I bought this to keep in my rucksack so I could clear footpaths blocked with fallen saplings. Ideal for that purpose, though a blade guard would have been nice. Reasonably lightweight and robust. Blade sharp and effective.

I had some shrub roots that I just couldn’t get up but I dug a hole so that I could see them and the saw cut through roots of at least 1″ diameter easily. Great stuff!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuper easy to use first time we tried it out on a 3inch thick branch took 11 seconds to cut through! Our previous saw couldn’t even do it in one go let alone so few seconds. Handle is comfortable, easy to hold/use even for me with arthritis is my hands. Great saw at great price

Great product. Used it, just once so far, to prune a Cherry Blossom. It glided through branches up to 2 inch diameter effortlessly.
Nice shape when open and folds away safely. It doesn’t seem high quality when you see it first, but I expect it to last for a long time.

Great little device. I took down too small trees today hydrangea and a eucalyptus. I didn’t need to apply hardly any pressure the branches came right off. Highly recommended for prunning and for taking down small trees.

This thing cuts like butter! 25 to 30cm Holly trees, 3 days of chopping & my only regret was not buying 2 of them. Could be a little sturdier I guess because the blade is quite flexible, but it didn’t cause me any issue. If bigger it would be unstoppable.

I bought this specifically to prune my trees, not wanting to use a normal saw and this works well. It’s lightweight and fits in smaller spaces than a normal saw would, very sharp (so far) and cuts on the pull stroke. Very pleased with it.

Original finally went blunt after four years of use and replaced it with the same one. Very sharp and cuts on both forward and back strokes. Makes cutting thicker branches very easy. Not the cheapest, but would go with this one every time – you get what you pay for!

Very nice quality pruning saw and does all it needs to do. comfortable grip and easy to use. One point of arning…take care when closing the folding action. some tend to grasp the release button and leave their fingers in the way of the blade as it closes. Yes, I’ve seen this happen! Good buy and one of the best saws around.

The saw came promptly and was well wrapped.
The saw was easy to open and close (Just remember to keep you fingers out of the way when closing it!).
The saw worked well on some ivy hanging into our garden with stems up to about 30-40mm dia.

When I first unpacked the saw I thought it was too little and too light to be able to do the jobs I needed it to do. How wrong was I, its an amazing little tool and wouldn’t be without it. All the thick branches of a 50 year old hedge have now been chopped and disposed of.

Compelled to review the excellence of this piece of equipment. Used constantly since December cutting through a forest of trees and branches. The singularly bit of gardening equipment that cannot be bettered or improved upon. Having tried numerous hacksaws, ripsaws and chainsaw often heavy, cumbersome and awkward, this magic tool is cutting through 6 inch trucks effortlessly with no decrease in blade efficiency.

Overall a good saw that I would recommend.
Pro’s – easy to open and close, blade folds into handle fully, good grip, cuts through 6″ branches easily, easy to carry in a backpack.
Con’s – blade can twist if cutting action not smooth so just take long atrokes and let the saw do the work!

This tool is very useful quiet sturdy for what it looks like cuts well it does seem a little loose after lot of heavy handed use but is locking in place absolutely fine. I have quite a long mixed hedge Holly, Hawthorn, and Blackthorn which is in need of thinning. I used the pruning saw for the first time today. I was able to get in to the thicker branches without difficulty and the saw made a good clean cut. Very handy indeed.

What a tool! I have used this saw to cut the top out of a 10+ meter tall willow. It cut through 70 – 80mm branches with ease. Much easier to use than a bow saw, and safer! The blade is remarkable. It is the sharpest blade that I have ever used and never gets jammed. I know that this sounds like an advertisement, but I promise you that it is not. Trust me, it it worth every penny. There is no sign of it loosing its edge, but if it does, I hope that I can get a replacement blade. I would definitely recommend this tool.

This pruning saw is brilliant, I cannot praise it enough,I had 9 conifer trees to cut back to the trunks, it cut through some branches which were about 60 mm diameter with ease, and also you can saw in tight areas where you couldn’t use a traditional saw, you could use both hands if needed, I liked the fact that it cut on the back stroke, my only negative is the fact I wanted to purchase a spare blade, but I didn’t see that feature on the web site.

A brilliant saw, perfect for the job.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI can’t rave about this little saw enough. This is my third one that i have bought. Not because there is an issue with the first one but because there are two of us and we have a really big area to look after so now we have one each instead of sharing. We have really thick bramble stalks and all sorts wood, bushes and branches. The area is really wild and over crowded so it has resulted in many things dying off but this saw cuts through small branches, bushes etc so easily. Thats what i had hoped for but we have even taken down a trees which were a threat to property and cleared areas ready for replanting. One tree had a trunk of approx 30cm diameter and was about 5 metres tall but this little saw tackled it well. Yes you have to put in the elbow work but with this saw you can’t go wrong. Needless to say we have planted lots of other trees to make up for the ones cut back and pruned. The blade is a good size too as when looking around many similar looking ones had smaller blades. It so easy to use and i would definitely recommend.

I bought and returned the Mossy Oak saw, instead going for this one. Thicker blade (but still not like a Swiss Army Knife), so already more robust than the Mossy Oak one. Looks to be Stainless (I hope), about 1.5-2mm thick. Doesn’t come with a carrying pouch. I suspect the Stihlones must be the best in class. Lets see how I get on with this one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLike others who have reviewed this product, I found this easy to use and managed to cut through branches that “trapped” my bow saw and halted any further sawing.

One important thing to stress; LET THE SAW BLADE DO THE WORK. There is no need to exert any pressure in order to cut through a branch. Exerting pressure on the blade makes sawing more difficult.

    Thoroughly recommended.

  48. ErmaIeupddbxkc says:

This saw has a very sharp blade. On arrival the blade is folded into the handle, you have to pull the blade out and lock it into a cutting position. Equally you need to hold the handle, depress a knob and fold it back into the blade for storage. If you are careless you could fold the blade onto your fingers or have some other sort of accident.
the blade cuts well and is best suited to sawing across the grain. The whole saw is fairly compact and can get into small spaces. There is very little set to the blades so it can jam in the cut. this can be avoided by bending the branch enough to keep the cut open.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy Fiskars pruning saw was blunt and as I searched for another, I came across this one. The reviews were excellent and the mentions of positive customer service from the company, was reassuring. I’m not very well, including having CFS, so sawing things in the garden is absolutely exhausting. The better the product, the better my experience, hence buying the Fiskars one before, as I know they have a good reputation and I always buy their products. I trust them.

This is incredible. It has a much better blade, with lots of cutting teeth and It cut through really thick trunks of buddleias, really easily. I feel secure using it, it feels strong and more than capable of doing the jobs I need it to do. I’m very impressed with this. It genuinely has made some hard jobs much easier. Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersJust saved myself a small fortune by pruning and cutting down my overgrown cherry tree which had grown to 18 feet high. Using a sturdy ladder, I firstly lopped off the smaller side shooting branches and those which had sprouted straight up in the air with a pair of strong tree loppers to reveal the main thick branches of the tree. These were fairly substantial branches over 6 inches in circumference and this little miracle tree saw soon made light work of the whole tree. It truly is an unbelievable piece of kit cutting through the branches with hardly any effort at all. The secret of success in not to work hard at cutting through the branches but to let the extremely sharp saw do the work for you. Just rest the teeth of the saw on the branch and just move the saw back and forth and once you get into a rhythm the saw cuts effortlessly through the wet wood of the tree. Best purchase I’ve made in years for so small a price. Can’t praise this little gem enough but watch out…..this saw is not for leaving out around the home or garden as it is a 3 teeth set cutter and makes Jaws look like a goldfish in comparison as it is so sharp and made of quality materials. Comfortable to hold and use so no aching hands and arms and you don’t feel as if you’ve done the London Marathon a couple of time either. I’m 72 years old and the whole project was a doddle with this cutter even for me at my age !

I bought these along with their telescopic lopping shears as I have some overgrown conifers. The shears have done the trick for what I need so haven’t had to use this yet. I quickly researched on Amazon and learnt a bit about them from all the designs and some were survivalist angled, others more for budget gardening. I noticed that the carbon content was important.
Yours seemed to be the best price for the carbon and triple cut blade is good. Also being the most popular on Amazon too helped.

This pruning saw is comfortable to hold and is equipped with a locking button to hold it in the safe closed position.
By pressing the button you can pull the blade out into three different positions for convenient cutting angles. The blade is fairly robust but can flex under too much pressure and with a very sharp but coarse cutting edge it is advised to apply light but firm strokes. Have only limited use with this saw since purchased but for branches up to about 1 inch diameter it does a good job for me.

It is perfect as it folds so doesn’t take a lot of space, fits into my tool box and the blade and my hands are protected. Blade is vicious, cuts brilliantly and transformed one hour into a 10 mins job. I will use it on my allotment as well. It’s sturdy and easy to hold at different angles. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis has a premium feel and was certainly worth the money. I am pleasantly surprised that it has worked out so well and that it does exactly what I wanted it for. I have loads of different types of bushes and leylandiis and needed to cut back the garden to ‘dog-proof’ the garden/perimeter. Instead of overpaying somebody to do it or buying/renting a chainsaw, I used this and have successfully cut back & de-branched the leylandiis. I also had to remove a thorn bush & it cut through the wide stump/stalk. It makes easy work of smaller branches by the comfortable and safe hand grip and the triple-teeth work really well for the tough thick branches, especially if you’re in a tight position & you don’t have much elbow room. The key to it is to treat it with respect…in order to keep safe (when opening & closing it – there is a safety latch) and in order to use it efficiently (don’t always force & just let the teeth do the work). I should really have attached some photos of the thickness I cut in to. If you complain that it doesn’t cut whatever thickness then remember it is a hand-tool which I think cuts way above its apparent capability and buy a power tool such as a chainsaw instead. I am not taking down a tree with it and am really happy with the product. Keep it out of reach of kids as it is sharp and always use the safety close function when not in use (even if you are reaching for it half way up a bush!).

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersVery handy (compared to the alternative 20 inch B&Q wood saw I had 🙂
Light weight, good grip and very sharp – handle carefully.
Has safety release button and three saw positions.
First position is primarily for blade release whilst second and third is for cutting respectively.
If your cutting a thick branch, make sure you choose a good angle before starting.
Use smooth swift actions or take a breather before continuing further, as blade can flex or wobble slightly if your are not careful.

    Cuts Well

I am very impressed by this very useful garden tool, which arrived the day after I ordered it ! I have just used it to prune a large Ceonothus and I had no problem at all cutting through the thicker branches. It has a very sharp blade. The saw folds away for easy, safe storage. The seller emailed full safety and maintenance instructions before the item arrived, which I thought was very good customer service. I am very happy with both the Pruning Saw and the first rate service from the seller.

The Davaon Pro Pruning Saw appears to be a well made and sturdy product. The hand grip has a comfortable and re-assurring feel that it won’t slip in use. I like the way that the blade safely locks away in to the handle for safe storage and that it can be set at various angles to make the job of pruning easier in difficult situations e.g. where the branch is close to the fence. or a wall. All in all, I have found it to be the right tool for the job and I am very happy with my purchase.

so bought this saw with a view to use it primarily as a bushcraft too, needed something sturdy and able to fold down to save space and maybe a little weight. to date it has been an excellent tool, its got a great grip, very comfy to hold and use and rips through wood at rapid rates of kntots. The blade cuts as effective as ever although it has had much use in its short life with me and I was so very much impressed that im thinking this would make an excellent gift for a fellow outdoorsman..so, highly recommend this saw…

You still have to work quite hard to cut through branches more than cm, but it does the job. I can’t get it to lock in a 180 position. It either clicks to a smaller or larger angle. Overall convenient for smaller branches, maybe less than an inch diameter.

Very sharp and does the job. However, the handle could be better for such a large blade. The blade can wobble and get stuck, you have to be careful when using it. I already have the smaller of these saws which is more robust but of course does not cope with large thicknesses. Overall it is value for money and I would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m using this saw in conjunction with the same manufacturer’s loppers (reviewed separately), working on cutting back a high leylandii hedge (up to 25′ high in places) now that I’ve finally retired from work….
This is a comfortable saw to use, easy to grip, and cuts extremely well once you get a rhythm going; it’s cutting branches/trunks 6-8″ in diameter without too much difficulty, and makes short work of them once felled, along with the loppers.
Overall, a good-quality saw, comfortable to use; just like any tool, it’s important to take good care of it during and after use.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this to help cut down a bush/ tree that had grown far too close to the property. Was expecting the knife to pack in halfway through due to the price, but it held strong, cut the bush right down to the base and is still intact! Very impressed. I will be using this to cut back another overgrown bush at the back of the garden during winter- just waiting for it to die off first. Safety lock is a great feature as you feel safe using the saw. It can take a bit to get started because of the large teeth on the saw, but if you start lightly you will soon get a rhythm going.

Sorry to say almost as soon as it was used the small spring loaded divers crew or whatever it is at top of handle came out and couldn’t be found. It must be said however that this was just one of those things and in the past I have found this tool far superior to its counterparts and extremely good value for money. It is an ever present on our farm and I would not hesitate to continue to purchase this product.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersI am delighted with this saw. I really only ordered this particular one because it was the only one that seemed as if it might do the job and would arrive next day. I am hopeless at using a saw and was frustrated at being totally defeated when using an ordinary garden saw on a slender, only just over 3 inch, but dense and really tough tree trunk. But as soon as it arrived this saw neatly cut through it almost at ground level, fast and very easily and the blade didn’t wobble at all. The folding facility is an extremely good idea as well.

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersThis pruning saw is brilliant. I’ve been able to remove branches I’d been unable to tackle using my old saw. I’m an older user with arthritis in shoulder and hands. My grip’s not as good as it used to be and I’m not as strong. This is very frustrating as jobs I used to tackle without a second thought have proved challenging.

The metal Spring clip securing the blade in folded position is strong and easy to use to both open and close. The handle is incredibly comfortable; I held it towards the end of the handle and the curve at the base seems to fit the hand, and it’s soft to hold. The blade looks quite fearsome. I first tackled a branch that was just too big for loppers. I took the seller’s advice; let the blade do the work. In other words, there’s no need to apply pressure. Once the blade bites the wood, holding it lightly I quickly found a sawing rhythm and to my astonishment, the branch was off in literally seconds. I was delighted and removed half a dozen thick hawthorn trunks in just a few minutes. I tried it on a larger sycamore branch, pushing 6″ in diameter. It sliced through it with very little effort. This tool is going to transform my garden with relative ease. I’ve had other pruning saws over the years; none have matched this and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Good item, arrived within a couple of days. Does the job well of pruning a few shrubs. Blade does bend a bit as you are cutting but they do cut through several inches of a buddleia shrub and also an apple tree branch. Good safe design and am very happy with this product.
A bit difficult to get started on the sawing as the blade slips slightly but after this it is fine.

Golden Review Award: 66 From Our UsersA tree in my garden has been smothered by ivy for many years but I had no idea how to deal with it myself. Having viewed a you-tube video I purchased this pruning saw + a wrecking bar to prise the ivy from the trunk.
As a 60 yr old women with pretty bad arthritis in my hands I have to say it was so easy …. the saw went through ancient 3-4 inch diameter ivy stems like a knife through butter… it is scarily sharp!!

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersWhen I first ordered this I kept thinking I should maybe have chosen a certain well known brand for a few quid more, but now after a bit of use I’m glad I didn’t because this thing cuts like a samurai having a fit, its lightweight and has a very comfy rubberized grip making it comfortable for longer use.
Will report back if it dulls quickly or anything like that but right now its great.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersNice size, good sharp blade, nice handle.
Unfortunately the end has snapped off after cutting some 2 1/2 inch diameter willow. I must have slightly twisted the blade on the pull stroke and the end is quite pointed so may be a weak point. Perhaps this size of cut is a bit large for it (but it was doing a good job until then).
I can still use the blade, its only a 1/2 inch missing and the rest of the teeth are fine.

Golden Review Award: 52 From Our UsersI really recommend this Folding Saw. It is very well made and competes very well with the more well known brands costing more money.
The quality blade can be locked at various angles to deal with awkward cutting angles. It also does not bend too much when under pressure.
The handle is excellent and fits in the hand nicely making a secure grip.
As I have said it is a quality product and I expect to get many years use out of it.

A Saw cut above the rest !

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersV Good but….
Very strong and versatile saw. Excellent value for money. Great at cutting through branches anywhere up to 2 inches (5cm) in diameter. Folding action allows easy access to trickier angles than a normal saw would manage. Only one complaint is that after 6 weeks of use the screw came loose from the bolt and get lost. Saw effectively useless unless the bolt is replaced, which I’ve been able to do with a longer bolt that sticks up. Now looking for a smaller one!
    23/10/17 update
Emailed company asking for the cost of a new bolt and they sent one for free the next day. Superb customer service. Changed rating to 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersDoes the business. Folds up to a nice, handleable size and when open locks in place so no danger of the blade coming back to bite. Cuts through wood of about wrist size without too many problems though a dab of oil helps. Not the most robust piece of kit I’ve ever come across but so far nothing has fallen off or broken despite a reasonable amount of usage.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersYou’d swear you were going through balsa wood, it cuts so fast. Good build, nice handle and really compact for carrying in a backpack etc. I use it to process fallen trees/branches for firewood. Biggest I’ve gone through is about 7 inches diameter. Get into a steady rhythm and you’ll be through big stuff before you know… I was looking at the Laplander too, but I’m so glad I went for this one. At the price I bought it, it has to go down as one of my best purchases ever.

Works really well and makes light work of cutting branches. Feels a little plasticy and flimsy when moving from one setting to another but seems sturdy enough once in position. Also be careful when closing as it is easy to nick a finger if you don’t watch what your doing…obvious i guess but it is easy to overestimate the force needed to close it.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis is a very well designed little garden saw. Although lightweight it is not flimsy and the soft curved handle makes it a dream to use. Would recommend it to anyone but particularly to those who finds it difficult to handle a larger, heavier saw.
