I am of a certain age and am not as strong as I used to be. That being so, I find it hard to use full-sized items any more. Too heavy, and makes my arm ache. These mini electric shears do the job for me. I can go out into our garden and get on with things. My husband uses the normal tools to cut things down that are too thick for my little shears. We have a big garden and we are finding it more and more difficult to do anything. As far as I am concerned, these little shears (it also comes with the little snipper attachment) are great for me. Every little helps.
Although this tool cannot cut thick material. It’s great on border hedges. The edging tool does cut a nice little edge round borders. Both tools are simple to change and the battery lasts for quite a while.
I originally bought this around 2-years ago (with telescopic pole option), and it has done a decent job to trim grass edges and bushes with thin branches. But this season it wouldn’t work. The lights showed it was fully charged, but no other activity. As I found the telescopic pole attachment very useful – and there is little choice of other pole products – I decided to buy the same again. Pretty cheap, even if it did only last 2 years. But I decided to buy just the cutter, and use my existing pole. Bad choice. The cutter alone (#103089) is different from the cutter/pole option (#103091), in that the cutter is missing the electrical connector for the pole. (As I have some basic electric knowledge, and with the help of a soldering iron, I was able to move the connector from the old unit to the new, which now works fine with or without the handle.) If I had realised before using it and scrapping the packaging, I would have returned it and swapped for the pole option.
Bought this to trim around the edge of my grass. It does the job great. No cables to avoid and easily charged up. Better than our strimmer which just keeps breaking. Would recommend to everyone.
Love these, I am a topairy addict and they are superb for tidying it up.
Just want I needed for cutting back my lavender which I have to,do,from my motorbiity scooter, so it was light enough for me to hold and reach and powerful enough to cut it well
The charge lasts well and it does quickly
Nice little hedge cutters ideal for topiary, especially if you have arthritis in the hands like I have. I did a total of six topiary bushes in one charge. Great purchase.
J. Brooks.
It is very safe, put my left hand finger’s by mistake, on the blades. It hurt enormously but it didn’t cut me at all neither broke my finger.
Very easy to use battery lasts a long time, excellent for trimming bushes
Took ages to choose a suitable lightweight hedge trimmer for myself… So pleased with these.. So easy to use and change cutters.. Fantastic cut on my beech hedge and even used on the lawn edges!… Can recommend if you want a small effective garden tool.
I liked these become thay are very good
For keeping my topyre nea
What a little gem. From tidying my box topiary to trimming lawn edges under shrubs. Surprised how sharp and the thickness the hedge trimmer can cope with. Would recommend.
Fantastic little shrub trimmer. Easy to handle and quicker than snipping!
All good cheaper than Bosch version hope it lasts as long time will tell.
I was looking to tidy hedges and trim grass verges. Very good for the latter but they struggle with hedges and don’t like anything of any thickness. But they do their bes
I used this in product for cutting it down to a small be willow tree and another be similar but higher in treee – no problems very easy to use
Does exactly what I bought it for and more. We only have a few shrubs to trim, and the grass trimmer works a treat. Great value for money!
Great for trimming young growth on hedges. Hold its charge well – 45mins to 1 hour.
Both attachments are excellent.
I’m disabled and can’t handle the bigger ones . These are ideal I can go round all my garden now , battery lasts ages and doesn’t take long to charge
I liked the way that the handle is designed , makes it easy to manouver , ok I haven’t used the hedge trimmer part yet only the grass shear , but this works perfectly and battery life is good enough for my needs.
Only downside is the colour of the item , white , not the easiest to keep clea
This product is well made and very light weight. It makes the job easier to trim hedges and bushes that I have in the garden. It’s easy to clean. The downside is there is no guard protecting your hands from the blades. I would still give it a 5 star.
Easy to use and very easy to cut small hedges, not great for anything substantial
Bought a year ago and was great but now won’t hold the charge !!
Doesn’t cope well with the branches on some thicker bushes.
Not capable of hacking through the amazon, but for the price they’re actually alright. The safety features have been addressed and now come with a plastic guard. I’ve used both attachment heads and they do the job
Does exactly as expected. So easy to use. I have painful wrists and joints in my hand generally so find it impossible to use shears in the garden. Using this is a doddle. It has enabled me to neaten round plants embedded in a grassy bank, trim shrubs, trim lawn edges etc and I’m sure I will soon find more uses. I love it!
Great little trimmer for small wisteria & grass edge cutting.
Bit tricky to swap blades but does get easier after a few changes
These are exactly what I needed they are perfect for small plants etc.
Trim and cut great.. easy to use and pretty good value for money
Use this at our caravan to trim round edges – excellent and holds the charge well
Great little hedge trimmer. So easy to use. Only slight negative hard to get blade in and out. needed help.
Trimmed small hedge easily.
Charged fully before use. Easier to handle than my large Strimmer. However, did make my wrists ache. Easier using two hands. Would be better if had a rubber handle as hands kept slipping as sweaty. Cut out on two occasions whilst using but turned off and left for 5 mins and restarted (assume it was a safety feature as got close to some thicker branches???) Took me just over an hour to do the 2 firs in the pictures. Overall happy with purchase
Lightweight and easy to use. Trimmed my pyracantha shoots in no time. Easy to change blades; choice of mini grass cutter and hedge trimmer. Very clear manual instructions. Very happy with this product.
Great product, came ready charged and was able to trim my box hedges snd clipped box topiary balls well within that initial charge. Wish I’d discovered this sooner as have saved hours of time and got a much more even finish than with clippers alone, recommended
I’m an 80 year old female, and this little gadget is fantastic. I can easily use this for trimming my numerous shrubs. I Highly recommend.
I know i know i should have read the text but i saw the photo and immediately thought there were two in the pack.. rooky error… there is one device with two attachment blades. Does a good job.
Handy lil gadget, I bought this one as I’m a scardy cat and didn’t want a big petrol hedge trimmer, I haven’t used the grass bit, but if its anything like the other bit I forsee no issues, found it easy to swap the blades over as it comes with the grass blade attached.
Best for smaller bushes. Doesnt give an even cut on bigger bushes.
If is so light, easy to manage and quick. What used to take me a few hours with clippers now takes me about 15 mins
Amazing hedge trimmer! Holds a charge and I have a pretty high and long hedge. Small enough to store easily!! Defo recommend
Lightweight for lawn edge and small shrubs. Better for me than our old heavier hedge trimmer which hurts my shoulder and back. I’m more motivated to trim back shrubs more frequently as the task doesn’t seem so daunting with these. Long lasting charge. Bought another one for my daughter.
If the plastic guards were a bit stronger I would have given 5 stars
There should be someone of attaching the key to handle when not in use.
Wanted something to trim my little topari ball trees . The small trimmer works perfectly. Really quick. Ideal for the job. The second attachment hedge trimmers is good too for small jobs. The run time is limited but it’s fit for purpose.
Really pleased with i
I am unable to trim our hedges due to health reasons and the trimmers we have are to heavy for my wife to use. This little beauty is light weight and easy to use and amazingly effective. The charged battery lasted long enough for a large hedge and still kept going.
Only got a few small bushes and trees did the job perfectly. Easy to use, good charge enough to complete the job in one go.
Bought as a gift, but they absolutely love it its not heavy it is quite light, really easy to use, changing blades could be a bit difficult for some people.
This is a good product in my opinion, and worth the money. I did find the hedgetrimming application more useful than the grass trimming one.
It’s certainly good tool for everyday garden work. I never had trimmer so I cannot compare but this works for me. As for the grass cutter it’s definitely better than scissors
It ran for at least an hour, and performed brilliantly on some grass with older material under the grass.
Safety is good, there is a left/right toggle button, which has to be presssed before you can start it. A bit fiddly at first, but soon routine. I recommend it to anyone that would like a light, cordless cutter. The grip is easy to hold, and blades easy to change over.
Perfect for trimming back hedges, blades work well and easy to use.
Can get stuck on larger branches but then so can the big hedge trimmers.
Really pleased
Found swapping the blades a bit fiddly so I have stuck with using the longer ones.
Charges fast and lasts too.
For the price this is a great tool. Easy to use no fuss at all. Worked really well for what I need.
Lightweight shears and grass trimmer. Easy to use, easy to change functions, incredibly lightweight. One of my favourite buys in years. (If you are a gardener)
Super lightweight and easy to use. It works a treat and so much easier than manual shears. Best thing I’ve bought in a long time!!
Now I need something that picks up the trimmings and puts them in the bin!
I wanted something to trim the edges of the lawn where the plants overhang, using a strimmer damaged the plants, this is the solution.
It has a safety switch that needs to be engaged before the trigger can be used, the blades are open with no guards but are no more dangerous than a hedge trimmer.
It quickly and cleanly trims the edges of the grass, think of it as that little electric razor they use at the barbers to do the last little bits of your haircut to finish everything off, this is the lawn equivalent.
I also have a couple of small patches that fir whatever reason grow faster than the rest a quick trim between cuts keeps the lawn looking good.
I have mobility problems and this is perfect for me. Lovely and light. It helps me be independent and did a lovely job of my hedges.
Easy to use and so handy for cutting small area of garden. Would definitely recommend this product. Thanks
Very easy to use , quality is good, like all powered tool cautious use required. I sure this is going to be very useful for some time.
I use this to trim my large collection of large potted plants and shrubs! Works perfectly! Trimmed lots of stuff bushes and plants that needed it since and it would otherwise take me forever! Couldn’t recommend it more!
I was put off from some reviews on safety but this being on offer and able to upgrade if needed, I went ahead as it has a safety gadget you can remove when changing blades. I found that the only safety thing you need to worry about is that the on/off trigger does not stop the trimmer from cutting/moving if you just lightly release the trigger. I prefer this rather than having to hold the trigger hard and down all the time. The speed and cutting was good & the battery lasted through 3 medium (6ft) conifers and a fairly large box without giving out; it still had plenty of juice left. Did not get jammed at all but it does not cut deep enough so great for new growth! Lightweight and easy to use. Changing blades was interesting as the button pushes the blade forward but you then need to lift the blade out rather than slide it out all the way. Would recommend it to others.
I have used it for cutting hedges and bushes. As being a ladt I find a normal hedge cutter too heavy but this is fine.
Bought this for my mum, she was looking for a light hedge trimmer and this is exactly what she wanted.
It glides through the hedge effortlessly as it trims it, very satisfying to use. I did notice that it got stuck on particularily thick stems of the hedge, so if you’re intending to use this on thick-twigged hedges (the manual says around 7+mm diameter) then consider looking elsewhere but this is a great tool for light trimming work to keep your garden in check.
It was easy to use and the blades are sharp straight from the box. You need to be careful not to force it on thicker twigs otherwise it starts to go blunt. Just use it for grass and weeds and you’ll be ok.
This is a great multi tool for outdoors. I have problems with my elbows, this takes a lot of pressure off them trimming the hedge and grass edging.
Good value for money, nice and compact, good running time on charged battery.
Recommend for money and light tasks.
Brilliant product dread trimming our hedges but so enjoyed it today – very therapeutic- never thought I’d ever say that!! My hubby loves garden grass edging he’s itching to try it out tmrw!! Amazing product highly recommended
Liked the lithium battery or wireless option. Charges quickly. Used for 25 minutes. Slight dislike is that the blades are a little noisy but the blade action is effective so time spent is minimal.
I’m super glad to have ordered this – amazing for the price, so easy to use and store away. We have a small hedge and several bushes outside our house and it did it all without needing recharging. Really easy to get into small spaces between the bush and our walls, and so much easier than the garden secateurs I was using to trim them by hand. Definitely recommend and a great price.
Struggled with some of my thicker cotoneaster branches but trimmed as expected with all other new growth. These aren’t gonna do a main job of hedges or bushes but perfect for maintenance.
Need for a dwarf hedge at the front of my property, and I needed a lightweight item as I have arthritis. This fits the bill and looks good too. It is cordless so no chance of cutting through a cable.
This one is only for small and soft branches, good to trim the plants.
Easy to use. Don’t know yet how good they are as too early in the year to really get going with the gardening
Really impressed with this chargeable garden trimmer. Sure, it can’t match the power of an electric or petrol powered one, but for most tasks this is just perfect! It does baulk at thicker branches, but as it’s battery powered, this is to be expected really. I used it for around 30 minutes and didn’t need to recharge it yet. A full charge takes around 5 hours according to the instructions and suposedly gives you around 50 minutes’ usage.
Very impressed!
This product is okay but when you’re use to using an electric hedge cutter I found this product a little weak when it came to cutting new growth particularly if you let the growth get too long and therefore thicker. I’ve found that it will jam up on things that are too thick. It’s okay if you keep on top of the new growth and trim regularly. My main use has been on hawthawn/quickthorn and pyracantha hedging.
My wife usually uses a pair of scissors which takes a while and is labour intensive. I will be trimming my balls from now on with the Von Haus shears.
I bought these as I struggle to hold hedge trimmers etc due to being disabled. Both the strummers and cutters work really well as they are light wight and fairly small. . I’ve used the cutters to do edges, cut through bamboo and ornamental grasses and Bracken plus on really thick grass. They cut these easily. The hedge trimmer is great for a small curved hedge we have, but would take sometime to do a big hedge. Both are strong and sturdy and charge well too.
Good tool for smaller jobs without having to get the bigger plug in tools out, handy but not heavy duty, I would recommend, also like the safety “pull pin” that can be removed in case of young prying hands.
This is a great piece of gardening equipment. The lawn trimmer is excellent! Saves so much time. I agree with other reviews that the hedge trimmer is only suitable for softer branches. It works well, but not on hardy branches. It’s easy to clean and the battery lasts for a good while, although I suppose it depends on how long you use it.
Trimmed a couple of Box bushes then turned to a recently planted Hornbeam hedge. After a quite a lot of work it suddenly stopped, OK I thought needs charging but then I saw that the small safety lock had vanished. It must have caught on a small branch and been pulled out.
Eventually found it amongst the clippings, where it could easily have been lost, so the tip is put a small strip of gaffer tape over it, however remember to remove it before changing the blade.
This was easy to charge and the battery life seems to be pretty good for a lightweight product. Makes light trimming very easy. The safety is a little tricky to use at first. Changing blades also requires some wriggling but we tend to stay with only one blade so no real issue for us. Charging from empty to full is also quick with lights indicating when ready for use.
The only problem is its fun to use so can be addictive
Firstly I am pleased with this product although we found it impossible to change the blades when we first bought it. It is almost identical to one I had from Aldi so I knew it would work well. I use it for low buxus hedging and laurels etc. My husband just out of the hospital from a knee op was the third person to try to remove the blade so I could swap it for the longer one. The short one came already attached. Safety switch on, I shouted ‘just don’t pull the trigger’ although it shouldn’t work because you also have to hold in one of the side buttons. In his haste, he did pull the trigger, didn’t touch either of the side buttons, and long story short, cut very neatly and quite deeply his thumb and forefinger. Lots of blood from him and screams from me. But he’s ok and some big plasters did the job. I haven’t returned it because it’s his own stupid fault but beware! if your short blade sticks like ours, the plastic cover for it also didn’t fit or do up hence it wasn’t on. Only when he threw the trimmer across the lounge floor did the blade come unstuck, so now I can change it!! I used it yesterday for a decent size hedge that takes me almost an hour to trim and it worked perfectly. The battery life on these small handhelds is brilliant. Nice neat job, I kept my own fingers well out of the way. Not a product for impatient or stupid men!
The safety feature is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard just a slight extra pressure with the trigger finger and it overrides the stop feature not really a deterrent to children. The machine itself does as it’s supposed to trimmed my two conifers back beautifully and cut the long grass edges around my caravan awning nicely for which it was intended purpose I didn’t want a bulky strimmer and cables stretching around the van and this packs away nice and neatly taking up little space in a small caravan ideal for the job it’s made for. won’t be retuning it for the safety feature fault as children will not have access to it or I might have returned it.
I am very pleased with the grass edge trimmer, however if you take your hand off operating button you have to slide the red switch over for it to operate again, which is a bit of a pain, otherwise all good
Have a small hedge in my front garden which only needs trimming occasionally. Didn’t want a huge trimmer so this one was ideal. Don’t know how it would fare against a huge privet hedge but it was fine for mine.
Was a bit sceptical of how well this would work but have to say it does the job! I have an allotment and wanted to use it for around the sides of my raised beds, where my lawn mower couldn’t reach. Was worried that the power wouldn’t last long on it, but used it for well over an hour and didn’t run out! Changing the blades is a fairly easy job and it’s easy to handle. Really pleased with my purchase and just what I was looking for to keep my allotment looking it’s best!
I bought it for the “hedge cutting” facility – which is fine although it will only tackle light jobs. As expected, this is not suitable for thicker branches. I didn’t expect to use it much with the “grass trimming” attachment but I’ve found this very useful where it is awkward to use a conventional strimmer – for example near other plants. Ignore reviews claiming it is difficult to change between attachments – I don’t see how it could be much easier. And those that claim it is difficult to use with one hand – there is a safety button to be pressed when switching it on – I don’t have big hands and had no problem one handed. And most of us have two hands!
The trimmer itself is very good value for money providing that you keep in mind that it is for light use only. Even slightly thick branches/stems will cause it to lockup and cut out on internal overload.
I do think that it was stupid of the manufactures to put the safety key into the body – given that the battery came nearly 100% charged. It was a bit of a shock when looking over the device I accidentally triggered it into action!
A good job that my fingers were clear of the small cutting blad, which was already attached. Remove of blades to alternate between small or longer is simplicity itself.
I’m pleased that I purchased this trimmer.
I’m no spring chicken any more, and I have a huge amount of hedge. The main hedge cutter is very heavy and cumbersome, I’ve been eyeing up this little cordless thing for awhile, imagining it can’t be any good, how wrong was I? Is really excellent, and fantastic for going over the hedge in between full cuts, thus ensuring less work with the main hedge cutter. After a bit, my hand did feel a bit stiff and cramped up, but that was just me being ridiculous and going like the clappers all over the hedge. Great battery life as well, I managed to do the whole hedge and it still hadn’t run out. And believe me, I have a LOT of hedge! I would recommend this item. and I’m not being paid to say it. I wish I was!
Lovely little gadget. Arrived in a day, and does everything I wanted it to do. And does it well. Many reviewers have referred to difficulties with changing blades, but I don’t understand why. I found it very easy. Effortless. If I had one minor criticism, it would be the manual. Only two of the 18 pages are actually useful “User Manual”. The remainder of the pages are just endless lists of safety warnings, repeated over and over. Honestly, I promise I won’t use it to trim my wife’s hair while wearing loose clothing underwater in an unventilated car with two children after removing the plug and replacing it with two nails and a bit of tinfoil. Promise!
This is a very useful tool. I have a health condition which makes using manual shears too tiring, but I don’t have the strength to hold a larger heavier hedge trimmer. This is good because it is much lighter than a standard hedge trimmer, and saves me a lot of energy trimming small bushes in my garden. The battery lasts longer than I do – I can use it several times before I need to recharge it. My husband used it to cut out huge privet hedge and it worked really well. It is not strong enough to cut very thick or tough twigs, only the thinner more tender growth so if you need to cut old tough growth you will need something bigger. But for regularly trimming bushes and hedges in our garden this is great. I am not sure how long it will last – we have been using it for about 6 months with no problems. But even if it breaks after a year, it was pretty cheap so still worth the money for all the energy it has saved us in the garden.
I had some before (different make) I cant say about these as yet, but the last ones the battery life (not from a charging point) was only a few years. I have arthritus hands, etc, they are really great for edging the lawn, cutting through fairly long grass, cutting smaller branches on hedges, ligh pruning, wouldnt be without them
For the price, I wasn’t expecting this to be as good as it is.
I’d bought them for quickly trimming grass where the lawnmower can’t reach, which they do easily.
I tried them on our garden hedges and they do a great job of light trimming – they wouldn’t be robust enough if the hedges needed a big cut, but used just to keep the hedges neat and pruned, they’re great. In fact I’d go as far to say that with regular trimming, there will be little need to use the hedge trimmers.
As these are very light in comparison and a one handed operation, it makes the job much quicker and easier.
Only slight issue I’ve noticed (and it is only minor) is that occasionally they can get something caught between the two rows of teeth – it’s easy enough to dislodge though.
I was amazed at how long the battery lasts as well (and how quick a recharge is). On one charge I pruned three decent sized hedges, trimmed grass that the mower can’t reach and cut back some bushes!
Well worth the money and a really useful tool for the garden.
My garden leads onto a stream & although beautiful WHEN you can see it past the reeds, pampas grass & nettles that grow so fast. 5ft easy. It’s an annual mammoth Spring task… I had waaayyyyy too much fun with this! The faster you swing it just demolishes it’s way through & I’m like ninja attacking every bush & Tree now. Charges fast. Very light. Love it.
I purchased this little hedge cutter to cut a high up difficult angle on Leylandi hedge. It worked well and cut thicker stems than I thought it would. Holding the ‘on’ switch and the button at the same time is a little tricky but ok. For trimming back shrubs and bushes it should be ideal. I haven’t used the small trimmer.
One tip – when changing the blades ensure that the lugs on the main unit are exactly in line at 12 and 6 o’clock.
Lightweight is very useful cos I wouldn’t be able to use otherwise. Helped me shape and cut my hedges in much quicker time than other methods. Also no pain. Am in my 60s and have aches and pains so need garden tools that are lightweight, quick an easy to use. This product does just that. Highly recommend. Oh and it is priced reasonably.
Marvellous little item. Having seen my daughter’s, I just had to have one. For the first time in decades I now have a neatly edged lawn. No more hard labour with garden shears. I just passed this over the edges and the appearance of the entire lawn was transformed in about 10 minutes. I also passed it lightly over several euonymous which I’ve trained to grow up my fences, in order to shave off excess mid-season growth. Highly recommend to those who love their garden, want to keep it looking cared for, yet don’t want to spend too long on hands and knees dealing with what the mower can’t do. This is the second one I’ve bought. This one is for a neighbour who saw mine and asked me to order one for her.
Really pleased with this. After cutting a huge hedge with a petrol hedge trimmer, this little tool is great for tidying up afterwards. It’s light to use and the battery lasted for more than 30 minutes of on / off work.
I recharged it and used the ‘grass cutter’ attachment to tidy up after strimming with a petrol strimmer. It was really impressive, cutting through some very large thistles, and huge matts of grass.
Don’t expect to use it to do a complete job of cutting a hedge or lawn, that would be ridiculous for such a tool, but for tidying up afterwards, IT’S FAB!!!
Use the smaller blade for trimming small trees and garden bushes. Works very well, easy to trim the trees etc down to size. You need to remember it is not for tough branches etc as it is a small hand held tool, but it is very useful and I’m glad I bought it. Battery life is okay, lasted for what I wanted to do, on that day and then charged it up for the next day. No problem at all.
Bought this item to trim 18 box trees in my garden because it was a mammoth task trimming with hand shears, and WOW what an excellent product – so easy to use and the best money I’ve spent and did the job in an hour and a half as opposed to over two days – BRILLIANT!!
Have used it twice so far and my only complaint is the safety is not easly engaged whilst holding trigger however this is probably good with young kids about, product is doing what i expected otherwise.
