the barbecue and… HEY PRESTO… one easy and evenly burning BBQ ready for cooking.

    It’s simple and genius.

I did a bit of research before buying this one. I know that the original (and apparently best) version is made by Weber. If we had more that 3 days sunshine a year and I didn’t use a Gas BBQ most of the time, I might have stumped up the extra cash from the Weber. However, I chose this one because it had good reviews and was reasonably cheap in comparison – i have no regrets, it’s been used 4 times and still in great condition.

The greatest things for BBQ’s since fire itself? Maybe…

I have found this a great tool to start a charcoal BBQ. I was using an electric looflighter (very good) but with this it is even easier load the chimney pop a BBQ lighter under it and wait 10 mins. The chimney holds enough fuel for a BBQ grill or even cooking meats on in direct heat in my green egg. For very long slow cook you may need to add more fuel once you have tipped the lighting fuel into your BBQ.

Be sure to use protective gloves when tipping the red coals into your BBQ!

I use with a ‘big green egg’ and can get my egg to 200 faster than my Neff electric oven.

    Very happy with the produc
