This product is quite good although it does have its problems. It is a great way of turning your phone into a mobile gaming unit. The device itself, felt a bit plasticy but the buttons felt reasonable and responded well. I found it a bit tricky to set up as the instructions aren’t brilliant, I did watch the video and after quite a while figured out how to set it up. I still don’t understand 100% how to get the buttons mapped for the game play but managed to get it working enough to enjoy playing most games. I found it worked best for playing games from the Xbox cloud, I do have fast internet so this wasn’t a problem. I think it’s a neat little device, very natty for being able to turn my phone or even an old phone into a portable hand held machine and Overall, im happy with this gadget although it could be a little more user friendly for the non tech geeks like me!

The X2 was made specifically for Xbox gaming. It has all of the face and trigger buttons of a regular Xbox controller but is half as big and fits most Android devices that support USB-C.

Even though it wasn’t too hard to play games with less fingerwork, like first-person shooters, the triggers and bumpers were responsive and held up well when I put them to the test. Even though they feel cheap and fragile, they allow for tactile feedback and respond well to light presses.

Even though some of the buttons, like the D-pad and triggers, feel cheaply made, the controller as a whole is made of a fairly sturdy material.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent gaming experience

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI got this because I was unable to get the good ones (Kishi or Backbone) as they are nowhere to be found. So I got this instead. The bottom line is that I do not regret my choise even if playing car games is a hassle (there are no triggers)

    PRO:
    – price is allright;
    – material quality is ok;
    – it has no battery thus it has no lag;
    – if you need to you can charge your phone while using it;
    – there is no need to install any softare; also, no configuration is required… it’s plug and play;
    – package includes neat case and thumbstick protective covers (kudos for that guys);

    CONS:
    – it is made in China so I expect it to stop working very very soon;
    – they could have made a better job to accommodate the camera bumps from an iPhone 13 PRO for example; because of this the phone will never be straight;
    – there are no triggers… just buttons. So we can’t really call it a gamepad;

What a great little device, I had some issues with my Huawei P30 pro not working but I tested with my neighbours and my wife’s P30 and it works fine so I believ this to be a fault with my phone.
The gamepad was easy to connect and worked flawlessly straight away. I was in and out of games quickly and apart from the typical lag on gamepass itself the controller was perfect.
I tested on a few android games and this worked well.

Well worth it if you enjoy gaming on the go and cames with a good case to keep it safe.

    Fantastic gamepad

This is a very capable controller that works really well with Android phones.

It fits the Pixel 6 Pro perfectly and works brilliantly with the game pass side of things. You get 1 month free but after that you will have to pay. Game pass is awesome and theres loads of games to choose from.

Anything outside of game pass is hit as miss. This is why 1 star is knocked off as some games work and some don’t. I really hoped this would work with Genshin Impact but unfortunately it doesn’t work. As Genshin is missing from the switch, this would been a great way to have Genshin on a handheld, but sadly not. It does work with some games like Sonic, but not all which is a shame.

Overall it is really good, the buttons feel great and the triggers are good, its just that lack of some support that takes off 1 star for me.

This is amazing, worked out of the box with my Samsung Flip 3. Connected right away with no setup. Makes mobile gaming a bit better but my main use was to stream my pc to it. Makes for a better visual experience than the steam deck (as long as you’re using a decent gaming pc) and super portable!

Let’s cut to the chase, there are two issues that I have with this controller.

    1. The usb-c won’t go far enough in to function with a case on your phone. I have the thinnest possible case on mine, just your extremely simple thin clear case. It’s only about 1mm thick but this is enough to mean the usb-c does not insert far enough. I don’t like having to take the case off every time I use it. To be fair, I have this same issue when I tried the Razor Kishi. I was hoping this didn’t have that problem.

    2. The abxy buttons on mine don’t feel very nice. They are probably the most unsatisfying “press” I’ve ever experienced on a controller. They work fine, they just don’t feel nice at all. There’s barely any travel to them and just doesn’t give that usual tactile feedback I’m used to with buttons. I think it’s mainly due to the lack to travel… Something just doesn’t feel right.

Other than those things I actually really like this controller. It looks and feels nice and works flawlessly in xbox game pass which is my main use. Its responsive and my phone feels totally secure inside without any rattle or movement. everything functions as it should and I really like that “switch” style feeling it gives rather than a controller with a phone clip on. It feels balanced and natural allowing longer gaming sessions without my arms or hands aching.

I also really like the case that comes included. I didn’t actually realise it came with this and I think it’s so useful and a really nice touch.

Usb-c doesn't work with even the thinnest case. Abxy buttons aren't grea

This controller has it all. The face buttons are nice and clicky – in a great quality rather than ‘badly finished’ kind of way, the analogue sticks are precise and accurate, the triggers are smooth and the bumpers are clicky and exactly where you’d want them (the ergonomics on this thing are amazing) The mappable back buttons are a wonderful feature too. This feels like something Microsoft would have brought out themselves, had they seen that GameSir had already perfected everything they’d have brought to the table.
Phone game controllers always felt a bit like an afterthought, trying to ‘make the best of a bad job’ with questionable build quality and aesthetics – NOT HERE. This feels like something that will turn heads, while allowing your true ‘inner gamer’ to shine.

This is amazing. I love everything about this phone games controller. The last handheld console I had was some time ago now, it was a PSP, this blows that out the water. I have tried it with my Sony Xperia 1 iv and my Samsung S21 ultra and it performs well with both phones. I love that there is pass through charging on this controller, gaming can be power hungry but that’s ok when you can have constant power. There are a lot of great games available for Android, some didn’t port well onto the phone with on screen controls, so this is a game changer (in more than one way). It has more buttons than a separate android game pad and it feels very natural in the hand. The buttons have a nice easy to use action and the thumb pads are perfect, the shaped indent makes them easy to use with no slipping. There are shoulder buttons and rear, the rear buttons are configurable making even the most awkward games a pleasure to play. All the controls are responsive and unlike a Bluetooth pad there is no lag at all. The phone is securely held, it feels just like one complete unit. You even get a one-month x-box game pass, I was super excited at that and have discovered some amazing games. You get so much more from this than you would a dedicated console, you get the X-box games, Android games plus there are some amazing old console emulators that port well too. I love being able to play Snes and PSX on my phone and have a controller better than the originals were. Love this controller, you also get a good quality hard shell zip case.

Best controller ever, Great for emulation and Android , months xbox ultra game pass too.

Really well packaged and works a treat for the little one. Obviously only works with android and certain phones so it’s important to check with the manufacture which phones this is comparable with.

The buttons are really well places and has a really good feel to them.

Perfect for a gift on any occasion!

    This thing is really cool.

It’s a good fit in my hands, feels comfortable and it looks great!

My absolute favourite feature is that is has back buttons!

I have both next gen consoles and back buttons are something I cannot play without anymore so this X2 Pro still gives me that edge even though I’m playing mobile.

I absolutely love it I will be ordering another

I wish it supported iPhone as wellit would have been perfect but it is what it is.

As an android gaming controller that also has back buttons I am loving it and I think this is a fantastic product.

    I would highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic little device for on the go gamers!

I expect that this controller would be truly useful for hardened gamers, but for me it is for occasional games. My gaming expertise and knowledge may become more apparent if I tell you that after installing the GameSir app, I installed Sonic the Hedgehog and spent a little too much time playing that.

This looks to be a reasonable quality controller, it comes in a nice protective case and allows pass through charging if it is supported on your phone, on my Google Pixel 6 Pro, it was fine.

It fitted perfectly into the USB C port, but I did have to remove my case first as it wouldn’t reach the socket with it on.

The app was pretty basic, but allowed me to configure (should I have wanted to) the controller, plus update the firmware. I was also able to discover games too.

With Sonic loaded, the joystick and buttons functioned perfectly and were very responsive. I can’t comment on X-Box use or the cloud usage, but for the occasional ancient game that I will play, this seems to be up for the job, so if it works with those I would expect it to work with something more modern.

This won’t work for you if your phone has an off centre USB C port, as the USB plug isn’t moveable.

In addition to the GameSir X2 Pro, you get a one month free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate should you wish to try it. This seems to be an ideal way to easily use you later Android phone to play games more easily.

In the box you get the gamesir x2 pro, you get a nice carry case, a Thankyou card, and a nice sticker, They also provide 4 different thumb caps, and a 1 month game pass code, But this is for new customers, so won’t work with existing subscriptions, So you will need to let you account expire before redeeming this code, but again this was a very nice added extra from gamsir,

The gamsir x2 pro dimensions are 18cm wide, in height around 8cm, and in thickness its it’s around 3cm, The x2 pro’s opening Can stretch to 18cm. And the weight is roughly 181g.

Let me start by saying this new gamesir x2 pro is awesome! It’s a massive improvement on the earlier model the x2,
Gamesir have listened to their fans and made all their ideas come to light in this new device. They’ve made this new x2 pro wider, which now means we can finally fit in larger phones, They’ve made the YXAB buttons much larger, which is awesome! Not only that, These buttons are now removable! If you don’t like the typical xbox layout, you can swap them out for any configuration you desire, an absolutely fantastic feature..
Gamesir finally added hall effect analog triggers, Which the Old x2 was missing!
I’m so pleased we now have triggers at last!
These new triggers have fantastic travel, feel very smooth, & have nice tension & all round a joy to use..
Not only that, gamesir also added M1 M2 back buttons, Which you can programme to front buttons on the faceplate, Such as the Dpad, & XYAB buttons etc,
Gamesir have really Gone all out with this new X2 pro, by adding Kailh micro switches, & Alps 3D Joysticks, everything on this controller feels very clicky, & tactile, As there is nothing worse than mushy buttons when gaming,
I’ve fully tested this controller on various games on gamepass & everything works flawlessly, I’ve also tested this controller with a few android games, such as asphalt 9 etc But not all games support controllers, So bare this in mind when downloading games, I downloaded the new gamsir app from Github, as the app on the play store doesn’t support mapping, unfortunately even with this new app I couldn’t get the mapping to work with CODM, But maybe your’ll have better success..
There was also a new firmware update which now allows you to map the m1 m2 buttons to the Dpad, which I guess was missing before,

I’ve also tested the pass through feature where you can charge your phone whilst playing which worked great, but bear in mind this will not work for all phones.

In my opinion gamesir could’ve added the charging port in the middle, right at the top of the controller, just before it slides to open. This would’ve been perfect! As a slight negative the port is placed in an awkward position, and it can get in the away whilst playing depending on how you hold the controller ofcoarse. Gamesir if you listening Maybe you could implement this in future.

In my honest opinion this is the best controller that gamsir have made to date, they have listened to their customers and implemented these features, which tells me they value their customers,

If you are looking for a nice controller that just works, and are a fan of mobile gaming, Then I can highly recommend this new an improved version, The X2 Pro is the best yet!

The X2 Pro is the best yet!

This is the GameSir X2 Pro Controller and is compatible with USB-C android devices. The item was well packaged and easy to setup.

The controller handles are easily slidable to place a USB-C android phone inside. The controller was easily able to play a selection of first person shooter android games and connect to Xbox games pass to stream a selection of Xbox games. There is minimal input lag when playing android games installed onto my phone, however there was some noticeable input lag when streaming Xbox games via games pass, as expected with all game streaming options.

The joysticks are highly responsive and accurate, while the buttons are tactile and responsive. However, the buttons and joysticks are smaller in comparison to a regular Xbox controller and may cause discomfort for people with larger hands.

There is no inbuilt battery and may drain your phone battery when in use. There is a USB-C port on the controller, however it is not compatible with higher voltage fast chargers (e.g. 100w ultra fast chargers). Due to requiring phones to be inserted without a case, there is exposure to damage if the controller is dropped. The top and bottom edges of the phone are exposed when within the controller.

Overall, I would recommend this item for android gaming and non-competitive game streaming, however would recommend searching for alternatives if you have larger hands due to potential discomfort due the small size of the buttons and joysticks.

    Fantastic android gaming controlle

GameSir X2 Pro Mobile Controller for Android Support

A few months back i reviewed the GameSir x3 and i was fairly impressed with the portable gaming experience while this isn’t the newer X3 you could say this is a more affordable option if your looking to game on the go.

So this uses the same connection method a USB-C to connect your phone to the controller.
This is officially licensed by XBOX so you get the XBOX button layout (this can also be changed to the Nintendo version for personally preference as the buttons are swappable) along with the license there is also a XBOX home button which is a nice little feature for easy access. A screenshot, View and Menu buttons just like on the original XBOX controller.
The top of the controller still has the 4 bumper buttons however, with a noticeable difference which i haven’t seen before on mobile 2x hall effect triggers.
These act more true to the XBOX controllers triggers on the previous models these are just button triggers where on the Pro they are variable so for racing games this gives you more control over the throttle position where the older version its either on or off.
On the back of the controller there are two customizable buttons which can be mapped to your personal preference however, for example if you remap the Y button to one of the back mappable button it does take away the Y button from that location so it only moves the buttons to a more preferred position.

The controller follows the same design as all GameSir controllers the left side slides out so you can slot your phone into the controller.
What i liked about the X3 was the flexible USB-C connection and im happy to say this feature is back, its makes taking the phone out of the controller really easy and alot safer without the worry of breaking the connector.
I used a variety of phones from the Samsung s22 ultra, note plus and fold and this still has more room for a bigger phone if one manufacture decides to make one.
The inside of the controller has this pad in which the phone will sit on so it doesn’t scratch the back of the phone.

When you place the phone in the controller the XBOX logo will have a small white LED light it was flash once this has stopped flashing and the LED is on then this will let you know that the controller is now connected to the phone its really that easy.

Inside the packaging the controller comes in a nice case for protection. the case is black and red piping personally as this is an XBOX themed controller GameSir missed the opportunity to use the green piping to match the XBOX colours obviously this isn’t going to change anything but would have been a nice detail to add.
you get extra rubber nubs just like the previous version of GameSir for the thumbsticks along with a 1 month pass to XBOX game pass (i believe for new players only).

I found the analog sticks to be smooth to use while the A,X,Y,B buttons slightly bigger than the previous model which makes using this controller better and hitting the correct button more precise which i liked alot.
To configure the back button this is a little more complex however, easy to map once you have gone through the step a couple of times.

hold down the View and menu button while also holding down one of the back button you wish to map to your liking.
You should see two white LED on the left side and right side of the controller (located just above the screenshot and XBOX button) then choose the button of your choosing to map that button too.

Another feature for the X2 pro is the fact it has pass through charging you can plug the charger cable and your phone should notice there power going to it. upon reflecting i did however notice that this does charge at 1.4A so its doesn’t have fast charging compatibilities.

While this also allows other emulation like stadia games, google play games ETC there’s ways round that you can you the controller without the need to use the onscreen navigation and i have written about them on the X3 review so i wont states these here as the review is already getting a bit long.
Using the XBOX streaming for the quality for the mobile gaming is rather good and enjoyable to be able to play games without the need of using the console so you can game while on the move. although it works best if you live in a country where XBOX cloud gaming servers work.

Overall This is a great mobile controller that blends familiarity with XBOX users for cloud streaming this can also be used for emulation so this will work if you use stadia and android games for 79 this is a more affordable option than some on the market however if your looking to upgrade your previous X2 controller this is a very good option to look at.

This gamesir pro mobile controller really is an outstanding bit of kit, in the hands it feels premium and the functionality is superb.

In the box there’s a case, the gamesir unit itself, user guides, stickers, a card with one free month of gamepass ultimate and some controller grips.

Connecting the gamesir to the phone is super easy it extends and then your phone clips in, even with a phone case on it fits perfectly. The usb-c connector moves up and down so it’s really easy to remove the phone as well, it’s really slick.

The controller is plug and play, it was working as soon as I connected it, no setting needed to be tweaked and there’s no Bluetooth lag.

I used the free month of GPU and using it in cloud gaming is fantastic! I’ve used an Xbox controller through Bluetooth before on this and the lag can be infuriating at time, without the lag gaming is a joy. It basically turns your phone into a mini switch and I love it. The triggers and buttons all work superbly, having the back buttons is excellent as well.

Overall for me this is a five star product, this is howobile gaming should be played.

    Brilliant for xbox loud gaming

So I was never really into the idea of mobile gaming. I didn’t get with all the touch screen stuff and I didn’t particularly like the idea of having to carry around a controller to play. The other versions of this type of thing were always cheap looking, cheap feeling, didn’t work properly and just overall not a very good user experience. At the prices of the other big brands, I just couldn’t justify it to even try out.

But the GameSir X2 Pro – B is different… and probably rightly so for the price of it!
It’s technically around 69 if you factor in the free month of Game Pass Unlimited.

So I didn’t have high hopes, but I was surprised to see a nice looking and nice feeling, some what, hard case inside the box. When opening the zips I was met with a smooth and silky zip opening, like more so than a normal smooth zip. Still sounds and feels like a zip.. but it’s smooth. I noticed that there’s what looks to be a watertight seal around the zip too. At least for splash and light rain protection. It may also survive a quick dip if you were to drop it in water accidentally. Good protective case! Off to a great start.

As I unveiled the product inside the case, I was again greeted with a pleasant looking innards, not a cheap looking elastic velcro strap to keep the product in place. No loose threads around the netting in the top half of the case. Just.. would you should expect from a product with a higher price like this.

When picking the product up, it didn’t feel cheap.. you know the types. Looks nice, but feels cheap. This isn’t that. Even giving it an attempt at flexing, it holds pretty sturdy! Everything is tactile button wise, but not a heavy, hard to press tactile. A light and bouncy, possibly annoying in a quiet environment kinda of tactile. I’d prefer on the d-pad and the ABXY buttons for them not to be but I get the consistency and that some people don’t like that type of feel. It is Xbox affiliated though so it does match the actual controller. Although it is light tactile in comparison, so there has been some care with attention to that here.
The back buttons are great too, although for clarities sake I will say the M1 button seems to be not the same sound as the M2. I can’t describe it, it’s like the plastic is double clicking on release but it’s not. Like the plastic is clipping on something else or maybe a bit of lubrication or use may see it correct itself. The button still works for sure and DOES NOT double press. But it sounds like it. A very, very minor annoyance that if it happens to you you may notice but maybe not. It still doesn’t effect the playability or the actual product itself beyond that in my experience.

For those wanting to know whether the triggers are buttons or linear like on actual controller.. linear like actual controllers! It was interesting to play on Forza Horizon 5 and actually being able to do 30 round the roads on a phone.
I will say during playing on Metal Hellsinger, where timing is important. I found myself with 110-120ms visual delay and and from 170-220 audio delay when setting up the game. Although I have no reference to go off here as to what is good or bad or for that matter, usual. This may be the case in general with the normal controller to console connection or it could be to do with my internet connection, device power to actually play games or other things. I also don’t know how accurate I am in generally but it definitely

The spring mechanic to keep your phone in place is tight, and sturdy. I flipped it upside down, to the side, on an angle. It was held in place and didn’t slip. This is probably use to the notched rubber sides to help keep that traction. The max extension of the spring is roughly just over 18cm or just over 7 inches. A notch or two past the 18cm and 7inch mark but I was using a tape measure so my measuring is not 100% accurate.

I won’t lie, I didn’t read the description of the product before I received it. So I was nicely surprised to see there was a passthrough USB-C so you can charge while you play. I assume headphones will work but I actually don’t know where my 3.5 to USB-C adapter is to test this out. So take that with a pinch of salt.
Still nice to see a passthrough so you can charge and play!

Included are 2 concave and 2 convex thumbstick grips that enlarge the sticks and give you a bit more accuracy to control them in game. While I did start off without them to test, I did find my adult thumbs are a bit too big so I stuck a pair of concave pads on. Much better! Still not a controller size but better in all regards. And it’s better than using a phone screen! The thumb sticks have a nice bit of resistance too so they’re actually a viable option and quite nice to use.

I can’t really think of what to say apart from all the above, I think that covers most of it.

Cloud gaming still has a way to come in my opinion but it’s much better with a controller actually plugged directly in instead of over a Bluetooth connection.

I can definitely recommend for casual single player experiences. The list of games I play was Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch, Forza Horizon 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Shredders, Battlefield 4 (don’t even both on mobile.. the maps are too big and you can barely see anything, even if you do quick start and get into a lobby with people), Metal Hellsinger, Dead Space (360).

There’s a long list of games, more than I thought would have been on Cloud gaming with Game Pass. So if you have Game Pass Ultimate or any version that allows Cloud gaming, you shouldn’t be stuck for at least something to play!

I can no absolutely see why mobile gaming would be doable and actually enjoyable. Well at least for certain games. The sticks and size may still make some games a little too uncomfortable to play e.g. FPS games (at least in my experience but I do have a bad wrist)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will continue to do so! I can absolutely recommend!

    Premium price, premium feel

Really good option for turning your phone into a handheld gaming device.
Particularly good for emulating old consoles or for things like Minecraft.

It is a bit tricky to use if you’ve got big hands as the hand position is tricky as it’s quite small so the buttons are all very close together. So if you’ve got big hands it can be uncomfortable for long play sessions. That’s to be expected though.

Only other negative is that it feels a bit plasticy and rattles or creaks quite a bit when your using it. Feels like it makes a lot of noise. Seems pretty sturdy though and it’s a very minor complaint.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOverall I like this controller quite a bit, and think it’s a decent value at the price. That being said, there are a few things that could be better.

    Pros:
    – Joysticks, buttons and d-pad all feel very responsive. They have a nice clickiness to them
    – USB-C connection for zero lag. Also, you don’t have to worry about charging another device
    – USB-C power pass-through works great to charge your phone while using the gamesir
    – the GameSir app is functional and will let you play games that otherwise don’t support controllers
    – provided carrying case is a nice touch

    Cons:
    – No analog triggers
    – Face Buttons are too small (larger buttons would easily fit, and would be much more comfortable to use)
    – The app for mapping controls to screen touches is kind of janky. One really annoying aspect is that the option to “invert” the joystick flips BOTH the vertical and horizontal axes. There is no option to invert only the vertical axis like you would see in most games. I also don’t like how I have to force quit the app to make it go away completely.
    – I wish it opened up just a bit wider so it could be used with a small tablet. The max width of 167mm really limits what devices it can work with
    – it’s not very comfortable for use with games that primarily use the d-pad, such as retro emulator games.

One last thing: make sure the joysticks are centered when you plug in your phone. I almost returned the controller after I first tried it because I thought the joystick calibrations were way off.

Super simple and effective. No problems to connect, no delay and very comfortable.
Only issue is that when I try to charge while I’m playing my phone drives crazy and neither charge nor work, however it’s a rugged phone ( ulefone armor 7 )which it should not fit in the controller but it does , so fair enough. 5/5

It’s slightly overpriced but it has the best stick I’ve used
The d pad is average but the stick is surprisingly really good for fighting games so the d pad isn’t a issue I just used to shortcut items for RPG games

It also works with Xbox live and a tablet with a cable very versatile and I’m happy with my purchase

Because it’s a direct connection to the phone it’s so much better to play with in terms of latency than any Bluetooth controller not even kidding. Playing the sonic games and call of duty on my phone is great with this 🙂

USB C version. 1st one ordered was faulty, the right analogue stick had a large dead zone at 12 o’clock. Second one however works great. Fits the Fold 3 brilliantly and you can take advantage of the large screen. Only thing that would make it better is analogue triggers. Works with latest version of android fine.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI had no idea how much I’d enjoy this over using a modern Nintendo Switch!

If you enjoy older portable gaming consoles like the Nintendo 3DS or Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), they have amazing game catalogs…but their ancient screen technology makes it difficult to impossible to play them outside. Enter the GameSir X2.

    PLAYING OUTDOORS IS A REALITY!
I’ve included photos of the X2 Type-C with an LG G8X ThinQ (2018) partially in direct sunlight, just so you could see how well games can be enjoyed when using the X2 Type-C with a recent model phone. Since I moved on to another phone, I’m contemplating keeping the LG in this case indefinitely, though I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing for the spring in the long run.

    ERGONOMICS AND CONTROLS
I purchased the X2 Type-C with protective case and thumbstick covers. The thumbstick covers are necessary to just get the tiny thumbsticks to equal the diameter of the thumbsticks on a Nintendo Switch–about the size of a U.S. dime. I don’t have large hands, but without those thumbstick covers, I’m sure my thumbs or tendons would be sore after gaming.

As others have observed, the face buttons, D-pad, and triggers are all digital, and at least for all the games I’ve played, that hasn’t been an issue. Each has a clean click and stop when pressed, and aren’t mushy at all. I can see myself playing this in a long line without any physical consequences to my thumbs or tendons.

    MATERIALS
The materials the X2 is comprised of feel not quite premium, but not cheap, either. The X2 is light, which is great for gaming for longer periods, but is also light because you can feel its hollow cavities just inside each controller. Slightly thicker plastic, or more structural supports inside, could help with a more upscale feel, but I’m sure would also add to the cost.

COMPARISON TO THE NINTENDO SWITCH AND SWITCH LITE
I included photos of the X2 alongside the full size Switch and Switch Lite. This X2 can definitely be mistaken for a Switch OLED at a glance, though it’s really closer to the size of the Switch Lite. The colors, however, are spot on compared to the Switch OLED, and it’s so much easier to grip it when on the go than a Switch (which I am honestly a bit nervous to carry without a case). This is one reason why I’ve actually spent more playtime on the X2 than the Switch OLED it shamelessly copies!

THAT PIVOTING USB-C CONNECTOR AND PASSTHROUGH
This X2 Type-C has a USB-C plug that pivots about 50 degrees, so it’s easy to plug and unplug a phone from its port. There’s a USB-C passthrough on the bottom of the left controller–much better than on top, like some consoles do it–and it works beautifully for charging your phone as you’re gaming on it. What it won’t do, however, is let you hear anything through headphones/earphones that you can connect with a 3.5mm-to-USB-C adapter. I’ll just use Bluetooth devices instead.

    INCONVENIENCES
The slight inconveniences I’ve found with the Type-C design is that I will never be able to put a phone or tablet in the X2 in portrait mode, which would be great for Nintendo DS/3DS emulation. That, however, just means I need to get the X2 Bluetooth model, right? (It won’t take much to convince me, based on how much I like the Type-C model!)

Some emulators prefer the phone to be oriented 180 degrees from the way it’s plugged into the X2 Type-C, but the ones I’ve used (Dolphin, for example) allow for rotating the display to match the X2 Type-C’s orientation.

There is some creakiness and a slightly cheap feeling when using the X2, mostly because of the thin plastic body and creaking of the left analog stick (at least in the one I purchased).

The GameSir app lacks polish and seems to be put together by developers without much usability testing or quality assurance at their disposal, and it shows. You can get controls set up for various games, but it’s like pulling teeth. Oh, and if you want to save your custom controller layouts, be ready to sign up for an account at GameSir’s website first.

I WISH THE NEXT MODEL WOULD HAVE…
One wish I’d have for a future model is a wrist lanyard loop in the lower left and right corners, just to prevent possible drops and maybe a passerby with sticky fingers.

    CONCLUSION: A VERY SMART BUY
If you’d like to play retro or modern mobile games on the go, I highly recommend the GameSir X2 Type-C. It only comes in white, so be prepared to tell people over and over that it is NOT a Switch OLED!

Like a retro handheld you can actually play in sunlight!

This is a good quality controller, connects flawlessly to my Pixel Pro 6 over Bluetooth. I do like how clicky the buttons are. It perhaps feels a bit lightweight before slotting the phone in but honestly the build quality is really good.

I’ve reduced one star because I can only see the app being good for firmware updates, couldn’t quite figure out how to use the features to get it to work with games that don’t support Bluetooth controllers natively. I don’t think I would use that feature very much but it feels like it’s missing instructions or something. It’s a small issue though and I would recommend this controller if you want a physical controller instead of on-screen buttons for gaming, especially with emulators.

I bought this with the intention of using it with retroarch, praying that it didn’t suck. Well my prayers were answered. This is hands down one of the best purchases I’ve made in ages. Worth every penny. Is it perfect? No. There are a few things I would like to see in the next version: move the right stick slightly to the left so the buttons are easier to reach without interference, make the buttons slightly bigger all round, add a manual open locking mechanism to take the phone in and out easier, add a swapable pad for the right side so phones like mine (s20 note ultra) with poorly thought out camera design can be padded easier (I used stickable felt to offset the camera) are a few such examples. However, none of this stops me from loving this thing, it is brilliant, great work gamesir team! I look forward to the next version!

This product is absolutely amazing, easy to use and set up, pair this with the likes of Xbox games pass and you got yourself a portable Xbox, fantastic piece of kit, only issue is the turbo button… Took ages to work it out but pressing the G button and another button activates that buttons turbo mode, to turn this off, double press the G button, it would be nice if the team behind this product could include this into the instruction manual, other than that, amazing produc

I’ve been looking for a decent controller to play Games on my iPhone. So was very interested in this particular controller, after a 10 year hiatus I was looking forward to downloading call of duty for mobile and after reading mostly positive reviews decided to take the plunge. The ergonomics are pretty good and everything is very Familiar, general button layout, analog joysticks and trigger buttons obviously conform to the accepted standards and they’ve done a pretty good job of keeping that. Build quality and overall construction is very good and surfaces in the places where needed are rubberised and does feel pretty durable and can imagine travelling with it. Battery life was fully charged seem pretty good I managed to squeeze out many hours of gaming without the need for recharging. Initial set up is relatively straightforward. Although the manual that comes with it it’s pretty useless because the font size for all the instructions is about 3pt which if anybody knows, is absolutely tiny and even someone decent eyesight will struggle to read it, I had to photograph it on my phone and enlarge it which is a bit of pain when you’re trying to set up the device on your phone whilst having to read these minuscule instructions, there is probably something online but I can be bothered to look at that. There are two modes of connecting the controller with your phone via Bluetooth and both of these mode show up on your Bluetooth connection control panel it’s quite unclear which one you need for which particular game so it’s more by trial and error. Call of duty mobile uses the Xbox controller Bluetooth and once connected does all the things you expected to do within the game and hats off to all of duty mobile they have developed an absolutely outstanding game which is a free download in the first instance, of course there’s lots of in game purchases but you can really enjoy the main game without having to pay anything so bearing in mind that the game is free and the controller was around 50 or so pounds it’s amazing value for money and I would recommend the purchase. However there is a massive flaw, I’m not sure whether it’s my phone or whether it’s the fact the Bluetooth is pretty ancient technology now and has never really been a particularly stable way of connecting, and I would say on average I have a 50% success rate of maintaining a strong connection between controller and the phone as frequently you lose all Bluetooth connectivity even though it says it’s connected, so you have to quit and reconnect the controller etc it’s a bit of a pain but like I mentioned before as all this is for around 50 it’s fine it’s something you know it’s just a fact of life I don’t expect perfection if there was one available I would probably would’ve preferred direct connection for lightning ports I know there is a USB C version for android but that’s not available to me. I have tried to connect rally rush three and I haven’t really had much luck of getting it all set up correctly it to any satisfaction, but once I’m bored of cold duty I’ll switch. I’m sure it will take a bit of effort to try and get the rally rush three working so overall I would recommend this but with the caveat if you’re using the Bluetooth version don’t expect hours and hours of interrupted gaming.

Phone slots in easily and does not move. I’m using a Google Pixel 6 Pro which is a large phone and the controller accommodates it perfectly. I’m using it with Google Stadia and it works flawlessly, it only misses out on five stars due to the button layout being a Nintendo Switch setup meaning I have to remap controls on games when using it, or reprogram my muscle memory. Other than that no complaints, a really nice device.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this controller for my Google Pixel 6 Pro as it was the only controller where my phone could fit in even with the phone case (dbrand). I first bought the Bluetooth version but didn’t like the impossibility to change the button layout (A button is B, B button is A, Home button is actually the Power button, …) and that I couldn’t charge the phone while playing. So I returned the Bluetooth version and bought the USB-C version instead.

I’m very happy with the USB-C version as all the above mentioned limitations are gone – the button layout is as on the Nintendo Switch and I can charge the phone while playing. When I connected the phone without the case, the USB-C connector was too long that the only fixation point on the left hand side was the connector. The rest of the phone didn’t even touch the side of the controller, which made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately the USB-C connector wasn’t long enough to connect my phone while using the phone case (dbrand) so I ended up removing the rubber padding which fixed the issue.

The controller was set up in a minute and all the controls work perfectly. I am using this just for the Fortnite game and makes life a lot easier to play. When using a large phone like mine it does feel big and heavy after a while of gaming but that is not a negative for the controller. I now just prop the phone up and use it as a screen and hold the very light controller separately. I can also mirror my phone screen on to the TV using Google Chrome Cast and use this product just as a controller so it’s just like using a console 🙂 in short I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Its more expensive than others but you pay for what you get.

I’m struggling to work out the other negative reviews as my experience is totally opposite. Purchased this for Christmas to play XBOX Game Pass and Stadia streaming titles. Simple Bluetooth setup with my Galaxy S10+ and away I go. The only thing I had to do is turn off NFC on my phone as this caused interference. I have also tested with a handful of Android games which support a controller and no issues either. All in all I’m pleased with the controller and met my expectations.

A YouTube video recommended this as working great on a Galaxy Z Fold 3 with Xbox Gamepass.

    Pairing is simple and quick.
The controller itself feels decent and well made.
I appreciate the addition of a case.

It makes a fab combo with the z fold 3. HOWEVER.

    1) Gamesir app is awful
    2) Android needed a lot (A LOT) of tweaking and go ogling how to fix it to make this work. I guess it’s not the controller’s fault Android has high inconsistency and very poor user experience and feing of “hey this just works”.

I wish they keys were backlit.

Works well with steam link. Not perfect shape and a bit too flexible when fully extended. Sometomes have to push the right side of the phone back in while playing. Doesn’t play nice with thick cases so had to adjust it a bit for my fold 2 with spiegen case. Would be nice if the usb connector could move up/down from the back of the controller and left or right to accommodate different phone and case thickness rather than just pivot. Buttons are somewhat loud and clicky but feel good and very responsive.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have compared this gamepad to the Razer Kishi, and it’s 1000x better in almost every respect. The mapping software is absolutely awesome and works with PUBG and COD without issues; you can also saving time by downloading game specific profiles from the cloud!

However, I am unfortunately returning the controller for one reason: the analog sticks. I mainly games where you need to be able to aim without an auto lock-on feature. The analogs track extremely well in the directions, but not diagonal until you pass over a “hump”. By this I mean, in the default position, to make a fine-grain movement the stick doesn’t track well from the center position and will track in a direction just before it tracks diagonally. This is near impossible to use in games like COD and PUBG and an absolute shame ws the gamepad is otherwise, almost perfect.

Setup is a breeze, you just plug it in and it’s works straight away. I’ve been using it to play 8,16 and 32 bit emulators via RetroArch. Very little configuration is needed.

Controller and buttons feel solid and not cheap. Also tested on Xbox Cloud gaming and it worked fine. Note that the buttons are the Nintendo Switch layout (A is where B is, and X where Y is on an Xbox controller).

    Highly recommended!

I mainly bought this controller because it comes with an app that allows button mapping, so now I can play pretty much any game with it.

A really well built and easy to use device for the price!
Works really well with little to no setup with Minecraft, Terraria, Dead Cells, Stardew Valley and Forager.
So far waiting on support for Genshin Impact
Button mapping apps have caused me complications or haven’t worked, but isn’t too of much of an issue as most popular games work right out of the box or through the game settings themselves as if you’re using any other bluetooth or wirless controller.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI love it! I’m using it with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 (works with a slim phone case on too). Setup is easy, you just literally slot in! (and wait for the light to turn solid blue). The buttons feel good, with decent travel, and the joysticks are smooth but responsive. I’ve used it with XCloud for a few games now, it’s just so comfortable to hold and play. It doesn’t feel cheap at all, and seems to be sturdy without being too heavy. The ABXY buttons are set out in a Switch style though, but it doesn’t bother me as I’m used to switching between the Xbox controls and Switch controls anyway! The fact that the USB C port isn’t fixed (can move up at an angle) feels like it helps with preventing damage on the port of the phone too, and the placement of the USB C charge port prevents the cable getting in the way of using it, so over all I highly recommend this 🙂

    Excellent!!
