I found the instructions hard to follow. The chain track comes in sections which were quite hard to push together.
Once assembled and fitted it works well. Chain is a little noisier than the original unit which was belt driven.
Good value for money
This garage door motor is cheaper than most on the market but does not feel cheap. The quality of the item is great and has a smooth running powerful motor which can easily bet set to limits that suit your need.
Assembly of the garage door opener is pretty simple if following the instructions step by step. We have an apex garage roof which did make hanging the motor a little bit more tricky but if you have a flat foor it would be a simple fit.
I would recommend two people to make installation easier.
Overall I would highly recommend this product if you are looking to automate your garage door and i will be looking at other products from Topens
This is a great value item & if you follow the instructions (unlike me) then it is easy to install. It is also easy to add your own bell push if you want to – just buy a cheap one on Amazon. The only struggle I had was with the chain which seemed to have a mind of its own. You do need to follow the chain installation very carefully or you end up in a right tangle.

I thought long and hard about this opener. It generally has good reviews for operation, but about 50% seem to say difficult to install. I decided to risk it.
Putting it together is very difficult, it took me 3 or 4 attempts over about 4 hours to build it. The instructions are awful and the drawings aren’t very clear. A good refresh of the instructions with photos and an online video would be a great improvement.
Fitting is a bit of a challenge, you really need two people. The drawing shows it sitting on a step ladder – which is great if you have one the right height. If you don’t then you need another person.
Programming is very easy. The learn function to pair the key fobs is very straight forward, the programming for the open and closed door positions is also very simple. The remaining functions for force can be left at their defaults.
Operation is simple. Press the fob to open, press again to close. The unit is quiet considering its a chain drive in a metal guide. I particularly like the slow start / slow finish system. It doesn’t take very long to open and there is an alarm sound when it starts to close. Overall I am very happy with it.
I have had some issues however. I had an email conversation with Zack in the support team during the fitting together phase trying to sort out the instructions. The response was very quick and very helpful. Then about a week after it was installed, both key fobs stopped operating. Again Zack in the tech support team was very good. The control board was diagnosed as faulty and a new one was sent to me. It was easy to install and since then everything has worked fine.
As an aside, I have now fitted a Meross smart wifi opener to the unit and can now control it either with the fob or via Alexa.
Overall though I am happy and would recommend it to others.
Sort of used my old opener locating points so even easier to fit, after fitted realised there was a twist in the chain so had to redo, just double check.

After initially having some problems with my first attempt to put it together (my error, not the product or instructions) I contacted Topens to ask for advice. Their customers service was excellent and they agreed to replace the part damaged in my first attempt, If I tried again.
This time I trusted the product and instructions fully. It still took my dad and I a few hours to install it (as we had to fit DIY brackets onto my rafters and above the door to fit the machine) but the end result is a really smooth and quiet door opener.
I believe it is the effectively the same as more expensive brands (my neighbour has one next door), so don’t be concerned about the relatively low price!
This is a great piece of equipment which has made opening our heavy double garage door easy, we did have an issue with a faulty control board but the seller sorted a new one quickly and now works perfectly.
My previous up and over garage door opener broke, something to do with the electronics as one day it just opened the door and kept trying to open it.
I got the topens as it was the best match I could find. I wasn’t looking forward to installing as I’m not that, how can I put this, DIY competent. Also the previous door opener was anscrewndesign not a chain like this one.
The instructions were straight forward though. The only mistake I made was putting the piece that is pulled by the chain in the wrong way (had to unclip the chain and re-thread through).
Great value, easy to install, and works like it should. Had a slight issue with the manual switch. However the customer service team were excellent and got the problem solved quickly.
Great product, incredibly quiet – I would argue that it’s quieter than manually opening the door as it is more smooth and steady, rather than being pulled open by me, which is a quicker and noisier process! The opener is very quick indeed. It has a built in light which I really like, and works a treat. The main unit is nice and compact and the bulb is easy to access – I switched out the bulb for an LED version without issue as I had a spare lying around.
I found the garage door opener very easy to assemble and install. The only slightly tricky bit was assembling the runner for the chain mechanism, but it’s pretty self explanatory – just follow the diagrams carefully and you’ll be fine. If in doubt, give customer services a call.
I had a slight issue with the motor unit, but customer services were excellent and helped me to pinpoint and rectify the issue. They were very patient and accommodating. Since the issue was resolved the unit has worked flawlessly and I’ve been using it daily for the past month. It’s running smooth as can be. So far, so good, and I can’t see there being any issues in the future.
I may install a HomeKit add-on to control the opener from my phone. This unit is able to support such an add-on which is great!
We find it super convenient and a lot more affordable than a whole new garage door system. I’d argue this is better as you could easily swap out the door and keep the opener if you were to accidentally damage the door itself. Overall, great product and I’m glad I bought it.
A good piece of kit. Good value for money. It’s makes opening and closing my garage so much easier. I fitted myself and the instructions are a bit iffy but managed easily enough. I had a few teething problems but Topens couldn’t have been more helpful.
Took me 2 hours to install from opening the box to complete install. The instructions could use some improvement, some of its in Chinese wording so doesn’t make sense, but the diagrams are all you need really, and the instructions for setting the limits is very clear. The instruction manual was adequate for somebody who is mechanically adept but would not be good enough for the average DIYer. I was satisfied with the end result after my modifications. The track was far to flimsy and I supported it at its mid-point with a screw into the ceiling. The system as delivered is not suitable for an application where the track has to be mounted on the ceiling. The technical support is outstanding and all my queries were answered by return.
I would recommend this product to anyone who would like to upgrade their garage’s door, it requires some of DIY knowledge to install it and if you install it correctly, it works perfectly , and it is very good value for money
I must to mention that 1 remote control comes with the package didnt work , and I contacted their customer services, they were very helpful by posted a replacement unit the following day, and new remote control works as it should, to that degree, I highly recommend this products and selle

This opener was purchased to replace a 25 year old existing opener that could not be repaired. Apart from some of the initial problems fitting the chain all was very straightforward and I completed the installation unaided. The fitting was completed after I purchased a remote keypad as the existing was not compatible to the new opener. Generally good value for money.

I was a little dubious about the ability of this less expensive door opener to handle my heavy double garage door. No problem. The unit operates smoothly and quietly.
Assembly of the drive assembly with its very long chain was a bit fiddly and care is needed to get everything the right way round.
A query by email was answered promptly.
Too soon to assess its longevity but so far I am delighted and highly recommend this unit.
Came really quickly and is value for money. Easy to assemble, instructions are relatively simple to follow if you are used to DIY. If not then get some help from a friend,there was nothing challenging about the set up.
The only issue I had was to screw it to the ceiling and door as you need to locate the beams to secure it. I drilled holes through the garage door to secure the bracket using my own bolts.
Simple stud finder did the trick locating the beams but I also used other screws bnq to finish the job.
It comes with all the parts required but I normally use my own additional screws to add extra strength.
I found the assembly of chain not especially clear on the instructions but once that was done it was up in no time. The programming was especially clear. Am very pleased!
I managed to DIY this on a canopy door (with separate chamberlain door arm) and protruding lintel. Works pretty well and looks solid. The remote has very good range.
Thanks to all who advised me on fitting the chain into the rail (this is the trickiest bit!). Particularly to David G. Evans.
As he said, you need to insert the idler pulley at one end first, take out the bolt so it can slide down the rail further. Then attach the black release mechanism half way down, then finally attach the drive pulley at the other end. Tightening the idler pulley bolt then creates the necessary chain tension for it to work. The instructions are pretty remiss on this aspect.
Setting the controls is fairly easy. I haven’t managed to get my door to fully open (and then close) but I have plenty of clearance to get the car in and out. Might need to make some adjustments (will post a new Q now).
Overall great value and can be installed by a relative novice!
Bought this a little under a year ago and was not expecting much for the price but it certainly delivers. A little complicated to install, I hate photo only instructions but with the help of a friend we worked through it and had it fully installed and working in a couple of hours.
Have had an issue with it recently, 11 months on, but a couple of emails to their customer service team has resolved it satisfactorily and quickly (thank you Zack!!) I would definitely recommend buying from this company.
Instructions are rather poor and completely reversed in many cases. I ended up having to refit about 3 times at various stages because the instructions make no sense and many stages and even the drawings are back to front.
Once it’s up programming is super simple. Having had such a poor experience of installing the kit I expected it to be a headache but it wasn’t at all.
The remote key for has 4 buttons but only 1 is required.
Speed is quite slow but I guess good for safety.
Would recommend for the price but set aside 6 hours to install.
The fob failed after the first day but Shelley at topens sent me out a replacement master board. Very impressed with the customer service. A+++
Not so easy to setup and install but great when completed.
The Topens CASAR 800 garage door opener is an inexpensive unit but appears to be robustly built. It runs smoothly and the soft stop/start function is a nice touch. Only time will tell if it lasts as long as the 35 year old unit which it replaced. The User’s Manual is not the clearest but it is adequate and assembly and installation are straight forward. However, there are some points worth noting.
The paper manual shipped with the unit is an older version. The latest version, which also has different paragraph numbering, can be downloaded from Topens’ website. It is worth doing this, particularly if you contact their support team as this is the version they will refer to.
The 4 rail sections are not all the same as stated in the manual. Two are the same, with stop notches for the rail braces at both ends and these go in the middle of the rail. One has holes in it and stop notches at one end only and this goes at the outer end of the rail with the idler pulley and header sleeve in the end without the notches. The last has notches at one end only and this goes at the drive unit end of the rail with the sprocket assembly in the end without the notches.
The idler pulley bracket on my unit was a very tight fit into the rail and needed to be knocked in with a piece of wood. This compressed the top and bottom cheeks and jammed the pulley which, being plastic, would have been worn through by the chain very quickly. I fixed this by taking the pulley out and filing a bit off the top and bottom of the shaft bearing so that it turned freely.
The sprocket assembly sleeve was also a very tight fit onto the drive unit output shaft. I found it easier to fit the sprocket assembly to the output shaft first and then fit the chain and rail to the sprocket.
I had some difficulty testing the auto-stop feature when the door is opening, but this was very quickly resolved by comprehensive advice from Topens’ online support service (Thank you Zack).
Easy to install, well made product would definitely buy again.
I had a minor problem with installing the product and when I contacted TOPENS they could not have been more helpful and resolved the problems quickly and efficiently. I am delighted with the garage door opener which saves having to open it manually – particularly in the rain!
Soft open and close, very quiet operation and easy to set up.
I wanted to adapt a standard up and over door opener to operate side hinge doors. This has worked very well and I’m very pleased with it. The only downside are the instructions; for those of you who remember Les Dawson playing the piano they are like that, they seem correct but then you get a duff note that throws you! Other than that I’d recommend it.

I am quiet an experienced d.i.y.er but at first this seems a little daunting but just follow the instructions step by step and it is relatively easy to install in a few hours.
It is essential to get an external quick release so you can open the door if anything fails.
Mine has worked very well from the start but I have had to adjust the calibration once as after a short while as the door was not quite closing fully, a small problem that was most likely as a result of all the mechanical parts taking up the slack in the system.
I was very surprised at the reasonable cost of this item it is well worth it.

This was the first time I installed a garage opener and I found the instructions a little difficult to follow. However I’m really happy with the end result and the device operates as expected. The key fob works great. My set up is for a canopy up and over garage door which required a door conversion arm. I would highly recommend and I am considering a second set for the other garage door.
This a a great product. It does exactly what it should do at a tremendous price. The cost of this closer was not much more than just a replacement remote control for my old one. Very easy to set up although the instructions could be a bit clearer on laying out the chain and joining it in the correct way.

My old garage door opener gave up some time ago, so after trawling the net I came across Topens Casar800, I liked what I read and so ordered one. It was delivered very quickly so I installed it. The instructions are a little vague but adequate. I had a slight problem with setting up parameters but on contacting Topens found that there response in after sales was tremendous and would gladly recommend this product and company .

Bought garage opener on Feb 4th 2021 I have a 3metre wide 2 metre high retractable door.no problems fitting opener easy to set up soft opening and closing makes for quiet operation.light flashing on control panel after installation e mailed topens had quick reply ,it shows owner on stand by.good to know if I have any problems topens will be quick to resolve.very pleased with purchase well worth the price
I purchased this on the 4 Feb for 109.00 thought I would order another on the 11 Feb but now it’s 139.00 its gon up 30, not a 5 or 10 but 30 what a cheek. so I’m going to eBay to by a Foresee f700 for 115.00. but if I was to spend 139 i would by a good make LiftMaster LM50EV for 129
I fitted two of these in April 2020 and found them quite easy to fit. They are a bit of a fiddle to set accurately, but that’s largely due to the fact that I have fitted them to canopy doors. That said, they have worked well and are particularly good value for money.
One of the doors developed a glitch in that it kept defaulting to a narrower opening despite repeated re-setting. However, Topens have been on hand and helped with the problem and have now resolved the issue by sending me a completely new unit as they have declared the original faulty.
They have been exceptionally helpful, polite and quick to respond, and I cannot praise them highly enough.

I have a Henderson Steele garage door 4.8 metre x 2 metre and I have found the TOPENS CASAR 800 lifts this with ease. However, the downside is that the remotes are quite expensive if you are intending to have multiple users. All together, I am satisfied with the product.
What a fantastic piece of kit this is. It has transformed my garage.One thing I must say is that with the door mechanism being on a track it has made my garage 100% more secure. This is the best thing that I have bought for a long time. The customer service is good as well if you need help!
Assembly of the arm and chain was relatively easy with good instructions. The trickiest part was assembling the chain to ensure there were no twists throughout its length. Fitting the assembly in the garage was relatively straigthforward with aid of a friend. The mountings supplied were very useful and just needed some bits of spare timber to affix to the the roof supports.
Programming was easy if the instructions were followed. I was amazed how simple everything was and how well it worked from the first press of the button. I have tried to attach a video of it in operation as the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I now just have to remove the existing padlock arrangement on the old door.
One gets what one pays for and compared to the much more expensive competition you get chain drive and not belt drive. Apart from getting the chain straight before assembly there are no problems here as it is not noisy. Also you have to purchase infra red emergency stops separately if you need them.
So five out five and looking forward to being able to heat the garage during the winter months instead of the whole town.
For the price this product really is a ‘no brainer’. It was easy to install and does exactly what it says on the tin. Key fobs look really high end and the garage door opens and closes with control and a steady speed. Couldn’t recommend this product highly enough. The instructions are adequate and the garage door is super easy to program. Great product and great value for money. Bought this for my son and fitted it in his garage last week. His garage door is a standard one piece up and over door with no runners along the sides which, according to Topens, is not really suitable without a bow arm, which is not supplied. At first although the door opened perfectly it refused to close. We managed to solve this problem by slightly decreasing the height that the door opens, applying grease to the vertical runners of the door and adding a small amount of weight, approximately 3.5kg, to the bottom of either side of the garage door in the form of building sand inside strong zip fastened sandwich bags which are tucked away out of site.

I fitted this Topens remote controlled garage door opener as a replacement for my previous remote controlled garage door opener. Mounting was relatively easy as I had existing supports in the garage ceiling, although the existing supports needed some minor modification. The instructions contained plenty of pictures and words, although they were not particularly easy to follow, but there was actually not much that could be done wrong. So, after several hours the installation was complete. We now have a working automated garage door opener which works well, operates quietly and which looks robust enough.
I purchased this to replace an old, broken opener. My garage door is of the canopy type which had a Chamberlain Arm attached to it. I was worried that the new opener wouldn’t be able to connect to the Arm but I contacted Topens support who assured me that this wouldn’t be a problem. And sure enough, it wasn’t! The new opener is now installed and operating perfectly with the old Chamberlain Arm. I’ve included a few pictures so that you can see how it is attached – basically you don’t use the bent connector rod that is provided with the kit – just couple the straight rod up to the arm.
It’s early days yet (I only installed it yesterday), but from what I’ve seen so far I’m very happy with the product. The opener can be installed in one day, but you might need an additional pair of hands to lift the assembly when you’re mounting the motor unit.
Only issue! The manual very confusing but for there in the end
I am 83 years of age and managed to erect my Topens garage door opener without any trouble. This is a first rate product very well presented. The instruction book made the whole process simple. Well done Topens
On most occasions I will buy the cheapest product and in most cases I wish I had gone for the most expensive one, but not in this case. It feels well made, looks good and works a treat. One word of advice remember to take the locks of the door before you start. It was easy to fit, possibly could do with 2 people but I did manage it on my own. I had read that chain drives were quite noisy so I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t overly loud. Only downside was that I found the instructions quite difficult to follow.
Purchased this to replace my 25yr old door opener. Very pleased with this purchase as it is much quieter and smoother then my previous model. The soft open and close is a really nice feature as it stops the door from banging on closing. Also the remote control has great range and I can operate our door from across the street. I have also used our old control panel on the garage wall to operate it using pins 1&2 on the unit. The only slight negative is the light which is not very bright due to the wattage restriction, but it is adequate. I’m sure that it could be replaced with a brighter LED bulb though. The setup is also very easy for the open/close positions.
I bought this product to make life a lot easier getting the motorbikes in and out of the garage for me and my wife. There was a little confusion around whether or not it works with canopy doors – it does work great but you do need a chamberlain arm. I contacted support for clarity on this and they were very helpful – thanks Sophie ! I got an arm from eBay and the combined price was still cheaper than any of the other garage door openers (and they would need the arm too).
Fitting was quite easy but as someone else has said, the manual has the Ikea style pictures at the front and the written instructions at the back. I read both bits first and installation was quite straightforward. The unit is fitted with a UK plug so you’ll need a 3-pin socket within about a metre – worth bearing in mind as not all ceilings have them 🙂 The hardest part of installation was untangling the drive chain.
The remote controls were easy to pair and are surprisingly solid little things – I was expecting cheap plastic but they’re sturdy metal. You only need one of the 4 buttons but the other buttons (apparently the others can be linked to different openers – I don’t have another so I can’t check this out).
The unit has configurable open/close force so you can tune it to optimum, it has an auto-close option too which could be useful. There’s also options to add an external open/close signal, and beam sensor to avoid squashing your kids/cat/dog. There is a safety cut out that stops at max 40kg of force but that’d be enough to end 9 of a cats lives.
The unit has been in and running for nearly a week and my wife and I love it. No more parking the bikes up, fumbling for the garage keys, moving the bikes, and locking up. We just roll onto the drive, press a button and wait about 10 seconds … excellent bit of kit.

The garage door opener is easy to assemble. If you have a basic knowledge of DIY you will be able to manage it on your own. Following assembly the item is better handled and installed by two persons. From start to finish the whole operation took around two hours. The programming of the opening and closing is also easy to do. I have only had the door a few days but it is operating without any issues. The only slight negative side is that the installation manual could be better laid out but that in nio way distracts from the quality of the produc
Only downside really on operation is that it is quite easy to push the button if in your pocket and the range is quite good. Have opened by accident a number of times and not realised. I would recommend buyi. A switch for inside the garage, leave one of the remotes in the car and the other attached up high inside the house. This way you won’t fall foul of unwanted garage door opening.

Instructions could be better as diagrams are in the front of the manual and written instructions are in the rear, it is easier to have 2copies to refer from rather than to and fro on one manual. 1st unit installed was defective and would not set or hold limits, 2nd unit worked fine. Prompt collect,refund and re order by Amazon, replacement is working fine.Will have to see if these units are durable. I installed these to canopy doors with Camberlain canopy door arms.
