I loved how clear the slides appeared. 3 different magnification heads, easy to adjust for fine tuning. Bought for at home to look closely at everyday things like, sugar, sand etc. Bought for a curious parent and teenage son. Fascinating. Very pleased with this microscope

The microscope itself is sturdy and provides a clear view of slides. However, it arrived in a tatty ripped open cardboard box , the microscope secured only by polystyrene packaging. This is a gift , the packaging is not suitable to give as a gift, nor is the polystyrene. I now have to source a box for storage and making it presentable. There are no instructions or leaflets included whatsoever , I have however managed to download some instructions for use and print them off. There are a few slides included in a small box. I have purchased a larger selection, and the Dorling Kindersley Microscope book which is comprehensive with the right pitch for a first time user. For a few pounds more I really would have liked this to have come in some sort of box, it really would enhance the product and provide a means of storage .

    Easy to use

This is my first ever microscope and it is awesome. Yesterday I examined a yeast solution of yeast and sugar mixed with water. I was able to see the yeast cells which are so tiny, but I was able to make out the green colouration within the cells.

    Very useful.

For under 50 quid this was great value. It came with batteries and UK mains adaptor + a few slides in a small box. Well built mainly metal and probably glass lenses and not toy like . A pity the soft plastic cover is quite flimsy, however very hard to fault this product at the price.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI use this to take body and fill scrapes from my Koi to check for parasites. 1000x room is plenty, considering most fish parasites are visible at about 200x magnification.

For 50, can’t go wrong. Well made, sturdy, easy to use and does the job. It comes with two interchangeable lenses at 10x and 25x magnification and three fixed lenses at 4x 10x and 40x. Ideally, it should’ve come with a few more interchangeable lenses to find a more accurate magnification, as you essentially have 40x 100x 100x 250x 400x and 1000x.

If like me, you need a microscope for your Koi keeping hobby or just for educational purposes; this model is good enough and great value.

Haven’t seen any parasites yet, but that’s not a fault with the microscope; just healthy fish!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhat a fantastic little dingy microscope! I’m so pleasantly surprised. I got it for very simple microscopy work as I already have a more complex lab microscope, and it’s just the loveliest little thing and has a fine focus as well as coarse, I wish the stage could be moved back and forth and side to side but that’s ok for the price.
I will be ordering one or two for my kids. Much better than those kids (toy) microscopes which cost a lot more but don’t do anything and are so fiddly!! Great purchase! And has a backlight which is cool. No instructions manual in the box though not much assembling to do anyway.

bought as a Christmas present for my 7 year old granddaughter, she is so looking forward to getting a microscope so hope she will not be disappointed. Brief look shows ease of use, and seems sturdy and well made, should last her for some time if she remains interested. I got quite excited myself looking at slides supplied with it, the price was a bargain, cheapest place for this scope we had chosen, lucky for us.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is my first microscope and I am very pleased with it. The optics is clear, microscope is well built and sturdy. Easy to use and focus. The only drawback, which might be expected for the price that it doesn’t have an eye relief. Also, the slides that come with it are great.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOttimo prodotto.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat microscope real easy to use and good build quality so I give it 5 stars, but there’s a but the photo that advertises this item is misleading as it shows the book and accessories none of which come with this item, one of the q&a says that it came with the book this is incorrect, the description of the item is correct you get 10 slides 5 are blank with cover slides and the other 5 have specimens to start you off, you also get another magnification lens batteries and a cover.
The advertised pictures also show a multicolour filter disc under the platform this is not the case it only has different size holes, as I have reading difficulties I tend to go by images rather than descriptions to get the item in picture it’s about another 40 on top.
But rant over this is still a great item.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTrying to decide on a microscope for my 13 year old was actually quite difficult! I didn’t want to get her a toy, but on the other hand the professional types are really expensive. This one was recommended on an educational website, and it’s brilliant. You get much more than you expect for the money, and the magnification is impressive. It has 2 LED lights, and is pretty sturdy. I was comparing this one to the National Geographic one (their expensive one which is normally 119 but is on sale at 69 at the moment) and magnification spec wasn’t anywhere near this one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSturdy construction (solid metal with plastic control knobs), Good optics. Great quality for the price. A good first microscope for anybody. The prepared slides included are modest but are varied and are well-made. The inclusion of a note with basic instructions would be an improvement but the operation of the device can be worked out easily enough.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is a full featured, well designed instrument for this price. I would have given it 5 stars if it included even a cheap case.

    Pros:
    Two eyepieces (10x & 25x) yielding magnifications of 40x, 100x, 250x, 400x and 1000x
    Top and bottom LED lighting
Both sources of light can be varied in brightness to improve contrast
Like most microscopes you can use a cell phone camera held up to the lens to take pictures. This is very easy to do with the 25x eyepiece since I was able to rest the camera lens right on the eyepiece to help stabilize it.
Course and Fine focus knobs are smooth and work well even at 1000x
Comes with a well made plastic cover to protect the device when not in use.

    Cons:
    Lack of a carrying case
Top lighting cannot be used with the 40x objective due to it’s length and the position of the light
Slide Holders are too tight, once loosened they worked much better

I’m including a few pictures taken with my Cell Phone to show the range of magnification and a couple of examples:
The first slides are taken using a calibration slide, each division is equal to 0.01mm. Shots are 40x & 400x
The blue slide is Onion Skin

I highly recommend this device for students or anyone that just want a good Microscope at a low price.

    Excellent Instrument for the Price

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersImpressive quality. I bought this for my soon-to-be 9 years old’s upcoming birthday. I initially bought a cheaper one (35) which turned out to be a glorified toy – possible to see things magnified but frustrating to use and limited in what you can see, all plastic.
This microscope is easier to use and the view is, in my limited experience, fantastic. It has a metal body and seems very robust.
My only criticism – and it’s not really a criticism – is that it didn’t come with many extras; just the microscope with a few slides (in a sturdy little case!) and a plastic cover. This meant I had to put together my own accessory kit in anticipation of my child wanting to make her own slides and her dad plans to make a protective case. Maybe the makers wanted to focus on presenting a quality microscope at a good price, with none of the fluff. Never mind, I was able to put together a good kit for less than 15 (sample pots, larger slide case, 72 slides, droppers, dissection kit etc). Also bought the Complete Book of the Microscope to go with it.
She hasn’t received it yet but I think she will love it.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersFor the price, this is a great microscope! I teach biology labs, and I collect water samples at home for my students to view freshwater organisms. I wanted to have a microscope at home so that I could check my water samples before lugging them all the way to work only to find out that they were low in diversity. This microscope does the job very well! It focuses at least as well as the microscopes my students use with the 10X eyepiece and the 4, 10, and 40X objective lenses. Using the 25X eyepiece and the 40X objective lens was more challenging with my organisms, but we never go beyond 400X in class, and this microscope definitely performs well up to 400X magnification.

You do want to be careful, because there isn’t a hard “stop” when the stage is brought up to the highest level, so it would be possible to keep turning the coarse focus knob and strip it. I just watch the stage and stop turning when it quits moving. I also supervise my son (age 8) when he uses the microscope to make sure he doesn’t make this mistake (or use the coarse focus with the 40X objective). Also, keep in mind that this microscope does not have a mechanical stage, so you move the slide on the stage by hand (for this low price, you would not expect a mechanical stage).

All in all, I’m very pleased with my purchase, and I highly recommend this microscope for casual use.

We live that it has both a top light and a bottom light. Fyi, at the highest resolution the lens will be almost touching the slide.
Highly recommended for the young and older scientist in your home.my kids and I are constantly looking into a world we didnt know existed before.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersThis microscope is great, Clarity is very good considering the price. You definetely get a lot more than you pay for.

    Pros:
    1. 2 LED’s, the second is an incidence light allowing you to see opaque objects. In layman terms, traditional microscopes are used for transparent samples and are lid from the bottom to the top. Opaque objects aren’t transparent so to view them you need the incidence light that is on top thus you watch reflected light off the speciment. Great for insect parts etc.
    2. Both LED’s very bright, allowing for effective brightness control.
    3. Very easy to focus, it has both a coarse and find adjustment.
    4. Extremely well built, metal construction, with handle.
    5. Power supply and batteries both supplied.
    6. Fairly certain all lenses are glass ( very good, some of the other microscopes at this price range have at least some or all lenses made of plastic.
    7. Nice set of filters for the light.
    Negatives:
    1. Very limited number of included prepared slides (5), new blank slides (5) and no bundled directions as you get with other beginner microscope for students. Keep in mind though that you can buy separately very nice kits with dozens of prepared samples and excellent books, so negative yes, but not a reason not to buy this, just remember to factor at least some extra prepared slides in your purchase, or read up on the net how to make your own ( and buy some more blank slides)
    2. No included case, or back or any way to transport this easily, a dust cover ( sort of ) is in the box, but made of very cheap plastic and it won’t last.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersBought this to check for bacteria/amoeba in water. So far I have not found any, but know that the scope works for detecting objects of that size as I’ve viewed spoiled milk (gross) and watched lactobacillus working diligently away. I’ve tested morning saliva (too many unanswered questions there) and I’ve also used it to view some blood but I’m not entirely sure if I was seeing red blood cells or just had the scope out of focus. Of course the final experiment is the ever necessary epithelial cell from cheek swab experience. Perfect intro experiment to microscope use. I also ordered an amscope slide making kit with dyes and square covers (you’re gonna need those) and a lens cleaning kit.

Great mostly metal construction, clear glass optics, and both an overhead and lower led for viewing solid or translucent objects. Overall it’s a seriously great scope for the money. Will probably purchase another dual optical model in the future.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersThis is a really nice microscope. I got it to use for doing parasite checks on my goats and it works great for that – it’s actually much more powerful than I expected. The light has a dimmer and the fine focus knob is nice. It came with a dust cover, seems sturdy and should hold up well. I didn’t think I’d use the sample slides, but they were nice to have for getting used to each level of magnification. My only complaint – I assumed a few blank slide covers would be included along with the blank slides, but they weren’t. Be sure to order some!
