My experience with the zino mini se (zmse) so far has been very positive. In short:
    – it flies well,
    – is reliable and well designed
    – very good camera
    – very good software/features

I bought the zmse a couple of weeks ago and flew it several times both indoors and outdoors.

The biggest problem I faced so far has been the UK weather. Good luck finding a day without strong wind here!! But I was impressed at how stable the ZMSE (and its recorded video) was in winds of ~20 mph.

Battery life I see is about 35 minutes with a new/good battery, starting with fully charged 100% battery and landing with 10-12%.

I did not have any range/connectivity issues. A channel in the 2.4 GHz ISM band is used for comms between the controller and the drone and the default choice of channel can be manually changed in the app if desired.

The video and stills are very good even in cloudy weather, still waiting for sunny days. The pictures are jpeg, but are not harshly over-processed, which I like. I am finding it most versatile to record 4k video all the time the drone is in the air and then extract still photos from it as needed. Those stills are pretty good and you can pick the best moments from the video. I used a 64 GB microSD card and the video recording bitrate I see at 4k resolution is about 100 Mbps.

The carry case is good quality and good fit. The battery charger is very light and can take 4 batteries plugged into it, and charge them sequentially.

All in all, the zmse is a very good and reliable tool for taking aerial photos and videos and stays amazingly long in the air on a single battery. I want to take care not to damage it and am hoping to be able to use it for a long time to come.

To start with, if like me you are not an expert flying drones, I would suggest to first fly it at low altitude over a lawn until you get used to the flight controls and software. That way if it falls it is less likely to get damaged.

In terms of negatives, I did not have any major issue with the zmse so far, but there are a couple of things that would make the zmse an even more compelling choice:
    – better availability of affordable spare parts
    – 60fps support on lower resolution (2k and 1920×1080) video

Before the zino mini se I had a DJI Phantom 3 that I bought in 2017.

I guess the competition for the Hubsan is not the likes of my Phantom 3 but the DJI mini/se, unfortunately I did not have one of these to play with to be able to say in depth how that compare.

What I can say is I got annoyed with DJI because the battery on my Phantom 3 died after I did not use it for a period of time. It turns out these DJI batteries are temperamental and if they discharge ‘too much’ their ‘intelligent controller’ decides they are broken, even if they could be recharged, and you have no choice but to throw away what is likely still a perfectly good battery.

Flies great and has long battery life

Really love this drone, far better than my dji mavic mini, loads of features and easy to use. .my only moan would be that one of the batteries doesn’t fit in properly and I’m worried it may fall out in flight. See pics. Apart from that it’s great.

The drone is amazing for the price. It compares to much higher costing drones. The drone is very stable in the air, and has a very decent range. The drone is tiny at under 249g which allows to fly in more places legally.

The camera quality is also great, the day shots are crisp and professional, and the 4k video is smooth.

Whilst this drone does not have obstacle avoidance, I feel it is not necessary in a drone of this size. And because of this, the battery life lasts much longer than the pro model.

Once everything is set up, the app is very easy to use and even allows the drone to have features such as follow me, which I find works well enough for a drone of this size.

All in all I am happy with what hubsan have produced here. The drone packs in a tonne of features at a good price.

A very good drone for the price

In July last year, my Hubsan Zino Min SE flew off into the distance of its own accord. I don’t know why it did so, but I was very disappointed at the time. Yesterday (nine months later), the drone was returned to me, having been found in a quarry two miles away. Not only was the video still on the memory card, the drone still works! It survived a particularly rainy Welsh winter and temperatures down to -13 C. Even the battery recharged to full capacity without a hitch.

    What a piece of ....

Great prompt service and arrived well packaged.
Everything in the box to get started drone flying, though set up is a little tricky and Youtube can come in helpful along with the small manual.
My concern was more about the App HUBSAN 2 being able to update firmware and set up on my Android mobile phone. I needn’t have worried as the whole process was pretty straightforward and worked fast.
Only flown once so far and very pleased, its a great drone, steady in hover and very pleased with the company who sold it on Amazon.
Would highly recommend this drone for price, product and function.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFirst of all I must admit to being a fan of hubsan products I have used them for many years that being said this in no way affects my review on a product if its bad I will say so.

This sub 250gram drone packs so much inside of it that even bigger drones struggle too it gives me 4k video with 30fps and a great 3x optical zoom and it gives me around 30 minutes flight time in good weather conditions.

I always fly within line of sight but cannot see any problems with signal loss or fpv drop.

All in all this is a great little drone with lots to offer beginners or long time flyers.
