Recommended by a gardener for speeding up bulb planting – it makes it effortless! The drill bit is sturdy and easily goes into soft ground enabling you to lift soil as you progress to the depth you require.

Caution should be taken if there are stones below, as you are forced to spin with the drill if you hit hard ground. If you gently progress into soil, this isn’t a problem.

Set 500 bulbs in less than 2 hours – absolutely terrific. Would recommend to anyone.

It looked reasonably well made, and I’m sure it would be useful for boring holes in un-compacted soil.
However, I bought it to fit a Brabantia ground spear for a rotary clothes line, in the middle of my lawn. I live in north Hampshire where we have topsoil interspersed with small (< 30 mm) flints. As soon as the auger reaches a flint, it stops. You then have to use a (long) heavy duty chisel to loosen the flint, remove it, then bore again. I have managed to bore a hole 38cm (15") deep, but I wouldn't ever drill another. So check your soil type.
