85 dB Buzzer

The alarm noise level measures 85 dB within 39.4 in, which is loud enough to be heard by your whole family and alert you in case of an emergency.

Insect-Proof Design

An insect-proof design functions as a buffer, isolating the sensor from insects, thus ensuring high accuracy.

Quickly Locate the Alarm Source

Press the Test/Silence button on any interconnected alarm to quickly identify the source alarm. If all alarms are silenced, then the smoke alarm you tested is the source alarm.

Accurate Smoke Alert

This X-Sense alarm has been upgraded to perform smoke concentration analysis at least 3 times every 10 seconds, thus eliminating interference from wind, dust, and non-hazardous smokes.

Perfect for a 2 bed home, provides coverage of all rooms and being linked means that even heavy sleepers can be alerted of fires at the earliest possible moment.

I wanted to protect my family from any fires in the home looked at many options hard wiring different makes to the x sense but these came out on top. So easy to install and interlink to each other. The cost is a fraction from aico and these are within the regulations needed. One happy customer. Have been recommending these to family and friends.

    Sooo easy to install

I bought a 3 pack and then added a forth alarm shortly afterward. I tested the alarms with the test button and with actual smoke with the desired effect. Triggering one alarm triggers of others via the RF link as expected.

I like the replacible batteries options just in case it fails before the alarm itself fails.

I had bought the X-sense combined smoke and carbon monoxide alarms which are great but couldn’t get the X-sense heat alarm for the kitchen at the time so was pleased when they came out with this as now I am scottish homes compliant. They all link up wirelessly with a 10 year sealed alarm. Great product would highly recommend *****

    Easy to install.
I only have the single pack but I believe if you have more than one you can link them.
Sick and tired of the smoke alarm going off every time I’m cooking from the slightest bit of smoke… this is a great alternative as based on spike in temperature.
    Very pleased so far.

    – Easy to install
    – Easy to interconnect
    – Works
    – You can buy remote so you don’t need a broom stick, ladder or ear protection to switch off when you’ve got a false alarm
    – I use these in 3 rooms on two levels in combination (but not connected to) two combi smoke/carbon monoxide alarms

Sometimes, people disable smoke alarms because they go off whenever toast is made, or when steam reaches them from a source such as a shower. They shouldn’t, but

The answer is a heat alarm such as this, because it responds to heat, not smoke or steam.

I have installed mine — easy, providing you have a suitably-sized screwdriver and a drill or other means to make two holes for the plugs and screws provided. It is also necessary, though, to think about whether there is any possibility of drilling into an electricity cable — and you need to be OK about working above your head whilst standing on a suitable platform — ideally a small stepladder.

The leaflet provided advises on where on a ceiling the alarm should and should not be placed: ditto on a wall, if you really must use a wall rather than a ceiling.

The integral battery cannot be re-charged or replaced, but should last for ten years, which is the recommended period before a new alarm should be replaced anyway.

The alarm is activated by a simple on/off switch — to access which you have to twist and pull the alarm down off its mounting. OK, it’s inaccessible, but, in general, that is a good thing, as most people other than the person who installed it won’t realise that there is an off switch.

After installation, that should be it for the next ten years, except for periodic testing — and temporarily silencing any alarms.

Both of those can be done with a broom handle, or other suitable stick or pole, so if your alarm is in a high and relatively inaccessible place, there is no need to climb up to it other than to install and eventually remove or replace.

At the end of the battery’s life, the alarm will beep once and flash red every 60 seconds. If the alarm diagnoses itself as malfunctioning, it will beep twice and flash red every 60 seconds.

I am using mine as a ‘stand-alone’, at least for the time being, but the potential to wirelessly link several alarms in the same house, small office complex, etc. is certainly attractive. Perhaps, when I need to replace my existing smoke and CO alarms, I will think in terms of X-Sense alarms compatible with this one. Then, if one sounds, they all sound — alerting everyone in all areas, hopefully.

Perhaps I should wait ten years before writing my review, but that wouldn’t be of much help to most other potential buyers. All I can really say at the moment is that the alarm is ‘horribly’ loud (85dB) — as it should be, of course — and that the unit can be installed by a reasonably competent DIY or handy-person.

It wasn’t that bad actually, I held a flame on the top and it went off, I guess I got one that worked. Just those couple problems with it. No easy way to replace the battery and a slight delay with the heat but not a long delay. Is a decent product just think though if a fire breaks out the product will be overcome with flames right? Well I sure hope its fire proof because if the battery get caught in the fire it will explode. Perhaps this is why it is shielded behind screws.

Battery is suppsoed to last 10 years, there is a test silence button on the front, but I tested it out with a naked flame. Looks like the pairing button works by connecting and pairing to multiple devices so if one activates they all activate. That is pretty smart, but can’t test this feature out as I only got 1. Still nice to have though. I will update my review should things go wrong.

The one I have is a heat alarm and NOT a smoke alarm.

It is fairly compact and isn’t particularly any more obvious/ intrusive than other fire alarms.

If you have multiple of these they can interconnect which is a great feature as if one alarm goes off all will go off, however can’t attest to this as only have one.

Well constructed and well made system.
Extremely easy to install and set up.
Immediate link up of individual units on removal of battery tapes.
Alarms when tested emitted a very loud high pitched sound with all alarms sounding after one of the alarms is tripped.
Can’t comment on battery life as it’s a new install.
All in all an excellent, easy to install system with a 5 Year Guarantee with option too increase this to 7 Years on registration.
Excellent value for money, and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this alarm system.

Arrived sooner than expected and well packaged. Very easy to set up and fit. Tested with incense sticks and separated by about 40 metres. Although there’s not muck smoke from an incense stick all three sounded after about 30 seconds of continuous smoke but they are not too sensitive, like some, so they won’t activate every time there’s the slightest whiff of smoke. With a 60 day money back guarantee and 7 year warranty, when registered online, what’s not to like? Worth every penny IMO. Cannot rate the battery as it’s too early to tell but it’s a nice touch that they are included. Very happy.

I bought a 6 pack of these, plus two separate carbon monoxide detectors from the same brand. They were very easy to link together (the smoke alarms sent out currently are the newer Link+ ones which are compatible with the carbon monoxide detectors). They were also easy to install and look neat on the ceiling. The light is on the side, so you can have it pointing away from heads of beds etc. which can be helpful, plus I like the fact that if the alarm does sound, you can tell which one triggered it as all the others will silence when you press the button. No more running around the house trying to check every single room.

We have only had them installed for a couple of weeks but have had no false alarms so far and they are easy to test (and very loud). They have no problems connecting to each other around a 4 bed house – where they are on different floors and 6-7 metres apart.

The manufacturer told me they expect to be launching a linked heat alarm in the summer, so I am looking forward to adding some of those to my network.

As others have said, with the replaceable battery they don’t meet the scottish requirements, but they are a nice piece of kit and work well for the rest of the UK.

I’m not giving a full review, I hope never to. I’m hoping they are never pushed into action. Screwed into the ceiling near the centre of the ceiling, not too obtrusive ask the missus. A bit of work to synchronise them but they work silently and passively. Hopefully that’s the way they’ll stay.

XS01-WR (other models with different features are available). A set of three or six in a box are already linked to each other but each can can be linked into one larger set if required (up to 24). Quick and easy to fit onto a plasterboard ceiling or other suitable location that can take a small plug and screw fitting (provided). Good sounders and easy to test. Long life lithium batteries. No false alarms so far. A remote controller can be linked to an interconnected cluster to test or cancel alarms. The smoke detectors are compact and neat.

Sadly these are no good for the new Scottish fire alarm regulations, which need to have a sealed battery and heat detectors. This isn’t the companies fault obviously.

But if you are looking for some cheap inter-linked alarms for 2022 regulations, this isn’t it.

  26. Anonymous says:

Easy to install; I used no more nails. Read instructions carefully for location as you could install in a ‘dead spot’ where smoke is less likely to go in the event of a fire. Easy to test from one unit. Compliant with new Scottish regs. as all interlinked. Job done!

Very easy to test and ‘interconnect’ with each other, (further smoke alarms can be added at a later date if you wish), simple to install.

They paired easily and seem to work as expected. I also bought the CO03D CO2 detector and it failed to pair. Retuned it for credit. The X-Sense website states that it should pair. Now going to try the XC-01 to see if it pairs. Again, the website says it should.

Bought these as my mum has dementia and lives next door. We didn’t know if this would work on 2 houses & both houses are 17th C with very solid stone walls. We wanted peace of mind as she still has a coal fire, it does confuse her if it goes off but at least we know and can be at her house in seconds to reassure her. Very easy to install.

Great little kit this. I wanted to link various outbuildings to detect any smoke especially with one being a utility with a tumble drier. These looked the part and were simple to install, set up and use.
There is a confidence in setting off all alarms from a single location to alert people, even if that location is not occupied. This plus the sturdy design and compact nature give an ideal purchase

Quick review. I installed 2 of these in outbuildings 70 feet from the house and they link back to the one in the house OK. I linked them before i installed them just in case the range interferrd with the linking.

Neat… I used magnetic self adhesive mounting plates to install which made them even easier, loud (and that’s a good thing), interconnect well and really pleased with the appearance – call me sad but I had the whole system up in about 10 minutes of opening the box and spent the rest of the evening feeling pleased with myself.

I’ve not rated battery life because it’s only been a couple of days – ask me again in 5 years

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOverall, a five star review. You can tell there has been a lot of thought and care put into producing these detectors. Even the packaging and the instructions are top quality. The units themselves are really well designed, they’re small and look great on the ceiling (really).
I’ve read reviews from people that say they’ve tested these alarms with smoke and that they don’t work. I’ve also read reviews where people say that the alarms fail to link.
I bought two 3 packs (6 alarms in total).
I followed the instructions for interlinking. You need to press the button four times in quick succession to add a new alarm to your existing network. If you’re too slow, you will fail to interlink the alarms. Once you realise this, interlinking works every time.
Also, I tested all the alarms using a can of “Smoke Sabre – smoke detector test aerosol” – search for it on Amazon…. Not cheap at about 16….. but every alarm responded correctly. There was a bit of delay between spraying the smoke and the detector sounding…. but this was fine for me. I don’t want the smoke alarms going off with every minute whiff of something that might be smoke. I only want an alarm when there’s a problem brewing.
    Highly recommended.

Having had multiple ‘other’ brand smoke alarms fail due to the built-in long-life battery not lasting as predicted, I decide to change makes and purchase these, having seen a good review of them / the system online.

They are much smaller than existing alarms (like a jam doughnut size) and fit easily with the included screws / kit.
Added benefit is that this model is one of the few to still have a changable battery (although a 5yr / long-life version), so if they do suffer battery failure like the other brand, it’s just a case of buying a new common battery and not a whole unit, so overall a better ROI.

Added benefit of these is that they are interlinkable, so if one alarm sounds, they all do, giving added piece of mind to safety, considering that I was fitting these throughout the elderly Parents’ place whom are hard of hearing. So now I know that if an alarm sounds in a room that they are not in, they will be alerted by the unit nearest them, hopefully giving extra time to deal with the issue at hand.

Used to have the NEST ones throughout, over 12 units, cost me a fortune and they kept having false positives, they would go off in the middle of the night for no reason, a little bit of dust in them and boom.
The x-sense ones are a fraction of the price, they connect together to give a full coverage and they haven’t caused a problem for over 4 months now, I am very pleased.
    Totally recommend

As I’m installing power to my detached garage I wanted to ensure I was alerted if there were ever any issues while in the house, and vice versa if working in the garage.

Three of these, all paired straight from the box, installed and tested in under 10 minutes. I’ve replaced my existing alarm in the hallway with one of these, and added one on the landing upstairs. Each tested and happily pinging/triggering the other two.

For reference, it’s a 250 year old house with very thick walls. The garage is 6m from the house, and total 15m from the nearest alarm in the house and it all works seamlessly.

I shall be buying some more to expand coverage to each of the bedrooms, the living room and the dining room. With high ceilings downstairs, it could take a lot of smoke in one room before it spills under the top of the door frame and triggers the hallway alarm, so for less than the price of a single nest alarm I can add 3 more rooms with this system.

Easy to set up and install. Very compact but solid build make the alarms look good as well. I hope they never have to be used for real but having tested them out I feel so much more secure in the knowledge that all 3 stories of the house are linked. I only marked down the battery life as I have no way of confirm their longevity yet.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy title says it all, – they came out of the box ready mated, all one has to do is energise the circuit by removing the battery isolation paper and they’re working. Tested all 3 on the table, then placed them in their respective locations & tested again once the ceiling fittings were secured. Very easy . I like the fact that the battery can be replaced after it has exhausted itself (expect around 5+yrs) I’ve only had them for a week, but had no spurious alarms. Another interconnected brand I had before only lasted 6 yrs instead of the quoted 10, and they were temperamental in that they would bleep for no reason.

Interconnected smoke alarms – either hard wired or wireless – will within the next year or so be mandatory in every household in Scotland. Better to get in early before demand surges towards the end of 2021, and prices inevitably rise in response.
These had very encouraging reviews, and price compared very favourably with other brands of wireless alarms. Delivered very quickly, very easy to fit and interlink. Long battery life, quite small so not intrusive. What’s not to like.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersFound this 6pack of smoke detectors ideal for a big house as they work as one unit, if one unit activates it activates the rest. So when I’m in second floor bedroom can hear clearly if any smoke alarm activated on ground floor sitting room.
Very wide signal range, ideal for big houses.
It supplied with fittings and screws, no additional tools needed except screwdriver. However personally found easy to use a bit glue and no need drilling fittings.
Looks nice and it’s open, looks it will easily detects the smoke as it’s nicely open.
Came with with batteries and one battery can last upto 5years. And this is not sealed unit so once battery empty it can be replaced .
Manual clear and in plain English, it explained how and where best to install and where I shouldn’t. Just read manual before installation as I noticed it’s not ideal to put one or highest corner of sealing . All explained on manual liftleft.
Have a look to my pictures to see real size, hope this will be helpful to decide if It’s suitable for personal needs or not.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAt about 20 each these networked smoke detectors are all that a person could want. Smaller than I expected (this is a good thing) and very easy to configure and fit. I had installed all three and had them working in 20 minutes. The fact that I could add to the network simply by buying more and ‘pairing’ them up is a bonus. A great product that will give 10 years on a battery and needs very little effort to fit, what’s not to like?

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersThe three detectors arrived in a neat box with no plastic wrapping. The box includes the three detectors with batteries fitted, two screw and plastic masonry plugs for each detector and instructions. The instructions are easy to follow for the recommended places to fit the detectors, interconnection and testing. The instructions indicate up to 24 detectors can be interlinked.

For installation the back-fixing plate of the detector twists away from the unit easily, this can then be screwed to the ceiling or wall. The detector unit can then be located on the lugs of the back-fixing plate, and with a small twist connects into place.

Simple to set up and test via the silence/test button on each unit. Each detector has a red flashing led and a loud alarm when tested. One detector is located on each floor and all go off when tested. Very pleased with the product and would recommend it for the money.

    Great compact detector!
