It is all what I needed 2in1. Great options, easy to use and I love the fact that is magnetic on the back cover.

Best gadget I bought in a while! Great for measuring oven temperature if working with less reliable setups like ceramic egg BBQ and a wood fired Aga 🙂 perfect for cooking large joints, Xmas leg of wild boar worked perfectly cooked to safe level but very moist inside and crispy outside- this would not be possible without this probe and took tricky guesswork out of cooking wild game.

This is a very accurate dual probe device.
Either measure the internal food temp during cooking or both oven and food.
Only criticism is you can’t permanently silence the warning sound.

Out the packet, battery in, turned on, selected meat, stuck sensors in and questioned weather I had done it correctly. That’s how easy it is. It also alarms when displayed temperature is reached.

Very solid thermometer that I used regularly for more than 1.5 years now. Well made, no flimsy buttons or squeaky plastic and has decent UI.

There’s a reliability problem that is likely not specific to my unit. After half a year, probe 1 socket started misbehaving. Giving random incorrect readings which you can fix by twisting connector in the socket. Eventually it became readable only at few positions so I switched to using probe 2 socket. This one degraded during use to a lesser extent, but it will likely be dead by the end of the second year.

I’ve only had this meat thermometer a short while and have only used it once. The instructions seem long winded but the device is quite simple to use. I especially like the pre-set meat types which give you pre set temperatures to reach. You can then decide if those settings suit you and adjust or set your own. The braided cables to the probes are plenty long enough.
I used it to cook a large, thick rib eye steak on a griddle pan. I used the rare setting (145F) and after searing the steak I turned the heat down and left it to reach temperature – turning once. You can see the temperature rising and the display unit beeps and lights up when reached.
The steak was excellent. It was pink inside but not bloody which is exactly right for me.
I’ve yet to try the thermometer in the oven and on tbe BBQ but see no reason it shouldn’t be just as good.

Easy to use and the temperatures seem accurate. The stand works well if you have a flat surface by your oven/bbq to sit it on, but it’s a bit awkward to attach or hang if you don’t.

The Thermapro T17 has been very useful in working out the correct offset for a wildly inaccurate oven thermostat. Confirmed that my oven runs very hot if I rely on the built in dial, at some temperatures I have to offset the oven dial by 40 to 50 degrees!

Food is coming out much better now I can cook at the correct temperature suggested in recipes.

Only negative is that it is a bit of a hassle to store as the cables tend to get tangled together. In the US Thermopro sell a storage case (model no TP99) but unfortunately it isn’t available elsewhere.

Only down side to this product is the length of the probes, they are so long they won’t fit inside a slow cooker or an air fryer.

I have been the type of person who, to make sure I don’t kill myself or anyone else, chopped food up to make sure it was cooked. No more! This works well and I can eat a burger or steak in one piece now. Easy to use and is good build quality etc.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe two probes/readouts are very useful when slow-cooking meat in a smoker bbq, which is why I bought it. It appears to be very accurate when measuring both the ‘oven’ temperature of the barbecue and the internal temperature of the food – certainly the results seemed to be exactly what the Pitt Cue recipe suggested they would be. The temperature alarm was also useful in indicating when the fire was getting a little lively… The controls are slightly fiddly, trying to get rather too much functionality out of too few buttons, but this was my first attempt so familiarity may well fix that. Other than that, it appears robust and the display is large, clear and readable. A good product at the price.

The probes and the timer work great but BEWARE THE MAGNETS! The strong magnets messed with my oven electrics, it went haywire for months till I realised what was causing it. DO NOT attach near your oven controls. I have since taken the magnets off the back and keep in on the side using the attached kickstand.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally, really easy to use. Plug in one or both of the probes, poke the probe into your meat, set what meat you’re cooking (and how you want it cooked, if you’re cooking beef), put the meat in the oven and wait for the beeping. Perfectly cooked meat, sorted.
Cable from probe to unit is a decent length, so you can trail it out of the closed oven door and into the unit, which clips (via magnet) to the front of your cooker.
Only one word of warning, if you’re prone to not thinking things through, when you’re tired after work: don’t grab the probes straight out of the oven. Unsurprisingly (you might say) metal probes cause quite a burn on your ski

Really like this product. Not much to say about it really other than I’ve used it for roasts and I’ve got perfect results every time. Much better than estimating times with weight.

My only grip is that it would be nice if the probes had some sort of clip or mount so I could keep one connected at all times so make causal temperature readings quicker, e.g. checking reheated food temperatures.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’ve had this for a year or more and felt I should write because it is excellent. I use it on the BBcu. No more undercooked chicken and boot leather steak. Easy to set up the desired temperature and off goes the alarm when the meat gets to where it should be. It’s robust and easy to read and the batteries are still going strong. used it in the oven for the Christmas turkey and that stopped us over=cooking it. We attach it to the fridge via its magnetic strip. It has 2 probes so you can set different temperatures for 2 different meats if you are more ambidextrous than me.

Bought as a replacement to another digital thermostat. Delighted to receive two probes as my last one ( Heston Blumenthal one ) broke via the probe and I could not purchase separately so complete waste of money. I gave 4 stars as I would have loved a lamb option but I just google temps and adjust the temps manually. Also love the magnet to keep it stored away when not in use.

Has taken the guesswork out of roasting. Probes go into meat, meat goes into oven, probes get plugged into meat, selected meat/temperature chosen, sit and wait for beeps. Simples. All three ‘chefs’ in the house have used it without issue. Interface is simple enough. Have bought a seperate case to protect it.

Ony real downside it the incompatability with my rotisserie – different product, differnt market, different procerange.

Works like a charm. Both probes very accurate. At xmas cooked Turkey and pork so had a probe in each, magic.
Both to cook at different temps.
The awkwardness, is the wires into the meat when you have to remove and insert back in the oven if you want to baste. Fiddly lifting out with probe wires attached to meat and place cooking meat on suitable surface.
Also, probe wires not easy to store if your short of room.

  50. Parker Hall says:

I found it a bit cumbersome with both sensors plugged in at the same time so I only use one to check meat temp during cooking. It seems to be accurate and I am happy with the purchase, and would definitely recommend..

Good clear screen information. Bit fiddly on first use but easily have the hang of it now. Solved a problem of constantly checking if food was at the right temperature. Just slide the probe into the meat etc and close the oven door. My wife has also suggested this will be great when making jams etc as the probes are not too intrusive in use.

The probes look to be accurate when compared to my ThermoPen so I trust them for accuracy when doing longer cooks on the BBQ. Having two probes also helps ensure that cooking is even which is great, or for smaller joints of meat I can leave one probe out so I can tell what the temperature of the cooking surface is.

  72. Anonymous says:

I use it to check temperatures in a 2 tier smoker – one probe for each tier. The holes in the smoker need to be large enough to accept the probes. So far it has proved to be simple to use and has worked really well. It is not wi-fi. An alarm sounds when correct temperatures are reached so it needs to be checked from time to time.

  73. JamesLiversidge says:

I have only used this twice so far – once to check a previously frozen lasagne was at a safe temperature ( it was ), and once to check the temperature for a medium rare roast beef which turned out to be absolutely perfect. Just pop the probe into thickest part of roast near the middle and put the roast in a preheated oven, probe still attached. Once desired temperature is displayed remove roast and leave to rest. Has a timer / temp alarm but not needed to use it yet. Preset temperatures for different meats might be a little on the high side but otherwise this is a great bit of kit.

I bought this recently as I just received a new gas oven which I would have thought would have this sort of thing built in these days but no.
I only want this to tell me the temperature of the oven nothing else, so this is all I am reviewing.
I won’t comment on the accuracy as I have no way to confirm this, but it seems accurate.
I found it easy to read and use, I could just do with an ideal place to put it.
The unit feels of good quality and is even supplied with batteries.
On the hole I am pleased.
So would I recommend or buy again, yes to both.
A thought for the manufacturer, I think probes could do with being a little longer and a method to keep the excess leads tidy would be great.

Bought it as I’m having major problems with my Neff Oven not baking cakes properly and after 2 call outs with no difference and the last engineer saying my old oven thermostat was no good for testing I was able to prove that it was the oven and not me by using the ThermoPro TP17 and have been able to conduct my own test programme easy and most importantly Accurate.I would not have been able to do it without this little machine which has proved my point that my oven is still miles too hot . The engineer took away my temperature chart to show his boss and success I’m having a visit from a home economist to do a home bake test and it’s all thanks to my little ThermoPro being spot on
I highly recommend it to anyone and must admit best thing I’ve bought. In a long time.
Will even be able to use it on my meats now

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSolid, professional looking instrument, with stainless steel case and large display with clear blue backlight. We bought this to monitor the temperature of our oven. 2 probes give separate readouts which respond instantly to changes in temperature. One could be used to monitor the heat of the oven while the other could be inserted into the meat to show internal temperature. Desired temperature can be set, with beeping indicating when it is reached. Pair of strong magnets allow easy fixing to the cooker. Rather bewildering number of functions which we haven’t yet explored, just using it to indicate temperature.

he thermometer has not been used very often yet but seems to be well made, simpe to use and accurate enough for the intended use. I like it especially as two items can be monitored simultaneously.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis thermometer (the ThermoPro TP17) has excellent build quality and the dual probes are really useful with a big clear display. Only a couple of minor criticisms: the on/off switch is a bit fiddly to use and has three (!) settings which are not obvious. You cannot leave it switched on all the time as the battery will run flat quickly so it has to be switched off manually, which is a bit annoying. You also cannot run the probe wire over flames (not great for a BBQ thermometer…) and the probe wire is also not waterproof so cannot be submerged in water (not great for washing it…). The settings menus are also not very intuitive.

But the read time is extremely quick and the displayed temperature seems pretty accurate, the probes have a useful attachment to fix to the BBQ and it seems like it will last a long time. There is a handy table of target temps for different types of meat on the bottom. You can set max/min alarms and it has a timer which is all I really need. It looks very professional.

    Highly recommended overall!

This worked really well when we tried it. We also used it without food in our fan oven to prove the heat was not consistent across the shelves so we could call an engineer. (Not sure if its meant to be used like this but it worked). Incredible value for money well constructed but he instructions are a little light.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe thermoPro is both solid and well made; the two probes are useful as they can either be used individually or together for larger pieces of meat. Measuring internal temperature helps takes the guesswork out of cooking especially roasting meet. This type of probe can be set up so that you are able to monitor the whole cooking process from the start. One small point is that the probes and wiring should not be placed in water, best to wipe the probes after use then store until required again. The measuring part of the unit is magnetic and attaches easily to a metal surface such as the oven. Obviously the unit is new and it will take some more time to see how durable it is.

I’m a fan of using an offset smoker, in particular for smoking shoulders of pork. With the two probes it’s a piece of cake to make sure the internal temperature of the joint is perfect. No more guesswork or slicing into it to check for bloody juices.
You can’t go wrong with this.

Used our new Thermopro TP 17 for the first time for last Sunday’s roast. I had a little problem in working it out, but at my age, that is quite normal !! But we had the medium rare beef for some time, cooking for years by time and old analogue dial type probe.
Many thanks, we are delighted and would definitely recommend to friends and family. John (Kent)

Great little product at great price. Bought this to check what temp my cooker’s 2 elec and 1 gas oven were running at, so has massively helped diagnose a problem with this v expensive French oven.

Only used 1 probe, but comers with 2, so will be very helpful for the BBQ in the summer.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHave used a single probe ThermoPro Thermometer for years now and have always been pleased with the accuracy of ThermoPro products. I purchased the dual probe thermometer for use on my Weber charcoal BBQ’s. The fact that I can now monitor both meat and the grill temperatures is great. First use was a 10 hour cook for a piece of beef brisket, the accuracy of the thermometer compaired to the built in one on the Weber meant that the brisket turned out just perfect. Highly recommend this unit and really good value at this price.

No lamb settings in book. Appears to be American there temperature settings seem to be different from my other thermometers. Works very well and also allows it to be used as a timer.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Userspurchased this thermostat for cooking pork joint and beef etc. I used it a few times now and it gives the live reading during cooking which allows me to achieve the desire temperature of the meat. This thermostat is of good quality, comes with two probes, though I normally use only one. The reader provides temperature readings of the two probes or one probe one timer reading at the same time. it is quite handy and useful for cooking meat. I like it and I can now cook like a pro chef.

great thermostat, good quality, every penny counts

Works a treat when cooking on the BBQ, when I come to replace this I will get a wireless version but other than that its very easy to operate & feels like its well put together too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHandy little BBQ and kitchen helper, especially since my oven thermostat has been on the blink for a while. I love that I can measure the ambient oven/BBQ temperature and the temperature of the meat at the same time. No need to lose heat opening doors/lids and checking. Looks complicated to use at first as there is quite a lot to control using just 4 buttons, but it is no more difficult than a modern alarm clock. I was worried about damaging the probes as there are so many don’ts, but so far so good, plus there is a 2 year probe replacement warranty. Used it for smoking/ BBQ, syrups, and of course in the oven. No problems!

Best thing I have bought in a long time! This has changed the way I cook and can’t believe I didn’t get one sooner, don’t know how I managed. The probes work perfectly and give accurate temp readings of the food. I’ve been using these on my bbq / Smoker and the meat has been so much better as you know exactly what temperature they are. As you can leave them in, you don’t need to keep opening the lid to check. If you don’t already have probes and like meat cooked perfectly, you have to get these

I’m not sure how I managed without it! Excellent for so many things, but I primarily use it for BBQs, deep frying on the hob, and monitoring the temperature of the oven for longer cooks. With the duel probes you can monitor internal mean temp as well as oven/bbq temp so you know that you are cooking the inside without burning the outside.

The read-out is quick and now I have one I will whip it out even when making something I have made dozens of time before just to help improve my timings and not overcook or undercook.

Nice piece of equipment. I particularly like the magnet on the back for parking it on the cooker hood. Fast and accurate.

Had a near disaster at Xmas with a huge turkey crown joint, when someone leaned on the cooker and turned the thermostat down to 50 degrees. We had no idea how long it had been off, so I spent the afternoon stabbing the huge joint with a jam thermometer until it was cooked. I never wanted to go through that again, so I bought this unit. The TP17’s got two probes, so you can insert one into the centre of the joint/stuffing, which takes the longest time to cook, and one in the breast, which takes less time. The two probes take account that the internal and external temperatures will always be different, so you need to track both. The insulated leads then pass out through the door seal and you can either sit it on the oven top or attach it the door via the included magnet.

Excellent product – easy to use & ideal when cooking more than one joint at a time.
    Presets work well.
Definitely recommend as a serious piece of kit.
Plus you will get good support from the manufacture

The thermometer arrived within the stated time.
It is an excellent tool to have in the kitchen. The probes are paced in whatever meat you’re cooking and stay in the oven. You can use the pre-set temperatures or set your own.
I cooked the Christmas turkey using it and the results were perfect. I have also used it to cook a leg of lamb, medium-rare and the results were excellent.
The thermometer has an excellent build quality and very easy to use. I have since bought another as a gift.
    Brilliant product.
