Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought a previous model several years ago, which is still going strong and used daily in my kitchen. I was expecting this one to be superior, but the colours are very garish and the screen is really bright. I have spent hours trying to adjust everything, but have still not achieved a good picture and much prefer the colours on my older model and my HD tablet.
I thought that I would have to buy speakers to enhance the sound but have found it adequate for the short time that I use it each day (in the bedroom).

Great little replacement tv for the kitchen. Nice quality picture and sound after adjusting manual controls. Need to get at the right angle for viewing as led pictures go from very light to very dark depending on this! Also we have it connected to a proper aerial not the supplied one. But perfectly acceptable for our needs

Over the years, I’ve bought several August portable tv’s. Always good and ideal for my needs. Easy to use and adjust.
Digital and analogue tv. Analogue I use to watch Italian tv. Recommended, esp for small apartments, studios, bedrooms, as a standby etc.

I did a five star review as I didn’t happen to look at the one star ones before purchasing. Tried to attach antenna and the socket for the antenna and the usb pushed right into the casing of the tv, tried for ages to rectify it and nothing. Completely useless!!!! Very angry as we bought this for my poorly father in law in hospital and its the Amazon Recommended option AND it’s not cheap. Save yourself a trip to the post office – don’t buy.

It’s narrow and fits on a very small shelf by the bed , I have ill health and I’m in bed a lot so it’s great for me to watch as there is a little remote . Very easy set up takes a minute wonderful sound and picture clarity

5.0 out of 5 stars It fits in a small space yet decent picture size

When using just the batteries, not conencted to the mains, I can’t find a way of turn the TV full off, it stays on standby. ie, the red light stays on and drains the batteries. Other than that it’s a great TV. So I can only give it a 4 star for overall.

Bought this for the kitchen. Picture is crisp. Sound is a tad tinny but I don’t care, could probably be configured in settings. Remote is simple and works fine. Very easy to set up, I bought another indoor ariel for it as the thing it comes with was useless in a room with poor reception. All In all, very pleased.

Second August tv I have purchased. Sound on both has been pathetic but have resolved with a little speaker. Unfortunately, after a couple of years the first one wouldn’t turn on. Bought a second and again, this one seems to have an intermittent fault and has to be unplugged from everything, reassembled and then usually works. Very frustrating. May need to return as it’s still under warranty, I hope!

Received today with the August 240d aerial. Setup is easy, and the picture is awesome. Sound is a little tinny, but can live that. Top tip, when setting up, plug it into your main aerial to get all the channels. Then position in the room you want with the 240d aerial, 30 seconds of adjusting, sorted. Mount the aerial on a tin box, I used an old free view player. Perfect. I love it, you won’t be disappointed if you get this.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersSome issues I noticed with SD card:
    1. It looks like the product only support FAT32, not exFAT therefore if your SD card is more than 32GB (max size for FAT32) the TV will not see it, unless you re-format it into several 32GB partitions with FAT32 on each of them. On the bright side – it does see several partitions on the SD card & it allows you to browse through files.
    And regarding HDMI:
    1. Screen is a bit trimmed – I tried to display my notebook screen on the TV, it was Ok but cropped a bit along edges.

All I wanted was a stand by television to put beside the bed, or cover a breakdown of the bigger one. It is a long time ago when I had one of the old sort (not good and too small.) For television use it is an awful lot better than I thought it would be. The other uses it has may be useful but out of my reach. I think it is a good deal and well worth the cost. My surprise was how easy to set up and change the settings.

I needed a temporary TV and this fitted the bill perfectly because it was portable and put-away-able when not needed. I chose this one because of all the peripherals that came with it. In Nottingham, where I was using it, I had no trouble setting it up, but each channel’s clarity did depend on the direction which the (included) antenna pointed. It did need occasional adjusting but most channels were eventually viewable with some effort. I found it worked less well when it was raining. No doubt if you need a more reliable signal then you will need to buy a proper antenna for it.

To find. You can’t use aa1.5 normal I had to buy
AA 1.2 rechargeable battery’s a part from that

I’ve only used the TV in the bedroom so far, but it seems to be fairly good. The picture is sharp and the sound is what you’d expect from a portable TV. I’ve been a little disappointed with the reception aspect. In my bedroom the silver extending aerial is nothing short of useless and although the small black antennae did work, the picture did break up from time to time. I invested in the 12.00 optional high gain aerial and although it seems a little better, it’s still not spot on, and I really like this sort of thing to be spot on. My concern is that if it’s not spot on in the bedroom, what is it going to be like when I try it in the caravan, in the middle of nowhere. The reception issues mean it can only be four stars

Very well made, arrived one time, perfectly packaged, It gives a first class picture when connected to an outside aerial but gives no picture at all with either the digital antenna or the telescopic antenna that are supplied with it. This is not a problem for me because I use the set primarily as a monitor for cctv cameras, and it does this job perfectly, but I don’t know how you’d get on in a caravan or motorboat. Though, to be fair, the User Manual does suggest that you use, and I quote, ‘a proper rooftop aerial or an amplified aerial’. Also, I found the instructions a bit complicated to follow but (a) this doesn’t matter much to me because I’m just using it as a monitor and (b) you guys out there are probably more tech than me. The remote control works perfectly, and the set has all the in and out connections that you’ll need — HDMI in (a special cable is supplied), USB port, Micro SD card slot, AV in and a 3.5mm headphone socket. Overall, I’d give it 5 stars except for the aerial issue.

Arrived the day after ordering. Setting-up and tuning was actually more straightforward than seemed to be the case initially. Picture quality is excellent. The sound – as others have mentioned – is a little “tinny” but clear and adequate for the purpose. Based on 2 days’ experience I’m very pleased with the purchase – though on a couple of occasions it has changed channels of its’ own volition, something I’ll monitor. The main benefit for me has been the amount of kitchen worksurface it has released, relative to its’ now-retired predecessor!

Absolutely beautiful little TV! I bought it for my elderly mother to use in her kitchen and can’t fault it at all. It’s easy to use and the picture’s great. Plus the on screen subtitles are easy for her to read and set up. I initially had my doubts over how well the internal aerial would work as we live in a poor reception area, but it’s absolutely fine.
Definitely worth buying and 5 stars from us!

Product arrived 2 days after ordering, brilliant. Product itself beyond my expectations, exactly what it said on the superb packaging. Reception is excellent though it might help that we are in direct sight of the TV transmitter (4 miles away). Otherwise I cannot give the product, the delivery, the packaging anything but the highest marks.

Nice Portable TV however we cannot obtain a signal, we have purchased the booster ariel as advised and now we can obtain a decent picture upstairs in our front bedroom, however we want to use the TV downstairs to the rear of the house on a breakfast bar and cannot get a signal. We are in the process of having a cable run from the main roof ariel through to the kitchen. Our nearest transmitter is only fourteen miles away.
I would have given 5 stars if we had a signal.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersFor a long time I have been wishing I had a small TV for my kitchen so I can watch my favourite programmes, as they are broadcast, whilst washing up and tidying up, etc. but it needed to be small enough to sit on top of my microwave oven, which is on the worktop under a wall unit. My laptop is too tall, and my phone is too small so I cannot really watch TV on either of them. Then, four days before setting off to Cornwall, to care for my uncle for 3 weeks, I decided to Google 10″ TVs, not really expecting to find anything. I make the 300 miles journey to Cornwall every 2-3 months, but I really miss my favourite TV programmes when I’m there. My 88 years old uncle only has one TV in his house now. He is profoundly deaf as a result of WW2 injuries (even with two hearing aids), and he has the TV on full volume. It is so loud that I can’t sit in the same room when it is on, as it hurts my ears. Also, he flicks channels, not really watching anything – and he certainly doesn’t watch ‘my programmes’!

In the past, when with him, I’ve tried to watch TV on my laptop/phone, and on Catch-up, but internet and mobile coverage in his part of Cornwall are almost non existent. So, I took a chance and ordered this dinky TV (on a Thursday), even though I had never heard of the brand or the manufacturer. I hoped for next day delivery, with Prime, but the following Monday was given as the delivery date. I also ordered the carrying case, and the 12v car charger. Their delivery date was the Saturday. As I was travelling on the Monday I thought I would miss the delivery of the TV at home, so I arranged for local pick up in Cornwall. Then, on the Saturday, I got a message to say all three items had been delivered to my local pick up place in Cornwall. They were all in the same packaging, and I was quite disappointed that I’d missed two days of having the TV.

I collected it on the Monday evening, as soon as I arrived in Cornwall, and I set it up immediately. I didn’t read the instructions first, as advised – I just plugged the TV into the mains, plugged the tiny DTV aerial into it, started automatic tuning with the remote control unit, and hey presto. I am absolutely thrilled with it…. so much so that I rang my sister to show it to her on a video call and she ordered one the next day. The TV comes with lots of accessories (cables) and, as well as running on mains electricity, and a 12v car charger, it also runs on six rechargeable AA batteries. I haven’t tried it on batteries yet, as they are somewhat expensive and I don’t need them at the present time. It could be worse though; at least the batteries it needs are rechargeable, and battery operation is a handy option to have. Oh, and I should mention that the 3-pin part of the adapter plug is detachable, and can be replaced with the European 2-pin part (supplied).

The picture, upstairs at my uncles house in Cornwall, is excellent. The sound is a bit tinny, but that doesn’t bother me. Also the remote control buttons feel a bit spongy to me (I think they are rubber/silicone) and I have to press them quite hard to change channels. My sister’s TV also works well upstairs at our mother’s house on the Wales/Shropshire border, but neither of us can get a picture downstairs in these rural locations. We might need to get booster aerials but, again, that does not bother me as we want them for upstairs use in these two locations. I’m confident that my TV will work up and downstairs at home, as I live in a good reception area, and my two 19″ TVs work well on indoor aerials. I was delighted when I saw this TV, and excited to receive it. Now, I am so happy that I bought it, and thrilled that it is small enough for me to take it with me wherever I go.

PLEASE NOTE: The shoulder strap in my picture of the TV’s accessories (shown folded) did NOT come with this TV. It came with the August Travel Case for 10″ TV, and 9/10″ Tablets – which I bought at the same time. Apologies for my mistake!

Fantastic little TV. Just what I wanted. I love it.

Wow! What a great little TV. I’m over the moon with it. It was extremely well packaged and so easy to set up. The picture is fine, the sound is very acceptable. I do have a battery powered aerial which will provide a stronger signal, which I need here. Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersExcellent picture, and easy to set up.Only used it with roof Ariel so don’t know portable performance. Two things that I am finding difficult to do is 1/ to record to usb stick. Not done that yet I must be doing something wrong, 2/also the channels are inclined to move about, I haven’t found out how to lock them yet. Which brings me to the manual. It is very brief on instructions, and not always detailed enough for me. Would I buy it again? YES I would because the picture is excellent. Hopefully I will learn how to use it properly with trial and error.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersGreat little TV. Bought this for my campervan (along with an August magnetic freeview aerial)as I wanted something small and unobtrusive. Once you’ve done the channel scan it will remember those stations, so it’s just a 5 minute job when you first arrive somewhere new. There’s an electronic programme guide (EPG on the remote, which was not clear to me at first) which makes scanning through channels easy. I have had good reception most places I have been, even with the aerial inside the van. The picture quality is good and the sound is OK – what you might expect for such a small device.

For the money (Paid 93.00) this is a perfect purchase. Just make sure you have an external antenna connection as having owned 3 reiterations of these devices over the years none of them work on the antenna supplied unless you are sat under the transmitter!! Other than that though does everything required. Also has a useful HDMI in (mini HDMI, so adaptor required, pick them up on Amazon for 6.00), which means I can plug my Amazon TV stick into it too!

I cannot add anything more to what others have posted here, this little TV is superb on both SD and HD broadcasts! It blew me away so much I’m thinking of buying some more to use as editing monitors. As far as I can see it has only one minor drawback, it doesn’t connect to the internet, and one major drawback, the back of the unit gets hot, needs more ventilation? But for all that, if you want one, don’t hold back, get it, you won’t be disappointed!

Very fast delivery and television works perfectly. We needed something as we live in the country in a small village that gets regular power cuts, so we ordered this small television so at least we can still watch something whilst the power is off. I noted some people said they had problems with the receiving channels, but it may vary from area to area as we’ve had no such problems. The unit can be run on the mains, but from our point of view it will use six AA re-chargeable batteries, so with a small number of spare ones we could keep going even through the longest power cut. It gets all the Freeview channels fine. Very pleased with the service.

The August DA100D television is a five star television. Picture quality is excellent with both standard and also HD broadcasts although a more substantial aerial, possibly amplified, may be required to attain a reading of 100% on HD. Should you not be content with the Standard picture setting various other display modes and sub settings can be selected .

Sound is also very good considering the small size of the television and its built in speakers. Settings are included in the menu to adjust the standard setting to turn on surround sound and also adjust both the treble and base. Also included are separate sound settings for Music, Movie and Sports.

For good measure both subtitles and teletext are also included and can be easily read.

Overall the quality of this television would put to shame many a much larger television.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI haven’t been able to use it in the location I bought it for as additional ariel cabling will be needed to give a strong enough signal. A waste of money really.

After 12 months of it sitting in a box I was advised to buy a Polaroid arials from Asda – 20 later and the tv is now installed in my kitchen – and it is a good little tv, doesn’t take up too much space and has a lovel, clear picture. At the moment the sound quality isn’t brilliant but for what I use it for it’s fine – that’s why I am now giving it 4 stars.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is an excellent product for the price. The picture is very good for its size, with an easy to use menu system, and the mini HDMI allows external devices to be connected. I connected a Roku Stick to this which is also powered off the USB port.

It’s likely that you’ll need to connect an external aerial to this, but that’s the same with most digital televisions. I was able to receive all the Freeview channels with the supplied telescopic aerial, but I’m close to the transmitter and the signal still dropped out in certain parts of the house. There were no problems with reception using an external aerial, or indeed using the television outside using with the supplied aerial.

Only thing that could really be improved is better spacing between the aerial, USB and mini-HDMI ports on the right side as you’ll need the right cables if you want to use them all at the same time. It would also be great if this could be offered with a battery pack that can be recharged in situ, as whilst the television can be powered off rechargeable AA-sized batteries, they need to be removed to be recharged and of course you’ll also need to carry around a charger as well.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great little portable TV with a clear picture! My husband is in bed most of the day through poor health and would be lost without this little set. He had an older August model for several years, but water got spilled into it while he was in hospital. Despite the fact a nurse tried to dry it with a hairdryer, it ended up with sound but no picture – not much use for a TV! He had been so pleased with it that we decided to get another August set. We use the small separate aerial provided with the kit and I move it left or right, depending which station he is watching. I have put some blue tack underneath and it is secure on the end of his profile bed. The extending aerial worked in the hospital ward, but not in our house, but as I said, no problem with the separate little aerial provided. Great bonus that you can use headphones.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersInitially, Digital Daffodil sent me the wrong model (the discontinued DA100C), but they quickly sent out the correct model DA100D.

After fully testing the unit for quality, connection and compatibility performance, I can confirm this is an excellent product.

Picture quality on SD Freeview channels is clean and sharp; this improves even further with Freeview HD channels.

Sound quality is very good for a unit of this size – it is crisp and has plenty volume. Headphone output is satisfactory, but there should be more volume.

On initial set up, all available channels from my local transmitter were successfully installed, using the supplied telescopic aerial.

If you live in a strong coverage area you should experience no problems with reception.

I connected my PC HDMI out to this unit’s HDMI in and it displays the picture perfectly, so you can use it as a computer monitor, i.e. for a Raspberry Pi, or as a monitor for a digital camera.

I have tested USB media playback and this unit will accept an NTFS formatted USB stick. I successfully played back a number of file types, i.e. MKV 1080p and MP4 720/1080p, WMV, AVI, etc and these play back fine, with no lag or picture break up. I did experience playback issues when connecting an external portable HDD and SSD, so I would recommend playing back files from a USB stick.

The remote control is an improvement over the last model, but could do with being even bigger for ease of use.

Digital Teletext loads very quickly and is very clear.

Screen resolution is 1024×600 – ample for a screen of this size – as mentioned earlier, Freeview HD channels look particularly good.

Connectivity as this price point is excellent – there’s even a standard tripod mounting thread and bracket holes for wall mounting.

This is a massive improvement on the previous model and I highly recommend it.

Excellent product. I use the DTV through my aerial which works well. Main reason for buying was as an HD monitor for my raspberry Pi. I also bought the booster aerial for this and that works well using the USB port on the TV to power the booster. (Not sure how that affects battery life though)

Excellent picture and reception when connected to mains aerial. Freeview stations, incl radio and programmed instantly. Have not tried using it on battery or antenna aerial. Only downside is the quality of the sound which is really tinny. However I think for the price it’s worth it.
Since writing this review I have invested in a small speaker which has improved the sound quality 100%.

Wanted to fit it under a kitchen cabinet, had problems fitting it to a standard folding small tv bracket but managed to adapt every thing to fit.
Sound ok as its fitted in a small kitchen . SD card is a nice feature. We can drop movies/ programs from the PC on to the card to play on this tv. Only tested the recording feature and it worked ok. Connected it a loft Aerial as supplied portable one would not give a signal.

I have it connected to the mains aerial and the picture quality is brilliant. I can’t comment on the aerial that comes with it as we never used it.
The sound is a little tinny but I have plugged a external speaker into the phone jack and it sounds great.
Overall I’m one very happy customer and would recommend this telly to anyone.

Very capable device. What is particularly important about a portable digital tv is that it is sensitive because most of the time only a portable as opposed to roof-top aerial will be available. I did some comparisons – this unit against the various home-based tvs we have but using the same portable antenna. The August won out against each. The provided magnetic based and telescopic antennas will probably be inadequate unless you have a line-of-sight to the transmitter but both a small desk-top yagi (multi-element antenna) and August’s own USB powered device brought in all the stations I’d expect without break-up. Of course if you are in a dip or some considerable distance from the transmitter you shouldn’t expect miracles…. I also found that playing movies from a USB stick worked well. Some tvs reject common formats but so far I haven’t had any problems.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this B grade for when camping, I run it off a 12v leisure battery, with solar panel. Not only did it pick up a great signal the picture was had real clarity running off the small aerial that it comes with. I have yet to try it in a non-high signal area though. The aerial socket could take an RF plug for a standard aerial so than should be no problem. Sound is a bit grim but what can one expect from such a small device?

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat little TV. Have got two of these now and have no complaints. Nice picture and the sound is good for the size of the unit. I would have given 5/5 but for the remote control. very flimsy and as with the first one, soon breaks because the buttons are only moulded and they crack after a few weeks, which prevents them from working. Cant find an alternative to these as there is no code to be able to use a universal handset.

Bought to use as a dedicated monitor for bird box camera, but TV picture from domestic aerial at installation was better than I had anticipated, no knowledge of its ability as a portable.
Picture from AV input of camera is excellent. I had hoped, from its recording abilty to record from AV, which I have yet to try, but spec does say TV, so, although a bit disappointed, I can’t grumble.

Tried it last night (admittedly, the caravan was on the drive) but set up was easy and picture quality was good using the caravan aerial. Sound is what you would expect from a device this small and low cost. Remote is a bit flimsy, but should be ok if treated with care. I have had this portable TV for 2 days. The delivery was ahead of schedule and the product is as described. The best is that there is a helpline number and they are very helpful with questions re setting up etc. As described by other purchasers, you do definitely need to connect it to an outside aerial. The sound is a bit tinny but I guess you can’t expect more with such a small TV. The picture reception is excellent with the roof aerial but for best picture you do need to view it at eye level.

Pretty good but annoying feature whereby (my one at least) leaves the side LED on until the batteries go flat – pointless but not a problem if you run on main all the time or can be bothered to take the batteries out. Light enough to hang off the back of the headrest with a custom made mount. Mains adaptor provided. Supports 64GB USB drive for MPG files in case you get no reception from your source (30+ films in my case).

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI purchased this small TV to replace an old 4:3 format 10″ one by a different manufacturer that I used in my workshop and had developed a problem with its sound system. Knowing how useless the supplied aerials have been with other digital TVs, I re-used the indoor aerial that I had connected to my faulty TV and connected it to the TV before connecting the power supply and switching it on. The installation process was simple to follow and the scanning process picked up all the channels. The picture was surprisingly clear, though given the size, it was no surprise to find the sound a bit tinny. I used a USB memory stick to try a scheduled recording. The process wasn’t obvious, but following the instructions in the supplied manual it was reasonably straight forward. I checked the result on the TV and it worked well. I then moved the memory stick to my main computer which has a 24″ monitor and was able to confirm that the recording was good.

I really wanted to score it 4.5 stars. There are two let-downs. The remote requires a good solid press on the buttons and there is a lag in response so it tends to feel unresponsive. Secondly, the menu system appears to have a logic all its own and will take a bit of getting used to before I’ll be able to discard the manual. I have still to try recording to and viewing files from a USB hard drive.

For the price it represents good value and is a nice little TV with the ability to record programmes directly or by scheduling.

This TV is excellent – when it works, intermittently it cannot be switched on or off either manually or by remote. Usually it does come to life but for the past 3 days it has been sitting doing nothing. I have tried to contact Amazon to get it replaced but am going round in circles. The power is certainly going into the TV as the red light is coming on and the green light is on the plug. I think it might have a faulty on/off switch or the sensor is faulty, either way its just sitting here which isn’t much use. Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI decided to buy this TV after not having a working TV for several months.

Plugged into the mains I got no image or any sound using either of the two aerials packed with the TV. Just a black screen and silence.

Once my rooftop aerial lead was plugged in I got a screen asking if I wanted English language – I pressed OK. I was asked if I wanted to install and I pressed OK.

Got lots of channels when the TV had scanned and they had the same freeview numbers as shown in the newspaper.

GREAT picture and reasonable sound. I pressed the remote to increase the sound and there was sufficient for me.

Wearing one set of headphones I found the sound was too soft – I don’t mean quiet, I mean not just sharp enough. With another set of headphones I found the sound was ok. I can’t wear the type of head phone push-ins that came with the TV as they drop out of my ears.

Took me a while to realise that pressing TV/R changes the TV from TV channels to Radio channels and pressed again reverts back to TV channels.

Pressing INFO while a channel is showing gives me the channel number, name, start/end times of program showing and start/end times of program next in line.

Not too sure about all the other things this set does.

When I press Menu I get a list to choose different things – Digital TV, Movies, Music, Photo, Games and Disk Manager.

I have yet to work out what these do.

I need to investigate about a portable hard disc to record programs on to. Perhaps the one I have already will work.

What I have noticed which are not properly visible on illustrations on the page are the ten buttons across the top of the tv (hidden from the front view).

These are On/Off, Menu, Left/fast Left, Right/fast Right, Enter, Channel Down/Left, Channel Up/Right, Volume -, Volume +, and Mode.

I was a bit worried about losing the remote and being unable to even turn the TV on.

The remote is a bit cheap looking. It is very thin and uses just one flat C battery. At first I found it hard to get the buttons to work but I persevered. I am really glad the TV has buttons too as I think I will be pressing the remote buttons too hard and these things don’t last when you do that.

I have yet to try out the RED BUTTON channel 0200.

The coloured buttons on the remote have white writing on them which makes the yellow one hard to read. I think it says Move.
Red = ZOOM. Green = FAV. Yellow = MOVE. Blue = LOCK.

Not sure what Move and Lock are all about.

The TV weighs practically the same as my Kindle Fire without its leather case. It will be no problem to carry from room to room or upstairs etc. I just have to find a decent aerial or pay for more roof aerial extensions.

The Manual is quite good, the front cover up to and including page 23 are the English pages. The typescript is small.

To use off the mains the manual says you get 2.5 hrs with 6 rechargeable AA batteries.

Note. I did notice as I was experimenting something about 16.9 so it might be that you can change the screen size when necessary.

All in all I am very pleased with it just need to find a portable aerial that works.

Ps. I forgot to mention that in the manual it gives details for locking certain channels and applying passwords, parental locks and all that.

I’ve had this TV for about 2 months and love it, delivered promptly and has a clear sharp picture then suddenly the remote packs up, August (the manufacturer) said sorry the remote is not under warranty, maybe it needs a new battery.
Meanwhile a week later Daffodil (the seller) send me a message asking how is the TV
so I replied and told them about the remote not working and I hour later a nice email saying a replacement was on it’s way and next day through the post I get another new remote.
So great little TV for the kitchen and a working remote and first class customer service.

I bought this to replace my old analogue TV as they don’t work anymore!
However I am very glad I did. This is a very compact and light small scren TV with built in Freeview decoder.
It even works with my satalite dish after I obtained a Phono plug to SCART adaptor.
It all works extremely well and even records on a memory stick well.
The only problem is the complex procedure required to set up the recording or alarm turn on and then having to turn off the TV by a special sequence rather than the off button.
Nevertheless an excellent buy and really great if you just want a freeview TV to travel with.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am from the United States and wanted this set to be able to view and record British television on my visit. I didn’t have a chance to test the reception on the ground levels, but up in the 11th storey of our hotel it received every freeview station in London with the small table antenna. It recorded programs well on thumbdrives that we are able to view now that we are back home in the U.S. It took some trial and error to master all of the intricacies of the timer mode, but once we got it figured out it recorded and changed channels just fine. As a broadcast technician and educator I am well aware of the problems that digital transmission has caused in the U.K. We have those same problems here in the U.S. — perhaps even worse because we do not have small local transmitters trying to plug-up the holes in reception. Each station has just one high-power transmitter, and I live too far away to get any of them. “Fringe area” doesn’t exist anymore because it is all-or-nothing in reception. But this set proved to me that if you can get the antenna high enough, it can work — just not too portable however.

This little TV was bought to sit on top of the fridge in the kitchen so that I can watch the usual nonsense as I create my cordon bleu meals. It needed to be small, neat, easy to use and tough with a wide viewing angle. The August DA100C does all this and more as it has Freeview and can pick up DAB Radio Stations – simply use the remote to switch between audio and visual modes.

The picture is astonishingly clear and steady and the sound is surprisingly good for such a small set, but if you want to fit an external speaker, you can do that easily enough. As I had a spare pair of small active speakers, I did this and they work fine. The acceptable angle of viewing is much better than many larger sets and the remote is neat, handy and quick.

There are only two reasons I don’t give it five stars. First, the user can’t scroll through different channel information without losing the current channel. This can be annoying if you’re watching something and just want to check other program times. It might be me missing the point, but I don’t think so. Second, the aerial fits to one side only and can pull the set physically if your cable feeds from the ‘wrong’ side. Aerial leads tend to be quite stiff so having optional connections either side would have been nice, especially for tight spaces. I haven’t tried the internal aerial or indoor aerial as they wouldn’t work in my particular area.

Apart from these two points, the television is well-designed, versatile and very fairly priced. There is a memory card slot, should you want to show photos or do some other clever stuff with it, and a USB connection too, neither of which I’ve used yet, but I might in the future. I’ve had the set about two months and am very pleased with it. The cordon bleu meals aren’t bad either.

I wanted a tiny tv to put in my room on a shelf in the hope of getting some sort of reception…this little tv exceeded all my expectations and the tiny ariel gets all the freeview stations easily (much to my surprise as I tried a 19″ tv with external ariel beforehand and could only get a few channels). It is not connected to a tv socket, and the ariel supplied is magnetic so sticks on the end of the radiator perfectly. The picture is clear, and the sound good, though it would be good if the volume would go a bit quieter as the lowest setting 01 is still quite loud when everyone else is in bed, although the tv does come with a pair of earphones to overcome this problem. My only criticism is there appears to be a pixel missing on the left-hand side of the screen so there is a tiny white dot there, but this is such a minor detail and is hardly noticeable.Generally very good value and excellent all round.

Bought this for a friend to use in their small attic bedroom. I used the small “remote” aerial supplied with an extension lead and magnetic base mount, rather than the short telescopic one (also supplied). To my great surprise the installation scan found all the Freeview channels and reception quality, sound and picture are all very good. Connected a 500gb USB drive and presto, the media player had no trouble playing movies etc. All the controls are fairly intuitive if you’ve ever worked a DTV of any sort (or set top box).

My only small concern is the remote, which does work fine, but the buttons are those small “bubble in an overlay” type. My friend, who has slightly arthritic weak hands, finds it a bit fiddly and awkward to use.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis TV is small enough to fit easily in a suitcase and yet large enough to provide a decent picture. As such it is a very convenient means to ensure full access to all Freeview programs when travelling and/or to supplement whatever channels the typical hotel TV system provides. The aerial provided with the TV is surprisingly poor (I have found it utterly useless even in strong signal areas) so I use the TV with a Telecam TCE2000 indoor aerial (see TELECAM TCE2000 High performance UHF indoor TV aerial ) which helpfully folds almost flat and is also availale on Amazon. The combination of August TV and Telecam aerial provides excellent service.

This gorgeous little TV is brilliant. Arrived three days early in perfect condition. At first i couldn’t get a signal. (you set it up for the first time by plugging it in to a roof-top aerial) but rang the sellers customer services and they got me up and running in moments. very helpful and patient the chap was too. Currently have the TV on the bedside cabinet plugged into a roof top aerial, but tried it on the set top aerial that comes with it and after a few moments finding the best place for signal it was fine. I appreciate that perhaps not everyone will be in a good signal area when using just the set top aerial, but, mine works fine and I am delighted with it. The picture is crystal clear and I can see the screen well from accross the room even though it is only 10″. Thanks.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI haven’t tried all the functions yet but have to admit that what I have seen so far is value for money. You get all these features with a screen and sound that are good. My main objective was to use it as an electronic photo frame in the house and the other features for use in my camper van. As a photo frame it is excellent and makes the standard ones around the house redundant. As expected the TV is not that great without a better aerial and even then still not good in areas with poor signals. The portable use with rechargeable batteries is best forgotten. My 1.2V 2800mAh batteries don’t last long and you can’t use 1.5V Alkaline or you could damage the TV, or so the manual says and therefore I consider this a mains only device.

So if like me you don’t need the portability/battery function and you are prepared to get a better aerial for poor signal areas I would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersWe bought this TV for our kitchen, needed something nice and small that would fit under the units without paying the earth for the flip down TV’s. What a great little unit. The picture quality for such a small item is excellent. It’s also very neat and tidy and the supplied bracket, although not folding in the sense of the flip down TV’s, is certainly quite flexible in the way it can be mounted. We turned the bracket upside down and screwed it to the bottom of the cupboards – looks fine. Saying that a VESA mount would have been much more useful, especially when you can get a VESA flip down bracket for about 30. The sound quality is perfectly reasonable for the sort of use and the USB and Card reader is a real bonus.

Why only a 4? Well it does look a little cheap, especially the remote and the supplied aerial, other than in a perfect position, is pretty useless for Freeview, but connecting to the house aerial system over came this minor difficulty and we had expected it.

So all in all a very good unit. It does exactly what we wanted and for 130 we can’t really fault it.
