Great for garden parties
Great for setting off features with very wide spectrum of colours.
Great addition to my lighting setup
Given current electricity prices, I spent 20+ hours researching dimming floodlights as a cheap alternative to my three 300W traditional incandescent PAR56 light bulbs. My criteria:
– Must work with Google home
– Must emit a decent coloured 2700K white light
– Be at least as bright as traditional 200W bulb
All my research led me to RGBW bulbs which contain both RGB (colour) and W (White) LEDs. This one does not. The only decent option was the older version of this floodlight which was actually more expensive. In the end, took the plunge and bought this newer version.
I have been using these for almost 2 months. Here are my findings.
Pros
– Cheap.
– Perfect for small indoor setting (see photos).
– Works very well with Smart Life app, where you get full control of colours.
– Versatility of use with routines. When I tell Google I am watching TV, half my lights turn off, these floodlights turn red and dim to 10%. When I tell Google I have finished watching TV, the floodlight colours change to 2700K, increase back up to 100%, TV turns off, and all my other lights switch on.
– I was concerned at first that when the power is cut from the mains and restored, the floodlight switches on. Great if these are connected to a wall switch, not so great if permanently plugged in to the mains and you switch them on and off via google or your phone, because if a temporary power cut occurs in your home, these will switch on. Luckily, Smart Life offers the option to control the power on behaviour and you can set it to “Do Not Disturb” requiring “2 consecutive switches to turn on the light”. This has no impact on Google commands, but ensures the floodlights do not switch on after a power cut.
– Do not flicker at all when taking photos or video (i.e. the LED drivers are good quality).
Cons
– Would have loved them to be slightly brighter (see comparison photo where I have one floodlight on 100% alongside my 300W PAR theatre light).
– Antenna does not fold. This is problematic when trying to fit in tight areas (such as behind my TV). Luckily you can easily unscrew the antenna housing which results in a perfectly rectangular floodlight with a bit of wire hanging – just make sure you cover the antenna cable with electrical tape as in theory one can get a bad electrical discharge if touched.
– Requires a fair amount of setup to get them working just how you like. For example, Google Home only has limited preset colours (no colour dial) and some of the presets are terribly off balance (colour “incandescent” is practically pink, “ivory” is not pale, but light blue, etc.). The workaround is to set your favourite colours using Smart Life app and create a scene (which will use the colour you set), then switch over to Google home and create a routine which triggers the scene (that it detects from Smart Life). This is the only way to get Google to use the colours I want. Long-winded, but it works.
– A pure 2700K is difficult to achieve. I’ve attached the closest setting to 2700K (photo with the colour dial). Once set, I’ve created a scene for this warm white, and then created a routine in Google Home triggered by the words “tell the Royals to behave” which will reset the lights to the 2700K that I like.
– The party mode (lights changing with music) is a nice idea but doesn’t work well as it relies on you having smart life app running and listening to your phone’s microphone.
Summary
Great LED floodlights, great price, fun to setup with google home if you have a couple of hours to spare, would highly recommend.
Not as bright as expected.
Well made lights, easy to connect through Tuya Smart life app, not as bright as I would have hoped for, so a bit disappointed with that, also there’s no option in the app for White ?? Just colours, but using the app to select yellow/orange and saturation to 70% = warm white , 0% saturation = cool white.
If you ask Alexa for white they go a blueish white,
Good for uplighting or lighting a small area I guess , but don’t expect them to fully light up even a small garden.
Superb light, very bright, easy to set up with Smart Life, excellent WiFi range
Superb lights, very bright for a 25w light, easy to set up with Smart Life, excellent WiFi range, easily change the colour and brightness with Alexa App, Alexa routines mean they can be connected to Ring security cameras and come on with motion detection, definitely recommended.
Perfect for the job
Hi I wanted some smart floodlights to use with a motion sensor or without, I opted to put a motion sensor on and they work great , I can tilt them easy enough where they are and they remember the last settings used, they are very bright so I’ve turned them down, they are easy to set up the smart life app seems to find them easier than other items I have.
Get “smart life app”
Once you’ve got “smart life” app. Your phone becomes a remote control that can be used from anywhere. Including brightness and colour change. Only had them for a few weeks but have been really pleased with them up to now.
Brilliant Lights
These lights are brilliant, better than a more well known brand as the power cables are not all linked to 1 cable. Sounds an odd thing to say but if like me you want to use proper conduit an junction boxes round your garden fence you can with these as all are powered individually.
Not sure why they use moulded plugs though as you are not likely to have an outdoor socket rigged up for every light in the garden.
App lets the lights dow
If the app had more features I would have given 5 stars
Good lights for garden party
Husband happy with these for a garden party, with music sensors
Far superior than most RGB garden lights
These would not add to my Wi-Fi. changed from 5gHz to 2.4 and hey presto all added within minutes.
The app could do with a little refinement as the power button is very small.
Overall the fact I have now bought 12 says it all.
Love these lights! They really wash the front!
Very simple setup and a great app to set up times to come on. And they are very bright. In my opinion, a bargain for the price. I had bought two originally, and have just purchased four more.
Fabulous Flood Ligh
Quality feel and very easy to set up. Very pleased with my purchase!
Very impressive lights.
I like the fact that it connects to the smart life app easily.
The mains lead isn’t long enough .
If I was designing these lights, I wouldn’t have a moulded plug at the end of which is primary 1m of cable. If I had to have a moulded plug at the end then 2 m of cable would have been better.. or a connection IP water-resistant where you can extend the cable
Excelle
Really like these waiting for them to go down in price to buy another 4
Simple to set up.
I have 5 of these in my garden and they provide a really nice subtle lighting effect. If i need them like the usual white light, they are incredibly bright. Really easy to set up. Have stayed connected to the wifi reliably. Can’t fault them.
Brillia
Absolutely fantastic. Needed daughter-in-law to do the app etc as I am computer illiterate. Results are stunning. Possibly going for another 4.
Smart lights in all meanings of the word!
Such fun with these lights! Feel really good quality and solidly made. Easy to connect to WiFi- though, remember, you may have to un-sync your dual band WiFi temporarily, as only work on 2.4ghz band. Obviously need a power supply in garden to plug into…Then, voila! So easy to turn the lights off and on via the ‘smart life’ App. Can change colours; set timers; affect scenes with changing colours; all from the phone! Thought would be fun to play with when grandchildren come round… but who needs kids, these things are fun for adults too!
Great ligh
You will very likely have to cut and join the pretty short prewired cable it comes with, but that’s not exactly a big job.
Great light, Alexa integration, what more could you ask for.
This light is so easy to integrate into the smart life app, it’s easy to set up and once working it brightens up the whole of the garden. It’s got different modes to change the colour, you can set different moods and can adjust the brightness of the light. It’s not too bulky and looks stylish when it’s attached to the wall. The only downside is it does have a short cable, approx a meter, we had to really think where could put it because of this. But other than that it’s a fantastic light and that’s why iv kept it at 5 stars
Summary
Well designed and functions superbly.
Set up
Smart is the right word! I was astonished how easy this was to set up out of the box. Took all of around one minute to finish connecting it to the Smart Home App. The functions are very similar to conventional smart bulbs in that you can set it to react to music (uses the mic within your phone / tablet). The unit looks good and also works well.
Brightness
The lamp is exceptionally bright but with full controllability through the App or through Alexa (Google home not tried). I was very impressed also when the unit hadn’t been used for a couple of weeks, but within seconds it was connected to WIFI and ready to go after plugging it into the mains.
Possibilities
I would like to buy a buy a few of these and install them around the outside of the house as you can group them all together and control them in one command through a smart speaker – it is very easy to do on the Apps.
I found it complicated to set up the app and WiFi for this device to work but then again technology and I often have days of disagreement ! Once working the light was very easy to control using the app but it can’t be controlled any other way. There are lots of options for brightness and colour scheme so very versatile. Planning to use for christmas display to illuminate side of house.
These flood lights nice design with an antenna for WiFi network enhancement, stable connection, working distance is up to 25m, which is 2.5 times longer than that without an antenna this is great. It’s waterproof and provides quality of 16 million colours in the durable fixture.Application is able to control all functions (turn on/off, select colours, adjust brightness, set schedule, set sunrise and sunset, group control, select/DIY scenes and many more. It’s compatible with Android & iOS.I’ll highly recommend this product to anyone for this great price.
Really good light, no white but the “pulse to music” is a great novelty feature.
The light is bright enough for my average sized garden
Cable is very short (about 1m) and set up could be tricky if you are used to changing router settings etc
This smart light was super easy to set up. I have loads of lights in the smart life app and I find setting them up through the app a breeze. Then once all connected Alexa automatically connects as well as that’s set up in the app. You are then ready to go and control the lamp through your phone or smart speaker. It works very well and I love that I can control the garden light easily wherever I may be. The lamp is quite bright and you can set it to any array of colours, this is great for parties where you may want different colours or even if your into astronomy and want a red light in the garden so it doesn’t ruin your vision, this is perfect for that.
Overall I’m very impressed with this light, we have had loads of rainy days and there’s no problems with water getting in at all as I’ve found with a few other lamps.
This is bright and well made, I’m not sure why people are saying it’s not wall-mountable as I have it on my wall without issue, I’ve also been using the Smart Life app for some months now and this is just like all my other smart life compatible stuff was easy to add and use just like any other light, construction is fine and all in all it’s been problem-free, a full 5 stars from me, granted the antenna looks a little strange but I value function over form and this has a good signal.
This flood light is pretty neat, and at 25W, I found it was a good brightness, definitely enough to completely light up the cellar which I’m planning on using it.
Visually, there’s a stubby wifi antenna, which annoying cannot be retracted as far as I could tell. Other thing I noticed is it really should be wall mounted, yet no screws are provided
Pros
– 25W is a decent brightness
– Can Use Smartlife App, making it accessible like many other devices all using this same app
– Can be Alexa voice controlled
– Colour changing
Cons
– Power cable is short at only around 1m
– stubby Wifi antenna
– No wall mounting screws provided.
At 30 it’s not cheap, but this is one of the 1st flood lights I’ve seen which has built-in Smartlife App integratio
I have a few of these led lamp as i love a well lit setting. The others i have are set into a socket with a smart plug. This new upgrade of adding voice assistance to the actual lamp is so clever. I now just created a family in the app and can voice activate one for all. The range of colour options is endless. The only con would be since they have had to install an antenna the height adjustment when installing can appear like there is a gap or something missing. Other than that its great.Good product.Follow me on here daily reviews and/or answering questions on the products reviewed
We already have an entire smart home including light switches plug sockets doorbell locks and heating thermostats. Exist in technology is on the tuya ecosystem do used by a lot of companies so you don’t need individual applications and you can control them all from the same place. This small floodlight was really easy to add and then control within the main smart life application. You can do advanced automation so it can come on different colours depending on the temperature et cetera and some really clever stuff if you know how to use the advanced programming features available on Tuya. It’s brightness from the unit it really does do an impressive job and will light up a backyard space we have got it set up in our barbecue hut/bar area and it’s really nice being able to change the colour. A lot of these smart devices it will only work on a 2.4 G wireless network.
The front glass seal seems really good and the casing is definitely weatherproof although we have elected to keep ours did the roof of the outside hut to ensure it will survive for a number of years although I am sure he is correctly fitted by an appropriate electrician it would also be fine outside completely exposed. As always they shouldn’t be installed by anyone without the relevant competence to do it.
Easy to set up to use with Alexa
This literally took no time to set up to use with Alexa. I wanted this to light up my front door as it’s on the side of the house and is quite dark, this is perfect for that, lit up the whole doorway but for a wall it wouldn’t light up the whole thing. Nice choice in colours and not too bulky to be in the way . A good price for the job it does.
This floodlight looks smarter than some others I have seen and does just blend in with the garden. It is relatively easy to set up. If you really don’t care about the ‘smart’ aspects of this light I would certainly suggest a normal basic light so you aren’t having to worry about all the different functions. My aunt is using this light as her garden is very dark because it is long and there are trees along each side of it. The light does do a great job of illuminating the space. She did like the fact that you can change the brightness of the light etc. She didn’t have any issue with the WiFi connection but the light is very near to the house.
This colourful outdoor light is well presented and comes with instructions that are easy to follow. Execution that. Once out of the box the light is easier to set up than I had expected in use this lightbulb unit is very bright for my needs, using on garden decking at a community centre. Once set up the light can be dimmed down with manyncolour possibilities and programs that can be edited. Got the unit to work via Alexa. Yes it’s more expensive than infra red or Bluetooth, but easier to control. Of course need to make sure Wi-fi reaches the garden area.
