You can control this module via Mach3 and Lasergrbl, it depends on the machine which you purchased. Lasergrbl for 3018-PROVer, Mach3 for 3018-MX3.

- This blue laser module is designed only for SainSmart Genmitsu CNC Router 3018-MX3/3018-PROVer.
- Please wear laser goggles during usage, avoid to touch the laser directly to the eyes and skin.
- In order to avoid unexpected accident happens, please stay with the machine while the laser module is working.

I orginially bought the 3018 ProVer CNC Router with 5.5w laser with the 30 x 40 extension. Although they weren’t the cheapest (there are lots of cheap CNC routers on the market shipped straight from China), the reason to choose SainSmart for me was there was an active user group (I forgive them that it’s only on facebook ;-( at the moment) and there were known for their support. And it was the right solution! Dia, George, Ryan, Marcia, Joey, Jen, Zoe and Sonoko have been very responsive and patience with me and my (sometimes obvious) questions. The cherry on the cake of their superb service was when my laser broke done (cable got stuck and a connector started to smoke, so certainly not a fabrication error) they shipped a new one over, so I was up and burning (aka lasering) in no time! There is a reason why they have such a following under The Makers!
I could put a photo up from the laser, but as there are plenty photos on the internet and it’s only the result which counts, the attached photos are some examples of work produced with the laser.
Easy addition to your CNC
The kit comes with everything you need to get it going on your CNC. I am using this on a 3018 CNC. Just a hint if you are running into issue with your projects freezing, look at your CNC power supply.
Lase
I have attached this to my 3018 cnc needed to change the wiring red and white was wrong for my machine. Just check your machine before fitting. Should work fine on any 3018.

Kommunikation ist bestens, den Kundenservice kann man sich echt als Vorbild nehmen. Kleines Problem wurde schnell unbrokratisch gelst.
No UK plug. Laser 100% 👍🏻
Item is 100% working and does the job, shame its sent with illegal main plugs. Fobbed off by supplier and had to source my own 3 pin uk adapter. UK law says it would come with a UK plug.
UPDATE ** After contacting the vendor has paid for the cable. Hopefully their team will be supplying the necessary plug in future. Updated the rating to suit.
Versatile for hobby use
Easy to use. Great fun for hobby use. Software allows for range of applications. I am enjoying creating little craft projects with it.
It works on the sainsmart 3018 Prove
This is a great little laser and once used to the software and the terminology it proves its self to very versatile. It is different from other large laser cutter / engravers I have used so took a bit of learning.

I will say, however, that I bought the 3018 ProVer to learn about CNC and programming so it was not a surprise to me to have to climb a bit of a learning curve to get the desired result. I do not believe this is turn-key for anyone that wants to plug it in and go. It takes some trial and error to fine tune.

I fitted one of these to a GRBL based CNC machine. The driver board has the PWM input, so any GRBL machine with a PWM output should operate this (with some fiddling with the GRBL settings). I've been running it off and on for some basic etching on wood for about a week. So far so good. We'll see if it holds up.

I mounted this to my CREALITY CR10S through the fan port. Had to extent one cable but worked great! Using it to great tags for custom orders out of our fab shop.

I only deduct one star due to my own inabilities. Lynn was great through any problems I had and I will be shopping Sainsmart products first from now on, high quality and affordable! ALWAYS WEAR THE SAFETY GLASSES or build a red plexiglass enclosure with some air circulation.
