This is unbelievable value for the price. Really sturdy, solid, heavy and functional. It came promptly and was well packaged and protected. It’s a lot of fun for youngsters (and oldsters). Connecting it up to the mobile phone is easy so that you can take pictures or video. An optional extra is to buy a camera, for around the same price as the microscope, that would slot onto the eyepiece and output pictures to a computer, but you don’t really need this. It comes with a few ready-made slides, and a few empty slides. It’s an excellent quality starter microscope at an unbelievably good price. And as far as I know, it is not made in C! I sound amazed and impressed because I am. These days, everything is overpriced and plasticky and you wonder how long it will last, but this is more like the kind of quality of product you got in times gone by. A gem.
I bought this so I could examine canine cytology samples for the purpose of evaluating fertility. In just three days, compared to the cost of taking a dog to the veterinary testing service, it managed to pay for itself. It comes with the ability to plug an eyepiece into a PC or Mac allowing easy saving of the sample images for confirmation by experts by email rather than having to go to the clinic. It might be aimed at students but it’s perfectly good for this sort of semi-professional use as well. Couldn’t be happier with it and it’ll be an important part of my diagnostic toolkit for years to come.
As a private Science Tutor I needed a lightweight, but robust microscope for practical biological science. This is easy to set up and simple to use. My students have loved it, particularly as the camera eyepiece gives very clear pictures onto my lap top screen. This is extremely useful as they can screen shot the images, save them and then print for their records. I would recommend this highly for home use, for a student or for someone like me!
