Pole cutter has good extending reach and cuts well
A little heavy at the blade end but still very usable
Only gripe is that it doesn’t fold in half which makes it harder to transport.

It works well trimming hedges etc, but it’s biggest drawback is heavy and your arms soon get tired trimming hedges. If it was half the weight I would of giving it 5 stars.

This is a handy tool to have for when your hedges are overgrown and you cannot get to the backs of them.
It’s a bit too heavy for the likes of me but it’s ok for a man too handle it.
The instruction manual says not to let the battery run completely out as it could end up damaging it, manufacturers should add information on how/where to replace batteries.
The actual use of the hedge trimmers are great to use at different angles.

I was a tad sceptical when I ordered this being cordless but I was pleasantly surprised. It is I think the lightest pole trimmer out there.
I am in my late sixties, my electric pole trimmer is now far too heavy for me now even at a short extension. This cordless trimmer I could manage even at full extension even off a ladder, but not for too long before resting a minute or two.
As for the cutting, it cut well. I have laurel and hawthorn hedges of about eight foot high. While it cut well, it cant be rushed and take time to rake off the debris off the top regularly to make cutting easier.
Battery life I found was very good but I didn’t time it. Not sure how long a fully changed battery will last for after 12 months of use. One good point is the unit comes I two peices for easy storage. Must get the pins and notches lined up and hand tighten the joint
Overall I was pleased with my purchase.

We needed to find a battery operated hedge trimmer to replace our corded one. It was becoming increasingly difficult to cut our tall conifer hedge using stepladders and trailing a lead. Several times the lead got cut during hedge cutting and the odds were getting shorter on a serious accident occurring!
This tool was easy to put together and to fully charge (1 hour) and I was able to cut the whole hedge with plenty of charge remaining. It was easy to use and the result was a better and more uniform cut due to the length of the blade and the ability to pivot the blade to angle the cut to do the top of the hedge.
The freedom of working without being precariously balanced at the top of a stepladder with a trailing lead was a real plus. This tool was very reasonably priced too and I am really pleased with it.

I am very pleased with this pole cutter and glad I bought it. It is lightweight enough for my needs and cuts well within it’s limits, it cannot be exected to cut through the thicker branches that a petrol cutter would. You have to be aware that it is a little top heavy but that is not surprising. The switches are well placed on the handle and it is easy to operate. I have recommended it to others.

It is quite light to hold and the movable head is good for rounding the top of bushes/trees It runs for about 30 minutes on the battery, and then takes roughly 1 hour to charge so a good piece of kit. I would recommend to others . 5*****

Not used this yet, due to bad weather. Looks the part though, sturdy too. Good choice of cutting angles and easy to put together. Only very slight downer is that for small or not so strong folk may find a little heavy. In all fairness no good being any lighter,or would be weak in itself. Will add to this once used it.

Dilemma for me was to go corded or non corded? I chose this because I have only a 6m length of neighbours growth overhanging my garden. Putting it together was straight forward but I needed to add some lube in the plastic sleeve to allow me to push the two parts together. like other reviews I find this top heavy but not alarming so. Battery is fine but I’ve not used it for more than ten minutes but it recharged quickly. Feels secure but getting the sheath over the blade is a little challenging. Still, currently happy with this purchase.

Having read all the reviews, I decided to purchase this item as I needed a hedge trimmer and that’s exactly what I got! This is fantastic and does the job. Yes it is quite heavy, but I managed (lots of rest breaks). We have a large garden with plenty of overhanging bushes etc., and got everything cut back in one go as the battery life lasted so long. I would have no hesitation in buying this again.

For a cordless pole hedge trimmer under 100, this is actually hard to beat. Battery life is excellent compared to what some people on here have said and its cutting ability pretty good. It so nearly gets a 5 star, but it has one let down that for me drops the score. I only bought it because DeWalt that I normally use don’t do a pole trimmer and the Bosch that I was going to buy at twice the price had gone from next day delivery to sometime in about a month over a space of just 36 hours, and having parted company with our gardener who used to do this for us, I needed to cut the hedge before it got completely out of hand.

So first its positives. For a battery that is tiny, it took only two full charges to completely trim a 250 ft, 10 ft high mixed hedge. It gave me about 1hr 30 on the first charge which was enough to do all of the sides and then after less than an hour on charge gave me another 1 hr 15 which was enough to do the top (which is ~ 6 ft across). At the end of that the battery level indicator still read 2 bar so I reckon there was another 20-30 mins left.

Its cutting power is pretty good. Technically it will cut through 14 mm as per the specifications but only if the 14 mm is something really soft. The teeth will open that far but it doesn’t have enough grunt to cut through 14 mm of wood stem. I think the best I managed in a single cut was about 8 mm but by working gently from the side I got it through about 12 mm or so. It went through the upper stems of the hedge like a knife through butter; in fact the only bit that it really struggled with was some bind weed that was all entangled into about 6 ft of the hedge at one end and although it cut through, it was all interlinked and wouldn’t easily fall away.

At minimum length, it’s easy to use and anyone with half reasonable fitness will be able to swing it around all day. At full extension however it is quite heavy and unwieldy, but then so are all pole hedge trimmers. It’s got a dirty great electric motor and 0.5 m of cutting blade on the end of nearly 2 m of extension pole, so yes, it’s going to be a wee bit heavy. That wouldn’t in itself be an issue, if the shoulder strap worked, but it is useless. As soon as any weight comes on it it just slips down to full extension and takes none of the weight. Is it a major issue? Not once you work out how long it needs to be and then run it through a sewing machine with a gate stitch and fix it in place, but that assumes that only one person is going to use it and you shouldn’t need to do it.

So it’s a shame that the strap that probably only cost 1 or so to make lets the overall product down, but for everything else its certainly a very worthwhile purchase.

Nice adjustable length, not particularly heavy, seems well made and battery lasts pretty well.

Just the job for those difficult to reach hedge bits though you will need the supplied neck strap as when extended it can be difficult to manoeuvre. Seems to cut well but does not cope too well with branches/twigs over the spec size, in other words it will cut up to the size given by the manufacturer but struggles at that limit and won’t go beyond that.

After reading reviews of various different ones I opted for this one. I have a petrol one but wanted something light and telescopic to reach my neighbors very high portion of the hedges.
I had read a review that said you get about 15 mins use… Well I had around half hour cutting the other day and it worked a treat for the high hedge, not too heavy but you wouldn’t want to be doing it all day!
I then checked battery(after about 8 mins) still showing full so went and tidied up part of the rear hedge, then went back the next day and went along my front hedge which is about 40 ft. It wasn’t horrendous, but needed a trim, although the top of a out 12ft of it had grown 2ft so they came off easily. (3 of the 5 lights still on) so I went up a side, only about 20ft but trimming away, and occasionally up high to remove conifer from next door which is aloud to go wild. The andle adjuster is so easy to use … Just push button, angle where you want and release and it locks. My only gripe but not an issue is the said 16mm cut.. if it’s green fresh stalks it will do it, but it defi5 wouldn’t cut through branches that have seasoned if you know what I mean, but rather would jam. Then you just have to free it and carry on. Not a problem for me as those areas I would and will just use the loppers.

Overall I’m very pleased so far with this product, and would recommend if you have a high enough hedge.. obviously as it is long when it’s short lol, so if you don’t need the hight it’s not for you, but if you do I think you will love it.

Great trimmer and well balanced if lifting straight above head. Unfortunately the controls are at the bottom of the handle so when extended it can be hard to balance and start the trimmer at the same time as they are so far away.
When using the trimmer normally (non extended) it is very heavy and hard to use. Would be nice if the extender bit could be removed to make the handle closer to the body of the trimmer for closer work.
All said, great trimmer for price but heavy.

I’d had this trimmer for just over a year and it had done a hard season’s work. Just out of the warranty period the cutting blade stopped moving, while the motor was still going full speed. Contacted the seller to see what might be done, although I was resigned to binning it – it was out of warranty and not an expensive, top of the range item.
Immediate response from seller was “Send it back, we’ll fix it … and here’s a postage paid return label”.
Boxed it up, sent it off and had it back today – just four days later! Outstanding customer service.

Already have a smaller hedge trimmer, (use that on the sides of my hedge) but getting to the top of my 7 foot high hedge was a nightmare, this has sorted that! Well enough made, feels robust, some people in the comments mentioned the 2 connecting pins that have broken, erm but if you treat this with care it’s no problem, and why would you want to take it apart anyway?

I’s easy to store in a shed, garage, conservatory.

Once again well worth the money! Better than paying 50 to get my hedge trimmed by someone else.

  51. Mandy Walker says:

The trimmer is good quality and battery life. It is easy to assemble and east to use. Saves a lot of time by not having to use the shears to trim the hedges. A very good product.

  52. FabianJarman says:

The trimmer arrived quickly and I was initially concerned, as the box was in tatters. However, it all seemed OK inside and was easy to assemble. It coped well with up to 15mm diameter branches on our evergreens but baulked at anything over this.

The battery lasted well and still had plenty of charge after an hour’s running. As others have said, the trimmer is heavy and you definitely need the shoulder strap supplied.

However, I have issues with the instruction book. The page giving advice about faults, causes and troubleshooting seems to be a ‘cut and paste’ job from another product which may be a chainsaw? Advice to ‘check that the chain is fitted in reverse’ or that ‘the oil tank cover is not closed’, don’t seem right for the trimmer?

So, it seems well able to do the job and worth the four stars I have given, but the instruction book needs attention.

Haven’t tried the trimmers yet so can’t say how well they work. However, assembling the two main sections was very difficult. There’s an interconnecting tube with the electrical connections that needs to be pushed together about 4 inches. It just wouldn’t insert more than an inch no matter how hard I tried and with the weight at either end of the poles this was even more difficult. In exasperation I gave both ends a good squirt of WD40 and hey presto it slid together with no problem. Why, oh why, can’t the very skimpy and useless instructions just say to do that??

  55. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

I can’t vouch for the trimmers longevity as I haven’t had it that long but overall I think it’s good value. Whenever you see reviews for these long reach trimmers the complaint is that they are heavy, at 3.5kg I don’t think this is any heavier than any other. Your arms will ache after 15 minutes of use no matter how much you’ve paid. I just wanted to avoid using a stepladder on soft ground and this did the trick. I bought it to tame an unruly conifer hedge, obviously the thicker pieces needed something other than this. Charges quickly and battery life seems good too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLike all cordless hedge trimmers this one is heavy, but then all cordless trimmers are. Power from the 20 volt battery is excellent you can trim a very long hedge on one charge, and it soon charges up on it’s dedicated charger, it’s almost as powerful as my corded hedge trimmer it cuts well and extends and the head can be turned to cut the top of the hedge. What a bargain cheaper than any cordless trimmer I could find and almost all of them you had to buy a battery and charger for them. Excellent value for money. Quite heavy so no easy to use when fully extended but using the sling makes it easier. It was easy to put together and seems safe in that it won’t work unles properly assembled and stable. My conifers look much nicer now with a clean, flat edge. Very pleased with the quality of this machine, it works extremely well, and so far has managed to cut hedging with quite thick stems. I agree with other reviewers that once it is fully extended it does take some strength to operate but I cannot envisage how this could be improved, however, it is very useful in cutting at the height this machine is capable of.

Great product at a good price. In particular the fast charge is useful compared to other products that take several hours, also it is longer and with a longer trimmer than many others. 2 minor gripes: it’s difficult to separate the two halves after use, still haven’t quite figured out how that works as I can never recall the precise sequence needed to break it down. Secondly, and this is a small problem on very many battery pole trimmers – there’s no handle for your left hand so controlling the weight at full extension is more difficult. In my case, I’ve just fit it with an old brushcutter handle which is perfect. But overall, I’d definitely recommend it (and buy a brushcutter handle for a fiver from ebay!!)

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSurprisingly good. I can honestly say that I was not expecting it to be this Good. It was capable of cutting through thorn hedging of the same diameter as our petrol hedge trimmer and the battery did allow you to cover quite a large section of hedging before recharging. It is true to say, as other reviews have stated that due to the electric motor being sited at the cutting blades, that it can be abit heavy if the machine is not used with the handle being in a more horizontal position. I think that the weight of the machine and the battery’s duration are pretty well balanced for most users.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersThe hedge trimmer was simple to put together. Once the battery was charged the trimmer worked well and was able to reach the parts we needed it to.

There is a minor draw-back, in that the cutting head gets a bit heavy and unwieldy when the pole is extended. However, this consequence of having an extended reach cannot be avoided.
