I got the MOMAX stand at the same time as another stand by iVoler because I had concerns about MOMAX being able to hold up my laptop which is a HP Z-Book 17″ G3 which is wider and heavier than most. I did check and it was under the MOMAX stated maximum of support (up to 17.3 inches & 23lbs laptop) but the fact it was made of ABS + Silicon concerned me. The iVoler in contrast is made of aluminum alloy material, and also fits 17.3 but does not mention weight. I should not have been concerned, the MOMAX holds the laptop perfectly (lid closed and back in base) stable and once laptop is placed in stand I don’t have a concern. I am now working at home and the office so I have the MOMAX at home and the iVoler at the office. If they were swapped, I would be just as comfortable using either one.

Since the stand is behind my monitors, I do not use the “lip” part of the stand to hold anything but what blew me away was the way it handles a beast of a laptop both in size and weight without a single indication that it is anything but perfectly normal workload.

**Disclosure: I received a sample product from the Amazon Vine program for an honest and unbiased review of the product.

Great space saving solution. Sturdy and safe, and ideal for making the most of a work/storage space. I also noticed no scratches on the laptop from using it either.

Let;s just say I had a similar one a few months ago and as soon as my hubby realised what it does – turns your laptop onto a display and you are not tied to it, but can alternate between two keyboards, if need be, without the need to have the laptop taking up unnecessarily wasted space, he wanted one too, so we ordered this one! Three months down the line and I am buying one more, for my daughter, as she wants more space on her desk and now has a PC, as well as her laptop, so this is the best stand you can possibly imagine! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Perfect size for my purposes. I have a 17 inch laptop and use it with a large screen so this hides quite nicely on my desktop. also holds my cell and my tablet perfectly.

I recently switched to a thinkpad. This is the only vertical stand I could find that doesn’t cover up the air vents and is reasonable priced.

I picked this up for my new house as I have no specific place to put my laptop during the moving process. I wanted to be able to leave it on a random table without worrying about it having stuff set down on top of it or just disappearing in the disaster that is moving… So far it has worked better than any stand I have had before this one and as such I think the old stands I have will be replaced by this one when I finally unbox them… It is super sturdy and holds so many various sized laptops that it is much more versatile than other stands.
Have literally no complaints about this, will report back if the mechanism somehow breaks but otherwise it should be good to go. Color is unobtrusive as well, which is a big plus.

Great for multiple size laptops, Grips laptop when inserted into stand

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI ordered this for a student in my classroom he struggles with fine motor skills and cannot hold the iPad independently so I ordered this for his iPad to stand on this and it allows him to do any iPad activity he needs independently. This is very sturdy and has a good grip on his desk as well as hold his iPad really good this stand is worth the value of it’s money it can also be used in various ways

This is a handy way to dock my laptop when not in use. It’s one of the items I never know where to keep. I have a PC on my desk with little room for my laptop and this provides a vertical way of keeping the laptop out of the way and the desk decluttered.

The stand clamps automatically when you insert your laptop which means it can handle any laptop. The mechanism is quite clever and releases as you begin to pull the laptop out. There is a lip on the end of the stand which can be used to keep your phone or use as a dock if you need it. This doesn’t add a lot of obtrusive design to the stand and it fits the look smoothly.

The whole structure is made out of plastic which is not an ideal choice for metal laptops. This doesn’t need to be light either as it will be stationary on your desk. So a metal stand would have looked and performed better. There are solid grips on the bottom and I do trust this with my laptop but the material is important and they should have used metal. Due to the plastic, you can hear the mechanism rattling when you insert and remove your laptop.

At the time of writing this review, the price for this laptop holder is 15.99.

The laptop holder is designed with a smart mechanism that will clamp the laptop once the laptop is placed down into the stand, so the laptop will be secured by its own weight. I have tried with my wife Macbook pro 13inch and my HP Zbook 15inch, and they both work great. The rubber feet on the bottom surface makes the stand very sturdy. The stand is made of plastic and light material, but the smart design and the sturdy bottom part makes the stand suitable for all range of laptops.

The stand is versatile with different depths of laptops.
It has some padding so your device does not get scratched.
Definitely worth getting if you only use your laptop as a desktop and don’t need its screen.

This works great when used hand in hand with a laptop ‘docking station’. My wife has a work laptop and works from home a lot now, so I’ve built her a nice desk with a couple of monitors. All the peripherals, monitors and power cables are plugged into the docking station, then she just puts her laptop in this and connects a single USB C cable, very simple and takes up way less desk space than having it flat on the desk.

This is well built, and is very simple to use. It’s surprisingly stable and grips the laptop well, but not so much that it’s difficult to remove.

An added bonus is that if you spill your drink, your laptop is up and out of the way with this stand.

    As described and as advertised.

Stylish and almost minimalist laptop stand.

We like the dual purpose as can be used to slot in laptop in the centre or act as a tablet stand rested on the (outer) side.

We’ve found this stable as long as we slot the heavier (back) part of the laptop into the stand first. This means that the centre of gravity is that much lower and provides the stability this needs.

No real complaints. This doesn’t take up a lot of space both when not in use and when being used to hold a laptop.

We like the locking mechanism, it’s well designed and implemented to be simple and effective.

We haven’t scored this 5 stars because we think this is too expensive at 25 but if this is on offer or if 25 is in your price point/range then this is worth a look.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I am really happy with how well it works.
Although it doesn’t look as nice as some minimal stands, this one feels more secure and it works with any laptop.
Keeps the laptop safe and isn’t hard at all to remove from the stand.

I have no problems with this stand holding two laptops and the keyboard, and the openness of the stand allows great airflow for the two laptops.

What I like about this is that it automatically adjusts to the laptop width.

It is heavy enough that it does not move when nudged by accident and makes it a joy to remove the machine when needed elsewhere.

This works well and it allowed me to put the laptop vertically behind the monitor, so now it takes up almost none of the usable space on my desk.

The main body of our product is 100% aluminium, not the cheap plastic models on the market.

And there are some silicone cushions, the rubber on the bottom does a good job of keeping it from sliding.

There are high quality non-slip rubber strips on both clamps and a soft rubber padding to rest the laptop or tablet on to keep it free of scratches and from slipping off.

Furthermore, the entire silicone pad at the bottom of the computer stand eliminates the risk of scratching the desktop.

    Good value for the money.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI love the fact that this laptop holder is adjustable, as I have several generations of Macbooks, and a surface 4, all of them are all of the different thicknesses, and each one of these laptops shares time on my desk depending on the use.

Overall I think what makes this one stand out from the rest is the design of the supports. The supports are designed in such a way that they can easily hold a phone and or a tablet on each side. In theory, you can use this stand to hold a laptop in the center, a phone, and a tablet.

5 stars, I really like the design and it looks good.

Works very well, design of support allows you also lay a phone/tablet on the sides

This is a really simple laptop holder that has a clamping mechanism with a soft touch base to keep your laptops free from any scratches. When placing the Laptop in the holder the stand will start to clamp the laptop in secure to keep it from moving anywhere. The ports on both sides of the laptop are still accessible whilst giving a clean and professional look on your desk. Really good product & High Quality. Highly Recommend getting!

There are many laptop stands on the market but vast majority of them are too big but built better compared to this one.

It’s good for what it’s designed for. You can put your laptop, tablet/smartphone or Nintendo Switch and charge one of the devices. Design wise it’s ok, it won’t standout from the crowd because it’s simple as it can be.

One thing to note, if you’re a Surface Laptop 3 user. Cable from original charger might get broken after some time because it’s bent all the time when you want to charge it. In this kind of situation it’s better to use USB C to charge it, this issue is not applicable to USB C at all.

Great, if you don't want to have bigger stand on your desk

I’ve lost count of the number of times that I have lent my laptop or tablet against a piece of furniture or just used up space on a table laying it down.
Enter this very simple piece of kit that accepts my laptop with open jaws which then close with the weight of the laptop edge resting on the base. As soon as you pick it up the lack of pressure releases the jaws and the laptop is released for action again.
If you want to save space and have your laptop resting fairly securely then this is for you. Personally, this has become something that I didn’t realise existed but now I have one it has become indispensable.
Despite the fact that it is very light it comes across as quite sturdy and effective. Worth the money and highly recommended.

Lightweight but it works very well

The MOMAX Arch2 Vertical Stand is a useful addition to cramped desks, but can’t help but feel that it takes up more space than it should.

The stand comes well packaged in a professional looking box that describes the product as a ‘Tablet and Laptop storage stand’. It also describes itself as having 3 available slots (2 for a phone/tablet and the main slot for a laptop). This is technically true, though my use case for this was to hide away the laptop behind the monitor. Therefore the rests for the phone/tablet weren’t accessible. I also think that it’s unlikely you can position this on your desk in such a way that you can take advantage of each of the slots at once. The problem with this is that because of having those stands, I feel that it can’t rest against a backwall as closely as I would have liked. I’d have rather seen one of the stands dispensed with so that it took up less space.

The ‘gravity-based mechanism’ is effectively two bits of plastic that rock, pushing in against the laptop when the laptop presses down on them. This keeps the laptop in place, though not 100% securely. The laptop still can rock back and forth when in the dock though honestly this is more nit picking at this stage.

I used this with a Macbook Pro 16″ and there were no problems at all. Bear in mind to not block fan clearances with the dock (MBPs have fans that can blow air out at the hinge), but the stand is flexible enough that you can mount the MBP on any of its 4 edges. It’s not quite as functional as a dock that you can plug all your wires into, but for 17.99 (and with a 25% voucher) at time of review, this can be a solid option.

Solid, elegant if maybe a little larger than necessary

I really didn’t think this would work because of its low weight and small footprint but it’s a clever piece of engineering. Slide a 10 year old Macbook Pro and it clamps onto it for dear life. Slide a modern day ebook and it does the same. Slide a phone in and it’s all good. It’s so handy for me, because I use my laptop in bed a lot and am fed up with putting it away in a case overnight. And there is no chance of my table or devices being scratched because there are discreet pieces of rubber in all the right places.

It really is the business and looks great, too. For 17.99 it’s a no brainer.

I’m using it for an iPad but I’ve tested with a laptop as well. It works really well and is really sturdy. Just drop in your device and it instantly holds very sturdy. Then just pick it up and it releases. No buttons, no nothing just drop your device in and pick it up. So easy and so effective and you can sit other devices and things on the sides. It’s great and would highly recommend

When I first opened this, I though it had a nice metal finish that looked very similar to the finish on my MacBook. When I picked it up, I realised it was made of what felt like low quality plastic.

This meant it felt really light which means it can seem a little top heavy when you have a something large in it like a laptop. It is perfectly stable but I think it could easily fall over if knocked.

The holder is very easy to use, you just place your device in and then it the two sides come together holding it in place, you can then just lift the device straight out and the sides release. The only issue is if you don’t hold your device straight when you put it in, it sometimes sits in the holder at an angle which makes it look less neat.

Inside the gap you can easily fit both an iPad and a MacBook so I feel you you would comfortably fit most laptops.
The two sides has a bit at the bottom which you can also rest more devices in such as a phone or another tablet.

I would definitely recommend if you would like to have a neat way of storing quite a few devices whilst clearing up space on your desk. Just perhaps beware if you have particularly heavy devices.

Works well but not very high quality.

his is a vertical laptop stand from the brand momax, i ordered it because of the gravity locking design and tablet/mobile stand on the sides

it’s made plastic but with a metallic finish, feel sturdy and there are non-slip pass underneath, it stands very stable on table

with the locking mechanism, the laptop could only be placed and removed from the top, it holds the laptop very well, laptop will not inclined to either side like other laptop stands, but the only matter is that it could only be removed from the top, so i couldn’t use it inside a cabinet with limited too space

there are space to hold tablet/mobile on both sides, so it’s multifunctional, the tablet holder function can use with or without a laptop

i’m satisfied with this product, would recommend

place or remove from the top only

As you can see in the video it closes based on weight aka gravity force, not bad design qute sturdy and durable, and works as stasted but wish it had more weight to it, although it does hold well even now as light as it is. I just prefer things more weight to feel like it will last longer, for instance its made out of plastic and rubber, but I would prefer alluminium is heavier with rubber.

A great piece of equipment but a bit expensive for what it is at 18 quid.

    Closes based on weigh

I use this stand on my desk to save space, and I like that it is able to cope with either my tablet or my laptop, depending on which I’m not using at the time. The stand holds the device on its side, with its weight pressing down on the bottom panel which in turn pulls the sides in to hold it securely. The design is simple and practical, with nice design touches such as silicon strips underneath to prevent sliding on smooth surfaces, as well as for grips at the side. It’s a good stand, and looks smart enough to be kept out on my desk too.

    Simple and practical space saving

We’ve had something like this before that was made of a metal of some sort. It seemed fine but didn’t actually last that long and was very clumsy to adjust which in the end was where the item failed. The mechanism in this case is closed by the weight of the laptop. It between the jaws is a support that when pressed (i.e.by the weight of the laptop) makes the jaws close on the laptop.

Not sure about longevity but we will see. It’s a very lightweight object so it will not take a lot of rough handling.

  32. Michael Dorstewitz says:

The idea of a vertical stand for a laptop, so that it takes up less desk space when connected to external peripherals is simple, but so very useful in the era of work laptops at home.

Even my heavy Gigabyte Aero Laptop feels stable and well balanced.

The grey design looks quite elegant. It leaves the sides, where most things connect, completely clear. When you put a laptop into it, the jaws close gently, but enough to keep it stable. The jaws themselves have soft rubber edges where they touch the computer. When you need to take it out again, just lift the laptop and the jaws part. All engineered to use the weight of the laptop as the closing mechanism.

There are ledges on each side to put a mobile phone into, or to stop an pen rolling away.

    Brilliant idea, well made

I was hoping to use this Momax Gravity Auto Locking Holder Storage Dock to dock my Dell Latitude laptop at my work desk and save some space. I will say that the design of this dock is very clever, using the weight of the laptop itself to close the side clamps and hold the laptop in a vertical position.

My laptop still had some back-and-forth movement while sitting in this dock, and I was never totally comfortable about the stability of the setup. I compared this to a more “traditional” (heavy metal) vertical dock with fixed slots, and found that the traditional dock provided a more stable setup for me.

Though I ended up not using this for my setup, I would recommend this vertical dock if weight / size / portability is important.

I had no idea how much I would love such a simple device. It keeps my desk more organized and I have much more room since I got this stand. I have many times worked on top of my laptop just because I didn’t have enough space to move it. But with this I can keep my laptop on my desk and have it out of the way when I’m doing other things. Works great and I am so glad they thought of such a simple product!
