Loved them. What’s not to like? They worked really well, and made planting bulbs a breeze. The only thing to remember is put the drill in a low gear so your wrist doesn’t twist off if the auger hits a rock/ stone etc. Also just a tip, have some soil on stand by to replace the soil you have drilled out, as it tends to get lost. Apart from that – cannot fault it.
Used with an 18v cordless and it did the job perfectly. One caution is beware of it hitting stones as the torque will rip the drill out of your hand. But it does the job perfectly
Fantastic for planting Bulbs. As other reviews already said, you do need to do a back and forth movement, otherwise the product stops, but I don’t find this an issue.
I found the smaller bit easier and more successful than the larger one. I was able to plant 150 bulbs in 50 minutes which is much quicker than if I had been doing it by hand.
Love this , I made 30 holes in about 8 minutes then went back and planted daffodils and tulips , I’m waiting for a winter treatment for my lawn then will start planting snowdrops and crocuses randomly into the lawn , it’s very substantial and good quality would give it 10 stars if I could
Literally a game changer! I was able to plant 12 plants in a tenth of the time it would have taken me to dig.
Used with a cordless 18v Bosch drill. This auger made light work of slate and stone too. Every gardener should have this. Excellent value for money too.
I purchased this to assist me in making holes in the ground to plant tree saplings easier in tough ground.
It was taking too much time and effort to dig holes in hard ground that I attach this to my drill and place it into the ground. It is very quick and does the job. Only down side is that you have to pull off the dirt sometimes where I think it goes round so fast that it clogs up.
But despite this, it makes the job so much easier.
It fits well into the drill and is very strong. Comes in two sizes, which is great as I have since used both.
I put In 120 lavender plants my customer was impressed at how good it worked as was I. One thing to NOTE you need a good quality 18v drill and a good grip on it. I wouldn’t use it on stoney ground or where there are lots of tree roots your wrists will thank you. All in all a good and well made tool
I wasn’t expecting much but it was better than I imagined it would be. I only used it slowly a bit at a time and it’s still in shape so all good.
I am impressed with the quality but not yet used. I had another brand that went missing and bought these to replace it. They really work well in the garden and I use it for planting and turn soil. These look well made. Always looking for bargains and this is priced right, wonder what else they make.
I am very impressed with the augers have used them to plant willow in the garden. I have very stoney soil but the auger went into the earth right in the place I wanted. Would recommend.
Even though I needed to enlarge some of the holes with a post hole digger, the auger bit being used to open up the initial hole saved me about 45 minutes work planting 20 buxus.
If you value your time at 20 p/hour, then these have already paid for themselves and will continue to be useful for planting such things as potatoes, bulbs and saplings.
Bought as a gift so do not know how it performs. Arrived on time and as described
I did go steady though as I knew I had a few stones that I could hit. It can catch your wrist when using as if it hits a solid patch it will catch and the drill will twist. Cant wait to make more holes in the garden 🙂
So far, so good, hammer action needed on a min. 20 volt cordless drill.
Update : The shaft of the largest of the two auger bits twisted when it it a large stone in the soil. It was only used for roughly 10 minutes in total.
I bought this to use on my garden, which is purely clay with the odd stone, and it worked. I had to use an sds drill (with an adpater), but that is due to the “soil”. If using on a stone heavy ground I think it struggle.
Bought this item for use on my daughter’s allotment which like most has no electricity .. this fix’s to Cordless hand drill & allows accurate planting with minimum disruption to surrounding established plants .. comes with two drill sizes
I used them to plant bulbs in a wildflower meadow. Certainly better than trying to plant with trowel or bulb planter!
Pleased with my purchase.
Hardwearing & fits my hammer drill Really well. You can Dig a hole in a matter of minutes. Price is very competitive.
Wanted to plant some bulbs in a grass verge that was heavily compacted and this tool attached to a corded electric drill did the job. Would have been easier if my drill had a side handle as if you hit a big stone It gives the drill a strong twist but that’s not a criticism of the auger. Did what wanted t a reasonable price
As someone who’s recently got into gardening with some heavy clay soil, this has been a great addition and makes planting a lot easier. Simply unwind the drill to the widest aperture, slot in, tighten and away you go.
One word of warning, the auger bit sinks into the soil super easily so if your drill is on a high setting, you may find it gets twisted by the drill when the bit is fully inserted. Otherwise it makes light work of the soil
Just used this auger to plant 50 native bluebell bulbs in shady part of back garden lawn and 30 daffodil bulbs in the sunny part. Works fine with my DeWalt 18v battery drill. Just throw bulbs over mown grass and drill holes to plant where they landed. Ideal tool for anyone transforming a lawn into a flower meadow. Just use on low revs with up and down motion to clear each hole for planting. No observable damage to auger after job done.
Great product for hard soil and or arthritic hands. Makes light work of planting
This is a great tool but watch out for the stones in the ground – too many flint stones in my garden.
Worth every penny!
Needed to did a couple of post holes right next to my decking and these worked fine! I went down 3 or 4″ at a time the width of the hole and removed the churned up heavy clay type soil with a small spade.
Took 40 mins to dig out two 18″ deep holes!
Well happy
Made of a strong material and perfect for making those needed holes the garden.
If you want save your time and you want one good work well done, you need by this one.
The smaller auger was perfect for removing deep rooted weed from the lawn. The largest one perfect for planting bedding plants.
Product arrived within 24 hours and looks fine, time will tell how good they are.
I haven’t had the opportunity to use the product yet. Watch this space. At first glance the augers seem strong and adequate for my needs – digging firm, dense clay soil and boring some holes for short poles.
I plants over 2000 hedging plants , still work fine and in one piece , saves loads time
The drill bits easily ploughed through hard dry ground to provide clean deep holes for metal rods I needed to insert to prop up a garden raised bed. I am sure the drill bits would be useful in many situations where digging is not practical
Save me so much doing gardening. Planting now takes only a minute! No more digging!
Never found an easier way to dig holes quickly and deeply.
A good drill is required and don’t go at it too quickly but you will soon find the best method.
Works really well even on ground thick with roots and stones. The soil it churns out is like mince, ready to be put back around bulbs, plants or just to remove for postcrete.
If you garden or need to do DIY involving post holes, you must buy this product.
For older or people who struggle to plant bulbs, the smaller auger will make it so quick and easy. Like I said, don’t push too hard quickly and you’ll soon be planting perfect bulbs in loose soil which is ideal for roots and watering.
Was fun and easy to use but would be nicer if they were longer tube but other wise good.Do remember to use your lower leg to block the drill or it will pull out of your hand if it catches on a stone or anything hard
othing detrimental about this item. Makes digging holes a pleasure
Great idea. I saw these advertised on social media. But like I always do when I see something I like which is offering you things you don’t need at a cheap price if you order it within a few hours, I always resort to looking on Amazon or other online companies. I know I will always find it cheaper. I didn’t get the 3 drills that social media was offering but then I didn’t need the extra one. My husband used the big one to plant a couple of trees and some plants. I’d have used it myself if I didnt have a bad back. But it was a lot quicker than using a spade, like he used for the other tree we bought. He just drilled and then scooped the loose soil out into a bucket. It left a neat hole without soil everywhere and wasn’t back breaking work. I’ll be using it for smaller plants. Fantastic idea.
I have used this many times and is very useful, can recommend for all sorts of gardening jobs
Makes light work of planting bulbs , sturdy & value for money.
Does what the promo vid shows. Rips through small tree roots etc too. Great job for both hard and soft ground.
What a good piece of kit.I needed to plant some bulbs.these tools made my life so much easier, just drilling a hole and drop them in.
Very useful when large number of plants or bulbs to be planted …. makes light of the job
A useful attachment for getting through hard ground, however a firm hand is required to hold onto then larger version, when it bites into the ground, as the drill itself can escape your grip and spin out of your hand.
Excellent tool for breaking up earth to make planting easy even through compacted soil which hasn’t been touched for six years
Brilliant used for the first time at the weekend drilled 8 holes and put in 8. 4inch posts made the job so much easier then just using the post ramme
We used it to plant 220 trees, could not have done it without, Perfect tool for the job, get one
Was perfect for planting 400 saplings made the job so much quicke
I’ve used this about half a dozen times and managed to bend the shaft, which fits into the drill chuck, 3 times already. If that was stronger it would be excellent.
So glad someone told me about these, I use them every time I garden now and I get so much done without becoming absolutely exhausted! Highly recommend
Very sturdy construction,works very well.
Would be nice if you could add extensions to go deeper if needed.
For what it’s designed to it works really well.
Was in 2 minds about these as they have gone up in price, but I guess everything has. tried using them couple of times and even though they made it through my horrible root invested compact soil, once I pulled the augur out the soil started to cave in on-itself so then I had to use the trow to dig out again. Annoying, I’m not an expert gardner but I’d say this was due to my soil and not the product, will try it again in 2022!
I planted 80 daffodil bulbs into a hard clay grass covered soil in under 60 mins using this tool. Working by hand last year I only managed 30 bulbs in the same time frame. The auger connects to your drill like a normal drill bit. Only thing to watch out for is soil splattering up on your drill. A great buy.
Easy to fit on my drill planted 600 tulips bulbs no problem
Makes planting a lot easier, just make a hole in goes the plant job done. Don’t need to buy another one these are very sturdy well made.
This auger makes the job so much easier, I just used my battery powered drill and got the other 300 done in about an hour and a half.
What really matters here is your soil type. Most of us have clay soils and this made it hard for my drill (not the auger) to cope with some areas. The trick was to just move the bit up and down slowly. Luckily most of my border was tilled a few months ago so even damp clay soil was easy.
Very helpful tool, saved me loads of time and back ache. Clean it off properly and use it next year!
Made edging the lawn very easy, tried without it and was struggling, bought this and it dramatically reduced the difficulty
Great tool, planted over 30 daf bulbs very quickly! Recommend to gardeners with good soil, difficult in poor soil.
spot on for individual bulb planting, tho the larger size auger doesn’t start easily
We planted 300 bulbs in just over an hours with the Auger drill connected to a good quality cordless drill, nothing more to say 🙂 I would highly recommend.
The larger auger is good for big bulbs, and the smaller one good for most smaller ones. 1300 bulbs planted much easier than with hand tools!
I over bought my garlic this year. The larger of the two has made short work of planting 154 cloves. About another 80 to go when I have more soil ready
Great bit of kit, did my daffodils on my rear garden bed in record time. Just whacked the smaller of the 2 bits into my battery powered drill and off I went. Planted all 30 bulbs in a few minutes. Soon as this biblical rain passes I’m going to get my tulips in the front garden bed along with a bunch of snowdrops. So much easier than using a dibber. Would highly recommend. Il attach a photo in spring when in full bloom.
Had 50 bulbs to plant and didn’t fancy digging 50 holes. This made the job so easy. Glad I bought the set as the bigger one is what I needed. Looks like it should last. Smaller one does look lighter so I’d be careful with that one. Up and down motion makes the soil exit the hole better and reduces risk of damage.
Not much to say it’s very easy to use tool good
Easy to use and well manufactured. Delivery was on time and I was kept up to date on its progress. I need to replace some fence posts so the auger will be well used. I intend to look at the Web site to see what else I may be interested in.
The auger is a great tool for quick planting in loose soil; however it did seem to struggle a bit to penetrate any moderately firm soil. My 18V drill had difficulties holding the bit in the chuck and required frequent re tightening. The torque is significant if the bit binds and one needs to pay close attention to operating it; as a serious sprain could easily occur. Value for money with two bits is undeniable and overall it is a very useful tool if operated within reasonable expectations. A single charge managed to complete 6 full depth holes in damp but compact soil.
If you are a gardener with horrible clay soil ie most of southern england, then these are the tool you wished you had years ago.
Makes perfect holes for planting in seconds, i highly recomend these, no more trying to dig a hole with a trowel in concrete hard soil, these breeze it.
Gonna use the small one for planting bulbs and seeds this autumn.
Bought these to make gardening and planting flowers, a tree and fence posts, they attach to your drill so makes light work of the jobs in hand, very sturdy and fantastic value for money, would definitely recommend these to people
I had to make 4 holes in the lawn to accept the legs from a greenhouse base, & these worked perfectly. My cordless drill worked, but struggled, but when I used my mains drill there was no problem.
Glad I chose this one over others that were cheaper and on had 1 drill bit. Have the 2 sizes helps when there are lots of roots or really compacted ground.
This makes planting easy, two bits for smaller and lager pots takes the guesswork out of planting, top marks
Great tool. Made easy work of digging some post holes. Only bad point is that it does tend to become loose from the drill some times (no matter how tight you make it).
Worked as expected
Four stars for sturdiness as only had them for a short time but seem fine so fa
Great tool when you have loads of bulbs to plant. Take care with the bigger drill, it can be a wrist breaker if you drill too fast!
Thought long and hard before buying these. Quite usual but excellent great piece of kit.
even if it jams in tree roots you just switch the drill to reverse and it comes out easily.
Excellent product and great idea. I was able to plant about 150 daffodil bulbs in a matter of a few minutes – very effective. Delighted.
Saves an awful lot of effort. Used with a powerful battery drill made short work of planting a load of daffodil bulbs
This arrived today and couldn’t wait to try it out. Seems strong and sturdy and It works well even in wet ground perfect for getting the bulbs planted .
Does the job: certainly easier on the hands than making holes manually. Sometimes sticks in our clay soil, but I think that’s the drill power more than the bit. Bit tricky to clean. The two sizes of drill bit are significantly different for different size bulbs.
What i like about this is the fitting works into a driver and a drill driver combined units. So if you have one or the other it will work on both. Presuming that is you have the hex attachment on the driver which I’m sure everyone does. Clearing out space for trees and posts takes seconds that did take hours
Ideal for drilling small post holes for garden trellis.
Also useful for bulb planting
