Very cheap and easy to install. Mechanism feels slightly catchy, may become smoother with use.
Great window handles
These cane as described. Really good value for money.. very easy to install. Wondering how long they will last though as seem a little more flimsy compared to original handle. Time will tell. However overall very impressed! Would reccomend.
Make sure you have a proper saw!
Cutting the spindle to size is not easy even with a hax saw so make sure to get a good saw when buying these but apart from that there amazing handles!

Very good handle, only one criticism being that its only supplied with a long length spindle, so if your window model requires a shorter one, the spindle requires cutting to size.

These handles were ideal however through my own fault I got flat /straight handles which means your fingers are very close to the window frame when closing/opening

I had a window catch handle snap on a very cold dat and was unable to get an emergency repair, I used an Internet search and found a how to video which showed it was pretty easy, so the looked on Amazon for spare parts and found Yale a well known make, available with Prime. They came the next day and were quite easy to fit, except for cutting down the spindle. otherwise excellent.

Easy to install, nice and chunky and as they were replacing old yellowed plastic ones really make the window look a lot nicer.

Dead easy to install!
After the mother in-law managed to snap the old handle off (don’t ask) I didn’t hold much hope to fix it. Well within 5 minutes of receiving the handle I had fixed it! It was perfect!

I’ve bought these a few times now, buyer beware – they are not all the same.
The ones in the blister pack, on the left in the picture, are very good, good quality finish, good positive click on the opening lock button, very pleased, even though these are considerably more expensive.
Another time the ones on the right of the picture in the bag came. They were cheaper, but they don’t look the same, despite being sold as the same part, the quality was nowhere near as good, a spongy button feel, different shape handle casting and generally a poorer finish, these I sent back as I suspect they would jam when fitted like other cheap handles I have bought in the past.

This replaced a broken handle-I had to cut the bit that went into the window but that was my fault for ordering the wrong size- easy to fit ( 64 year old woman with arthritis) and gave my window a lovely new look
Good replaceme
This handle was to replace a 15 years old one that snapped off. It’s a slightly different design but not that important as it’s in a different room to the others. It arrived quickly was easy to fit and really pleased with the price and quality.

Just the job for replacing white, gold and other coloured window handles on double grazed windows. Apart from cutting to length the spline, which goes into the window to operate the locking mechanism, fitting is straightforward and takes very little time.

Have used Yale products in the past and have always done the job. The item seems to be made out of good quality steel and very easy to fit too. Have been on the windows for a few months and I have had no issues. In my opinion, it’s worth paying that little extra for a good quality product!

Came in record time. Lighter brass than expected but fitted original space well with some adjustment as detailed in the very clear English- language instructions supplied. Remember to keep from locking accidentally whilst fitting. WARNING this brass surface scratches even just in removing from the brittle plastic packing. (If you can fit the other fiddly black screw cover, “you’re a better man that I…..” etc etc ) But result is so much better I’m ordering more.

I don’t understand why there is negative reviews as I found this handle strong enough. I did have to use hacksaw to shorten the spindle then it fitted well and looks good. Very happy with product and it came quick enough:)

EASY TO FIT
I had four sturdy, but old, silver alloy handles on two white UPVC windows in the sitting room. They worked but looked weathered so I decided to change them. I looked at DIY stores, online and on Amazon and decided on these Yale handles based on reviews, brand name, and price. Firstly they are not as solid as the old ones I took off, the new ones are a lighter feel, lighter operation, and the hidden safety button that keeps it secure when closed is plastic. The screw holes matched the old ones exactly, seems an industry standard? However my old handles sat flat against the frame, the new Yale ones have a 10mm raised section behind the screw hole, I presume so it sits snugly into the frame. So I had to drill out the old screw hole in the UPVC frame to make them all 10mm so the new handles would fit flush. (not mentioned in the Amazon advert?). Note of warning, get a 10mm drill suitable for UPVC frames so it doesn’t bite into the plastic. That being said once drilled out the new handles simply fitted into the old holes and looked very good. The handles click shut, so you push the thumb button to release the safety button. There is a key lock on the thumb button, but Yale supplied a small white clip on cover that covers the key hole and made them look neater if you don’t normally lock them. Overall easy to fit, they look good, work well, and seem value for money for what I paid.

Direct replaceme
I had a broken window lock. I searched Amazon and found this window lock was a direct replacement. It was very easy to fit having just two screws. Supplied complete with keys to operate the lock.

Product is fine and installs as you would expect, however I am not convinced this is a genuine Yale product. I have bought genuine Yale handles before and they come in the solid plastic packs (that are a pain to open), have 2 branded keys, and come with the necessary installation screws. This product came in a soft plastic bag with one unbranded key and no screws. Not a problem as you can you use the existing screws from the previous handle. There is no branding on this handle at all, unlike previous Yale products I have purchased.
Overall I’m satisfied with the product and price, and it was delivered in a timely manner, I just don’t think it’s a genuine Yale product.

Easy to install, but you will need a hacksaw if you need to shorten the internal bar.
Other designs come with multiple length bars whereas this one come with one that potentially requires adjustment.
However once installed, it’s a robust and functional handle.

This was really easy to install once you have worked out how to get the original handle off the window. I did not need to shorten the spindle . Overall it took roughly 10 minutes from start to finish.

Fixed spindle needs cutting
Espag handles I’ve come across before all had removable spindles. This means that if you’re replacing a handle, it doesn’t really matter whether the new handle has the correct length of spindle (some are supplied with a range anyway), because you can simply re-use the spindle from the old handle.
These ones, for some reason, have a fixed spindle which has to be cut to the right length with a hacksaw – an annoying and unnecessary extra job, in my opinion. Another time I’d buy from someone else for that reason alone (the handles are fine otherwise).

Doesn't Match Product Picture
I have not returned this because the product sent is fine and works! However, it doesn’t match the product pictures. It only comes with a philips screw cap cover and that doesn’t fit. So I have an exposed screw.. I have contacted Yale support regarding getting a proper flush screw cover. If they don’t resolve in the next few days I will return it.

Was fearing the worst when the handle on my bedroom window broke. This was the cheapest I could find with Prime delivery. The picture doesn’t fully show that it is a sturdy, standard fitting unit that easily slips into place, though some of you may have to trim the spindle. I used my existing screws. The screws supplied are ones that you can trim. The keys supplied for the lock look flimsy but this isn’t a problem for myself. I am a rubbish DIYer but I managed to remove the old unit and fit the new one in around 15 minutes, which I was pleasantly surprised by. I was expecting a long haul. Good luck.

A simple replacement for an existing broken Yale lock.
1. Simply unscrew and remove the old handle.
2. Cut new handle to length of the old one (with a hack saw).
3. Screw the new handle into the same position as the old one.
4. Done.
Took less than 10 minutes (most of it spent cutting).
This is a comparison review of the replacement UPVC window handles from Avocet and from Yale Locks . The Avocet is sold on Amazon at roughly 50% of the price of the Yale Locks item and it is interesting that when you view both item pages the other sometimes appears in the “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought..” list and I have to admit I was one of those who did buy both. The Avocet handle is just not to the same quality as the Yale and it is also unreliable in its lock action which is the reason I ended up buying the Yale. The following is a comparison of the two.
Both the Avocet and the Yale come with a 40mm spindle which has to be shortened to fit your particular window. One review commented that the spindle on the Yale could be replaced by that of the original handle but in practice I found I could not remove the spindle from either. I ended up using a junior hacksaw to cut the spindles down to the required length, in my case all that was required was a 10mm extension. Prior to doing this I would recommend wrapping a layer or two of masking tape or equivalent around the handle to protect it if you slip with the saw blade. It certainly saved one of mine from a nasty gash.
The push button on the Yale has a much nicer feel to the Avocet, and now fitted in place feels slightly more up market when operating the lever. The screw blanking plate on the Avocet is held in place by double sided tape, on the Yale it is held in place by plastic lugs which are more secure and allow the plate to be removed and replaced a number of times. Once in place the plate on the Yale looks far better as well.
The Avocet comes with one key, the Yale comes with two. One review mentioned the Yale key fitted their existing windows but in my case neither Avocet or Yale keys fitted the existing windows or their . The single Avocet key is far better quality than the Yale.
The Yale comes with two fixing screws which like the spindle must be cut to the correct length or as I did just use the original screws. The Avocet does not have any screws and relies on using the ones that were on the original handle that is being replaced.
Initially I was happy with the Avocet and the push button acted as it should. The key operated as normal, and when locked the button could not be pushed as expected. Quite soon after fitting it became apparent the push button was stuck in the out position as if locked. Inserting the key and locking then unlocking had no effect and by trial and error it was found the push button would only work if the key was inserted. Not very convenient. A large amount of fiddling and the like it then started to operate normally again but a day later it was jammed again needing the key to be inserted to operate the push action. On further fiddling it was found the barrel could also be turned sometimes without the key inserted!
This was why I bought the Yale to replace the Avocet which based on my experience I would avoid..
it seems unnecessarily tight on both counts
REALLY difficult to pull the central bar out so I could replace it with the old one. Then really hard to get the new one back in. Basically, it seems unnecessarily tight on both counts. However, it worked and was otherwise easy to install.
I moved into my house a year ago, and have never been able to open the conservatory windows. I have the key, but it didn’t seem to unlock the windows.
I almost called a locksmith / conservatory company about replacing them, but decided to give it a go after seeing these on Amazon and glad I did!
First problem; removing the old locks. After a quick search I found you could literally use a flat screwdriver and force the lock round! It felt a bit like I was going to break it, but it did go! Then i removed the screw that was hidden by the handle and found another screw underneath a small plastic cover (removed using a small flat bladed screwdriver). After the screw were out, the old locks just slid out.
With the old locks out, it was very simple fitting these new ones. Just slide it on place, fix the two screws, and pop the plastic screw cap over the exposed screw. Job done!
The lock / handle seems good quality and feels v quite nice to use (if that makes sense!)

These are great replacement window handles, I have now replaced all my windows with these. They are well made and straightforward to fit – however you may have to shorten the length of the spindle depending on your windows, this will require either a hacksaw (and plenty of elbow grease) or a suitable power tool.

Bought this as we had lost the key to our kitchen window meaning that it was possible to reach in and open the window if we left the transom window open. When we received these new locks, we discovered that their keys fitted two other windows that had lost their keys what we had also planned to replace. So three windows fixed for the price of one lock! They are as you would expect, quite robust and as easy to fit.

I have wood windows, however with a little bit of manual work they fit. Basically you need to remove the two ledges needed by the PVC windows and shorten the spindle bar if necessary. The locks are functional, the same key opens all the locks.
I am giving only 4 stars because the blister does not protect the handles very well, I received mine with some small scratches in the brass finish.

This handle seems much more solid than the others in my house. As far as I can tell, all locking parts are metal-on-metal and so the handle should be harder to force than similar plastic locks.

i bought few of them to replace ugly golden handles after previous owner. they seems to be good quality and i have no issue after 1 year of use. only one thing that i had to cut spindle for my windows but it was no problem.i would recommend

The spindle may require cutting down with a metal hacksaw to the right length for your window – this is stated in the instructions.
I had a saw from cutting metal curtain poles to length so not an issue for me and was easy to do.
I used my old screws so did not need to cut down the screws (also stated in the instructions).
I could not remove the spindle to use my old one from the handle that broke – not sure if they are all like that or just need more force to get it out.
Handle itself seems very solid and there were no issues with quality control on the finish.
For the 3.60 ish I paid with prime delivery this was a bargain to quickly fix my old uPVC window.
Now replaced all my window locks
Having brought one of these to see how it compared with ones in the local retail shops, I have now replaced all my window catches with these locking ones. Partly as I have seen in some insurance policies that they do not accept the type of locks that only have Allen keys as the key. These were very easy to fit as completely compatible with my existing locks.

I had to cut the bar as it was too long and using a hacksaw it took a solid 30 mins and a swolled hand but was worth it as the handle is tight and strong.

Yale locks window handle
I never had a key for my old stable door window, and as my insurance said all windows must be locked I thought I really needed to get a new handle with a key. I had to cut the shaft down to fit but it was a doddle with a hack saw and me a mere woman had it fitted and locked in 15 minutes.
The barrel crumbled in the previous handle so i just unscrewed it from the window and used the same bolt in this one. It comes with its own but the fittings are universal, you just have to screw it into the window, easy as peas.
The handle on the front window came off in my hand the other day and I worried that it was going to cost a fortune to fix. With a stroke of good fortune, I happened upon this handle thanks to good old Amazon. Yes, I had to hacksaw the square bolt to shorten it, but that was easy and it was fitted in no time. It has a nice action to it and feels well made. I know where to come to replace my other ageing handles.
