Used these shears already a few times for garden plants. Very light but cut like a knife through butte

Good shears – only been used once so far but made an easy task of cutting a laurel hedge only down side as other reviews said they did stick a bit but have been cleaned and oiled before putting away so hopefully that will solve the issue

I am a stickler for cutting my hedgerow and tend to use my electric hedge trimmer and then finish off with the shears, my old shears finally packed in after years of use, so I decided to treat myself with a decent pair, after a bit of shopping around I came across the Kimura garden shears, I liked the look of them, the price and read a few reviews. I have to say that I am extremely pleased with them, its at that time of year when the hedge is still sprouting a bit on the top, so with new shears in hand, I tried them out verdict. brilliant! Would highly recommend.

I used these shears as soon as they arrived and was absolutely stunned at how easy they made job of trimming my hedges/bushes. I have been using a rechargeable trimmer but these are far quicker and easier. Would definitely recommend and in fact have already

Brought for my wife who is a fanatical gardener. She has had problems with shears as she is quite small and the far side of 70 years of age. She is delighted with these shears. They are lightweight and easy to use. The cutting edges are very sharp and trim back quite thick hedging with ease. Thoroughly recommended.

Very solid construction, took a few minutes to get used to as they are so sharp. I was so used to having to put some effort into trimming hedges with my old pair I was definitely over doing it with these. They are so sharp you barely need do more than be a balance point for them.

    Well worth the money.

Well balanced, straightforward design executed with good quality Japanese steel.
Having given up on trying to find a decent pair of well known branded shears,(and returning one of them), these are exactly what I was looking for. Properly hardened and very sharp blades don’t just cut, they slice.
Used on everything from grass to very tough Pyracantha hedge with no problems at all

These hand shears are a good weight, easy to use and with a sharp, clean cut. There is a ‘notch’ below the cutting edges for larger branches which the shears do not cut through, which is very useful. I would recommend this garden tool. Delivery was also fast.

If you prefer not to use a powered hedge trimmer then these shears will handle the task well. I used them to trim a tough hawthorn hedge and was impressed by how sharp and effective they were. A privet hedge put up less of a struggle!

I bought the ‘Pro’ Garden Shears for use on evergreen bushes in a garden neglected for two years. I also needed a chain saw, hedge trimmer and secateurs, so a big job.
These geared shears are the best I could find and are very well made.
So far they have only seen light use and they work well. They will probably cut thicker twigs than other shears.

They get the job done but I found if you try and cut down with them they become unattached as you can see from one of the other reviews.
Once you get used to working with them and find ways around it they do a good job 🙂

After initially purchasing what turned out to be one of a faulty batch of Kimura shears, I was absolutely delighted to receive a brand new and complimentary replacement set by return.
Having used the shears on many occasions I have found that they are both incredibly sharp and extremely well designed and balanced for virtually all trimming requirements in the garden.
I would highly recommend these shears and the company to my fellow gardeners.

Well made Shears that are easy to use and sharp. I recommend a small amount of oil to keep them working smoothly. This should allow them to give many years of good service. I would certainly buy again as the quality verses price is well balanced.

I saw these shears were on offer so I took a chance and bought the long handled shears as well as the regular length garden shears. I am a professional gardener and usually purchase Japanese tools as I find them to be the best in terms of quality. These shears have so far been very good at cutting a variety of shrubs, boxwood topiary, lavender, privet hedge and had no trouble cutting through even the thicker wooden parts of the plants. I would recommend these to other gardeners as an slightly more affordable alternative to Okatsune or Tobisho shears.

  42. MariaFreedman says:

I’m very pleased with the shears – I’ve been using a Spear and Jackson pair for years but I’m finding these much better. I initially tried them out on my overgrown allotment and they whizzed through thick long grass with no trouble at all. Since then I’ve done a bit of hedge trimming and they work well for that too. The notch is a new idea to me and came in handy for the occasional stubborn twig. The blades are more pointed than on my old pair which felt odd at first but it turns out they make clipping awkward corners a lot easier. Replacing old tools tends to be disappointing, as new products are rarely manufactured to the previous standards, but this is a rare case of something actually turning out to be an improvement on what I owned before.

I really like using these shears. They are lightweight which is great for when I have to cut at head height. But at the same time they’re strong. I think the ratchet action really helps. They are sharp and made light easy work of a large bay bush that got out of control. It looks like they’ll last a long time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these for my mum as a gift and she is thrilled with them. Not only do they look very smart but their efficacy is second to none. She told me how trimming felt enjoyable and far less of a chore with these because the blades went through stems/branches like a hot knife through butter. (jasmine, honeysuckle and a bay tree on this occasion). I think once one has tried Japanese tools there’s no going back! A wonderful discovery.

Kimura Pro Garden Shears, Premium Hedge Shears with Lightweight Aluminium Handles, Sharp Japanese SK5 Blades,

We ordered these on here and they were delivered the next day. Through no fault of the seller, the shears were faulty, and after reporting them a new pair was delivered the next day.
The seller runs a small family business in the South of the U.K. and is well worth dealing with. Also included with the replacement was a handwritten apology (you will never get that from the larger dealers).
The shears are definitely the best that I have ever used and are so light my partner who has arthritis in both her hands can use them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was looking for some quality shears to use for cutting a large patch of grass which I’d left to go to seed in the wild part of my garden and these did the job perfectly. They are light enough that I didn’t end up with arm ache and very sharp to glide easily through the grass. Looking forward to using them on some bushes next. Have been cleaning and wiping with oil after each use to get the best out of them and expect they will last for years to come. Recommended.

Really pleased with the appearance of this appliance, and also for the prompt delivery. I am looking forward to using this but unlike the rest of the UK the northern islands are not enjoying a heat wave, or anything like so I have not yet had the opportunity to use them as I don’t get many opportunities to get out to do so.

These were very sharp and not heavy.
I would advise the wearing of gloves with these, at least until you get used to the balance of them. I made great work of my hedge with these for ten minutes. Wish I’d listened to my own advice. Fours hours in A&E later, and ring finger stitched fully back on, I had time to think about the above advice. Wear gloves.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was initially searching for some okatsune shears which I saw an american guy use online. They were very pricey and well out of my budget, but I saw these kimura shears which were also made in japan and looked very similar.

I’ve used them to clear some heavy shrub but also for shaping boxwoods and I’m blown away by the quality — the handles are so light and comfortable and the blades are without a doubt the sharpest I’ve seen on any shears. I would definitely advise making sure kids and pets are inside when using these.

I clean them after using them and apply a light layer of olive oil which helps the blades cut smoothly.

Would highly recommend especially at the price of 40 which was a steal.

Excellent shears - lightweight and dangerously sharp

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWas frustrated with the current pair of shears I bought 2 weeks ago so I decided to give these a go. Very happy with them so far — I cut some yew bushes and boxwoods and they cut very easy and seem to maintain their sharpness too. I do wish they had extendable handles which would be ideal for reaching further, however, overall I am very pleased with these shears.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter years of buying cheap and flimsy garden shears from supermarkets that didn’t even last a season, I thought I’d spend a little bit more money and purchase a higher quality tool and I’m very happy I did so. The Kimura shears are slightly heavier than the cheaper stuff I’ve used before, but there’s a reason why – it’s built to be far more solid and durable. The cutting action is consistently smooth, and the blades are also quite sharp and cut through shrub and hedges like butter. However, for thicker branches I advise using the notch on the blades which helps a great deal. Apart from how they cut, they also feel comfortable to hold which makes longer gardening sessions easier.

Definitely think they will be with me for many years to come (fingers crossed).

    They cut like butte

  77. FaustoMasters says:

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI needed some hedge shears that would ideally last a lot longer than previous shears I have used. The kimura shears are lightweight and sharp with a build quality that is surprisingly very sturdy. They do a great job and are very smooth to operate with the unique mechanism they have. They perform well on shaping tasks but the long blades and notch also help with more intensive jobs like clearing overgrown shrubs.
