Brought this as my partner is receiving hormone treatment and he is experiencing hot sweats great size fits on a little unit so can be directed at him height wise noise level is good for use at night, it has a night mode that switches off after a certain amount of time, although we cover the LCD as it does shine, but doesn’t bother me as I’m normally out for the count! Great good value for money and comes with 4 ice packs, has a remote so you can adjust in bed, all in all a great buy.

    Great produc

Excellent product good value for money, but one problem is the switch for the fan speed. When on speed number 2 it blows as if on speed number 3 and number 3 blows as if on number 2, someone mixed up the connection but other then that I would buy another.

    UPDATE
So, after a week of use, we have had a mixed experience. Some days we’ve found the air cooling works better than on other days. When it was at its hottest, we had to keep changing the ice packs every hour (2 in the top, 1 in the bottom), but it still didn’t make a difference and we were getting hotter. It also became wearisome to have to keep taking the entire unit to the sink to empty out the small water tank.
Finally, we began to notice the icepacks expanding to such an extent that the packs were concaving with the bulk of ice. This happened to 3 of the 4 packs, despite the fact that we did not fill them beyond the “max” line (we filled it just below that). We became concerned that they might ‘crack’ open, so had to take them out of the freezer.

As we’ve had more cons than pros, we’ve decided to return the unit and just continue to make do with our Dyson and cool pads.

    ORIGINAL POST

After much research and reading of reviews we opted for this air cooler. Many thanks to the reviewers who posted about the water tank plug which comes in the instruction bag. I remembered this and we plugged the tank before filling with water.

We ordered the model that comes with 4 ice boxes – these arrive empty and in case you’re wondering about the powder inside, DON’T THROW AWAY – it’s a gel that keeps he ice boxes from defrosting too quickly. The picture shows you the machine on a towel – it is in use for the first time so we popped it on a towel in case of any leakage but there was none. Yes, you will get a plasticky smell when you first turn it on – that’s to be expected when it’s new. We expect this will fade out within a day or so of use. It’s currently in use on one of the hottest days; the room temp is currently 27 deg C but the air coming from the fan just using water at its highest speed, is cooling. We’re sitting about 2 ft away and can feel it so it works. Feeling much cooler now!

Cons: at the highest setting there is a clear noise, but turn up your TV and you’ll be fine.

Also, don’t be fooled into thinking this is an aircon unit because it’s not and if you bought it thinking that it is then I’m afraid you’re in for a disappointment!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI generally love this product but the accompanying manual does not contain any assembly instructions. This usually would not make any difference but the water tank has a separate plug which needs to be fitted; the manual does not even mention this so when I attempted to pour water into the tank, the water immediately came out on the floor.

I was glad to have in the heatwave of 40+ (c). It is good enough to cool you down but don’t expect the aircon effect. I used it at night and it helped to fall asleep. It is overpriced, and it smells really bad of cheap plastic. weeks later the room still smells toxic when using it. The quality of the plastic mould is cheap, and the top trim pops off when handling the unit.

let’s see how long it lasts.

Plenty of airflow, used to cool a bedroom, plenty of ice packs to fit in the water circuit bringing the temperature of the breeze much further down large water capacity means it keeps chilling long into the hot, sticky night.smaller size ones available would need topping up during the night.
Screw on wheels a good feature downstairs/in the office but I’ve left them off as ours sits securely on top of a waist high cupboard,it’s air dropping over the bed but not blowing intrusively.just right.

I definitely don’t like the empty plung and the fact the water level is at front and you fill at back
Remember to put rubber plung in which is in remote package
Other wise a decent bit of kit for price
    Remember it’s a cooler.

    Impressive 👍

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks well as a Dan but even with chilled water and ice packs it doesn’t get as cold as I thought it would. It could do with the water tank being insulated to keep the water and ice pack colder for longer.
Also it is quite Moises unless you leav it on the low setting . Any more than that you either can’t hear the tv or it keeps you awake at night.

Strongly recommended this product. It does cool the air and makes a difference to the room. Turn on the cool button and max fan speed. Add cold water, the colder the water the better. It sucks room warm air and dries out the water filter. This is how it works. A fraction of the electricity used compared with the air conditioner.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought 2 air conditioning units for my office at around 300 over the last three years and each one has broken very quickly. With little re-dress from the manufacturers I’m reluctant to go that route again, so I thought I’d try these. It’s not air conditioning, but it is enough to make a warm room more comfortable if they are pointing directly at you. So they do not cool the room, but they can cool you. I use ice packs and water, although I’m not sure the ice packs make much difference, it’s the water that seems to make the difference. But I still use the ice packs! Remember to empty the water from the reservoir if you’re not using it. The noise is OK not too loud but not quiet. They are very light, easy to store and very easy to use. Very little can go wrong with them as they are very basic, but I think that’s what makes them a good product. At the price it’s a good backup at least if you have a very warm room. I bought two for this reason and am very happy with them both.

Worth the money, easy to use, light and easy to store.

I also fill up a bottle of water and leave it in the fridge ready to fill up the cooler with. Difficult to empty the water but perhaps I am doing it wrong! I would recommend this product and would consider buying another one.

Aircon units can be insanely expensive, this was so highly rated yet so cheap I thought that it was worth the risk. I wasn’t disappointed. With the water tank filled it is genuinely cooling and noticeably better than a fan. Add ice or use the cooler block and it’s better still.

Tbh it’s not good for other than a small room, or better still just for a couple of people directly in the breeze. We didn’t notice much effect having left it in a closed room for half an hour. It is light and mobile, though a little consideration in the design to allow it to be moved with water in it would have been good. All in all well worth the money.

Impressed with this product. It’s very cooling when directly on you but not great for cooling a whole room. The oscillating function is also not great but much better than a traditional fan and overall I’d say value for money at under 100.

I used Portable Air Cooler to help cool my living room area down, whilst not drying out the air (I am a chronic asthmatic and suffer immensely during the summer months, because of the combination of heat and dry air). This cooler has been a great aid for me, with cooler fresh air feeling and the moisture it puts back into the air preventing me from getting a dry mouth or a tightness in my chest. The added luxury of the remote control is what makes it the perfect addition to my home. There is however 1 minor issue with the cooler, on the back of the water tank on my cooler there is no minimum or maximum marks to let me know where to pour the water up to. I had to make my own marks to prevent me from overfilling the water tank when it needed topping up. Apart from that I would and have already recommended it to my family and friends.

It does not dry the air out whilst cooling down the room. (very important to me).

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersOur bedrooms get very hot in the summer and we wanted a cooling solution, cheaper and more eco friendly than an air con unit. This is perfect. Easy to set up and simple to use. Up and running in less than 10 minutes. Run it on the highest setting for about 15 minutes to cool the room down and then change to the lowest setting to maintain a comfortable temperature. In a medium sized bedroom this works really well. A good buy.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersSurprisingly effective fan/air cooler. Acceptably quiet and effective even when used as basic fan. OK, it’s not full a/c but adding water and freezer blocks does lower the temperature a little. The oscillation function works well ensuring you get a good spread of air. Light and easy to move around (with care if it has water in it) and not too bad looking. All in all, for the price I would rate it as a good buy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis air cooler is perfect for making even a large room more comfortable on higher temperature days, we’re yet to see how well it works in the highs of summer but will soon see this weekend as it’s due to hit the 30’s

Easy to use, we already had more ice bricks but if you don’t I suggest getting another 2 so you can swap them out when needed.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersIt was smaller than I thought but it does the job well! I have brought extra ice blocks from a local store so I can change the ice blocks without waiting for it to freeze up as I received just the two.
I live in a bedroom flat and it cools the room down well. It blows cold air and doesn’t blow ‘recycled’ warm air like a normal fan tends to do. I am pleased with this product and I highly recommend it if you need a room to be cooler. It’s great in the bedroom during the night.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI’ve read a few negative reviews from people who were clearly expecting an air conditioning unit for 70 quid. Morons. This little machine has managed to take the edge off our current heatwave and give a decent blast of directed cool air to a limited area (ie where you’re sitting) If you want a split aircon unit then spend 800 (providing you have the tools and know how to install it yourself. If not you can double that price). Put plenty of ice in the tray, don’t let the water evaporate and this unit will serve you well. It won’t cool an entire room, nor will it make you tea or do any other unreasonable task that it’s not designed to do. It’s not very noisy and I think it’s a good little buy. Recommend. Only 3 stars for the remote as we’ve never used i

    Worth the money spent.

Creates a nice breeze even without the cool option enabled the cooling option. Some people have said it is a bit loud, which yeah it does get a bit loud when the fan speed is turned up and the cooling option is enabled – which just seems obvious and expected to me.

There are different modes for the fan also which has a good option for on a night ( bursts of air is the best way to describe it)

I think this would help to cool down a room for sure.

Will test on a hotter day and update if needed

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersConsidering I paid around 60-70 for this Air-Cooler I think it does a reasonable job. Its not an air-con unit, so you cant expect an air-con effect. Fill the tray with the ice block and some cold water and it will produce a cool breeze for about 30 mins; after that its just like a fan. Useful in a small room (my loft room is 14″ x 12″) if you just want to cool it down before bed or something. If you want an air-con unit you’re going to have to shell out 300 for one.

Strangely, it doesn’t turn off when you press ‘power-off’. I have to turn it of by the mains.
