Very heavy bike lock
This bike lock will definitely keep your bike safe but it’s incredibly heavy and I can’t attach it to my bike. I have to carry it in my rucksack which isn’t ideal
Heavy duty and heavy to carry...
This lock almost weighs more than my bike and is probably overkill for the average pushbike, but it does make you feel more secure and the sheer heft is going to work as a deterrent against most opportunistic thieving. In truth a determined thief might get past any lock but with this beast they’ll probably do as much damage to the bike trying it that they give up. Something this sturdy is equally heavy so carrying it around might be a chore but it comes with a extender strap that allows you to wear it around your waist while cycling, simple idea but it’s cleverly done and it works well.
You also get a couple of straps for securing it to your bike frame, these need to be (un)fastened each time so they’re not a speedy solution but they work fine too, assuming there’s room in your frame for the lock. When the lock is open it flexes enough to wrap around your bike frame but it isn’t all that flexible, it’s got an action more like a hinged loop rather than a loose chain so getting it around larger items isn’t going to be easy. A lamp post probably isn’t going to work.
My only complaint is that the mesh-like woven outer layer is going to trap dirt and grease and then leave a tidemark around your clothes if you then wear it around your waist. The braided mesh looks amazing, I got the Boa Green version, and you can see the mechanics inside peeking through but it’s not the most practical finish. That aside I’ve never encountered such a solidly made or secure-feeling bike lock and it looks really cool too.
The missing piece in my bike security
Gold security rated lock, I believe it is suitable for my ebike in combination with other locks; it is just big enough for me to secure the bottom down tube of the bike (which holds the battery) to a bike post.
The locking mechanism is sturdy and has a cover to protect from the elements. It is heavy, but not unreasonable. Especially, for an ebike suitable gold lock.
It does not coil well as suggested, it is a very stiff oval shape. The provided wearing equipment is very uncomfortable, as it digs into your stomach. I will be using a backpack to transport this, and using separate locks (2X Altor Apex Ti) to secure the wheels, and a small/ light weight abus chain to secure the saddle to the frame.
Happy with the product, recommend it, but the wearable part needs work for comfort.
Great lock for a motorbike, too heavy for a pushbike
Really sturdy lump of a lock, and you’d be fairly sure that a thief would look for an easier target. It is very heavy, however, and I’d only use it for my pushbike if I were leaving it somewhere I could keep the lock, like a bikeshed at work.
This is a heavy beast of a lock. Due to its weight, it is not one to take on a sportive, more to keep your bike secure outside your home or for short city hops where bike security is questionable without such a lock.
Having had a bike stolen after having (with hindsight) a fairly flimsy lock, I now look for bike locks that meet approved standards. It has the same Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold standard, just like the Kryptonite this Litelok Flex lock is about as solid and secure as they come, athough it comes at a price (both cost and weight).
The “aerospace hardened steel” with an outer polymer mesh is solid, and a little flexible. Yes it can be made into a smaller loop, but it is fairly spring loaded so it will need to be tied up. It comes with an elasticated wearable kit strap, to wear around your waist, which at 1.7Kg is a fair weight. Too heavy for touring or day trips out, but if you are just nipping around town and require something very secure, then this would work well.
It comes with 3 keys, 2 adjustable “Core mounts” to fix to your bike frame and 2 adjustable straps to help wrap the core lock into a smaller loop. The length of the lock is ok for locking just one bike to a close railing, but it isn’t always possible to get the bike frame close enough to lock you bike this way, and certainly not long enough to lock front/back wheels to the frame – more than 1 lock required!
Overall, impressive, sturdy, very difficult to break into, but for me, too heavy and not ideal for locking more than 1 bike at a time.
This is a fantastic lock! Bicycles these days are not cheap and having thieves steal them can be costly to have them repaired or replaced. This lock will fully have your mind at rest with the quality and security it offers. This is a heavy duty lock that really will prevent thieves from perhaps even attempting to steal your bike!
This might seem expensive, however it is much cheaper than replacing your bike, so in my opinion it is worth every penny. It is nice looking, flexible and easy to attach to a multitude of places which means your bike will always be safe.

Strength where you need i
A seriously tough lock that will save you the cost of a replacement bike. Seriously tough means seriously heavy, at 1.7kg, but there is no practical way to avoid that. Easy to use and looks great.
Strong bike lock but big and cumbersome
This bike lock is big enough to wrap around the frame and a wheel or a static object like a bike rack. The lock is good and is tamper proof. It comes with two keys. The keyhole has a sliding cover to protect it against the weather.
The main body of the lock is made up of multiple cables to make it harder to cut and is wrapped in a nylon cover.
It comes with two plastic mounts with velcro straps so you can attach it to your bike frame. It also comes with a strap that fits into the lock so you can wear it as a belt.
The lock is heavy and quite cumbersome as it doesn’t fold down to a compact size which can be a downside.
Now with bicycles becoming ever more expensive and E-bikes becoming commonplace, a high-quality lock is an essential part of the kit that’s well worth investing in.
This Litelok “Core Flex” high-security lock is just that and might just be the difference between your bike being there on your return and not. It’s incredibly well made and just as well thought out with its simple, no-fuss design and functionality.
It’s Gold rated and insurance rated/approved and genuinely feels like a premium product from the get-go. It’s not particularly lightweight at 1.7kg but don’t let that put you off as it’s well balanced and can be worn around the waist where the weight feels negligible and doesn’t bother me on rides though there are also fittings to be able to mount it the frame if required. I use the Litelok in conjunction with a security cable so I can ensure both wheels are secure which works well though I would advise using another shackle lock for added protection when leaving the bike unattended for long periods when commuting and locking up for the working day etc. As you can see in my short clumsy video and photo, I have the Litelok on my Ebike though I don’t lock that outside for any longer than popping into the local supermarket for a few minutes for obvious reasons, I trust the lock to give me enough time to go about my business safe in the knowledge that my bike will still be there when I return to it. I tend to use it more when commuting on the road bike and I couldn’t be happier with its overall performance so far.
In summary, I understand it’s a considered purchase, but it’s well worth the investment when weighed up against the cost of the bike you have and what it would cost to replace it if the worst happens. For me, it’s a no-brainer and I highly recommend this premium lock.

I have the older version of this lock, the Litelok One, and this one is a significant upgrade over that lock. It is Gold secure rather than Silver, and feels a much more substantial lock. Note however that the actual lock is not compatible – you can’t use the ‘Core’ lock to extend a ‘One’ lock, presumably as the lock mechanisim has been upgraded. It’s noticable that the ‘core’ buckle has two rivets compared to one on the ‘one’
The lock comes pre-bent in a ‘C’ shape, (unlike the One which is a straight ribbon) which can make getting it through your spokes a bit tricky. You’ll get the knack to twist it through, but it tends to catch as you feed it and it would have been better if the ‘flat’ of the lock aligned with the ‘flat’ of the lock itself. If you have a bike with extra spokes like a tandem, you might struggle to get it through at all though. Once you’re through the wheel however, this pre-bent shape can make life easier as you can feed it around whatever you’re locking it to go bring the catch to the front. No need to lean over some grubby fence to reach the lock, or getting tangled up with someone else’s bike on the other side. The lock doesn’t require a key to close it, just clip it together and it locks. The plastic coated part protects your paintwork, but the lock itself is heavy metal with some sharpish edges that can knock chunks off your paint if you’re not careful, but no different to a d-lock in this respect.
It’s supplied with various reflective straps and clips for carrying the lock, but no instructions on how to use them. There is a QR code on the packaging to take your to an online manual, but at time of writing this takes you to a completely different product, so I’m a bit stumped on how these are supposed to work. Similarly, there is a elasticated buckle thing to allow you to carry it around your waist with not much clue on how to set this up, although I got it working in the end from the photos. I’m sure the manual will be available in time, but regardless of that it’s not very intuitive on how to carry this thing so you will need the instructions. It will curl up a little bit to cram it into panniers or a saddle bag, but feels ‘spring loaded’ and will pop out if you’re not careful. That said, the preformed shape does make it much easier to carry than the long ribbon of my other ‘One’ lock.
The bright yellow of the lock is nice and visible if you have this around your waist, although I feel not including reflective elements missed a trick. It’s very comfortable to wear, and the elastic buckle means it will fit even if you’re wearing bulky clothes. It sits on your hips very well and you won’t notice you’re wearing it after a short while. It weights 1.7Kg, but you won’t notice it as the weight is distributed evenly. It’s certainly lighter than a d-lock of comparable security. Being able to carry it around the waist is surprisingly useful – if you’re on a bike with no carrying capacity it’s much easier than having to carry a bag just to put a lock into.
It’s very easy to undo this lock, the key inserts smoothly and requires a 180 turn to release. Some D-locks are very fiddly to get the key properly aligned, but this is easy. There is a sliding door over the lock too to keep the rain out.
This is a ‘gold secure’ lock, so you’ve a good chance of your bike being there when you return. No lock is 100% thief proof, but it only needs to be more difficult to steal than the bike next to it! The unusual design is also a plus in that bike thieves are familiar with breaking d-locks, and may not want the learning experience of trying to break a different design.
It’s an expensive lock, but all the decent ones are. Cheap locks are always false economy, but expensive locks are not always worth the extra. This one is. It feels very solid and substantial, it’s easy to carry, it’s easy to use and it even looks good. Very pleased.
This bike lock is a beast!
It is a very solid bicycle lock, massively constructed in all areas. It is so strongly made that it is not very flexible in itself, but it is however quite easy to fit around the wheel and frame despite this.
Being of a ‘Gold’ standard, it should satisfy many insurance companies. To obtain the ‘Gold’ standard, the whole thing needs to withstand determined attack for 5 minutes ‘with a sophisticated array of tools’. While these types of locks are not 100% secure, they might deter many thieves.
The cable part is covered in a nylon type braid that looks to be hardwearing yet will prevent scratching your pride and joy, while the locking part is for the most part shrouded in tough plastic. You get 3 keys , along with several straps for helping with storage on a bike or even wearing it.
For me, the only negative is that this kit is heavy. The blurb says (and it actually is) 1.7kg, but somehow it feels heavier. Of course, something this strong is not going to be made of a piece of 1/4” wire, so I understand it has to be this heavy to achieve it’s goal.
It is pricey. But then again, it might stop your very expensive bike being stolen with all the grief and hassle that would involve.

Very serious padlock
LITELOK CORE Flex – High Security padlock.
Very solid padlock. Very solid build .very sturdy solid secure padlock very heavy and sturdy. Comes with velco straps for securing to the bike frame and also a belt strap for attaching around the waist. Very good product. Very well made . Good quality strong product. Comes with two sets of keys . Arrived nicely packaged.
This is a silver rated lock, so while not really intended as a ‘you can’t steal this’ level of security it is certainly good enough for anything up that. It’s a very interesting design, and very flexible in how you can use it.
Transporting it is the tricky part. You can wear it comfortably around your waist, and there is a clever spacer on the locking part that allows you to click it closed without actually locking it around your middle. It’s not tight and I could pull it down over my legs if I needed to, but it feels secure and won’t fall off. It’s fairly heavy, but surprisingly unnoticeable carrying it this way, and very handy if you don’t have a bag. The lock is supplied with a couple of velcro straps so you can carry the lock in the main triangle of your frame, but it doesn’t fit in my small frame. The lock doesn’t roll up or fold like you might imagine, so putting it in a bag or a rack is not very practical.
In use, it’s really good. It’s long enough to get around things like trees or street lamps that traditional d-locks can reach, and there’s plenty of space to get your front wheel in the lock as well.
The lock clicks closed without the key (three supplied) and it’s easy and smooth to unlock. Be prepared for spring back though, and the heavy ‘buckle’ can threaten paintwork. There’s a cover to the keyhole to keep weather out. The ribbon shape makes is quite easy to thread through spokes and around your fixed object too.
I really like this lock. It’s imaginative and practical and easy to use. I wouldn’t trust it in a high-risk area (nor any silver rated lock) but for day to day use in safe neighbourhoods its ideal.
'Heavy' duty security to gold standard
This really is the definition of heavy duty -weighing nearly two bags of sugar there is quite a bit of extra weight here if that bothers you. However, this lock is designed to gold standard, is wearable (or you can attach it to the frame/ in a rucksack whilst cycling) and is really heavy duty being both strong and well made. An excellent lock, with the bonus of peace of mind.

Very pleased with my Litelok. This lock feels, looks and is awesome. The lock itself is well made. It feels robust so will hopefully last a long time. Although a bit pricey if it does last then it is a good investment to protect an expensive bike. Yes, it’s a little heavy but there’s simply no way to have a lock and chain this secure without some weight. You don’t notice it when you’re wearing it. This is an excellent product and would highly recommend.
Tough, strong and durable - Recommended
Anyone who has had their cycle stolen knows what a terrible experience this is.
One option is to rely on cycle insurance, but they require a cycle is locked with a compliant lock. Sold Secure Standard is a grading mechanism for cycle locks. For expensive cycles, insurance companies expect locks to be graded “Gold” by Sold Secure standard. The Litelok Core is a compliant lock and graded “Gold”
They describe this lock is lightweight. However, to me this is a heavy cycle lock at 1.7Kg, however, it is lighter than many other Gold graded cycle locks. My current, Gold cycle lock is 2.4Kg. The Likelok is lighter.
This is a heavy-duty bike lock, it is well made and durable. It isn’t easy to ply.

From personal experience I know that a cheap bike lock will not prevent your bike from being stolen. Thieves just walk up with heavy duty bolt cutters and in under a minute they are riding away on your bike. Gold standard lock.
Firstly the price, yes this is expensive there is no getting around that, if I was a sales man I’d call it reassuringly expensive, but I’m not so I will say you do get what you pay for with this lock.
It is gold standard, which if you insure your bike and it’s a decent bike worth a few quid the insurance company will normally demand this level of lock.
What gold standard means is that it has been tested and it has been found that it can withstand a focused attack from a seasoned thief for at least five minutes, as it’s been found that after five minutes that chancer thief normally moves on to someone else’s bike, however, the determined “I’ve been watching your bike and have a buyer for it already “kind of thief will probably have come prepared with a grinder and bolt cutters and this lock will certainly slow them down but it won’t stop them.
The lock is heavy, strong and has been well thought out, it has a cover to stop knocks and scratches on your bike frame, it has three keys ( one to use, one for your bunch of spare keys and one for when every set has been lost).
It comes with fittings so you can wear this as a kind of belt or across your torso, or can put it on your bike frame, great if you don’t take a large rucksack.
Weight wise it is around the same as my old kryptonite gold standard D lock, which is also around this price point.
What this lock has over my kryptonite lock is that it can be worn, is flexible and easier to weave through the frame and on to the street furniture. Both locks would benefit from cables to ensure the wheels don’t get pinched and the frame left.
I have no problem leaving this in the rain, it makes no difference at all to the lock.
I have a pretty good bike, it’s a few years old now but Ive looked after it and it’s still in pretty good condition and desirable to thieves – I have no issue using this lock on it, even in thieving hot spots like outside my gym.
If nothing else there will always someone who has made the mistake of going cheap with their lock and that bike will be the first target every time.
If you want the lock to be seen, go for the neon green, if you’re more low key the black casing is more subtle.
I already have the industry standard locks for my bike. But this one is a beast. I like it a lot. It’s flexible and easy to use. Perfect.
