Bought to find out which off my dogs was leaving little presents in the kitchen every morning which it worked a treat. Had a few problems with setting up and it still doesn’t allow playback or record continuously but does take a picture each time motion is detected. Very good camera for the price you pay but if looking for a proper security system I suggest trying a different, more professional camera.

Great little camera. Useful for keeping a check on the dog when we are out. Also the house! Highly recommend.

Picture quality is really good. The motion detection is ok, but a little sensitive and doesn’t always get it right. I get a lot of photos telling me there’s a human detected but it’s my lamp!

The camera worked straight out of the box. Set up took less than five minutes and adding two smart phones was easy.
The pictures quality is far better than other systems we use for exterior security. The tilt and pan function with motion control meets our need, to monitor my 94 year old mother mainly at night used in conjunction with a audible motion monitor. Would recommend to anyone looking to keep an eye on internal monitoring use.

All works great, especially at the price but it would be better if you could set a timer to disable the movement sensor during the day.

For the price, the SwitchBot Home Security Camera has features from much more expensive cameras. You will need to watch a few YouTube reviews, to see the day/night image quality and phone app features. For my needs, the Switchbot has two features that were top of my wish list. The first is that the camera has a hidden memory card slot. The second is that the Switchbot has the best privacy shutter I have been able to find. I wanted the indoor cameras to be completely off while I was home, and only turn on when the house was unoccupied. The lenses on the Switchbots rotate inside the body of the camera, when in privacy mode, and are replaced with a white line, meaning that there is absolutely no doubt that the camera is off. You can wake up the camera from the phone app, or you can purchase the switchbot smart door sensor and programme it to set and de-set the cameras as you enter or leave the house. I believe you can also add the cameras to the standard Alexa ‘Away’ automation, although I personally have not tried that. One feature I very much like though, is that you can programme the cameras to announce a notification on as many Alexa devices in your home as you want. If the camera at the back door detects movement at night, it can set off a spoken notification on a smart speaker near the back door, or imitate a dog bark. The Switchbot is quite a compact little device. It (in my opinion) looks very smart, and can either be used upright, or mounted to the ceiling using the adapter included. The only thing I wish it (and all other security cameras) had as standard, is a screw thread mount on the base, to allow it to be mountable on a mini tripod. Other than that, it is a superb little indoor camera, with a surprisingly powerful night vision capability.

SwitchBot have made a great little camera at an affordable price. I have a lot of smart home products, but this is the first from SwitchBot and my first camera addition to my smart home and I am very impressed.

It has motion tracking, motion detection with settings for sensivity and human detection. It records in SD or HD which can be saved locally to a micro SD card or the cloud with a subscription. Night vision, privacy mode, alerts, two way talk, integrates with Alexa (and other echosystems).. And more settings that I’ve not even used yet.

Motion tracking: I found this works well once you set the sensitivity correctly, the camera will then follow you around the room. I did end up turning this feature off though because occasionally the camera would follow someone to the edge of the room, but then not follow them back so the camera would be viewing a small portion of the room. This may be due to where I positioned the camera though. I now have it set to a fixed position, but it has a wide enough lens and covers the entire room.

Motion detection: does what it says and detects motion, alerts can be sent to your phone or via email. I don’t normally have alerts on as I have this camera in a high traffic area, but can be turned on when we leave the house.

I have this set up with a 16GB micro SD card and I probably get about two weeks of HD recordings, it would be a lot more if in a quieter area. Once full though, and if there are no recordings you want to keep, you can format the card from the app and you’re good to go. If you want to keep recordings, you will need to remove the SD card first. I can’t comment on cloud storage as I haven’t used that.

Night vision: works really well, I have it set to turn night vision on automatically when it gets dark. The image quality is also very good. We had a pond in our back garden that we filled in to make a flowerbed, but each morning something had been digging out loads of dirt, I set the camera up to point out the patio doors to see what was going on… Turns out it was foxes!

Privacy mode: this is a great feature, turning this on simply rotates the camera fully up (or down depending on how you have it mounted) so the camera is tucked away. You can do this easily from the app or via Alexa by saying “turn on privacy mode”. This will also cut down on unnecessary recordings filling up the SD card.

I have mine mounted on the ceiling in the corner of the room (fixings supplied) so I just had to flip the image in the app so the video records the right way up.

Would I recommend this camera? Absolutely! As my title says, you really can’t go wrong at this price. I haven’t even paired it with their hub, but I’ve read that if you do, you can also combine it with their other products like motion sensors, so if motion is detected in one area of the room, the camera can point to that preset position.

I got this to check on my dog while i’m at work and it’s very useful and easy to set up. You connect this to the app, it can rotate and tilt and has a good radius of vision so I can look for my dog and check hes not up to mischief. The night vision isn’t bad either and shows up my dogs reflective harness so he;s easy to spot.

Very useful and a good value camera with quality image. Recommended.

We struggled to set the camera up initially because we didn’t have it close enough to the wifi router. That said, we did use the customer service support and had a response same day which was really nice (even though it was a little longer than was useful because we’d figured it out by then).

The camera itself comes really well packaged. It can be used right-side up or upside and comes with a template to mark out mounting it. Because of our initial struggle to get it to connect, I haven’t worked out the best position for it where I can fully test the extent of motion detection (though so far this seems really good) or night vision capabilities. We were impressed with the motion detected picture quality, no matter how unflattering. Once we do a reshuffle to open up our space better, this camera should be extremely helpful.

    The negatives first

Rotating motor is noisy. Night vision IR LEDs are obviously visible. Limited to 4 cameras in multiview gallery. Doesn’t write to your own server (as far as I can tell) and limited to the switchbot ecosystem which is actually very good, but still annoying. Horizontal panning is limiting when mounted to a ceiling and motion tracking does not work horizontally.

    The positives now

Really impressive value at approx 30. One of the most smooth set up processes of any IoT thing I’ve used. Range of motion is good, truly 360 coverage although not continuous, i.e. it does not allow 370 rotation in a single direction. The night vision is really surprisingly good, benefit of so many IR LEDs. Connection is great even with poor signal. Image quality is superb at this price point, frankly I don’t believe more resolution would be necessary for almost all use cases. The camera comes with a really logical twist mounting system, two screws and wall plugs. The smart bot ecosystem is straight forward and easily shared with other phones via the app. Amazon echo integration with the mini hub is seamless, as as motion alerts, I dont have an echo show but all my normal echos announce motion detection instantly. Motion tracking is superb, even tracks to the TV, but only horizontal which is puzzling to me but not a major issue. build quality seems fine, I’ve dropped it a few times with no issue. Memory card integration is great, no need or limitation without cloud storage which is a MAJOR bonus against competition. Privacy mode is obviously deployed with a physical removal of the lense (it rotates into itself) which is cool, twinned with a proprietary NFC chip you can tap your phone to activate it to turn off stupid motion notifications. You can multiview 4 cameras at any time which is great.

All in all, would I recommend?

If writing to your own hard drives isn’t a must have then yes, I am absolutely satisfied with this camera.

I would finally add, every single switchbot product I’ve had has left me impressed. Really cannot fault them for value for money or thinking their products through.

    Really impressive but not perfec

This little camera is an absolute gem !
At only 30 I took a risk and I’m so pleased I did. As Neos Smartcams seem to be out of production now, I thought I’d take the gamble on this SwitchBot Pan/Tilt 1080p camera. I have to say that I was that happy I went out and ordered 2 more to dot around the house.

Pan/Tilt control, Motion detection, Night vision, Patrol Mode and full Alexa control (including live view to my bedside Echo Show).

I even shared the camera feeds to my Girlfriends phone and we use it as a walkie-talkie at bedtime.

The unique feature is Privacy mode, where the camera turns the lens away leaving a sleeping effect logo, so you know no one is watching whilst you undress, etc…..

Future plans are to link this to their door sensor and hub so that it will auto-enable privacy more when I enter the house and turn on the cameras in security mode as soon as the house is empty.

Did I mention this little sod was only 30 !! well dome Switchbot, a fantastic product and features.

Quality camera that doesn't need to cost the earth

We got this camera to keep an eye on the baby when he is having his daytime nap. It’s easy to set up and use. There’s two-way audio, so not only can we see the baby but we can hear him. And if he stirs, we can say “shush, shush” from the other room and he goes back to sleep without us having to enter the room and disturb him.

I think this would work well as a security camera as well, as it has a wide vision, and also an alarm, but I can only comment on what we have used it for.

This WiFi camera is simple but brilliant. So far it has performed well with a great quality picture, even in pitch black lighting conditions, with it’s night mode. Having full pan and tilt abilities, along with motion detection are great features too, that work very well.

The design is simple but elegant, it looks like a cute little robot, especially when privacy mode is activated, which can either be manually controlled via the SwitchBot app or set to automatically happen at preferred times of the day.

The camera connects via the SwitchBot app. I haven’t previously used this app, but it is very straightforward to register and use it. Set up was very easy and quick. Accessing the camera is just as simple via the app, loading reasonably quickly.

Overall a great camera, it’s doing it’s job very well.

There’s an awful lot for the price. Great quality video both night and day, pretty much plug and play setup with the iOS app and an intuitive interface. Lots of extra IoT gadgets that can be simply integrated into the system, such as PIR motion sensor. Personal wishlist for extra features would inlcude being able to connect to it using my existing surveillance setup, plus a desktop PC app in addition to the smart phone app.

So I installed this in the kitchen so I could monitor the teenagers independently cooking while I was out. It comes with a bracket for installing onto a wall/ceiling. I installed under the kitchen cupboards – however the video in the app is upside down because the camera is upside down. Most have a way to tell the app the camera is installed on a ceiling but I can’t find it in the SwitchBot app. The viewing angle is also not as wide as some others I have, but i can still see most of the kitchen.

It does work with Alexa and is fairly fast to load. Picture quality is good.

Picked one of these up on the spur of the moment so I could monitor my dog while I’m out and about.

Setup was simple via the app, but you’ll need your own USB power source as one wasn’t supplied with the camera.

Motion tracking has been excellent, and motion alerts let me see what’s going on – mostly the dog sleeps! But I can see when they get up and move around, or potentially if somebody came in.

Overall quality has been good, it’s easy to use, though I haven’t added any camera automations yet. I’d quite like an outdoor equivalent to match.

I was suprised when this item arrived in a small box, I don’t know why but I guess in my mind security cameras are great big lugging things with a multitude of wires – but not so in this case. It’s a beautifully designed ‘pod’ with a white outer shell and the camera lens mounted inside a black rotating ball at the top.

It comes with a wall/ceiling bracket so you can fix it up, as well as screws, raw plugs and a template sticker! They really thought the installation element through and made it as easy as possible – I really appreciated they extra mile.

The unit itself charges via a usb lead (included) and holds the charge for a decent amount of time – though you do need to remember to charge it sometimes. I found the camera/picture quality excellent, especially for the price. With the 2K video you can zoom in and see details without it pixelating, you can also rotate things 360 degrees which is really great too.

The motion detection is good if not a little too sensitive at times so I have mine set to the least sensitive level. Your recordings can be kept in the cloud (you subscribe to do this) or you can simply do what I did and buy a cheap SD card for a fiver and store your recordings on that. Either way you’re able to back them up and view them whenever you like.

A really good quality gadget that looks how a security camera would look if Apple made security cameras (I probably shouldn’t give them ideas – keep an eye out for the Apple I-cam folks lol).

    Brilliant product, highly recommended.

Great security camera with high-quality specs among other brands
This security camera offers a 2K resolution which allows you to have a clearer and more natural picture even in bad lighting. You can pan and tilt at 360 horizontally and 115 vertically. It also provides split-screen viewing to check up on multiple places and a built-in speaker and mic to communicate with everyone when you’re away from home.
What I like best is you can control all these functions in an application, but motion detection notification sends too many. I wish that you can customize it according to what motion you prefer and records it too.
For 49.99, it is a good buy for working parents because it helps you monitor everything in the home even if you’re away.

I had a little bit of trouble connecting to WiFi but after I kept trying and persevering it’s up and running and working fine now.

I love the small and compact inconspicuous size and design, the pan and tilt features is an excellent feature, it makes this camera a versatile and Multifunctional device to use as you see fit , security , baby cam, pet cam, keeping an eye on certain areas or even in a shed, conservatory, workshop or work space, the camera is small and lightweight and you could place it anywhere you like.

It’s packed full of features you would expect from a modern indoor security camera , night vision , motion detection, with excellent picture quality.

An ideal option for someone who is looking for a small compact security camera that isn’t too bulky or expensive but also has the capability to pan and tilt.

I have a similar designed camera to this but I prefer the small and compact size , it’s less bulky and easier on the eye.

It could also make a good option to keep an eye on a baby, toddler as the picture is good in darkness or daylight so it’s an option to use as a baby monitor.

  30. Andrew Stevens says:

This is a well made and useful internal CCTV camera, useful as a baby or pet monitor or just for general monitoring of rooms. The item has minimal packaging, which is always good from an environmental perspective. It comes with a plug and USB-A to micro cable. Upgrading it to a USB-C connector on the camera would be good, but a positive is that the cable is about 50cm long, so there’s no need to place the camera too close to a socket or have unsightly extension cables. The camera comes with a ceiling mount, screws and fittings. It’s lightweight so you don’t worry that the camera might be too heavy.

The camera is very easy to set up. It comes with a set of very clear instructions. It’s important to follow them in order, particularly remembering to remove the protective film over the camera lens. You have to install the SwitchBot app, and if you want to have recorded footage you need to install a memory card, supplied separately. I haven’t installed a memory card to give full recording capabilities, but it does still record snapshots of movement in the app for review or deletion. The camera is easily installed on the app, simply connect the camera to your existing home wireless network for viewing on your phone.

It has many features such as night mode (with infra-red LEDs), privacy mode that allows you to quickly shut the camera off (the lens physically drops down, not just the software in the app turning it off). It also has modes to detect movement (and start recording) and also to track movement. The app has selectable features for the level of detection, such as only picking up on people or low/medium/high thresholds for movement.

For remote viewing, the app warns you that you are using cellular data, so you know you’re not on WiFi and may be subject to high data usage. The bandwidth rate is shown in the top corner, with SD/HD options as required. Live viewing on a data connection has slight lag, especially when turning the camera around, but being able to view and rotate a camera from 200miles away in mere seconds isn’t that bad. The ability to hear through your phone and speak back is also invaluable.

Overall, a high quality camera, good image quality and an app that’s got the majority of the main desirables covered. It could be improved by having integral storage (a basic amount, with users able to add a memory card if they want extra), but that isn’t a deal breaker.

I’ve ordered this SwitchBot indoor security camera to keep an eye on our new addition to the family – 7 month old russian blue kitten.

Camera arrived nicely boxed with user guide and mounting kit.

It looks and feels well made from a good quality plastic.

I found it easy to set up, I have few cameras already in my house and all of them are similar to set up.

I had to install an app on my mobile phone in order to view what is going on at home when I’m at work/shopoing/on holidays etc.
App was easy and fast to install and is straightforward to navigate through.
There is option to split the screen in to four squares, I found it very useful.
    Connection is pretty stable.
I have it connected to 2.4GHz WiFi.
Camera can be rotated 360 degree, what is just perfect, so my kitten cannot hide.
I like that I can share access to the camera with my family members.

This camera has a very nice picture quality, very sharp with vibrant colours – 2K. Even at night time at dark picture is nice and sharp but black and white.
The picture is brighter and definitely of the better quality than from my previous 1080P camera.

This camera has many useful features to include smart tracking, two-way audio, movement detection, human detection, works well with Alexa & Google Home etc. It is nice to be able to voice control the camera.

Audio is very loud and clear.
Smart tracking most of the time works well, just sometimes it loosing object when it is moving too fast.

I use 64GB micro SD card as a storage, but Cloud storage is also available.
When SD card is full it just overwrites old recordings.

It sent alerts and even can trigger the alarm.

Excellent camera, very versatile, would be perfect as a baby monitor, security camera etc.
Intuitive to use, great picture quality, definitely worth to invest in.

I have two cats that have tummy problems so it’s very important to keep an eye on the litter tray. I already have a camera set up but sometimes it has connectivity issues.
The picture quality from this camera is fantastic! And the night vision is far superior to the camera I currently use.
I really like that rather than having to pay for cloud storage to record anything (which is also an option), you have the option of using a micro sd card. I had to dig around the house a bit – I knew I had one somewhere! It took me a while to find where to put it! You roll the camera back and the slot is below the lens.
I’ve just got the camera sitting on a surface but there is an attachment so that it could be attached more permanently mounted on a surface or fixed upside-down. I can’t see how it would be possible to attach this to a wall but I could be wrong.
I didn’t have any issues connecting to my wifi other than the app couldn’t detect my camera via bluetooth – I had to select my camera from a list of devices and then it connected. It may sound a strange comment but the sounds the camera makes while it is searching and connecting aren’t awful – my other camera beeps in a way that makes me want to throw it across the room when it won’t connect!
There are a few features to choose from: night vision, motion detection, motion tracking, an alarm and also a privacy mode for which the camera rolls it’s eye back in it’s head. This is a thoughtful feature to have if you’re feeling uneasy about a camera that is connected to the internet filming in your home….the thought has crossed my mind in the past when I’m in the kitchen in the middle of the night looking like Melisandre without her necklace!
I’m not crazy about the app. It’s got some great things, like if you have several cameras then you can view a four-way split screen of them. I just find a few things a bit counter intuitive and managing my recordings isn’t the easiest. To be fair, the app has to do a lot as Switch Bot make a lot of products that are all controlled through this app so you can have a whole Switch Bot automated home if you really want to! Locks, lights cameras, curtains, all sorts!
I have the app set to send an alert to my phone when it detects motion. The only issue I have found with this is that it doesn’t seem to send this notification if my phone is already viewing the camera. This is an issue because I will have my phone next to me displaying the wonderful camera view of the cat litter tray and although I’m keeping an eye on it, I’m not watching this constantly. The notification sound gives me a nudge to tell me a cat is in the area and then I can watch to see if I am needed out there or not. I haven’t found a way to change settings so that it does sound while viewing the camera but I’ll have a play and update this if I do.
The instructions you get in the box with the camera are very basic but they do have a website with a help centre and you can contact them through various social media sites.
All in all, I’m very impressed with this camera as the image is of such high quality.

This Switchbot is a great little camera that has full 360 degree recording, and a lot of features to keep you safe.
Included in the box are The Bot power cable and power plug (this is a micro usb cable and a usb plug, with the cable not being particularly long, so you may need a longer cable depending on where you are placing the camera), an instruction manual, mounting bracket and guide, screws and rawl plugs to mount to a hard surface/ceiling etc. There is also a Micro SD slot on the camera, located by rolling the camera lens up over and it is at the bottom.

Setup is relatively straight forward, but I had to reset the SwitchBot at which point it started to work, and allowed me to connect using the QR code. You do also have to register the SwitchBot which isn’t so much of a bad thing (I haven’t been bombarded with emails from the manufacturers).

Once it is setup and placed where you want it, its as simple as opening your app to view the captures and the live images. This allows you to monitor your items (baby monitoring, watching a pet, or in my case keeping an eye on my Father in Law who is quite frail).

There are options in the app for switching between Normal and Night vision, motion detection, motion tracking, and the ability to record direct in the app, take screenshot ad-hoc, sound an alarm and speak through the SwitchBot. If you have more than 1 Switchbot you can view them all in app as well, and switch between them all.

Picture and Video quality can be switched between HD and SD quality, however the quality is acceptable in both resolutions. Sadly, I found that rotating the camera whilst recording gave a poor video recording (video attached) however this may have been due to me rotating completely rather than simply allowing the video to record.

One major issue I found, which may not be so much of an issue if you are only recording in doors is that if you have night vision activated and have the Switchbot pointed at a window, you get the reflection of the night vision lights/sensors in the window which really limits what you can see (again, screenshot attached to show that).

One other thing to note is that Cloud storage is not included and requires a subscription, which may be something for you to factor in when purchasing the camera, however you could get a Micro SD card for storage which would negate the need for cloud storage.

This is a great camera, with some great features, but a couple of slight issues that don’t really hamper the camera too much. Recommended purchase.

Great quality 360 camera with day and night vision, great for keeping an eye on things

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsing it as a baby monitor, the camera quality is much better than the competition. All competing baby monitors are 1080 which do not give good quality when zoomed in. This camera has 2k video feed so zoom looks much better.

It’s 360 camera so no matter how I keep it I can rotate it to check the surroundings.

Was very easy to setup. Just took a minute and then was up and running. Motion detection works well. SD card storage means I don’t need to pay for cloud storage. Google home and Alexa setup was very easy and convenient as competitor baby monitors don’t have this support for video feed.

Highly recommend the 2k version. Very good company.

The SwitchBot security camera comes with clear instructions and was easy to set up and my tech skills are limited. It is controlled via an app which is standard these days so I’m used to using them. The field of vision is 360 degrees on the horizontal and 115 degrees vertically providing an ample view of the kitchen and back door where I have set up my camera as this is a more vulnerable area. I was impressed with the night vision, picture quality and sound. In addition, there is two-way talk so you may communicate with a partner, child or dog or anyone in the vicinity. I also like the way it detects the slightest sound or motion. It is attractive and non-intrusive but mostly makes me feel more secure.
I would recommend this product as value for money and of a considered design and does everything I hoped it would achieve.

This I found was easy enough to set up and a simple case of downloading an app link to wifi and adding a device, once added it can be viewed from anywhere and the image quality at 2k is very usable in both day and night conditions, the pan and tilt feature means with strategic placement you can cover a full room with this, all in all, about what I expect for the premium price of 50 pounds so it gets my recommendation.

I got this camera to keep an eye on my pets when I am out of the house. It’s very easy to set up, you just need to download the app.

The images are pretty good! You can use the talk mode, but I personally won’t use this. You will be alerted via the app when there’s movement, so if you are leaving the house empty, this will alert you to any intruders. It’s a great home security camera that will provide peace of mind. It’s very affordable too. You can link it up to Alexa, but I must admit I’ve not done this either.

I love that it can rotate 360 degrees too. I recommend.

The camera comes well packaged in a good quality box, which should ensure it arrives undamaged.

The camera itself is sleek looking and of a simple but elegant design and looks unobtrusive, though the need to have a power lead means, if like me and you don’t like surface mounted cables, then the power lead needs to be hidden.

If like me you don’t like to read the instructions and prefer to work intuitively then you will find this unit is easy to set up. That said, I think it would have been even easier and a bit quicker had I bothered to read the instructions!

I did like that there were printed instructions, and the use of the QR code to quickly and easily obtain the app. Once I scanned the QR code to download the app, I set up the camera from the app without further help or reference to the printed instruction. Though today, I have read the instructions to complete some fine tuning! I also used the printed instructions to link the camera to our Alexa Echo. This was very quick and simple to achieve.

The device has lots of great features all controlled by the phone app and the motion sensor feature is really useful and can track 360 if necessary. The two-way speaker feature is useful, particularly if you wanted to monitor a child or pet from another location and needed to be able to speak as well as listen.

There is a need to create a SwitchBot account but I just signed in with my Google account and all was good.

As soon as I logged in I got an email from SwitchBot tech to provide me with a number of routes to find help. At this time I have not needed to contact them. There is also a helpful printed card [again good quality card] in the pack with ways to contact tech support for help.

My first impressions are all very positive and I believe this device would be suitable for set-up by most people even the tech-phobic. Plus, it is only once you have the device you realise how useful it could be for all manner of applications.

I had not been aware of this company but will now look at some of the other devices they produce.

Fab little camera! Using indoors, on the window sill looking out through window.
Easy to connect to WiFi and set up with the download able app.
Fantastic picture quality, can pan 360 degrees, SD slot, can record & take pic while watching live.
My only issue is the human detection, I have it on low sensitivity, but get alot of motion alerts and its a car or van, not human. Night vision is good, but behind glass like mine picture not great and sensor light reflects.
Other than that, a good basic camera with lots of tools& great picture.

Easy to set up. Just download the app Switchbot and register. Easy registration. Setting up the CCTV camera on the app is easy. Instruction manual is easy to follow. Very reactive when using the app to turn cctv around to view the room. Microphone is good volume although I seemed unable to find the volume control on settings. In a loud room, it can be a bit quiet when talking via cctv. Micro sim card is attachable at the bottom of the eyeball. The view is clear and crisp. Visible details on cctv. Has night vision option to turn on or off. Small and light. Does not stick out when put in the room. Have the option to buy icloud storage if needed but not a must.

Easy to set up, small and good cctv view

The camera want you to use its own smartbot app that requires you to sign up for an account (with concerns about privacy nowadays it’s about time apps stopped needing this) I have a fair few smart devices now and I tend to use the smart life app for everything. This camera was no different and I was able to set it up using smart life. I have found that when setting up you need patience for the camera to recognise the QR code displayed on the phone so just remember a bit of patience when pairing is needed. Once the camera beeps and the LED changes colour the pairing is done and first time it takes a moment to ‘build’ the control page and deal with the encryption. After that it’s easy enough to use and things like the motion alerts and motion tracking work very well. The image is so-so via the live stream and the overall experience is just above average for the current price of 50

A quick summary is that this is a great device at a competitive price point. A more detailed review is as follows.

    POSITIVES

I’ve had wireless home security cameras before that have been significantly more expensive. This device is extremely straightforward to set up, with a simple manual that has a QR code for you do download the app on your IOS or Android device. Once downloaded, it is quick and easy to find the device.
There are various settings allowing for how sensitive the camera is to movement, and I found even at it’s least sensitive setting, it picks up most things, an example being leaves moving on a tree around 4 metres from the house at medium sensitivity.
I have tested it indoors and out and it has not missed a beat. It detects movement and tracks and records. With a cloud option or with an SD card, it will record video as well as stills, with a push notification to your phone or connected device. There is a slot for a micro SD card just under the lens, storing up to 256Gb data.
It is Google and Alexa compatible.
There is a speaker on the camera allowing you to speak through it, as well as a relatively quiet alarm that could be used as a deterrent to intruders.
It comes with all the fittings for a solid wall mounting.
Records in both SD and HD and has a very effective night vision mode that loses little in the way of resolution.
Has a privacy mode to temporarily deactivate the device.

    NEGATIVES

It connects via 2.4Ghz 802.11 so it isn’t blistering quick, most notable when manually panning the camera from your phone. There is clearly a lag preventing smooth panning.
The micro USB lead that connects the device to the mains is around 2metres in length. If you plan to mount this on a high ceiling, or away from a wall socket, this may be an issue, but probably easily resolved with a longer cable.

    Summary

I really like this as both a security option as well as a baby monitoring device. Pitched at a reasonable price point, 49.99 at the time of writing. I would have no reservations in recommending.

Incredibly impressed and fantastic price poi

No doubt it has a quality video and easy installation. Instructions are all in the box but I need to look for videos to get it done easily. It also rotates 360 which makes the product more interesting. It just needs to be plugged in while using it, there’s no power supply like other equipment. The sound is really good too. I guess the product is just right for its price.

I already had the Nooie Camera which is very similar to this camera but soon we will be moving our little one into his own room so we were looking for a second camera and we saw this.

Set up is relatively easy, There are quite a few steps to go through if you want it to run through your amazon alexa or google devices but all in all it didn’t take long, I would suggest naming it something simple if you want your Alexa show to connect properly, I simply went with My Baby’s name and Cam at the end so when i want to see him when asleep i just ask it to display Rupert’s Cam.

In terms of delay there is a 2-3 second delay but it does seem a lot more responsive than the nooie camera and the app which you can find a link to via a QR code in the manual is very simple and easy to use.

Another added bonus is you can record directly to your phone’s camera roll which is very handy.

The quality is also very good even when zooming in and it features night vision mode.

Overall if you want this for a security cam, a door cam, Baby cam etc its well worth the 50 and you cant go wrong, It will save you money overall.

Small and with wireless video connection. You will need local power for it, very good image in light or dark. Good motion tracking or anything within a range of about 4-5 feet and fairly quiet operation when rotating up or down to track movement. Lots of configuration options. Deserving of the “Smart” label. Good instructions and guide to setup.

I purchased this initially as a second camera to one I already had in my lounge, which is a different name and is connected directly to my home router via a data cable.

When this new camera arrived, it only had a micro usb mains adapter socket, not even a small plastic aerial and no socket to plug in a data cable. Plugged it in and the camera went through a set up procedure. I then downloaded the Switchbot app. Very easy to set up and you get an option on the app to say what you are trying to connect. After that was all done, the image appeared on my phone and the resolution is fantastic. Much higher quality than my other camera. It comes with a mounting bracket, but rather than drill a hole into the ceiling or walk, I simply mounted the bracket onto my curtain pole using two cable ties. The camera then pushed onto the bracket with a quarter turn to lock it in place. On the settings menu on the app you can choose to invert the image as the camera is effectively upside down. It works brilliantly and I also like the idea of having a motion sensor alert option which sends me a message if the camera picks up any motion. The lens is also wide angle so I can see my whole lounge. I’m so impressed with this camera I’ve ordered a second one for my bedroom. I have no reservations about this camera and for the price it’s a great buy. I’m more than happy to recommend it.

Images are very clear and also has night mode, picture is soo clear! Can speak on your phone through to it, record, etc. highly recommend. Only downside is the noise it makes when moving the camera

Don’t need iCloud – get a mini SD card 128gb for 12 and omg saves you ever having to pay iCloud. It holds all your photos and videos without paying more!! Move the camera screen up and insert it in slot underneath. No iCloud needed!

  62. Anonymous says:

Not super high res, and depends on an SD card being in (for those of you looking, roll the black eye section up to expose the card slot).

The motion detection needs to be straight on and without foreground obstructions, limiting youbto putting the camera front and center of the monitored space; not very discrete.

Its made very cheaply, with a simple low res (1280×800 i got at 14fps) web cam quality image. No sound. Its not bad looking, but itll never win a design award.

But you can look at an area and see whsts going on.

It’s super simple and very straightforward to set up. All you need to do is scan the QR code and download the app and you can control the features via your mobile/devices.

It’s compact in size however still a good build with lots of good features and rotates 360 horizontally and 115 vertically so captures a great range.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersbought this to try as a secondary baby monitor for my twins who are currently in 2 different rooms, as our current monitor has to be attached to the crib i thought this one would give us flexibility as they get older and can monitor them when playing. camera works perfectly, really easy to set up and use. my only gripe is that i wish it was accessable via a separate app maybe so that its easier for my wife to use without all my switchbot products but on the whole would recommend to all.

I bought this product to monitor the baby when he is sleeping, it is missing some adjustments, but it is perfect for what I need at the moment. The camera shoots clearly, having 1080p, but not when you move quickly in front of it. The microphone is perfect for hearing the baby when she wakes up, but if the camera had used it for another purpose I don’t think he would have done too well. I like the fact that it rotates 360 degrees and can film any angle. It’s a little difficult to walk through the menu, but over time you learn and you can find out what else it can do. 4 stars because of the image quality

This works very well as a camera. The only negative really with this (apart from needing the extra hub to connect to a smart home) is the noise of the motor when the camera moves around tracking the movement.
When recording or watching the audio you get the whir which muffles the sound on the video. The noise isn’t that loud when you’re in the room but on the footage it is.

It’s a smart looking little camera, feels nice and all seems good quality and well made. The motion capture works well and tracks well.
The SwitchBot app lets you set options for the camera such as motion detect where you get the various options which you will get notifications about if the threshold has been met.

I’d be a lot happier if it linked straight up with a smart home network like everything else seems to do now, even the cheap smart bulbs through the smart life app.

Good all round camera with good features and a decent price as well. Be warned you will need a separate hub to connect to anything else.

This is a personal cctv camera that you can tilt and turn to look all round the area you have it in.
It works on the 2.4ghz wifi which we have a booster on because we have so many smart plugs and lights in our home that also only work on this frequency.
At the time of review this was on sale for <30 which considering what it can do is impressive.
It is an indoor only camera equally suitable for keeping an eye on pets or little humans.
The initial set up was very easy with my iPhone 12, download the app and before you know it everything is working.
The picture quality is perfectly adequate for my needs, if someone is up to no good in my home 1080 is plenty good enough to let me know.
You can set it to send you an alert whenever it detects movement which gives great peace of mind.
It even works in low light, albeit in black and white only it is still very impressive.
The app is able to tilt and pan the camera, albeit with a little lag but it does work!
There is a slot for a storage card but if someone were up to no good in your home they would take this with them when they leave!
When I think what we paid 40 years ago for a cctv system in our old family shop!
We would have been astounded by this even if it cost 20 times the current selling price!
I would certainly recommend this camera at the current price! HTH

This video baby monitor is great gadget, it does everything what you need to feel safe while you baby sleeps in the other room or you leave your pet alone at home.

Unfortunately, the camera is not battery powered and it must be plugged into the main all the time but other than this I have not found anything else what it would put me off to buy this baby monitor again.
This camera is featured with the usual things like:
    Clear two-way audio conversations
    Sound detection
    Night vision
Motorised Tilt and pan (controlled with smart phone)
    Motion Alerts

To get out the most if this camera, you need to download the Nooie app on your mobile, available for both Android and iOS phones. This app will open a tone of features like:

1.Real-time Monitoring: remotely monitor your property/pet/baby, watch a live view of your home

2.Instant Alerts: Nooie App pushes alarms such as abnormal motion detection or sound detection to your mobile phone.

3.Cloud Service: Recordings can be set to be uploaded and stored to the encrypted global Amazon cloud servers automatically and You can access your cloud video history via Nooie App anytime, anywhere. This is a paid service.

You don’t necessarily need the paid cloud service as the camera is features with a micro-SD card slot and is compatible with any card up to 128G storage.

You can link this camera with Google home assistance or with Alexa, which is s superb added extra for this camera. If you have the Amazon echo show it can be used for live stream the picture of this camera and you can watch your baby even if you are in another room.

To be honest I still can’t believe this camera is only 29.99 ( at the time I’ve wrote this review), it’s too good to be true. Highly recommend, it’s a very little investment to keeping your eyes on your pet, home or your baby.

Wish List – Would like to see:
    – A geofencing option so that it only records when I’m away from the property.
    – A record on a schedule option so can setup to only record at night
    – Allow notifications to also send a image of the motion trigger (in addition to viewing them on the app)

This camera is fairly small compared to some similar models which is good as it’s more discreet but still packs pretty good quality when playing back the footage. The camera is very quiet when moving around on it axis which is good. Almost 360 degrees viewing and with motion tracking it can follow anything that moves to give you the best view. Easily paired to the switchbot app which including downloading the app took less than two minutes to complete. Comes with a decent length usb cable and plug with changeable European and British plugs. Install a memory card or subscribe to the cloud to record footage. Also included is a small mounting plate to fix to wall or roof if wanted. Very happy with this camera.

    Small but effective

This little camera has a great range of movement, and picture quality at night is fantastic, daytime is adequate for 1080p.

Comes with all the bits you need including a power brick and wall/ceiling adapter.

Integration with Google home works perfectly and can view my camera from all my devices.

Great camera for this price but daytime image quality could be better.

    Decent for the price

Not only does it detect movement it also notifies you on the app, so you can instantly check. Which is really good to put your mind as ease.

The camera moves horizontally up to 360, and vertically up to 115 so captures a wide space and can be attached to a wall or ceiling with the option to have it free standing.

I have placed the camera in my kitchen which has been extreamly helpful in monitoring my dogs whilst Im at work, it also give you the option to communicate to whoever is on the receiving end. This has been ideal in calming my dogs down if the door knocks whilst im out.

Overall I would highly recommend this camera!

The SwitchBot home security camera is a must have for any home!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a good camera if you want to keep an eye on your dog or cat whilst you are out. You can even talk to your pets as the audio is 2 way.

Everything you could need is included in this pack, you get a 2m cable and a USB charger.

To install, just use your Amazon or Google account, if you don’t have one it’s very easy to open one.
Use your phone to connect to the camera and it’s all fitted up.

The picture is clear day or night time up to 10 m.

No need to worry when you go out because you will know exactly what your pets are doing and you can talk to them for they love to hear your voice.

    Price is very good.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis simple monitor from SwitchBot is one of the best baby monitors I’ve use in this price range, though there’s still a few short comings that stop it from being perfect.

Firstly, the quality isn’t horrendous — it’s 1080p so you’ll be able to understand any movement in the room but not at a zoom’ed in state. The microphones two way audio are equally good -but not great; so in my “parent brain” this transitions well to knowing if a toddler has indeed settled into bed ok and not snuck a tablet to game on but not being able to tell if a baby’s breathing is consistent.

The camera does support a micro sd card for internal storage but in terms of using it as a baby monitor this is less important. The camera app can be setup to play moderately well with Alexa if required so you can see the camera quite quickly.

The pan motion is 360 which is quite useful, there’s a “privacy mode” that hides the lens which is great and there’s a lot of ‘hidden’ features of the app which feels quite hidden behind a “simple setup” mentality. It’s like everything is setup in a way to make it appear as simple as possible, which has the unfortunate effect of making some tasks more complicated as it involved digging through menus to find them.

Worth downloading the “switchbot” app before purchase to see if you’re happy with giving it the access it requests to avoid disappointment ahead of time. In terms of setup, it’s one of the smoothest initial setups I’ve had with such a product and the app is very well designed for basic features — but as mentioned above, it does take a bit of digging to find some of the more advanced features.

I feel this would work well as a “petcam” and does a pretty good job as a “baby monitor”. It’s affordable, full of features and somewhat simple to setup — though more difficult than it should be to tweak past it’s default settings.

    Very neat little wifi camera
