Choosing the Correct Petrol Generator
Working Out Wattage Requirements
For each appliance, identify how many watts it requires and then add 20% for resistive loads or add 50% for inductive loads.
Identifying Load Types
Resistive loads have no moving parts (e.g. kettles, light bulbs and heaters). Inductive loads have moving parts (e.g. motors, air compressors and pressure washers).

Good price, but tgis generator less powerfull than expected. When I try to use my electric tools, it working with noise and pressure. Also, fuel consumption a bit bigger than described

Due to frequent electric cuts locally I decided to buy this generator. It is easy to assemble and understand the workings, as soon as I topped up the oil and petrol the generator started on the twist of the Key and tested out ok.

We bought this generator on the recommendation of a friend after a serious power cut in the storms. It arrived quickly, was easy to set up and started at first attempt.
It could do with a set of wheels, it should be offered with this as an option.
The wiring of the battery connectors is poor and could be done more simply. The wires obstruct the already awkward oil filler point. It is noisier than I expected, but at the price is great as an emergency backup.

We bought it to use during storm Arwen. Easy to set up, noisy like any other generator but very good value for money…my electricity came back on 1h after we received and started the generator so I’m not sure about how long it last with one fill.
First class service
Arrived quickly. I filled it with fuel and oil, started first time. Ran for two minutes and then abruptly stopped. Checked fuel and oil, all ok. Tested for spark, their was none.
Union Mart sent me a replacement HT cap which arrived following day. Still no spark. Union Mart arranged for the machine to be collected the following day. It returned two days later and has worked fault free since.
Ok, so I experienced a problem with the machine. The important message is the suppliers did all they could to sort it out, so, despite the problems, I’ll give this five stars.
Be realistic, Remember the price
Please bear in mind what this costs, its a 2.8kw geney for 170, yes when it arrived it leaked fuel i had to put a clip at one end of the fuel line as it had been left off, yes a wire broke away from a solder joint on the key switch which i soldered back on, if you arent willing to do this kind of thing, think twice about buying this geney but if you are, well its fantastic value for money.

Easy to set up and sta
Arrived well packaged and easy to set up although you may need a very small funnel to fill the oil reservoir which is in a slightly tricky place to get to at the bottom of the generator. Using the electric starter motor it started first time and ran smoothly once running.
With regard to noise, as you’d expect, it’s comparable to a loud petrol driven mower. So far all is good.

It was impossibly easy to start. Just fill with oil, connect the already-charged battery and start it up.
I put a 1500Watt load on it, and it didn’t seem to stress the generator. it even comes with 2 uk plugs, which i thought was a nice touch.
If you buy the correct 4-stroke oil, the oil container comes with a long slender filler neck suited to filing generators, so it was impossibly easy to fill. A lot of people brought regular car oil, and of course struggled to tip the oil in as the oil filler neck is at an angle. (Search for “Castrol 15042E Power 1 Engine Oil 10W-30 4T, 1L”).
I found the unit was surprisingly quiet given the power rating, I’ve had noisier 1000Watt suitcase generators.
The generator is very well made at this price point, in fact it’s well made at any price point.
The engine starts well with the electronic/battery start and pull-cord.
To start, you have to get the knack of having the choke on, turning the engine over (either cord or battery), and as soon as the engine fires, turn off the choke.
Electric start is unheard of at this price point and it was flawless.
It’s not possible to remote-start it via a command wire as the choke is not automatic, I would have liked this option to remote start it from my RV, but not complaining at all.
Generous fuel tank runs all night, which is a really nice touch – beats getting up at 4am to top up the fuel tank!

It cuts out after 10 secs
Only second time trying to use it (first in August) and it won’t run. OH got it to start eventually but it kept cutting out after 10 secs or so. He’s good with engines and has tried everything. It seems the fuel line is too short and there is no filter on the fuel line, despite there being a maintenance requirement to clean it before every use. Very short return window. Suspect this company know they are selling a dud. Don’t buy.
I have upgraded my review. Had to get it repaired after the disaster described above. 50. But repair man advised it is based on Honda model and is a good design. He also supplied a ‘clean’ fuel and there have been no problems since.
I would like a little more technical information in the handbook for when I service this item.
This is a very good generator, quick and easy to set up and get running, easy to start as it is the electric start model that I chose. Comes on line immediately and won’t allow you to overload it. I am very happy with it. I particularly like the way the fuel gauge turns red when the tank is full to stop you over filling. Spot on.

I like this product because it is extremely well made and has electric start, which makes it versatile. The product was delivered within 24 hours and was extremely well packed.
Fantastic bit of kit! Arrived before I was told which was great. No real assembly I just fixed the battery cables in place, put the rubber feet on, filled it up with oil and petrol and used the key start! After a few turns (just to get the fuel through) it fired into life, and it’s not too noisy either. The reason I got this generator was to power a DAB water pump to supply water to my remote Croft cottage in Scotland during power cuts.

Very quick delivery to the Western Isles of Scotland, the generator was very well protected in it’s transport box.
Minimal assembly, filled the oil and fuel as directed and it fired up on the first pull. Battery was fully charged and starts the generator first turn, handy to have both battery and recoil start facilities.

Nothing to do with the product, but instead the weird questions you want me to rate?? I bought a generator and you’re asking me “Stretch” and “Thickness”. What does this even mean in relation to a generator?

Good, but a little too loud for what I use it for.
Very easy to use
The order was delivered very quickly and the instructions easy to follow. I was able to run the generator within 30 minutes of unpacking. We get frequent power cuts in our area and I particularly wanted to keep a garage based fridge, dehumidifiers and a security light running. The double socket and 12v output is ideal for my use. The generator appears to be very well made and robust. I would suggest, as its 36 kgs, perhaps purchasing a wheeled generator if you need to move it around which I don’t need to do.

Der Benzinschlauch war so knapp bemessen, dass ich zuerst Benzin verloren habe. Habe den Schlauch ersetzt.
Elektrisch habe ich die mitgelieferten Stecker umgebaut – nun ist alles Ok. Die elektrische Zndung ist ein absolutes + , sie funktioniert einwandfrei und ist eine groe Hilfe beim Start. (Kein Seil-Ziehen mehr ! ). Der Verbrauch ist relativ hoch: in der Stunde ca. 1,2 Liter Super. Dafr ist die Leistung extrem gut. Das Gert luft ruhig und zuverlssig, auch bei starker Belastung. Wenn man die Anfangsmngel gelst hat, hat man ein sehr gutes, zuverlssiges Gert. Hinzu kommt das extrem gute Preis-Leistungsverhltnis. Wrde ich wieder kaufen.
Purchased this Generator for a caravan camping holiday as we was on a site with no electric hookup .
Item arrived earlier than stated which i was very happy about as i decided to purchase it at the last min and so that gave me a bit of time to set it up and make sure it all run ok .
It was very easy to set up i just had to measure the oil out and fill up with petrol .. its also great it has a key start .
It run really well and coped with everything i needed to use : Fridge /lights /water heater/ microwave .
The level of noise was reasonably good .. No it wasn’t silent but what engine is.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase & would i recommend or buy this item again most definitely yes ..

Good Austrian product, well made Sterk & Robust. Has a tendency to move if feet are not fully tightened.
Electric start is a good feature for the elderly user. I will fit an in-line- filter to the fuel pipe, although not necessary.
Uses 1lt fuel/hour. This, 2.8KW generator with electric start is a real bargain. Look at Japanese equivalent and make your decision. I did.

Bhmer-AG 6500W-E generator is exactly what we needed to run lawn mower and strimmer at same time with ease.
Only reason not getting 5 star is what I see as a design flaw. The oil was difficult to put in due to the angle. Overcame by using a small rubber hose attached to small funnel.

Couple of days for delivery,
Easy to put together, bolt rubber feet on, bolt Battery Terminals on red / black.
Added some oil 10w-30 and some unleaded. choke and fuel on.
Turned key started first time , not to lowd.
Tested on Kascher K5 , Rug doc + Kascher WD3 and Karcher SC 3 together all ran good.
Only tested lightly , Used 3 times 10 – 20 mins a time all good.

Good generator arrived within a few days . Easily takes a power drill and hedge cutters and bench saw.. As with all generators watch start up power required especially on bench saw. Best not to have everything on at same time as start up power is 3 times the running power for wattage required. But no problems. Had generator 6 months now no problems. Just misplaced the starter keys and Union Mart replaced them free of charge now that is customer service.

It had to be key ( not worth owning a horse and you wearing the saddle) a couple of turns just to get the fuel through and it fired into life, and it’s not too noisy either. The reason I got this generator was to power a machine which is 1800w so that got plugged in and it coped just fine, then I plugged in the microwave oven which is 800w thinking it wouldn’t be able to cope, but it did it easy! Smashing bit of kit at a really decent price. Would highly recommend to everyone

I bought this generator to replace a previous, less powerful one that I had used for 13 years. I was encouraged to by this product by various reviews on it from differen sources.
I was impressed by what you got for the money, the 2yr warranty and the rapid delivery to me.
I unpacked the generator to find many useful features. I filled it with oil, to the required level, added petrol and decided to had start it at first. The generator fired up and ran from the second pull. After a few minutes I stopped it and tried the electric start, which work perfectly and for the small extra price seemed a good idea, especially if others are to start this machine.
Obviously, I cannot comment on long term reliability but, at the moment Imwould not hesitate to buy this product again or to recommend it to others.
I live in a pretty remote rural location and it’s not unusual in winter to have the overhead power lines down for 24 hours or so. This will run fridge-freezer, lights, TV and more …brilliant with heat from a log stove ( own felled and cut logs)
We have a mobile bar business and needed a smart, portable, easy to use generator – and we needed this all very last minute. We ordered this on Tuesday and it was delivered on Thursday as promised. My partner set this up within minutes and it looks sleek and feels sturdy. Couldn’t be happier.
This was purchased to replace current unit, which had recoil start only. This 6500w-e has electronic start, but the recoil is comparatively very easy to use as well. Purpose is as standby as we occasionally lose mains in our remote location, the claimed maximum continuous 10 hour use should not be a problem. Enough supply to keep household going, including boiling the kettle! Highly recommend.
Delivered earlier than expected, meaning it wasn’t a rush to assemble everything.
Starts perfectly and supplies a steady output just as required.
Key for the keystart is very cheap and nasty, just a flat piece of metal so any flat key or a screwdriver will do the same job, not exactly a security item as anyone could start it at any time!
Not too loud either when running so ok during the daytime but might be a little loud to use at night for a campervan or motorhome.
All said a good package just let down a little by the key start.
Ordered on Wednesday and it was delivered on Friday. Filled it with petrol and oil and it started first time. Excellent machine and service.
The instruction manual supplied was for the recoil starter model, however most people can suss it out if it is what we got the Electric Start one.
My wife said to me why are you paying for a Generator that is well below the cost for what we paid for the Honda one we got. Never argue but lets get on with it.
Well she was proven wrong and admits it.
This is one hell of a generator, took a while to get used to starting it up using the recoil starter, but that needs to be checked first as you should not only rely on the electric starter as battery could be flat. Once everything was settled in, First time start 4 pulls.
Then tried the Electric start, kicked arse within 3-4 turns. Cool.
This is the major check. How many units can you operate whilst its working.
This one did surprise me. I plugged into one of the sockets a 4 pin extension lead and lets go. We camp a lot and use a normal household under counter fridge with a freezer compartment to go inside tent. We also have a large Dometic fridge which we use and keep in our Crafter van.
Connected both, no problem. I then plugged in a ‘Numex Leisure battery charger, again no problem.
I then turned off the isolation switch.
Well lets try a kettle, we plugged this into the 2nd socket and boy I was surprised. Once the generator realised it needed more power, it settled in.
Wow !!!!
We have another generator to keep us going, but this one is certainly now our main one. Well worth the money.
I will come back later to add any further comments as we are off for a 2 week camping spree.
So far I would recommend this to anybody.
Follow up on Review
We recently went camping at Malvern Autumn show. Prior to that I had a few minor issues but resolved. All I can say is what a fantastic and very professional approach the customer services have been. Mark sorted the problem out (Minor I might add), and we spent a very enjoyable long weekend + with power kicking arse. Well done team and I would recommend this generator 150%. Not only for performance, but customer service. After our long weekend away with camping friends, they will be getting one x 3 couples.
If anybody whats to ask a question then please do as this has been fully tried and tested in UK camping and when we went abroad. If you do a lot of camping then get one.
We had 2 fridges, power for our electric in the tent and I might add my mate pinched one of the sockets and it still kept going. Electric kettle went on and no problems.
