Perfect headset for gamers.
This headset is perfect for gamers. I bought this headset half price as it was already used with ‘slight damage’ and honestly… there was no damage AT ALL, not even on the packaging. The mic quality is amazing, clear and crisp. Along with sound quality, its just perfect. Overall 10/10 must buy headset for gamers.
Great Bluetooth connectivity
The quality of this headset and the sound quality are both really good, but it does seem a little lack luster for the overall price of this.
Really comfortable to wear while gaming, especially when gaming and wearing these for long periods of time, with it being adjustable for a better fit.
The mic itself is great, which makes these perfect for when you’re playing online with people, or even if you use them in work for online conference calls, as my husband learned when he borrowed these for work when his work ones no longer worked.
The wireless and Bluetooth aspect of this is fantastic and connects quite easily, without losing any of the quality from it being wireless.
Fantastic Dolby Atmos sound!
Fantastic for Gaming, music etc…., great sounds with the free Dolby Atmos & so comfortable, and the microphone so easy to use, up for off, down for on! Although the cost was much more than I normally spend I can see now what I have been missing out on! Would highly recommend.
top class head se
i have bought and sold every headset under the sun from steel series to asto ive had it and sold it ,, but the HS 80 is by far the best headset out them all the sound the comfort the build beat them all and at the price too it’s a steal
Love them.
I would recommend these to anyone from a gamer to a casual YouTube music listener. I ware them for hours at a time gaming no sweaty ears, Really nice piece of kit.
Great headset! Super Comfortable!
I’ve had my Razer Kraken Championship Edition for 7 years and never had a wireless headset until now.
This is super comfy, compared to the ear cups I had before that started to fall apart this mesh material actually feels more comforting.
The sound is great, actually a lot less harsher than the Razer.
Super Premium!
Not really tested on gaming yet but I’m sure its miles better than what I had.
I recommend this headset just because its Corsair and the price is actually good for what you get.
UPDATE: After almost 2 weeks of usage, I have found that the battery life is definately not that it advertises, I have had a few occasions where I would use it for around 2 hours and the battery dies, not sure if this is a fault or something but after less than 2 weeks its a bit concerning.
But they’re still comfortable to wear and sound great.
I bought this after reading and watching lots of reviews for this headset. I have the Corsair virtuoso as well so I was looking to pick up something for a spare set just in case of issues one day. Any way even after adjusting the head band on it I will find it causes pressure around the top of my ears, plus around the edges. My ears fit inside the cups I don’t even have big ears just quite average really.
The sound after tuning the headset in icue using 8 channel 24bit audio sound really good not sure if it’s slightly better than the Virtuoso but the kids and highs were more crisp than Corsair’s flagship headphones. Bass is there not boom rumble type bass like on other brands but it’s got a nice depth to it doesn’t sound muddy or distorted.
On the fence about returning them at the moment because of the ear pressure problem. I actually find the Corsair virtuoso more comfortable on my average size head!
Edit:
I decided to keep the headset, I bought a set of ear cushions on Amazon for around 15 they are the velvet ones with the pleather. I tried protein leather at first and did not help with the discomfort I felt around my ears. Happy to say the velvet and pleather style works better for me. Decent headset if you don’t want to go crazy on 200 headphones. This one is more friendly on the pocket. Side note on Dolby Atmos, I don’t think it’s terrible, it sounds ok but I found just tuning icue EQ to my preferences did a way better job and shows as 8 channel audio 24 bit 48 000 hz where as in Dolby Atmos mode you only show 2 channels. but at 96 000 hz honestly I prefer icue though to manage the sound stage.
UPDATE 07MAR23: The cool LED lighting has an enormous impact on the battery life. Turn it off, really change the colour to black, and the battery life is suddenly exactly where you want it. Having no issues with battery life now. For info the lights you can turn off are the ones on the sides of the earpieces. The mic light and power/status obviously stay on. There must be something not quite right in the earpiece LED power circuits as they are clearly drawing way too much from the battery. I can do a 10 hour session without issue and there’s still plenty of charge in them. Much happier than I was. Have increased review to 4 stars as this shouldn’t really be an issue, and changed the title of the review.
I bought these because the sound quality was superb for gaming and for audio in Discord etc… There are no arguments on that front, the sound is superb and the surround is really excellent. They are great to wear for those 10 hour sessions you don’t admit to having and they look good. I’ve not had headphone fatigue wearing them yet.
But there is a downside. And that’s the battery life. It’s awful, really really poor. In a D&D session I get a low battery warning after 3 hours and a critical battery warning not long after. They do last a bit longer if you don’t plug them in but not that much. For anything over 4 hours you really need them plugged in which completely negates the entire reason for buying them. I’m very seriously considering swapping them for something with a sensible battery life, something with at least 12 hours.
So, great headphones with a critical flaw. If you don’t play games or need wireless for more than 4 hours you can buy with confidence because the quality of sound is excellent. But if you need battery life I’d say on balance you should look elsewhere.
The most comfortable headset I have ever used, incredibly light and yet a quality build. Doesn’t pinch, pull or press, and wearing them for hours upon hours out of the box was no trouble. I wear glasses under the headset, this has caused no irritation at all for me- although I do have lightweight and thin frames. It’s filtering out most the background noise from our home, I can’t hear the door bell or TV but I can hear the dog barking.
Out of the box this headset does NOT have good sound for FPS/survival. The depth/direction is impossible to pinpoint. Where I (with Sennheiser Game One) used to be able to point out shots on the exact number on the compass, I now will have a sort of “south-south west ish” sort of idea where sounds are coming from. And the distance is much harder to pinpoint. Out of the box they could be anywhere, even above me, it was a complete mess. To combat this you HAVE TO install Dolby Atmos via the Windows Store, it will then auto-sort the license and apply spatial sound in Windows. You can then tweak it in the Dolby app to sound much better for whatever game you are playing. Before doing this I literally couldn’t tell if the sound came from left or right, it was just everywhere and above all at once. Some sounds will sound more metal-y and “thin” than you are used to if you are coming from a higher quality headset, and with the added Dolby Atmos the overall sound levels will be a bit lower than it is from the box. Still more than loud enough though, as it’s borderline too loud out of the box.
For playing strategy games, watching youtube, chatting etc, it’s an amazing headset and needs very little adjustments. It’s ready to go with the iCUE software, where there are a couple presets to choose from.
The microphone is great out of the box, needed nothing at all. It does mute itself sometimes a couple times a week, I don’t know why, I just have to troubleshoot the mic in windows and it will unmute it.
Turn off all and any light effects to have longer battery life. The battery isn’t that big, likely to ensure it’s a lightweight headset. Any lighting will drain the battery and you don’t see the lights anyway. I have it all off, when I am on a gaming binge I easily get 8 hours of play time and still not fully depleted at that point. I see others mentioning only getting 6 hours out of them but that has not been the case for me. You can choose how long it will stay active before automatically shutting off, which is great, I put mine to 10 minutes but could probably do with just 5 to save even more battery. Turns on in 2 sec anyway.
All in all I am very pleased with the headset, just wish the positional audio was a lot better as I do play a lot of FPS/survival games where that is key. If that part of the audio was on point from the start this would be a smash hit for me. I will keep this as it’s super comfy and I needed to go wireless, and the audio is good enough now that it’s been tweaked. I would recommend getting this on a discount/from the Amazon warehouse if you are getting it. If positional audio is more important to you and you can miss a little of the comfort, the Pro X is maybe the better choice in the same price range.
