The support actually helped me when the initial rear camera didn’t worked and since then the dash cam worked fine. It is quite ok in recording quality.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGood bits: Camera is reasonable. Touch screen interface works well. Fitting is OK but if your car has LED reversing light get ready with the miltimeter and set a good few hours aside for installation.
Bad bits: The camera doesn’t have much adjustment. Fine for LHD but if your car is RHD it struggles to adjust enough right to get a full view out to the right. Secondly, the whole thing operates from your rear view mirror, the only snag being its not a very good mirror. In the daylight you just get away with it. At night it’s as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Finally, not really a negative but something to be aware of; make sure you format your SD card otherwise it won’t work in automatic mode

Well worth every penny, I originally took advice from the police and was recommended this style of camera, I’ve since bought 2 of these now and both have paid dividends after collisions, where the other party was at fault but without would have gone knock for knock. I like that they’re not obviously visible to others either who might be looking for evidence of one, and the rear camera is discreet. The camera loops and overrides what’s on the sim, unless it’s full of what it deems to be collisions, ie going over a pot hole, or suddenly braking, it’s only a two minute job to clear it all though. It also records sound, something if you’re a lone driver can be useful for safety.

The cameras are amazing really clear and useful the only downside is the rear view camera keeps falling off so maybe a few sticky stickers could be added in the pack

I read the mixed reviews, but the camera is great, I have only used the front mirror camera and not the rear view which I have not fitted yet. It is easy to use, you can view the recordings from the home screen. Night vision is OK. This is the 3rd Dash cam I have had but the first mirror one and this is by far the best quality and easiest to use. Great for the price.

Easy to install I routed the camera wire through the boot lid handle, I removed the felt from the boot lid and fed the wires behind to get access to the rear light wire to get constant power to the camera rather than to the reverse light which would only come on when reverse gear selected. I then routed the cables under the front seats, easier said than done on a bmw 530 with seats that dont fold and a fixed parcel shelf, but i did it then hid the cables under the carpets to the front. These attach to the mirror and the mirror is simply plugged into the 12v cigarette lighter. The camera is good enough, better quality front facing camera than the reverse camera. Not very good in the dark, I tend to flash my break lights to help brighten as I reverse in the dark. I have an sd card that i put in but for some reason it keeps coming up with an SD card full message so I reformat it but still randomly pops up way too often for my liking. It should auto rewrite over old data when full thats what most cameras do. I don’t know why but there are no reverse lines/guides on the camera when reversing which i would have preferred, I’ve played with all the settings but I cant find any options anywhere in the settings to turn on/off so assume this is a fault. For what I paid it does a job.

cheap and does an ok job

Works fantastic, but how long will it last Chinese quality wise.
If this lasts, the it is worthy of 3 times the price tag crystal clear vision, my version records front and back while driving and you can choose between front record, back record or both on split screen, which description doesn’t mention.
Easy to fit and set up.
    Hope it lasts.

Camera works well, easy to setup. The main issue I had is when it’s the ‘right way up’ it blocks my forward view too much so I’ve mounted it upside down – only really an issue when using the interface as it’s then the wrong way up.

This is my second Chortau product. The first one was the suction mount LCD screen type and its was a great little dash cam. The first impression with the mirror dash cam is amazing. It has many features: Night Vision, Loop Recording, G-sensor, Motion Detection, Parking Monitor. The front camera is Full HD1080P and the rear camera could have been much better in terms of video quality. I selected this model specifically because of the reverse parking option. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a decent mirror dash cam with a reasonable price.

    Excellent dash cam!

A dash cam with parking aid is a good idea, but the image doesn’t fill the mirror screen. My Ford Focus has a flimsy mirror stem which gave me a vibrating rear mirror view with the camera off. Using the rear camera, gave a darker rear view, also a multi view if head lights were close. So for my car and what I wanted I went for the window fixed device. Security with reversing help, but smaller picture.

Purchased this for christmas for hubby and now its set up its a great quality camera for the price its a bargain. Easy to use and set up. Play back is brilliant, only downfall is night vision its quite blurry due to lights like most cameras would be so you cant make out number plates in the dark but wont affect us as were day time drivers but wanted to make people aware.

Excellent piece of kit. Easy enough to set up and picture quality is fine. Only drawback, is that my rear view mirror on my Freelander 2 makes the mirror cam slightly offset because of the lens. There are some out there where you can extend the lens out but are more expensive. However, after realising as well to put picture shutdown onto a minute instead of 30 secs. camera works good enough for me without having to have sticky pads or suction pads stuck on the windscreen and is so much easier to move if buy a differ car. Have not set up rear camera up yet so no comment about that but if anything like front, I will be best pleased. Would buy again if needed

I would like to mention my surprise at the Quality of view at night, I just received the CHORTAU Mirror Dash Cam and I was super supprised to see the high quality of the images at night, (in town).
    Installation of wires was ok.
I still haven’t found where to connect the wire to the reverse light.
Reae camera is still not fixed properly.

Just finished installing both front and rear camera, where as others have installed the rear camera inside But encountered issues with parking metre lights I decided to stick without outside fitting above license plate, where as it was a little tricky getting the wire from the camera to an accessible spot in my body work installing camera wasn’t too tricky at all!
Front camera just slots nicely over the rear view camera and ticking and hiding wires away is no problem at all, I’m impressed with the wide angles and quality of the images! Already tested the playback and quality and it seems amazing especially for the price!

  32. Anonymous says:

The instructions that come with the dash cam are a bit vague (to me!) I would have liked more details of how to set some of the things up, such as recording time and loops. Had to faff about for a while to figure things out. Having said that, the product itself is well made, sturdy and fits securely to the rear view mirror. I thought maybe having a screen on the mirror would deflect from looking through to the back screen, but no, it doesn’t. Pleased we bought this particular model, and very pleased with the speed of delivery.

  33. Anonymous says:

Installation was pretty painless, but it took a while to work out how to switch off the video whilst driving.

I mounted the rear camera behind the number plate so as not to leave any visible holes if I had to remove the camera at some point. I used 3mm nutserts rather than the supplied self tapping screws and I had to buy a separate cable to hard wire the rear view mirror rather than using the 12v cigarette lighter style plug.

    Plan ahead

Bought this not expecting TOO much however was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and the picture clarity.
On the plus side it is easy to install and set up, even the rear view camera was easy to install with a little fettling. The picture quality is very good and even at nighttime it’s not bad.
Negatives would be that the wiring for the reversing camera function i.e. the lines showing parking space are not that easy to find. Each vehicle will be different however the camera will still work even without that. Also noted that if you have one of those chonky rearview mirror a you may find it difficult to set up the front facing camera to capture the entire road AND be able to see all of the back window at the same time. I think this is because there is no way to decide which side of the rearview you have the camera. A simple function to be able to invert the device would assist.
The screen itself in the mirror is quite small but it does not hinder using the mirror even when it’s on and it does have a feature to sleep after a short time anyway.
I would recommend a good size SD card but it does work very well with recording over itself automatically when disc is full.
Overall , for the price point, a good effort and perfectly usable dashcam

I found this a great solution to what I was hoping for! I was first looking at parking sensors as my car doesn’t have even those at factory but I managed to find this. I didn’t have a dashcam either so this was the best solution as it was really cheap and easy to install, definitely better than having an actual dashcam to obstruct your driver vision. I think the main thing I was worried about was how much I would actually be able to see out the rear view mirror normally but the opacity of the touchscreen display made it super easy to see out the rear windscreen. Would recommend this to anyone looking at parking sensors or dashcams! The only thing I would love to see is a better way of mounting if you want to place it inside the car as I didn’t want to damage it with the pressure washer, also the ability to adjust the parking lines.

Very happy with this product, I was a bit sceptical with the price but the price doesn’t reflect the quality of this camera. I have fitted the front and rear camera (still yet to attach to the reversing light) and there was plenty of cable to do this on my Ford Kuga, rear view mirror also fits fine over my existing mirror. The picture quality is really good and once I had figured the setting the camera works great. I had and existing SD card which was 128gb and this seems to work fine after being formatted a couple of times and it now re records over the existing videos without saying SD card full. I also have the screen saver set to 30sec so the display doesn’t stay on whilst I’m driving, it continues to stay off until I touch the screen but still records. Defo worth the price. I will update with picture Once I have attached the cable for the parking aid.

For the price I am pleasantly surprised how good this kit is. Only just fitted this today so can’t comment on longevity but first use its superb. Bought it as it was on offer and advertised as the ‘New’ version. Having read the previous reviews and questions I have noted a significant difference. The reversing camera cable I received was nowhere near 7.5m as stated in an answer above. It was nearer 4m which meant it only just went from mirror to rear number plate on a two seater car! However for me the installation went perfect and has provided me a great dash cam and a good rev cam. The touch interface works perfectly and the settings provide a range of options of which I like the multitude of views you can choose from for both cameras. Would certainly recommend this product however I would question the length of rev camera cable before you purchase.

I bought this Dash Cam for its practicality and the way it uses the rear view mirror, I’ve had other Dash Cams which simply fall off the windscreen, either the camera is to heavy or the mounting bracket to weak, this however is perfect.
Fitting the unit was a breeze with running the power cable around the edge of the interior trim.
Using and setting up the Dash Cam couldn’t be simpler, the controls are easy to follow, there’s not many options to go wrong with anyway.
All in all I’m very satisfied with this unit and would recommend it to others.

This is a good system for the price, its easy to install and the cable to the camera is a good length. I bought this for my long wheel base Mercedes Vito van and there is plenty of cable for me to install the rear camera on my rear door. The parcel arrived within the specified time. The System is very easy to use and the handy touch screen on the mirror means that you are not looking for little fiddly buttons especially in the dark. I highly recommend this item for anyone looking for that extra piece of mind when out and about on the roads.

Excellent Dash cam,I am really pleased with this dash camera. It is not obtrusive and looks built in to my car it works superb. The footage is great and the large touch screen is big enough to view footage easily. The mirror also works perfectly even when the screen is on full brightness. Just bought the new 2020 dash cam with front and rear camera, and within 1 hour have had it up and running and ready to fit permanently. The camera quality is excellent and as sharpe as most phone cameras, i just need to test the video to be able to give it 10/10, but the first signs are that this is a quality product. Well, just like to say 30 mins after fitting and having a test drive the video work perfect. The other benefit which I wasn’t aware of is, after i accidentally nudged by car, the video captured me walking away, so i guess this gives peace of mind knowing that any third party accidents will be recorded.

Quick delivery as expected. Good quality of packaging, always a good sign of a decent product. Picture quality is really good, even for the reversing camera, a 10 year old could install the main mirror / camera, wires and all, which are easily hidden behind the vehicle trim. I took the trouble of hard wiring the rear camera into the electrics for the reversing lights, already fitted reversing sensors so knew the correct cable to use, but its a real easy job anyway. This was a replacement for a 65.00 dash cam I had for a few years but the bracket on the window sucker had finally given up, picture quality is better and on a much bigger screen. All in all a pretty nifty bit of kit.

I used this product in my Peugeot 208, i brought this along with the hard-wire kit. It came out very tidy, all wires were hidden and i still had access to the cigarette socket. A beautiful looking product with a simplistic but modern design. It was fairly straight forward to install, it does require a few tools to help properly hide the wires. The image on the “mirror” is very clear and easy to look at. This is the 4.8 inch model however this was a perfect size for my hands, no need for the larger version. Would recommend for an affordable mirror/dash-cam combo. A bonus is that is comes with the reversing camera.

The product that you get for the money you pay is really worth it and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a camera that really does do it all. I bought this for my partner for Christmas for his new car without realising the work that needs to be put in for it to be set up properly. The rear camera that sits underneath the boot lip to show you the reverse camera needs to be drilled into your car to be held in place so this is not a good idea for anyone who doesn’t own the car they want to install it into. Also, in order to get the reverse camera to come on automatically when you put the car into reverse, you need to hook it up to the reverse light of your car. His car is a ford focus eco-boost and we ended up taking apart the reverse light completely. Luckily we have some car knowledge and there are really good tutorials on youtube but it did take about a day and a half to get it all done and working correctly. HOWEVER… he absolutely loves it, the reverse camera in the dark lights up really well so you can see what’s behind you, the camera is recording even when it’s off and the reverse camera in the mirror gives you guidelines for your car. For the price, it’s really a great piece of equipment but juts don’t be fooled that it will be a quick or simple setup.

The dash cam i received on balance is excellent from a price stand point.
Installation was pretty straight forward, the menu and features are pretty idiot proof and it does everything i expected it to, the touch screen is very responsive even with my clumsy fat fingers 😀
The video quality on the mirror its self looks very good and for anyone on a budget i would definitely recommend it.
The only gripe i would have with it is the ability to view recordings from it via PC, taking it out or removing the SD card to view etc is kind of a pain, quality if watched on a PC full screen is not brilliant on mine but far from bad.
A nice feature in future versions would be the ability to connect to it via WiFi to view recordings via Android/iPad apps like most action cams do, this would make this Dash cam infinitely better.
Overall for the cost of this Dash cam i think it is very good value, would i buy again? yes definitely.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe concept and presentation of this product is excellent (5*),
However, second unit (supplied under warranty) has succumbed to a similar fault as the previous one after 7months.
Certain sections of the touch screen have become unresponsive –
Unable to access settings section and, therefore, re formatting cannot be accessed along with any other action in settings. Also delete option is unresponsive. This is not a card malfunction – it is recording and storing on loop.
Reversing screen has also become erratic and does not activate on occasion. The camera lights come on – so it is live.
When it works, this is an excellent product and deserves a high rating – shame about reliability
Has anyone else experienced the failure of the touchscreen?
I have reported second failure of the replaced unit & await reply.
I look forward to (eventually) giving this product the credit it deserves.
For the record – it is fitted to a Land Rover Defender (which is ‘used’).
Third unit still working well after 8 months – a significant improvement. Interestingly this replacement seems to have a different screen appearance. Have they rectified a fault?
    Now moving to 4*

I bought this as a replacement when a previous dashcam/reversecam made by a different company, but essentially the same product, stopped working in the reverse cam part. I suspect this was due to water getting into the outside camera part on the rear number plate. The new unit was so cheap that rather than just replace the reverse camera I purchased the whole lot again. It was a breeze to fit the inside part over the mirror. This part contains the screen for playback etc and also the forward looking camera. For UK users this camera, which is on the left side and has adjustable angle, does not adjust as far as would be optimal as the unit is primarily designed for use by drivers who drive on the right hand side of the road. I tried the unit upside down to see if it would work the other way but it would not auto-rotate as a modern phone would. Anyway, as I find myself driving in Europe right now, all is fine. The reverse camera was a little more difficult to fit as it goes outside the vehicle and must be wired into the reverse lamp. This was easier for me as I had already done it once. You need to remove one of the number plate lights and feed the wire from the reverse camera through that hole rather than drilling a new hole. Then when you replace the number plate light, put one of the screws for the light fixture through the hole in the bracket attached to the reverse camera. So now the screw goes through the number plate light, then through the bracket of the camera and into its original hole in the car, thus trapping the camera bracket in place without extra screws or drilling. Now, all the six meters of wire for the camera have been pulled through the number plate light hole and is hanging down. You need to attach the red wire to the contact on the back of the reverse light so that when you put the vehicle into reverse gear and the light comes on, the picture you see on the screen changes from the forward view to the reverse view. The rest of the wire you need to somehow get it to enter the car and get to the front where you can connect it into the mirror/screen unit. you can do this by finding and existing hole somewhere convenient or drilling another hole. In my case I was fitting it into a motorhome and I needed to connect an extension cable for the reverse video to get to the screen unit. Then you try to hide the cables so they don’t appear unsightly. The screen unit has various menus where you can select different menu languages, video qualities and things like motion detection. If the unit detects a bump, such as a collision, then the video for that two or five minute segment will be locked so that it won’t be recorded over. The unit does not include the digital memory card so this needs to be bought separately.

All in all a rather good Dashcam. I fitted it to my Renault Zoe – which immediately gave me a much wider mirror field of view, so much better than the stock unit. The camera itself is superb quality, with number plates easily read. The menu system is very intuitive, it really doesn’t need a manual. The features in the menu grouped together logically. Two things that I think I’d have liked this Dash Cam to have had are (1) Automatic Tint when headlights behind. Thats a lot of mirror right there. (2) The SD card slot relocated to somewhere easier to remove the SD card when wanting to copy off, or an auxiliary USB port to plug into to download the files from. Other than that, a good buy at a good price.

  52. KattieCisneros says:

Very convenient way of mounting a dashcam. Plenty of cable provided. Be aware that the camera is on the LEFT, this is because most in countries you drive on the RIGHT – so a bit of careful adjustment is needed for UK & Irish roads. Luckily the wide angle lens gives good coverage so not a major issue but you may find a few centimeters of windscreen on the right are not in shot depending on the angle of your (now much wider) rear view mirror. Also be aware when using the “sentry mode” in a car that supports it, the unit draws 5v/700mAh when recording compared to 5v/120mAh when in standby + the loss from 12v DC to 5v DC conversion through the adapter. Depending on your car and the age of the battery, that could drain the battery to the point of not starting after only a couple of days usage, so watch out if using this feature.

Best device for your car if you are a bit worried about on street parking and also if you haven’t practiced reversing in a while.
Connecting it wasn’t easy on my swift though so had to head to the mechanic who had to drill holes to run the wire and attach it etc cos me another 80.
I like that it mounts on your rearview mirror and helps you see the road/ traffic at the back a lot better whilst also being able to get a view in the mirror as well.
Although on dark stormy rainy days the glare of the lights is a bit much and it doesn’t do much to improve visibility.
I should at some point get around to reading the manual and using it to its full potential!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat a simple system, my elderly neighbour has just bought a car and was having difficulty getting the hang of the reversing. I ordered this and was so glad I did, it acts a dash cam and a reversing camera which was a real bonus for them. Now my wife wants a reverse camera despite having sensors? and a dash cam, this little system and the menus are simple and far better quality than I would have expected. I laid it all loosely in place to start with, tested it all worked then hid the cables and that was job done, luckily my car 12v supply goes off with the ignition and the system turns on and starts recording when I start up and goes off when I take the keys out. There are also split screen views so you can watch back and front, and Picture in Picture views to do the same, and a still camera mode which would be very handy at the scene of an accident to have the footage and stills if necessary. I was worried about not having a normal clear mirror but it is excellent, you can have the camera view showing all the time your driving or, enable screensaver in the settings and (mine is set to 30 secs) once you pull off after 30 secs it reverts to a plain mirror but the camera still records in the background. There is a G sensor facility to lock any footage where a shunt has taken place so they will not be overwritten as well, What more could you want? at this price I would say grab one just for peace of mind they are superb value.

If you’re anything like me who struggles with parking, especially in tight spaces, it’s one of the reasons that put me off driving my car. I needed a backup camera to help me see behind my car, and this product can do just that. This dashcam mirror comes with a 4.8 HD touch screen, with dual camera front and rear, plus a reverse backup camera. This dashcam has helped me a lot while parking, and the video quality is crystal clear. I don’t have anything negative to say about the product, and I would like to say if you’re not mechanically minded like me and have to take it to a garage to get the dashcam fitted it will cost 100 for installing only. Overall this dashcam is the best I’ve purchased yet, and it’s a quality product for a reasonable price I love it.

I love the camera it has a slight blue tinted view out the back mirror which took a few days to get used to just as it would if you Swapped cars and mirror had a different tint. Nice and easy to set up. Field of view is excellent. When front and rear camera arc are watched together there is only a small side area with no view.
It does exactly what most people want of a cam. The rear parking view I love having never had that before. My only comment is the G sensor is a little on sensitive side even when set to lowest of 3 settings. This then turns on screen to show what it’s recording while your driving and is often set off by speedbumps or going up a steep Rd.

Overall, very happy with the rearview mirror and camera. No dramas setting up the rearview mirror as it just straps over the original, with the 12V socket easily installed and plugged in. The difficulty, however, comes from fitting the rear camera. The red wire was not long enough to reach into the reverse light originally, so extra length was soldered on, and the entire cable itself was very difficult to fit through the oem wire assembly in a 2016 fiesta. You will not be able to install this yourself properly without soldering experience, knowing how to remove your vehicles trim, and tools to do so. Luckily for me, someone that used to fit these did it for me. Haven’t used it to record yet, but it concerns me that the rearview screen remains bright when driving, I’m ending up turning it off manually when driving otherwise I cannot see backward. Hopefully, with a bit more testing it will be more of what I am looking for.

Was looking for an inexpensive dash cam and really glad I chose this one. The mirror at first sight looks a bit on the large size, but very quickly get used to it. The big advantage is that it make installation so much easier using a couple of the heavy duty rubber bands supplied with the camera and it is fixed to the existing rear view mirror. Didn’t take many minutes to run the power supply cable from the decent adaptor power supply plugged into the cigar light, easy to do if you route it behind the sunvisor and then using the brilliant little blue device supplied to tuck it under the door trim rubber and under the front passenger carpet to the centre dash, Similarly with the rear camera, just run the cable along using the existing rubber door trims to conceal it for most of the way until you get close to the final location. Finding the best position for the rear camera took a bit of experimenting but it helps if you have someone handy to move the camera whilst you watch the image display in the mirror fitting.

The menus on the camera are larger and clearer than the small dash cam on my neighbours car, and are easy to set up and follow, We have chosen the option to have “picture in picture” view showing mostly the front camera with a smaller rear cam image in top right quarter, but if & when you download the SD card to view the video on the PC it is saved in two separate folders, one for each camera. Picture quality is really good especially on the front camera. Don’t forget to remove the small scratch protector discs of plastic from the lenses of both cameras as I did to start with, improves the quality so much !!

Overall really pleased with this dash cam. Very good value for money, especially bearing in mind the rear camera supplied too, and build quality is good. Definitely recommended

Great value for money. Easy to install

fitting it was easy hold up against rear view mirror and fit the two bands, rear view camera cable could do with being a bit longer I was doing a good job of hiding it until I found it wouldn’t reach so all that good work was waisted. bring on attempt No 2 running it above the doors, then stick it on to the top of the screen, I have a galaxy so number plate to camera is a distance. that was the hard bit setting it up was a quick job, until reading the hand book a bit small for us glasses wearing blurry eyed diyers. All that said it has a good picture with the ability to have a split screen front and back and after awhile I got to grips with it and found it to be very easy. I will be getting another for the wifes ca

Great product, I only wanted a dash cam, not really interested in the rear view parking. I have a company car so I wouldn’t be able to put holes in the back to install a parking camera even if I wanted to. I purchased this one as I like the idea of having a dash cam in the form of a rear view mirror. The camera is a of good picture quality, I would have given 5 stars if the camera view was completely unobstructed, the camera lense does move, although whichever way I moved it I still see the stem that connects the vehicles original rearview mirror to the roof. It is not a huge deal as I can still see the road in front of me and can clearly see cars in front and license plate numbers which is the main purpose for purchasing. Overall good value for money and I have recommended to my sister who has also purchased one.

Loving this mirror cam, it has replaced a standalone camera I was previoulsy using. Fitting was a breeze, although I havent installed the rear cam yet. I have tested it though and all is working as it should.

The image quality on this is much, much better than I imagined it would be at this price – its ultra clear. The unit is packed with features and super easy to navigate the responsive touch screen. You can playback your recording directly on the device and even speed up playback which is a nice touch. You can have the screen on all the time whilst driving and you quickly learn to ‘look through’ the image when needing to use it as a standard mirror. With the rear cam wired up, you can have both the front and rear cams active at the same time (split screen).

I’ve seen some complaints regarding the positioning of the camera lense and it not being suitable for right hand drive (UK) vehicles. This doesn’t appear to be a problem for me; as you can see from the last image uploaded where I am pulling out of my driveway, the image is perfectly centered.

Lastly packaging is spot on as was next day delivery with Prime. All in all, really please with this.

    Excellent All Rounde

Golden Review Award: 79 From Our UsersIf your like me and have been mulling over which dash cam to buy… look no further! Genuinely blown away by value for money with this! Sure the night vision isn’t going to win any awards anytime soon but it’s clear enough you could easily catch a plate or clear footage of an incident. Easy to install the main unit, took me about 3 minutes in total (including running the power cable around my dashboard and head liner! Haven’t tackled the rear camera yet (mainly because my specific car will be awkward to do and require more time!) nextbase offer a very similar product for about 100 more… don’t waste your money, this will do you more than fine!

    Clear video and great value!

I only wanted a reverse camera, and this seemed to be the simplest way of putting one in my Citroen Berlingo.

With a lot of this sort of product I find that you can usually see 53 identical versions all marketed under slightly different names, showing that it’s simply a badged up off the shelf Chinese knock off of something. Maybe this still is, certainly it’s for sale by a LOT of sellers, but I was pleasantly surprised to see everything from the Box, to the literature and even the logo you see when turning the unit on were the same.

    Pros:
    1) Instructions were very good, no terrible translations or gibberish.
    2) Unit seems of good quality, physically
    3) It fits very well over my existing mirror, and is much larger that it too
    4) Touch screen works perfectly, although finger marks trigger my OCD!
    5) Wire lengths were enormous
    6) It’s a doddle to use, once you have learned what the few icons mean

    Cons:
    1) Once the unit is turned on and has 12v power, it will not turn itself off unless you do it manually or cut the power. As my unit is plugged into a permanently on 12v socket, it is always on, which drains the battery, unless I turn if off
    2) If I turn it off, then when I use the parking monitor which is supposed to sense movement when the car is not in use and then briefly turn on, record a minute of video and turn it off again what essentially happens is that I turn it off, merely shutting the door triggers the movement sensor, which turns it on, and then *because it’s connected to 12v permanently* it doesn’t ever turn itself off! As such, I have to disable this feature, which is a shame, or it would drain my battery quickly like leaving lights on does
    3) Even if I turn it off and don’t use the parking monitor, the 12v power adapter has a bright red light that is always on. This reduced my car battery from 12.1v to 11.8v overnight when I tested it. I wouldn’t want to leave the car for more than a couple of days without having to unplug it, which is a pain as the socket is in a roof glove box in the back of the car
    4) The front camera rotates and swivels to help you center the recording, but it won’t quite swivel far enough to the right to point centrally
    5) As the cables plug in at the top, and by mirror is already quite high on the windscreen, it’s pretty hard to get a position where normal rear mirror is a good angle, without affecting the front camera as they touch the roof. As it is, to get a full rear view, the front camera is pointing slightly left of center and capturing a lot of the “windscreen sun dots” that are at the top of many windscreens. This is as much to do with my car as the unit, so not criticism but worth bearing in mind – maybe a future model could recess the cable connections a little

Overall, I was more pleased than I thought I would be for the price. I’m yet to use the reversing auto camera as I haven’t ran that cable yet, but I look forward to doing to as that would mean I never have to touch the screen and get finger prints on it, but I’m happily using it manually until I do that.

I’d give it 5 stars if the 12v adapter didn’t have a bright light, and if the parking monitor would still turn the unit off even if it’s connected to power – i.e. if *I* turn it on, leave it on, if it’s turned itself on, it should turn itself off too

I found for the Uk the camera is on the wrong side of the mirror so my passenger sun shade would catch the mirror. Also ( and I think its my make of car) the plugs would catch the roof lining so I just couldnt get it quite set up for the camera. However the camera mirror can be turned upside down and the screen inverts itself. ( Not the boot screen). I couldnt get the Rear camera to work due to a faulty socket but eventually It was all sorted and all replaced, thanks to Lea.
The service was excellent even though it took some time to sort.

First off, overall I am happy with this product as a whole.
There is a BUT. I have just installed the rear view camera part of this system & discovered that the photos on the advert are misleading.
On the photo of the image that comes up when reverse gear is engaged it shows some guide lines in green, amber & red.
In real life these do not exist.

As I said before I am about 75% happy with this product but a bit miffed that a misleading image has been used.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent all round product, relatively easy to use. It’s really quite inventive to replace your cars internal rear-view mirror (clips over the top of existing mirror by using 2 supplied rubber straps) with one that has a built in camera, the screen ‘dissapears’ after a short time, returning to appear as a regular mirror.
Only real negative is that the camera lens is to the far left of the replacement mirror, therefore the camera is NOT in the centre of your screen.
    That’s why I rated it 4 & not 5 stars.
    Hope this helps

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe thing I liked about this product was its price point and the fact it was easy for self install. It simply fits over your existing rear view mirror. The display is unobtrusive and you can still see perfectly adequately traffic behind you when it is on.

The picture quality is surprisingly good and very comparable to more expensive models. The menu system is also easy to use. I had to set the volume to low as it is really quite loud especially when it starts up. It comes with a cigarette lighter power cable but I want to permanently fit it powered so have ordered a simple kit from ebay which will allow me to do this. I have tested the playback quality and it seems just fine.

The only thing that would have been the cherry on the top would have been if the other camera supplied was a rear view camera on permanently rather than just a reversing camera but that is a lot to ask for a 40 piece of kit and I did know this before buying it. If you are looking to get a dashcam but are worried about spending loads of money then I have no problem in recommending this product.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this particular dash cam back in October and have been using it ever since.
Only now that I have been constantly using this camera have I decided to leave fair and honest review.
It was fairly easy to install in my 2015 Hyundai i10 and fitted the rear mirror well with the supplied rubber straps (four of which were included in the box).
Seeing as my car is a RHD and the camera is positioned on the left hand side of my rear mirror it was actually better because if the actual camera lens was positioned on the right on my existing rear mirror my sun visor would constantly hit it every time I flipped it down.
Seeing as I rarely have passengers in my car using their sun visor which does hit the dash cam mirror, it’s not a problem for me.
Being a RHD car with the dash cam lens on the left, some of the reviewers said that the camera didn’t show the road in front properly.
This wasn’t an issue for me at all. If anything it showed the same amount of road on either side just as well as my old camera did which was positioned right in the middle of my windscreen.
The lens at the front is directional so you just have to push the camera lens over to the right.
Ok, the quality of the front camera is pretty good but I wouldn’t say excellent. I could pick out number plates quite easily and could clearly see what was going on. Not top notch quality but you get what you pay for.
The night time image was a bit grainy but I could still see clearly enough even when played back on my laptop.
I have the rear camera positioned inside my car which I managed to wedge on top of the front camera to film inside the cabin. I have no idea if it works well for reversing outside or behind the car as I haven’t wired it up to my reversing light.
The rear camera quality is only 480p and it shows. I figured it would be good enough for filming inside the cabin which it is. I didn’t trust putting the rear camera outside the car as the weather would eventually render it completely useless overtime.
I bought a SanDisk 32gb SD card and it works well. I turned off all the motion and Gsensor setting but they did work well when I first tried them. The internal battery never seems to charge fully if at all so i have given up on it. Not much good if you need it to record when engine is off.
I set mine for 1 minute recordings and 30 seconds delay for screen turn off. If you want to turn the display off sooner just hit the button underneath the camera. Simples
The settings are easy to navigate and the touch screen works very well.
Playback on the screen is clear and easy to see which is good. You can lock any footage easily and download it later to view on a pc…easy peasy.
Overall I love this dash cam. It works well and captures all of the bad driving from myself and other road users very well.
Since leaving this review last year i have recently bought another one of these dashcams which is currently in use in my new car (Hyundai i10 2019 model).
My previous review still stands as i’m still very happy with my purchase

Great dash cam for a cheap price 😊😊😊

This is a good piece of kit for the price. The item feels good quality, and the picture is very good. As previously said, the size of the camera does obstruct the passenger side visor, and so can move if the visor is used without thinking. One issue I did come across is that the card when full does not appear to overwrite. I have to format the card to start again. I have tried all settings, but the same thing happens regardless. The rear camera is not as good as the dashcam, so have decided not to use. All in all, this is a good camera, and in my opinion, you get a bit more than you pay for in regard to quality.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersThere’s two main reasons why I write reviews, either it’s terribly bad or remarkably good.

I acknowledge that others have written excellent reviews for reasons influenced by the free gift (16 GB Micro SD card) but I must be honest, I’ve written this review after testing out the product with a newly bought 32 GB micro SD card aiming to reduce reporter bias.

My main objectives for a dash cam were:
    1. Opportunity to use video evidence in the event of an accident
    2. Low maintenance recording so it loops when recording on a memory card
    3. Relatively hidden from sight
    4. Fixed I.e, not needed to be removed once fitted

I bought this dash cam for my mother after reading the details and reviews posted by others. I already had a dash cam in my car which to be honest is many years old. I had paid around 300 for it and it’s a very reputable brand. This one was almost 10% of what I paid so wasn’t expecting too much from it when it arrived.
The product arrived promptly and packaged very well (see pics already posted by others). Installation was straight forward including tunnelling the cables around the car. I installed the rear facing camera inside the vehicle, top centre of the rear windscreen (instead of above the number plate). The reversing camera function kicks in if the red cable is attached to the reverse light cluster. After following the Haynes guide, I noticed that the Haynes was incorrect and that the red cable should be on pin 5 (as opposed to 4) on a Citroen C3.

The 32 GB micro SD card was formatted in the unit and setup easily completed. The unit itself has a small internal battery which is used to complete recordings when the ignition is off and records if motion is detected whilst the car is parked. Excellent function as my expensive dash cam couldn’t do this unless connected using a power magic unit and installed directly from the battery terminals.
The camera lens can be moved to centralise the image. Pulling down the passenger’s sun visor doesn’t impact on the dash cam on the C3.
Daytime and nighttime recording was assessed. Unremarkable quality with date/time stamp. The rear camera functions very well and when reversing, four LED lights activate on the rear camera unit. As I’ve installed it inside the vehicle, the lights are causing interference with the image quality due to the reflection. This is entirely understandable as the camera is designed to be outside above the number plate.

So in essence, when I compare it to my expensive dash cam … it has HD video recording, a rear camera, reversing aid activated automatically when connected to the reverse light cluster, touch screen, internal battery for parking mode recording, loop recording and relatively fixed to the rear view mirror.

For the price I paid, this dash cam has more than surprised me… it’s better than my 300 dash cam and the only niggle I can think of is the absence of a GPS receiver which would allow the dash cam to map the journey and speed of the vehicle. Needless to say, all my objectives have been met and for the price I paid, I definitely would recommend this dash cam to anyone who drives on our roads where scammers try to defraud the insurance companies…

This is a fantastic dash cam kit. I was very much surprised when I got it, as I wasn’t expecting much at this price..
The 4.3-inch touch screen is great feature as you don’t have to find small buttons around dash cam to use it.
The front camera quality is excellent but the rear one is decent but it works. The length of the wires provided is also sufficient as I installed it in my Audi a6.

The picture quality is excellent both during the day and night and the sound quality is good too
Good value for the money. very happy for the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersI have had a number of dashcams in the past but this is by far the best. Why?
It records both front and rear in HD.
It has a good quality and size screen (4.5inch), touch screen makes it easy to control and see it is operating.
easy to change viewing of camera i.e. to RV for reversing.
sreensaver blanks so can be used as normal rearview mirror. touch and it back on screen.
The parking mode should stop those who hit you when parked and drive away or vandilise your car.
The rear camera was easy to fit about 1 hour.
I was worried that it might be too large or heavy (one other was 1KG!) but although larger than normal mirror it doesn’t obstruct the visors from being used.
The angle for RH drive is fine with good wide angle. my only minor critism is it could do with taking larger cards (max 32GB) but with cycle recording it does overwrite non protected files.
I have showed to friends including my Police Officer neighbour who I captured someone hitting her car! all were impressed at it!
Overall, excellent product and great vaule for money. I have no reservation in recommending this to you.

My rear view mirror needed replacing so I thought I’d go for one of these dashcams instead. I’ll cut straight to the pros/cons:
    PROS:
Just insert a micro SD card, connect power lead (cigarette lighter/USB supplied), hook it onto the mirror (rubber loops supplied), and you’re good to go.
It’ll automatically start and stop (if you have the power via an accessory socket).
The touch screen user interface is very simple.
It’ll record audio, which can be turned off.
A 32GB card will store about 2 hours.
The rear view camera produces a good image and is complete with a mounting bracket. Also included is the ability to auto switch to rear view when you select reverse. This is by means of the reversing light (I’ve not tested this feature).
    CONS:
The camera is on the left hand side of the mirror. This gives a slight passenger viewpoint rather than driver.
The camera is adjustable and it just about has enough travel. If you sit nearer the wheel, then then mirror angle will be greater and the camera may not be able to be positioned correctly.
1080P (if it really is) is only just about good enough to read number plates when they are close to you. Motorway signs flash past but are readable when you pause the video on playback.
The camera allows you to take a 14MPixel still image. 14MP it is NOT. A 1920×1080 image looks better than the 14MP one! The resolution is selectable.
Obviously the mirror tilt to reduce glaring rear headlights does not work anymore. And if you have a more sophisticated auto dimming of the rear view mirror, then you’ll lose that feature.

    Overall:
It’s good, and a complete package. I’d recommend it.

The mirror dash cam seems like very good quality and looks very smart when fitted.

The user interface is okay, not the most sophisticated but does the job.

The anti glare glass is decent but when you use the touch screen, the fingerprints left can make the mirror a bit blurry at times.

You can’t adjust the brightness of the screen. Due to this, I have to turn the screen off to view the mirror.

The recording can only be on loop for five mins at a time.

    Installation is very easy

For the price it’s an amazing bit of kit and would buy another at this price

This dash cam mirror has replaced a very old and no longer functional traditional dash cam which sticks to my car windscreen. It is far better because of the design and functionality. Also it doesn’t fall off like the old did in the hot summer of freezing winter!

I’ve been using it for almost a month now. In summary, I found it easy to fit, both the front and rear cameras in my Honda Civic mk 8 (2007). The front camera goes in very easily around the existing mirror and the cable can be hidden without difficulty. It’s great having a plastic tool to push it under the trim.

The rear camera took more effort, however, the cable still fitted well under the trim and I had plenty of spare cable left. I have been able to screw the rear camera into the inside back window of my boot and it works well. Of course with any dew, frost or condensation the camera inside can be affected, however, it’s better than putting it outside (in my opinion).

I did need to solder the red cable to my reverse cable after stripping off the wire’s insulation coming from the rear light bulb. It works perfectly. I even found out from the AA Recovery service in the UK that older cars reverse lights are easier to work. They have a constant voltage of about 12 volts. But with newer cars they may send a ‘pulse’ down the reverse light cable so it’s work checking the current is about 12 volts before attempting it using a volt metre.

After driving for a few weeks I did notice the dash cam would turn on during driving and appear to not record (the red recording light was white only). Often it would later start recording again but it didn’t give me much confidence at first. I later saw a number of errors such as “memory card full”, “sdhc error”, “format card” etc. I’m using a SanDisk 32GB 100mbps which has been formatted as the default settings on my Windows 10 laptop. This problem did continue to occur which was frustrating.

However, after emailing the company, Chortau, I heard from Amanda who sent me a zip file to fix the problem. Instructions were:

    1) Copy the extracted zip file contents to the SD card (it’s a .bin file)
    2) Insert this into the dash cam whilst off
    3) Turn on
    4) Ensure external power is connected too and turned on
    5) The dash cam updated its firmware (original version dated August 2018) – progress shown and took only a minute to complete
    6) The dash cam powers off
    7) Unplug the dash cam
    8) Remove and format the SD card
    9) Reinsert the SD card to the dash cam
    10) GOOD NEWS, the new October 2018 version of the firmware fixed the problem!

No more errors and continuous recording as it should do. Thanks Amanda! Because of this after sales customer service I believe the product is worth 5 stars! Not many companies offer this so it definitely makes it stand out from the rest.

    ********** December 2018 Update **********

I have since noticed that the original problem reoccurred (memory card errors, no looping or recordings, etc). I swapped my Micro SD San Disk 100mbps 32GB with another of the same card I had used in an Asus tablet. Guess what? The same make, size and speed and this memory card worked perfectly with no problem. Been like it for several weeks now! So I can only conclude it was the memory card all along! Maybe it would be fine on the old firmware? Who knows!

PS The original memory card that caused problems works fine in my tablet!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFrom placing the order i received regular updates on process, to despatch with tracking numbers and arrived exactly as promised.
Upon opening the package, i was impressed with the quality of packaging, strong box and foam protection.
Came with everything you need. including a very well presented instruction booklet.
Fitting the device was very easy, the mirror is touch screen and self explanatory. If i can do this, anyone can.
You can still use the mirror whilst recording, which i found brilliant, and i have set mine to go off after 1 minute.
I have had this produce for 2 day now and so far love it. Worth every penny. This is my second dash cam, as i did not have confidence in the other one, this one i do. (oh, little tip, turn off the audio if you don’t want to be recorded whilst driving, its cringe worth on play backs haha)

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFirstly I should be clear I didn’t install the rear view camera, so bear that in mind.
The ease of installing the dash cam couldn’t have been any easier, the power cables provided are long enough that you can easily tuck the wires around your windscreen and still have enough to reach easily any cars power point.
Just pop in a 32gb card, plug in the power and strap to your rearview mirror and your done, I didn’t even need to read the manual, to set anything up, I found the on-screen UI that easy to follow. Which, unlike my first dash cam where it was a right pain to change the date/time, and I needed the manual to understand anything.
Lastly, the ability to click the power button (not hold down which does power it off) which turns off the display but keeps recording, leaves you with a rearview mirror where you hardly notice the screen (to be fair even with it on you can still see behind you, but why leave it on all the time)

This is my second dashcam. This mirror mounted one is very easy to install by running the wires from the cigar lighter socket, under the dash cloth and up the edge of the window inside the trim. The unit itself is held onto the mirror with a couple of rubber bands. The rear camera wire was routed under the head cloth, with the camera mounted using rare-earth magnets just inside the window – 15 mins tops (no reversing light connection made). The unit gives a good image, front and back, with an intuitive easy to navigate menu. My car does not shutoff power to the cigar lighter socket when the ignition is switched off, so it is necessary to manually remove power when leaving the car. I have tried the parking and G-sensor, but so far they seem to be quite sensitive and fill the SD card with locked video clips, I need to try reducing the sensitivity to see if that works better.
I am now considering a second one for another car in the family !

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersEverything you need to install this Mirror Dash Cam and rear view camera is supplied in the box including a tool for hiding the wires behind trim etc and cable clips with sticky pads. The Mirror Dash Cam is very quick and easy to install: it just fits over the existing rear view mirror using two stretchy rubber bands (four were supplied so I have two spares). The rear view camera took a little more thought and time. The instructions say to fit it on the exterior of the car just above the rear number plate. I could not see how I could route the cable from this camera to the Mirror Dash cam without drilling holes in the car body which I did not want to do. I was only interested in using the rear view camera to record what is going on behind the car while I am driving and I was not really interested in using the parking mode. As a result, I installed the rear view camera inside the car giving a view out of the rear window. This has worked well. My only criticism of this product is that the cable from the rear view camera to the Mirror Dash Cam is a bit short if you have a big car. Mine is a VW Passat estate and the cable was just about long enough. I could have done with another 30cm or so to be able to tuck all of the cable away out of site.
I am very impressed with the picture quality of recordings made with both cameras including at night using the night vision mode. The device is so easy of use via the touchscreen menu. The device allows you to see what the cameras are recording on the rear view mirror: options are front camera, rear camera (useful for reversing), front camera with rear camera inset, rear camera with front camera inset and split screen front and rear camera views. A touch of the power button hides the camera views and you can then use the rear view mirror as a normal mirror.
I have no hesitation in awarding this product 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersI’m very impressed, I have bought a lot of dash cameras over the last few years for myself and family, some complicated, some not and some with other sorts of fancy features. I have to say the use case for anyone I know needs to be plug and play and that is exactly what you get with this setup. It just works. No silly features, just useful ones that are easy to setup and operate and main thing what I like it most is that I could leave in place and basically forget about it. The kit contains everything you need in the box to get going.
if you want to poke the wires behind your headlining and trim, use an old credit card or spludger.
The main unit itself is well finished and importantly, quite light. The unit itself requires a micro SD card to record the video or still images, so buy one to the manufacturers recommendations, you tend to need a reasonable speed card for dash-cam use and this is not one application where you want to skimp as they record continuously over the card for many cycles and you do not want to discover data loss if you have an accident.
Fitting the camera is easy with the attached rubber mounts, these just lash around your rear view mirror and clip to the camera, its an obvious and simple approach. waterproof rear camera providing a rear view and the parking guide to help the drivers secure parking.
The interface is super simple, modes really only vary from video record, still record and playback. There is an option to capture or mute sound during recordings.
All in all a nice little setup. I have to say for the price is a realy good piece of kit. Highly recommend.
