This model is my first Hornby model that I buy, and I am quite happy with it. I normally collect brands from Germany and Austria, but since I have moved to the UK I have been interested in getting some Hornby locos and stock for my son, as such this is ideal entry kit to start my son with.
Fantastic set! The locomotive runs smoothly and quickly. It comes with two unpainted figures, a coal man and the train driver. It feels like a really good value set because you get a decent amount of track too. Also the oval of track is the ideal size to circumnavigate a large Christmas tree so at Christmas it will be nice to see it travelling around the presents.
Excellent low-budget entry-level set to get a youngster into the hobby, but spoilt by not being sold market ready as it has a UK spec. three pin plug fitted and requires a further purchase of an adaptor to function, not specified in the selling description. Hornby are a good company, but somebody needs to tell Amazon to warn customers about this.

I got it as a present for my son. He’s 11 and absolutely adores it but it is quiet expensive for what it is
Purchased this to fit under Christmas tree. Works really well and is a bit of fun.
You can buy additional carriages, the coca cola themed one is a must!
