Nothing wrong with them! I normally buy the Wilkinson Sword or Spear and Jackson equivalent with the easy switch lock. Really useful locks this type have on commercial gardening as you can hold a ladder with one hand and unlock and prune with the other using any part of your body! Meet the task, do the job and cheap enough to loose and not cry

Ideal for normal garden use.
This was a present for my 50+ year old daughter to use in the mature back garden of her recently purchased house. They work well. It is a useful touch to provide a spare spring as this type of spring is prone to being knocked out and lost although it is the best type to spring the tool. Two types of cutting blade is a good idea as hard and soft plant growth requires the right type of blade to prevent damage to the plant.
