Deeper START Smart Fish Finder – Castable Wi-Fi fish finder for recreational fishing from dock, shore or bank
Charging
The Deeper Start charges in 2.5 hours and uses a convenient USB cable that is compatible with any USB port. The battery lasts for 6 hours of continuous usage for more than enough opportunity to get your catches in. For best use, make sure your fish finder is fully charged.
Connecting
It’s so easy to get up and running with START. Use the barrel swivel to securely attach the fishing line to your Start fish finder and automatically start by placing it in the water. Pair your fish finder to your phone via its settings (as you would with any Wi-Fi connection). Once connected, open the free Deeper app and get fishing!
Important: Make sure you have turned off all Wi-Fi assistance on your smartphone (e.g., “Wi-Fi Assist” on iOS) or switch off Cellular Data altogether. This will ensure an uninterrupted connection.
Casting
Now the fun part, you’re ready to cast out! Your START has an impressive connection range of 165 ft / 50 m. To ensure a solid connection, do not put your phone on the ground or in your pocket. We recommend using the Deeper smartphone mount for your rod for a truly seamless experience.
Scanning
Once your fish finder hits the water, you’ll start to see fish and depth data on your smartphone screen. Slowly reel in the fish finder and you will see changes in depth and fish location. If you don’t see any fish icons, then it’s time to move to a new spot and try again!
Important: The screen will scroll from right to left even if your sonar is stationary. That’s because your fish finder is constantly sending out scanning beams.

Funktion sehr gut, leider wahrscheinlich undicht geworde
Die App Steuerung funktionierte Problemlos ebenso der Deeper bis er wahrscheinlich undicht geworden ist, benutzt wurde dieser vom ufer aus, ich denke das bei einer nutzung am futterboot dies nicht so schnell passiert oder es war nur ein materialfehler, aufjedenfall hat die rckabwicklung problemlos funktioniert und ich werde demnchst die pro version kaufen oder den chirp und diesen am futterboot fixieren, man konnte wirklich przise die stellen ausfindig machen und auf welcher hhe sich die fische befinden inklusiv gre usw. auch bei nacht war der deeper gut im wasser erkennbar, alles in allem 4 sterne da ich von der simplen bedienung und det przision berzeugt wurde

Mehr als Zufriede
Ich habe den Deeper Start zum ausprobieren bestellt, da ich nicht direkt mehrere hundert Euro fr ein Sonar ausgeben wollte.
ein paar Tage nach Lieferung bin ich mit dem Kajak Angeln gewesen und habe den Deeper Start am Kajak angebracht. Tiefen wurden gut angezeigt, Fische und Untergrund wurden angezeigt.
Der Akku hielt ganze 10 stunden ohne verbindungsunterbrechung. Am ende ist das Handy vor dem Deeper Start in die Knie gegangen und der Akkustand beim Deeper Start lag bei ungefhr 10%. Das einzige was ein ich ein bisschen bemngeln kann, 2 mal ist die Verbindung kurzzeitig abgebrochen und der Scan wurde nicht fortgesetzt. Allerdings gab es keine Meldung oder sonstiges. Ohne neustarten der App wre nichts aufgezeichnet worden.
Dennoch wrde ich den Deeper Start empfehlen als Gadget zum Angeln um den Gewssergrund zu erkunden um die Hotspots zu finden.

This isn’t the top of the line unit, but it is exactly what I wanted for the price. It reads depth, hard bottom, soft bottom (reads muck, weeds, trees, etc. as the same thing). I’ve never been able to cast it out farther than it will communicate using the WiFi. It has really given me insight into small bodies of water I THOUGHT I knew what the bottom was like and depth was.

Works like a charm. Would advise to put a stronger swivel clip on it though. We take it carp fishing, too local lakes/ponds/ even to the pier to fish the bay. It’s helped us catch quite a bit!

Very happy with purchase! The Deeper Start showed us where the fish were, and we caught 3 the first day! I put my phone in a water-proof bag held around my neck with a lanyard. I wasn’t comfortable mounting it on my pole.

A mi en lo personal me sirvi bastante para ver en qu lugares hay peces y la verdad es que me sorprend porque encontr pescados hasta en donde menos pensaba que existan. Te detecta perfectamente bien la profundidad, y la profundidad donde estn los peces .. altamente recomendado

Fantastic bit of kit for the price! It is very accurate with indicating the depth of water and sea floor terrain. You need to understand how to read sonar readings to find fish. The basic mode throws up too many fish that are simply not there. It is best to use raw mode with fish icons. This was taken off the side of my local pier.

I had excellent results on the first try for an hour with the “deeper start” then the device stopped working and would not connect to wifi

Give the unit time to connect . It can be a little slow.
The graphics are excellent, the schools of salmon were located quickly
However, remember that even when you find them they may not be on the bite!

Guter Einsteiger Fischfinde
Fr den Einstieg um mal zu schauen wie Tief Gewsser sind und wo etwas Struktur stattfindet reicht das aus mit dem Deeper Start. Aber leider mehr auch nicht. Wer mehr Informationen haben mchte muss zu den hheren Modellen von Deeper greifen die dann aber auch nicht ganz so gnstig sind.
Mir reicht das erstmal aus und in Zukunft schau ich mal ob sich ein besseres Modell lohnt. Aufjedenfall fr Einsteiger empfehlenswert.
Works well for the money, I only wish it could get the fish to bite too. It is easy to use and the app is easy to read. I have hit it on a few rocks and it still works so it is durable as well. I only wish the battery would last a little longer, because fishing all day will drain the battery.

At first, it’s a bit confusing but when you use it a few times. It’s fun and easy to use.
Here’s a few tips: Down load app; Fish Deeper it’s a basic app for Deeper start on your cellphone. Follow easy instructions from your Deeper. Once at lake or pond. Cast deeper into 3 feet or higher water so it can connect. Make sure your wifi is connected to deeper start. For any reason it’s not working perfectly.
You need to do the following! (1) Very important to turn off your VPN if you have one. Go to settings and turn off VPN to internet once at lake or pond. (2) for better connection do this. Go to settings on your cellphone and go to Apps. Hit symbol app, then hit storage, clear cache. Repeat all app symbols and clear cache. Especially the internet and wifi apps. This will make your cellphone faster and easier to connect to wifi on your cellphone on to your Deeper start. (3) Go to settings on cellphone, go to Notifications; Turn ON; DO NOT DISTURB if you have one? (4) for any reason it does not want to work: turn off internet
Once you play with it a few times. You will have a blast. Remember! The batteries used on most devices are lipo batteries. After used the battery needs to be at 45-50 percent power (storage mode). Not in used, To maintain and help your battery last for many years.
For fishing line? I was using 40lbs braided line on a baitcasting rod and reel.

He went to one of his regular spots and pulled in the most fish he’s ever gotten there in a single night also the largest fish he’s ever gotten at this specific spot (15 lb catfish) he did have to turn off his data as it says to do so he’s going to download the app on one of his old phones to use. Once data was off it worked perfectly.

Incredibly easy to use. Great to find hidden depths. Gives that extra confidence to be mobile as you can quickly establish areas to fish without the normal hassle.
Mildly terrifying at first to cast out a lovely looking bit of electronic kit however following the guidance on line strength and triple checking your knot ensure it quickly feels normal.
I love the depth finder aspect, however have found the fish locator a little underwhelming having failed to register fish visible to the naked eye, and other wise has not shown its self to highlight any fish. I have checked my app settings to ensure this setting was on.
Overall a solid, well built product that does increase my knowledge of the lake I am fishing on. The depth finder saves time and has shown to be accurate in my experience. The fish locator has not been useful to me personally however the depth finders usefulness outweighs this issue.
A really solid gift idea for a coarse angler.

I was not catching any fish and when I used this unit is distinctly showed that due to the warmer water the fish had moved into deeper water in which I really need a boat now to reach those spots. Thanks to this unit now I have to go buy a fishing Kayak. LOL.

Nos ha resultado muy fcil de usar, la aplicacin se instala sin problemas y automticamente al tocar agua se empareja a la primera, dando una serie de informacin sobre profundidad y tamao de los peces de forma rpida y precisa.
Los primeros das hemos realizado unas pruebas en el puerto, en una zona con aguas transparentes de la Ra de Vigo, y pudimos comprobar como detecta perfectamente los peces y su tamao, ya que tambin los podamos ver, incluso en poca profundidad.
Cuando un producto cumple exactamente con las expectativas y la informacin facilitada quedas satisfecho y hay poco ms que decir.
Solamente aadir que la empresa enva automticamente unos vdeos explicativos sobre el funcionamiento y tambin puedes descargar mapas offline a tu mvil, ideal cuando ests en zonas con poca o nula cobertura.
Tanto si eres aficionado a pescar, ests aprendiendo o incluso para los amantes de la naturaleza, es un aparato muy eficaz.
Para los ms peques de la familia va a resultar muy instructivo y animador

Absolute Empfehlung!
Hatte das Problem an einem neuen Gewsser die guten Stellen nicht zu kennen. Mit Hilfe des Deeper habe ich in 2 Stunden 2 km abgesucht und ausgelotet. Man wusste nicht nur wo die Fische stehen, sondern auch wie tief diese stehen und wie die Bodenstruktur ist. Top!
The only thing I would suggest is before using this product you should go to the website and watch the instructional video. Because the written directions can kinda get garbled up a bit. Other than that it works just as I wanted. It'll definitely tell you where and how deep the fish are. It's up to you to catch um.

1a um sich ein Überblick über die Angelstelle zu verschaffe
Es funktioniert super, am Angelplatz angekommen, kann man sich schnell einen berblick ber die Bodenstucktur machen, und so bzw. abfallende Kanten schnell finden. Was jedoch nerft sind die Fischsymbole welche zB. auch durch abgestorbenes Kraut ausgelt werden. Eine normalansicht des Echobildes wre technisch zwar machbar, ist vom Hersteller jedoch nicht gewnscht. Fr ein regulres Bild soll man geflligst mehr berappen.( Deshalb auch nur 4 statt 5 Sterne) Von daher wirklich nur geeignet um die Bodenstrucktur zu erkennen. Schlamm wird etwas irritierend grn dargestellt, genauso wie Pflanzen, wenn der Deeper sie nicht mit Fischen verwechselt.

Parfait pour dbuter la pche l’aide d’un sondeur dans un budget raisonnable :
points forts :
-hyper accessible et facile la prise en main

-super mode d’emploi
Points faible:
-peut prcis sur les poissons en dessous (ex: il suffit que il soit un peut soit les herbiers et les logiciels deconne)
-le mode de lecture “simplifi” sur le modle est sympa pour que les dbutant puisse tenter de voir des poissons sur le tlphone mais souvent le logiciel doit avoir quelques problmes et du mal fonctionner correctement.
En bref super pour dbuter ( savoir la profondeur , si il y a des herbiers ou des bancs de poissons ).

Macht sein Ding. Gute Auflsung/ Empfindlichkeit. Zeigt Kanten und Fischschwrme genau an. Reichweite der W-LAN Verbindung liegt jedoch bei Max. 30 m im stabilen Bereich.

Je pche souvent des endroits diffrents, j’aime savoir siil y a du poisson sur le coup , la nature du fond, la profondeur etc, c’est appareil est parfait, mais j’ai perdu le cable usb de chargeement et ce cable est vraiment spcifique on en trouve pas …… Est il possible d’en acheter un sans devoir racheter un appareil ?

Per chi e alle prime armi e non ha bisogno di mappature e geolocalizzazione un ottimo prodotto ad un ottimo prezzo. Anche in notturna azionando la voce il deeper lampeggia cos da vedere sempre dove si trova. Consigliato

Aufgeladen und gleich ausprobiert an unserem Vereinsgewsser. Es hat hervorragend funktioniert. Kein Abbruch der Verbindung wenn die Hinweise der App bercksichtigt werden. Die Tiefen wurden erkannt und der Grund mit Bewuchs oder freie stellen angezeigt. Fische natrlich auch. Zu erkennen war gro und klein. Also fr mich als Hobbyangler um die tiefen und Bodenstrucktur in fremden Gewssern zu erkennen super und empfehlenswerte Gert.

Also, ich war ein bisschen skeptisch, aber das kleine Teil funktioniert und es liefert klare Bilder vom Grund, misst stndig die Tiefe und zeigt Fische an. Bin total begeistert. Wrde es jederzeit wieder kaufen.

After reading the reviews I was on the fence. I purchased the item while its on sale. To prevent people from have the same issues I had try this. Fill up ur bathtub let it float and start up the app. the sonar will update (this will prevent alot of headaches). Now just follow the instructions from that point. Make sure to turn off “mobile data” to have better connectivity. It work amazingly good. I use a Samsung s10+.
Setup was very easy on my iPhone 7, and the Deeper Start is simple to use. It’s a bit heavy to use as a bobber, so I put in on a spare casting rod with 50-pound braided line. Battery life is sufficiently long, and I like the instant off when removed from water. It shows plenty of fish in the murky water around my dock, and I honestly don’t know whether to believe it or not. I suspect that it interprets some inanimate objects as fish and considers several minnows as one larger fish. Nevertheless, it’s fascinating to use and helpful in assessing depth and perhaps activity. It’s a STARTer sonar unit, and I wasn’t expecting precision or perfection. Perhaps, later, I’ll find out that it’s accurate too.

Macht das was er soll, die Tiefen werden relativ genau angezeigt, auch Fische signalisiert das Gert recht zuverlssig, in Verbindung mit der App recht komfortabel. Hatte nur schon einmal Probleme die Verbindung zum Smartphone wieder herzustellen. Hoffe das war eine Ausnahme…..wenn nicht wird die Bewertung berarbeitet. Bin Alles in Allem zufrieden.
A true winner for the husband! He was out all of Christmas day afternoon mapping out ponds and lakes. He absolutely loves it. Really well made. Would highly recommend to any fisherman or fishermans wife.

Buy it because it really works. I seen the fish I caught the fish. It simply works. As a matter of fact, I told my buddy where the fish was and he caught one too. It works. This is a crappie fish in the picture I caught from the bridge we fish at with the sonar. Buy it don’t hesitate. P.S the weather was 60 degrees on December 26th the day after Christmas I got this as a gift from my wife and showed her the picture she knew the money wasn’t a waste please get it you will stand a better chance of catching fish. Nice sounding alarm when fish are in the area can also show the depth of the fish in the area. Mine showed fish at 1 and 6 and 12 feet. Got a consistent reading of 7.5 feet in the deep end so any readings I get from using at a lake I just add a foot to that which is no big deal. Charging is simple. I like the magnetic connector. All in all it is a simple, easy to use fish finder that suits my needs very well

The Deeper Start is a basic fish finder that is much easier to use, and more dependable for me than the competitors model. The application used seems much less “fussy” and prone to problems than my previous fish finder. It will tell you how deep the water is, whether or not fish are found in the area, their relative size, the contour of the bottom, and the presence of weeds. It does not have a “raw view”, but I never used that anyway. It is small, the battery charges up quickly, and I’ve never come close to using up all the battery power while on the water. My sole minor complaint is that it measures depth from the tops of the weeds. In a very weedy lake, this means you will get some messages saying “water too deep or too shallow”, at which time it stops working until you pass to an area where the weeds are further from the surface. I would buy this finder again and find it quite functional, if not packed full of options.

I know this product works because I have caught bass by casting right past where it says they are and fishing back to the bank. Trouble I have is it almost takes two people to really utilize the app and fish at the same time. I have sort of solved that by rather than casting it out and dragging it in, I cast it out in the opposite direction the wind is blowing and let it drift right to left or left to right depending on the wind. Also, it shows a lot of fish in a small area. not sure how accurate it really is, but then again, I have only used it 4 times!

I tested this out in a lake that I know is 6-8 feet and it read 56 feet deep and it kept saying out of water while it was IN the water
Update: originally gave it 1 star. Upping to 4 now that I have used it consistently for over a year. It works better in deep, calm water. If its windy or slight chop it will tell you that its out of water. Works best if you turn off your cell service and only connect to the float. Worked great on identifying trout from blue gills while on a canoe.

This newest product from the Deeper team is a great entry level fish finder for those who need somewhere to start. Not only is it affordable, but the interface is friendly and not riddled with advanced features. I have the Deeper Pro+ and I’m still learning on that device. This is great for kids and newer anglers who want to know how to read water and how that pertains to how they want to fish. I’m excited to use this with my girlfriends little sister to help her learn more about the places we fish. Killer product Deeper!

Especially if your just scanning around docks or shoreline and your not casting and scanning a whole bunch of water. This little guy will get the job done! I absolutely love it. First off I’ve been using the Deeper Pro+ for a couple years now myself. My son has just started to get back into fishing after several years. I wanted to get him a Deeper to help him since he does mostly shore fishing and some kayak fishing. I tried it out before giving it to him and found it anything but a basic entry level unit. Upon opening it is very solid and well built, yet lightweight. It does not open like my Pro + model, however it charges from the outside with an included USB charging cable. It had some features of my Pro + model, was surprised to see the Fish ID, which shows “fish” icons and actual depth of each fish marked. Also has a live readout of actual water depth and a nice chart readout of the lake bottom. This is great for the beginning or casual angler. Having a sonar like the “Boat” guys do from shore is a real plus! The downloadable app also includes a weather screen, to show current and future conditions as well as a solunar calendar and moon phase which I personally find useful. The app also lets you document your catches and photograph your trophy, right from the Deeper app so you can keep a log. All in all very impressed in the performance of such an inexpensive unit.. I know my son will absolutely love this tool in his arsenal. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to get an inexpensive portable sonar, without sacrificing quality. For me, the Deeper “Start” gets an A++. Now that I am done, I guess I have to give it my son!
