Used these in studio and live, Absolutely reliable after 3 years these have never dropped out. I charge these every other day on average and the use time seems the same as when I brought them. Cannot fault.

(meravigliosi!)

I have used the Boss WL-20L in live situations on acoustic guitar and bass and in rehearsals on Keyboard and violin. In all situations they have worked really well with no noticeable latency in playing and they have not dropped out.

I am really pleased with the Boss WL-20L

This is a robust and compact wireless cable replacement. extremely well made and works well over long distances (10m through solid walls). Works perfectly with passive pick-ups on my Gretsch, Ibanez and Yamaha guitars. The WL-20 version (supposedly for passive pick-ups) made a fairly loud buzzing noise through the amp so I exchanged it for this which solved the problem. Oh, and it might knock out your WIFI while you’re using it too- so be warned!

You do need to be patient when doing first charge, it takes a while. After that recharging is pretty quick.
I have used it continuously for a 4 hour session and it lasted just fine; I have no reason to doubt their claimed battery charge life.
I chose this version as I wanted to use with both electric and acoustic guitars.
(I already have a wl50 on my pedalboard – so knew the technology worked).

The sound is incredible, however I haven’t noticed a completely stable performance while using at gigs. I do get occasional drop out/loss in quality. However, luckily not disastrously noticeable or anything, and seems to hold their charge.

Bought this as i have a schecter silver mountain with a sustaniac pickup, i get an annoying ticking sound whether i plug into the boss gt100 or straight into amp when using the schecter, so no use for that guitar.
other guitars with passive pickups it is flawless, easy set up and linking, should have just bought the WL20 and saved a few s, schecter works no problem with the Boss WL60
did contact Roland/Boss and they suggested using a short extension cable between the guitar and WL20L which i dont see the point in doing

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve been using a Line6 Relay G10 for years. Recently my spare transmitter broke down, so I looked into some alternatives to see if there was anything better by now. Since the form factor of the WL20L is quite similar to the G10 it was obvious to start there..

    Charging:
One big advantage of the WL20L over the G10 is the USB charging of the transmitter. The receiver also has a battery, but since I don’t feel like keeping track of two units being charged I mostly leave it’s USB cable attached.

    Battery life and Standby:
The WL20L battery life is supposed to be 12 hours while the G10s is 8 hours. No discussion here.
While the G10 enters standby after 5 minutes of silence the WL20L stays connected for another hour.
This is debatable. I’ve heard people complain about the G10 going to sleep during short breaks in their gigs. So in a live situation you might like the WL20 better for that reason.
If you mostly play at home on the other hand and maybe pick up your guitar for several small jams or practices with longer breaks in between the unit will loose up to 1 hour of battery each time, which is of course less than ideal.
You might argue that the relative buffer of 4 hours more compared to the G10 should probably make up for that, but that’s only in direct comparison and it does shorten the hypothetical 12 hours of playing time quite a bit under certain circumstances.
Another thing to notice is that even in standby the blinking of the LED will drain the battery, so eventually you’ll want to unplug the transmitter. I would have preferred an on/off switch. And I don’t need the LED to indicate standby at the cost of battery life, but that’s just my opinion.

    Sound:
Out of the box the WL20L has an extremely bright sound, which can be expected given the absence of a cable simulation, so no loss of treble.
After a lot of AB comparing my sound through a cable, the G10 and the WL20 I managed to dial in an EQ in my setup to make the WL20L sound almost like the G10, which in turn sounds almost like the cable.
While I was slightly annoyed to have to do that I now appreciate the fact that I have the treble frequencies at my disposal and can choose to leave them through for some of my darker sounding guitars. Just keep in mind that this unit might make your sound rather shrill unless you insert an EQ in your chain.
If I was to be extremely critical I would have to say that the G10 still sounds a little better and more importantly “feels” better. It has a slightly more fluid attack and a more direct response while the WL20L feels a bit compressed, which makes the attack stand out ever so slightly. It’s almost like a tiny bit of latency, although objectively I think the WL20 is every bit as fast as the G10. (On paper even faster I think)

    Final thoughts:
If the Line6 G10 had a better battery life and charging options I would have stuck with it for the slightly more natural response and “smoother” sound.
(FYI: The G10T can be used with the Yamaha THR wireless version)

Even though I don’t quite love the sound and feel of the WL20L it’s still pretty good.
And being able to charge a second transmitter via USB to have it ready as a replacement is just much more convenient than needing a second receiver just for charging, like the G10 does.
The fact that you can even charge the WL20L while using it is also nice.
(FYI: The WL20 transmitter is also compatible with the Waza Air Headphones, so if you own those you have two transmitters to use with either receiver)

Richtig richtig gut!

Although you can get a version from Boss with cable simulation, I felt that it sounded a little too dull in the YouTube videos I watched. This model sounds great, no perceptible latency and the top end isn’t harsh to my ears, just nicely bright. Great for wandering offstage to soundcheck the band!

These are great, plug & play straight from the box after a good charge – have worked flawlessly every time I have used them. Nice rugged construction as well. Highly recommended…

I’d tried cheaper versions of guitar WiFi systems but none of them come close to the quality of this product. Basically you get what you pay for. Well worth paying the extra.

Simple to use and effective at gigs. Takes a long time to charge up, but works well.

I was previously using a cheap nasty wireless guitar sender…this one is fantastically robust and works a treat. Lot of money but well worth it.
