I was very pleased with this product. It is a great improvement on my last Sat Nav which I have had for a number of years.

Love the face I don’t need to balance my phone in a flimsy holder for satnav this little unit is now hardwired to my jimny and is super easy to use and very accurate

    Great sat nav
Suction did not stick on dashboard only windscreen
I’ve used it about 3 times and it fell from the windscreen once maybe because of bumpy roads
    Easy to set up

Can be a bit hit and miss on the touch screen. You get a choice of voices. It doesn’t always find the places you ask for , not as well as say maps on the phone. Case not provided and just basic stick on window sucker.

So far this product has proved to be accurate and reasonably simple to use. It’s my first satnav as I’m used to using my nose and maps so I’ve nothing to compare it to. If got me to some unknown place in Wiltshire so I believe it’s good.

Easy to use sat Nav with good navigational guidance. I only use it occasionally but it suits my needs. The maps needed updating, which was easy enough to do on line, by following the instructions provided.

Overall an OK replacement to my previous TomTom 25, but this one can be painfully slow at times.

Easy to use. Does what it should. Phone connects every time. Bought a Navman, buy returned it, as it didn’t have a clue about where it was going when you set it to go to an address

I bought a cheap and nasty version of a Sat Nav to replace my old tom tom, which Had old maps that couldn’t be updated. I didn’t like the cheap version, so came back to good old faithful, Tom Tom.
As with All things there are features that you miss from previous version, The car driving on your road is one of them, but great to have a reliable Sat Nav again.

Limited points of interest, my old one had airports on it, these are missing on this one. The mounting arm does not feel very robust compared to my old one , had to buy dashboard discs to get a good viewing position. Ability to plan own route on PC then load into sat nav very good feature. Traffic alerts via smart phone good. Thought dash pads and case should be included with the sat nav not extras. Case was included with my old TomTom

I had a problem working out how to set up ‘favourites’, but finally worked it out.
I’ve yet to use the device to navigate to a destination, so cannot comment upon its accuracy.
Ease of use; see first paragraph.
I’ve no idea of the battery life.

Replaces my old, smaller tomtom, and still getting used to it. I don’t have a smart phone, so lose some of the facilities, but this not important to me. Seems straightforward to use, and so far extremely pleased with it. Good loud adjustable sound, and visually, easy to see.

Whilst delivering the expected TomTom performance on the road, the time taken to start-up is problematic – 2-4 minutes or more. Furthermore, the on-board battery doesn’t charge so remains flat. I had expected better.

This product came to the rescue when I was hopelessly lost!

Excellent all round , apart from lane guidance which is ok but could be better as not all junctions covered. This replaced a Garmin which was also good but led to quite a few errors resulting in u-turns. Tom Tom screen was also better in the bright sunlight.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is my first SatNav and I think I made a good choice. The screen is a decent size and is easy to follow. I loaded Mydrive on the computer and set up was fairly easy. The actual controls, i.e. putting in an address, are not totally intuitive and I struggled for a bit, but have got the hang of that now. Overall I am happy with this TomTom and feel it was a good choice for me.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI do not do that much driving but have been using this one for about six months.
Compared to my earlier one the mount is not as good as it has to be clipped in (my previous one had a magnetic mount).
If you do want to manually turn it on or off, the button is on the unit back and can be tricky to remember where it is.

Voice control is poor and if your radio or cd is on typically you need to mute that first.

Navigation is good plus you can plan your routes on your PC and with the mobile services (need Bluetooth setup and a data from your phone to work).

Trial speed camera subscription is included which seems to keep working (but not updated) after the trial.

The map updates are quite big, in the gigabytes so allow some time to do updates.

Golden Review Award: 79 From Our UsersI’ve had this for about 4 months now so reasonable time to post a review.

I used this in France (and updated it prior to leaving). We didn’t have a postcode as it was some barn in the middle of rural France, but had the GPS co-ordinates, which it does allow you to input. It handled it very well and noted that it disabled the speed cameras as soon as it determined it wasn’t in the UK (AA handbook states that it’s illegal to track speed camera locations), so that was a nice touch. Acquiring the satellite on start-up takes a little while – 2-3 minutes but provided you’re not in a hurry, this is fine. However, it’s very easy to set “avoid motorways” when defining your route options which results in you constantly being sent back on yourself – if you go and recheck this, you should be ok.

The updates take a very long time though – 6 hours. TomTom probably have some piddly little server in the US dishing out files on a dial-up modem. I saw everyone here complained about that, it’s true. I just set mine to run overnight and in the MyDrive app, clicked on the “prevent computer shutting down when this app is open” as laptops will powerdown over night if you don’t do this.

Even then, it missed out a community update (only 271kb) but that was sorted in about 5mins.

If you get locked out of your MyDrive account due to too many wrong passwords, all I had to do was wait a few hours – I saw a few comments on the forums about needing to call the TomTom helpdesk – thankfully I didn’t need to do this.

The bluetooth tethering for traffic didn’t work so well for me, but then, I didn’t really make much of an effort with it. If you’re going to do that on a regular basis, you may as well use your phone and stick it on the dash (but I’m weird like that).

I purchased it primarily for EU/UK wide travel so having all the maps preloaded works for me. To compare, when I went to France, I also downloaded a section of the offline maps on my phone to use with Googlemaps. It’s good, but you have to have quite alot of space on the phone for this if you want to cover the entire journey, which to me is a pain. There is a micro-SD slot you can insert in the SatNav just for maps/routes etc. – this is better as you won’t be competing for space with photos or videos.

I like the fact that you have lifetime updates, as my previous one charged me 30/pa for the pleasure. The speed cameras in the UK cost extra but I suspect that the community updates have included those anyway.

Finally, you might ask yourself – why would you want to buy a satnav these days?

Well, yes, your phone could do the job, but the following scenario is entirely possible:

    -you’re driving at 50mph + you have no 3G signal in a new area….
    -Googlemaps is updating very slowly
-you haven’t preloaded the data on your phone (if you tried to be clever)
-you’re driving in the sticks somewhere (Uk or EU)

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI’ve owned this for about a month or so now and have found no major faults. It updated without issue when I set it up and it is very easy to use. The local maps aren’t necessarily up-to-date and changes that were made 6+ months ago to local roads (speeds/directions) have not yet been updated on the maps which is a little annoying. The signal cuts out occasionally and when it does, the device tries to convince you that you are in a field somewhere. However, for the most part I have found the device to be fairly accurate. I’ve used it for a couple of long journeys and it has not let me down. Occasionally, more specifically when on a road with multiple junctions, it is not clear which exit you need to take but perhaps this is just a case of getting used to the device. All in all, I’m happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe mid range of TomTom satnavs so you get much more than the budget ones for very little extra. Very accurate navigation and the Traffic facility works when it diverted me from congestion ahead for a shorter journey time.
Easy to set up including pairing the smartphone with Bluetooth and tethering the smartphone to it for getting the Traffic data. You don’t have to worry about the maps being up to date as with lifetime updates they automatically update once you’ve downloaded and installed the MyDrive program onto a computer.
The directions are very clear and concise but I did find that I had to turn up the volume from the default 50% to about 80% to hear it above the road noise and radio. You don’t even need to touch it to do that, and other actions, as it has voice recognition to act on spoken commands,
It took over from a ten year old TomTom One and I have to say there have been vast improvements during those intervening years. The only drawback is that it’s been locked down by TomTom so you can’t load your own colour schemes or a third party speed camera database as I did with the One.
I’d definitely recommend this device as it has so far been very good so pleased with it.

Good value at the lightning deal price in December 2016. Bought to replace an ageing Medion / Navteq device.
Came with free lifetime Europe maps and (if you are quick enough) 1 year free speed camera updates.
In use the device is a big improvement on my previous, but needs Blue-Tooth connection to your phones internet access to make full use of the traffic information ability. Not sure of the value of this in Europe as data can be very expensive.
However very satisfied with the functionality I am using.

So far so good – this replacement (speedily provided by Amazon) seems to be working just fine (original had screen issues). First long trip coming up where I might use the Traffic services – we’ll see how that goes…

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe have used TomTom for years and both of our current models have packed up. The new graphics (for us) will take some getting use to along with the larger bar at the side, cutting down what is available on the screen, but then I think that is what is know as progress. We have only used it once so far and miraculously it took me on a route to a place that has various routes but chose the one I would have taken without TomTom, none of the previous versions have done this. The test of time will be when my wife uses it on her own as some of the other models have not always taken her where she needed to be.
As with all versions we have had, I would be happy to pay a slightly higher price so that everything is updated for a lifetime but that is a minor gripe.
