Easy to assemble, although instructions are poor, not the thickest wood used, definitely thinner than the old ones I replaced, no sure they will last the 15 years we had the last pai

I bought two of these on sale as part of the Prime Day discount so I received 35% off and free next day delivery. Terrific!

    DELIVERY. Score: 5/5
Let’s start with something super positive. Driver was spot on schedule with the app’s suggested time. Fantastic friendly gent. He arrived in a very clean and well organised vehicle. One box arrived with a slight tear (2 inch long) and not through the box so nothing that would suggest damage.

    UNPACKING. Score: 5/5
The components are really well packed. No foam bits – just a good economical use of cardboard and some strong zip-bags which can be re-used for other things.

    COMPONENTS. Score: 5/5
All were easily identified and quality. There are no extras and each item is integral to the build. Should you loose one while assembling the chair you’ll have to hunt down the missing piece which I don’t know if that’s easy to do or not from the company. The tools for the job are provided and they work well.

    INSTRUCTIONS. Score: 3/5
Thankfully the notes they give on the sheet fill the gaps where the Ikea-like drawings fail. The drawings alone are difficult to follow – I used the written instructions and that worked. Having a bit of assembly knowledge will help fill in the gaps otherwise it may take a bit of time to figure it out. Not such a Beginner level project fast job – more an Intermediate level fast job.

    ASSEMBLY. Score: 5/5 (Chair 1) and 1/5 (Chair 2)
When it works it works well. The first chair was really easy to assemble. I was working outside in a high wind and with a very uncomfortable strained back so that slowed progress down so about 30 minutes from unboxing to sitting in the chair with a favourite beverage could be achievable.

    HOWEVER ….

Chair no. 2 was a very different story. One of the pre-drilled holes in the back piece of the chair was not allowing me to connect it to the seat. This is an integral connection. The hole was drilled slightly lower than the bolt which feeds through the dowel that connects the two. The dowel is not the strongest and any prying on it will split the wood. I used a scriber to gouge out the the depth I needed PLUS the height to gain a truer alignment. It took a second pair of hands to hold the fastener in place and then it was an hour of trail and error until we finally got the bolt to catch onto the fastener and pull the entire back and seat into position and lock it into place. Before the second set of hands arrived I worked on this for over an hour and a half. I was so frustrated I called Amazon to return the chairs because the pre-drilling of the holes were so off. Luckily the second crack at it with some force to shimmy the pieces into alignment worked – so I called off the return. But people need to be aware that there may be a bit of sweat you need to invest if something is not lining up.

    RETURNS. Score: 5/5
Amazon was terrific here. The online chat worked effortlessly and we were able to cancel the return without a problem. Once they pass you through their bot (they are fully transparent that you will be with a bot for a while) then the agents will speak to you on the phone or online. I did both and both were efficient.

    THE CHAIR. Score: 4/5
The chairs for the sale price are very good value. Given the rising cost of things its hard to give an accurate cost of their build to retail price point but I know that I was going to build these from scratch myself but after pricing out the wood/ oil/ and fasteners plus fuel to drive around and get – there is no way I could build these for the price offered here. I’ll personalise the chairs by adding a dutch oil treatment to them.

They are super sturdy. We have cut a patch on our land and have the chairs sitting on strimmed grounds where bracken, ferns and ivy were growing. They sit on undulating surface but seemed to have found a firm footing from about two hours of sitting in them.

As I mentioned I have a uncomfortable strained lower back and sitting in these chairs for 45 minutes in one sitting and about 1:15 in another the pain floats away. The anthropometrics of the chair (for us anyways) feels ideal. And placing your arms onto the wide and sturdy paddle arm rests is just a lovely position. Leaning back you can find your head is supported by the tall back. The curve in the chair also makes for some lovely comfort. This is all WITHOUT the optional cushion.

Unfortunately there are some imperfections – stain missing, a small area on the exposed side where it looks like too much stain was spilled and dried in a puddle, wood marks and small chips. If this would be in real life shopping I may be proud that I found a bargain in the discontinued section – and got lucky.

    FOLDING. Score: 5/5
The chairs fold and this is easy. They stay locked in place when you transport them and are easy to move around. A bit bulky – remember they are wood and not plastic or canvas so expect it to bit like carrying a wood pallet around – except not as heavy.

    TWO WORDS OF CAUTION
In assembling the chair one may find having to work blindly underneath the seat. Be aware that there is a pin attached to a brass “chain-linky” thing which will hold the wood pegs which locks the chair in its seat position. This piece of metal can be razor sharp and you will come across it because you have to feed a bolt into the seat which hides just above and behind where this item is. If not careful there is the possibility to cut one self or damage a nice watch.

    and

The colour was very different from the photos – much darker and browner. We were lucky because it fits into our environment with no problem but others looking to fit into a colour scheme may be disappointed.

    ADDITIONAL POINTS
Some additional points about the product:
    1. It is slightly narrower than what I am used to in this style of chair but having said that it is still roomy.
    2. The paddle arm rests also are a bit narrower than what I am used to but that is not to say they don’t “work”. We easily had a glass on one and burgers on a plate on the other. Eating was easily done and we look forward to it every evening.

We are happy with our choice. Again the discount really sold it for us. I think at full price I would have sent them back. Where we live the weather is very hard on things so we figure it faces damage in the near future anyways. This is a head start on the aging and patina of the chairs. Like the title says this is one of those purchases where you found what you’ve been looking for for a long time is in the discontinued section of a shop and your happy to go home with a few imperfections because of the money saved.

Great chair. Looks great. Exactly what I wanted looks wise and was good value compared to others. Appears to be well oiled – hopefully will stand up to the elements. Great so far. Will probably just put it away for winter. Issues with some of the holes not being adequately drilled which caused a few issues with the first one – I was ready for this on the second. One of the instructions was a bit ambiguous and we went wrong. Luckily it was one of the fixings that could be easily removed and changed. Definitely needed a two people and relatively strong ones at that.

I’d previously purchased and returned Adirondack chairs from another company as they were poor quality. These chairs were a similar price and are fantastic. It took us about 45 minutes to assemble the first one; there are clear instructions and everything is labelled. Once made, they are extremely comfortable; I thought we might need cushions but we don’t. I’ve given 4 stars for sturdiness only because they shift a little when getting in and out, but I suspect this is because they are foldable. I’d buy more if we had a. Ivermectin garden!

These chairs are just as I hoped they’d be. Assembly was tricky in places but easier with chair 2! Comfort is good, cushions make it even better. Looking forward to the better weather to enjoy having them in my garden.
I must praise the customer service of this company. It is outstanding. I had a query and it was dealt with immediately.
    Thank you.

Used as additional garden seating easily folded for storage. Extra coat of oil added before use for extra protection, as oiling of chairs on arrival seemed to be well soaked in. Very pleased with the chairs.

I emailed the company to let them know and within a couple of days the replacement arrived.
    Very impressed with the service.

Ever since my son got a couple of very expensive adirondack chairs, I have been seriously considering getting some myself. As I needed 3 chairs, I was looking for value (I even thought about making them myself but sourcing good wood and making them correctly was going to be expensive and time consuming) and quality and this was proving difficult.
I saw these chairs on Amazon, and with a discount voucher, they were within the price bracket for me. The reviews were great and in particular, they reported that the chairs weathered very well.
My only experience so far is with assembling one of the chairs and examining the build quality and the quality of the wood. So this is what I will comment on :
    1. Assembly was very easy. The nuts/bolts/washers are all in individual numbered bubbles of a blister pack, so you can readily see the components required for each step. The written instructions were excellent and they referred to the blister pack numbers. The diagram for the instructions suffered from being a photocopy of a photocopy too many times and was hard to decipher – but the written instructions more than made up for this. I did the assembly on the kitchen table, and this eliminated any need to bend down – made the process enjoyable, and I differed from the instructions in the final steps by fully attaching one arm before commencing the other (the instructions were to attach the rear of both arms before attaching the fronts – but my way was better).
    2. The build quality is excellent. Everything fits together easily and correctly and although it is not Ikea perfect it is very much precision cut and pre-drilled. The resulting chair is solid and strong and sits perfect on a flat floor. In comparison with my son’s much more expensive (approx 3 times more expensive) chairs, they are a little lighter but just as sturdy and they may be a little smaller (not certain of that last point). They also have a better folding mechanism (and that’s my son’s opinion).
    3. I am delighted with the Wood Quality. I was a little nervous of this before I saw the chairs. In my experience of garden furniture, there seems to be a lot of variation in the quality of the wood in hardwood furniture. These chairs seem to have the same wood that is in my 15+ year old garden dining chairs which are still going strong – and that’s a very strong sign of good wood quality. The wood is smooth, close grained and feels well polished (probably the result of the oiling). The colour is great – golden brown.
I will assemble the remaining two chairs before next spring, ready for use when the weather improves. I expect them to need a treatment of hardwood oil in midsummer and then again at the end of the summer, before all will be put in storage for the winter months. I’m pretty sure they will last for a long time and still look good in the garden in many years time. Would thoroughly recommend them, even though I’ve only had them a few days.

Quite pleased with the two of these chairs we ordered. We already had Adirondack chairs on the patio and wanted two more fir further upnthe garden. These have the edge in that we can fold them up and put them away for winter rather than rely on covers not blowing off.

They need som assembly and I did find som of the hardware provided was poor quality but it all went together OK and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The only real criticism here is the rather essential security pins that stop it folding do fall out of their holes rather easily but re awkward to get at when unfolding the chairs. As, for our use, they will only be folded once every Autumn that is not a big issue.

We have found this type of chair to be among the more comfortable of garden furniture and with a padded cushion they are perfect to while away a summer afternoon.

I ordered two of these to add to two that we’ve had for about five years now. The quality is excellent, the wood looks beautiful but will fade and silver a bit over time. For me the chairs are so comfortable, my wife doesn’t find them so comfortable but we have now bought the matching cushions which work well for her, I prefer without the cushions. The fact that they fold up is great for storage. The first chair didn’t take long to be put together however the second had one hole drilled to deep and one to shallow and so it took a lot longer to put together as I first had to work out what was wrong and then work around it with additional washers etc. It was annoying but didn’t detract from the comfort and quality of these chairs.

Very high quality. Packaging was brilliant and both chairs were well protected and secured.
The presentation of the screws and fixings was amazingly good, clearly identifiable and the assembly instructions were clear. I think they should be promoted as an example of very best practice .
My only suggestion to improve them is to may be consider doing no2 before no.1 as then one can carefully lay the side down on a floor and not have gravity causing the washer to move as much when fixing the arms.

So happy I bought this chair! Really good quality wood and patio looks great with it. instructions to assemble are not super easy, I mean we are all used to ikea simple instructions… so in comparison these were a bit trickier … but if you take 5 minutes to observe the steps on paper and all the screws you have before jumping into assembling it then it will be straightforward.
It’s so comfortable to sit on! Also the wide armrests make no need for a coffee table as they are wide enough to hold a drink, a plate or book! love it!

This is a really nice garden chair. It looks good, it feels sturdy, and for the price it’s well worth having. We got a particularly good deal, but anything around 130-140 ish is still decent value in my opinion.

The only negative was the assembly, which wasn’t as clear and easy as Ikea but still ok with a bit of common sense. I also found I needed to tighten the factory screws/bolts as well as the self-assembly ones.

I would recommend getting the matching footstool (particularly if you’re on the shorter side otherwise your legs will dangle over the front because the seat is fairly reclined!) which makes it even more comfortable and a pleasure to sit in.

Firstly this is a lovely seat. I haven’t used the foldup function yet, no need to until autumn/winter.
Assembly instructions are clear and easy to follow. I did need an extra hand building it.
I also ordered the matching small table. A good set all round.

The first one I was sent was damaged, the seller sent another to me within a few days, top-notch service from these guys.
To be fair the assembly can be a struggle for one person, holding sections as you screw in other parts.
It comes with all the screws you need and tools to screw the screw.

It is beautiful and comfortable, but does have problems with assembly. I have experience in furniture assembly, but I made the first step in a wrong way, and found it only at the last step. It was tricky to fix. And the holes for fixators on the very last step at the left side are not coaxial, and I cannot put one of the fixators in. The right side is fine. Actually, they both are not needed. I like the chair, it is great for its price.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWe have had these for 6 months now and them seem to be OK. We previously had some bespoke Adriondack chairs made by a friend which were much more robust and these seem to be a lot more light weight but they have survived the first 6 months. Assembly was easy enough though I seem to remember having to use some bluetack to keep some bits in the right place during assembly but nothing too problematic. I am having a little trouble with the locking pins not staying in place as the locking pin and chain tends to fall out after a while and I may have to come up with my own solution but otherwise the chair is performing as required. It has been outside in the rain quite a lot and seems to be surviving well though only time will tell; this is what did for the previous chairs so we shall see – at the moment they are packed away in a shed for winter.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI wrote a review of this chair when I first bought it. It is now more than three years since I bought two of them. I am still overall very pleased with them. Two points I would note. Firstly they could be a little more rigid than they are. The frame can be a bit squeegee until manually shaped. Just a little shoogly. Second, I do think it’s important to regularly treat the wood with oil. I left it to weather naturally as I like the silvery effect however this was a mistake. It caused some cracks in the wood and dried out the wood so that it became brittle. The result was some of the seat slats split under the pressure of my weight (admittedly 16 stone). Had I oiled them this is unlikely to have happened. I glued the split pieces together, reinforced them (and all the ones that hadn’t split on the seat) with a slightly smaller wooden slat glued and screwed to the bottom of each slat, and rescrewed them to frame. The slat reinforcements cannot be seen from above. I treated the whole seat with a nourishing clear oil.

Given these reservations, I would still recommend them. I live in Scotland at the coast and they are out all year in all weathers. With a little more care I hope to get some years out of them yet. They are still good value for money and are both visually and anatomically pleasing.

Chair arrived, well packed, two days from (free p&p) purchase. It was straightforward to put together, taking about half an hour in total. I am really impressed with the quality: the wood is smooth and sturdy; the fittings are made of brass and easily secured with the tool provided. I was a little worried about the colour of the wood, but this was unnecessary; the colour is beautiful! So finally, I sat in it, and it is as comfortable as everyone reports. This is a great chair and I’m really happy with it!

The instructions are clear enough and actual assembly is easy, around 20 minutes per chair. Usually washers are tricky on hardwood furniture, but in this case there is a recess to sit the washer in so it is not at all fiddly. They look great on our new patio.

I’ve alway hankered after one of these. Saw one in my local garden centre and tried it for size. Very comfortable. Their price for one in softwood wasn’t a whole lot cheaper than this. Well designed and very clear instructions with the hardware pack for self assembly nicely thought out and parts numbered in a blister pack. You would have to be an octopus to assemble one single-handed so have your assistant ready for the job. I am going to give mine a light coating of Danish Oil to help it withstand the vagaries of the British weather. A good value purchase and very very comfortable.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love this chair. I already have an Adirondack made for me by a Canadian ex years ago, thought it was the comfiest one ever until I sat in this one. I am very pleased with it. It was straightforward to assemble but I will say that they illustrated “Step 5” wrong, parts 9 and 10 should have their positions swapped, I thought the inner hole had been drilled too narrow but the diagram is wrong, no biggie, but you would be forgiven for thinking it had to go back. Make sure you don’t tighten the rear of the arms before you’ve finished attaching the fronts. Great chair, I’m going to buy another.

I’ve always wanted some of these chairs and I am very pleased with the quality of these. They are absolutely as comfortable as everyone says and I’m looking forward to sitting in them all summer.

They are fairly straightforward to put together – each one took about half an hour, and one person can do it though it is a bit fiddly with the washers on the H section. I decided I didn’t particularly like the oiled brown finish, although I am sure they would have weathered to look more like the photo, so I have stained mine ash black, which looks really smart.

The folding design really works well, so they can go in the shed over winter – although they are hardwood, I don’t see any point in leaving them sitting through the winter rain.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThese chairs are beautiful and well made for sure. The instructions are useless however and whilst I had no difficulty putting the chairs together because its common sense; the instructions actually made it more complicated. To be honest, the chairs could be pre-assembled at source and sent in the same box to save people messing with washers etc. I found that removing the cross beam on the legs helped get the washers in between the legs and the seat. Other people have used masking tape it would seem to keep the washers in place. Either way, this could have been done in the factory.

Oiled the chairs after advice from the seller who couldn’t be more helpful using B&Q own brand teak oil to keep them protected over winter and into summer. Incredibly comfortable and don’t move and inch. I’m 100Kg+ 6ft 1″

Will buy again if I need more because acacia wood is far better than softwood pine, fir or spruce for the wet UK weather. The seller is incredibly helpful also should any advice be required.

    Beautiful and excellent quality

We bought two of these last year and love them. They fold easily and don’t take up much storage space in the shed.
In use, they re-assemble easily and are comfortable and supportive of the lower back, even without a cushion.
I especially like the broad paddle armrests, so handy for balancing drinks containers, sunglasses, books etc.
I had to contact the supplier having lost one of the pegs and was very impressed by their customer service and prompt
handling of my problem. Very satisfied indeed.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThese chairs are great. We have bought a total of 8 of them. they add a designer feel to our outside space. We are a guest house in Asturias, Spain and our guests love them too. Many of our guests have asked where we found them. The quality is good, they’re easy to construct. They come with a coating of protection, you may want to top this up once or twice a year. We put ours away for the winter months so that they do not get too weathered.

el gran sueño b&b loves these chairs, so do our guests.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are attractive and comfortable but the instruction to construct them are rubbish, if you struggle with handling heavy weights best avoid. They are tricky to handle, watch your fingers. However, once set up they are nice chairs, they also fold up for winter storage. I like the wide arms which work well for cups and books. Would be better if the back were to be higher to support the head though. Good product in a high quality teak.

My wife has had her eye on these chairs since a Nicholas Sparkes movie featured them. I was a little sceptical (we have a garage full of garden furniture already!) but I have to say these chairs are brilliant – great quality, easy to put together and amazingly comfortable with or without cushions. The extra wide arms are perfect for placing a drink/book on too without danger of knocking it off. Delivery too is so, so quick and, when we did have one small issue with one chair, this was resolved immediately by return of post. Excellent service and a terrific product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBefore purchasing anything from Amazon I always read reviews to see what other people think of the product. Lots of reviews said that the instructions weren’t that good and not clear. This put me off slightly but nearly all reviews said the chairs were very comfy and the fact that they can be folded so you can store them for the winter is a bonus so I decided to buy 2 of them which arrived very promptly. The instructions were very clear giving you step by step instructions. So if anyone is put off by people saying the instructions are not clear don’t be. The chairs are very comfy and have a nice smooth finish. I contacted the seller as I had a question and the customer service is absolutely brilliant! My next purchase are the cushions so all I need now is some warm weathe

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought 2 of these recently as we have been to Canada recently and loved them. Although I agree with the previous comments in relation to the instructions I was able to manage.
The first chair went together without a hitch. However I had problems with some of the hardware on the second chair.
I contacted the seller and received a prompt response, and in no time a replacement bag arrived thereby enabling me to finish the assembly.
I am very pleased with the quality and they look great on the patio. The fact that they can be folded and stored is why we chose them. But what I am pleased with mostly is the customer service received from the company when I contacted them. It’s not what they get wrong that matters, it’s what they do to put it right, and they get a thumbs up from me.

Excellent chair, well made, very comfortable and great to look at. It was well packed and each set of bolts, washers, etc were individually bagged. The instructions could have been a little clearer but very little difficulty in assembling. It is probably best to have second person on hand to help expecially when attching back rest to main supports. I bought the padded cover to go with the chair and could not be happier. I’m so happy with this purchase that I am now going to buy another three.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThe chairs arrived here in the North Coast of N Ireland in just 3 days. I opened one box and was immediately impressed with the beautiful finish of the wood, so started assembly as soon as possible. I must say that I should have waited for my wife to return – not because of any difficulty with the instructions – as a second pair of hands to help hold parts steady while I was lining up bolts etc. would have saved me some time and not a little perspiration. Anyway, both completed before my loved one returned without incident or injury. When she returned it was raining so I was sat on one of the chairs in the middle of the kitchen having a celebratory beer.
Can’t wait to repeat that bit in a sunny garden in the near future, and for years to come, as they are amazingly comfortable and with a little care should last for a long time. Love that they can fold up, so can overwinter in the garage out of the bad weather. Thanks for great service and a superb product – would recommend them highly.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis chair is exactly as the illustration and the wood has a beautiful finish. With help it was comparatively easy to assemble. It is very comfortable with good support for ones back and is ideal for odd rests between spells of gardening. With the addition of the cushion purchased at the same time it is even more comfortable and ideal for after lunch naps which the recent good weather has made possible. I have no hesitation in recommending it for a superb addition to add pleasure to your garden.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a really good quality chair and overall I am quite happy with it. It is made from a hardwood which I like, and is mostly ready assembled. My only complaint is that there were no instructions for the remaining home assembly in the box so I had to guess how to put it together and which size screws went where. I finally got there in the end but feel that the process would have taken half the time if there were guidelines as to which order it went together etc.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI was not put off by the bad reviews, as these did not relate to the chair, only to problems with assembly, and I have to agree that some parts of the assembly were fiddly. In particular step 2; a handy hint here is to push the washer into place with one of the supplied Alan keys. Another tricky point was step 5; the holes for part 7 were not perfect and I had difficulty engaging the bolt, and had to be careful not to cross thread it. The handy hint here is to use a crosshead screwdriver to wiggle part 7 as well as twisting and wiggling the bolt, part 9. I also felt some of the washers could have had their rough edges removed as this may wear away the wood with repeated opening & closing of the chair, although in reality the chair will not be opened and closed that often. In summary, a lovely chair that I’m sure will last a good many years if stored inside over winter, but could do with a little bit of thought on some aspects of the assembly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter 2 hours and the use of every tool I had, my friend [who is a full time builder and assembles stuff all the time] finally managed to put the chair together – you need hands like spaghetti to get to the screws; a doctorate in design to understand the instructions and occasional use of a sledgehammer to get the internal right angled screws to fit into the holes. Once done, it is absolutely gorgeous and unbelievably comfortable – also rather small and neat which is great for a chair that packs such a comfort and beauty punch.

I’d have paid a bit more to have it delivered assembled – not too hard since it folds down fairly flat for storage.
