Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe quality is really high, you never know when fine detail on an object will turn out to be critical years later. Calibration takes a bit of studying but nice to know it’s there if it’s ever needed. The stand is excellent, it’s sturdy and focuses smoothly, it’s often overlooked at first but later turns out to be essential.
You can mount the pole 180 degrees around so you are not restricted to what’s on the stand, the microscope can then focus finely and steadily on the carpet or a wall for example or on a scratch on a car.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI specifically got this one because it has an adjustable polariser and it is 5M pixel, and square root of 5M is 2236 so higher than 1080 HD resolution. This is great, but annoyingly it still has pixel noise on fine or reflective detail; maybe a better camera sensor, electronics, or image processing could reduce or eliminate this, however this is tolerable for this affordable price for such a high resolution camera with a metal stand.

The custom “DigiCapture Pro” software supplied at the brand website is better than average, but should also support zooming and panning too, with an optional zoom-in stop at full image pixel resolution, so as not to waste camera pixel resolution on lower resolution screens, (e.g. 1080 HD maybe 4K too), and it could optionally provide pixel smoothing image processing at lower resolutions to reduce image noise.
On Android, the “AN98” App works with this device, so-far, the “USB Camera” App doesn’t.

The supplied stand looks good for inspection use, but a better stand like the “Aven 26700-311 Digital Microscope Universal Stand” (on Amazon), is required for providing light below a specimen and fine smooth X-Y movement, like in a slide microscope.

When used in a stand like the “Aven 26700-311”, I noticed a sadly common design flaw. The mini USB socket is on the back facing side of the camera, which combined with the supplied straight mini USB plug lead, makes correct rotational alignment impossible when mounting on stands with less gap between camera back and stand post. This design flaw is easily hacked away by unscrewing the 4 top retaining screws, gently taking it off, rotating it 90 degrees and refitting it, then refitting the screws.

This really is good value piece of kit. I had pondered getting something similar, which cost rather more, but took a chance with this. I dislike having to return things, so research what I need with care. What I needed was a ‘scope that had realistic magnification factor as opposed to some of the more, how shall I put it, “ambitious” claims stated for similar competing products. This little device fits the bill admirably. The ‘scope body is plastic, but the accompanying stand is solid aluminium. Unfortunately, the assorted adjustment wheels and knobs are plastic, so caution is advised when tweaking settings

When first set up, software installed and cable connected to USB2 as suggested, I suffered from severe screen flicker. None of what few adjustments there are in software or via my PC graphics card helped. So I then reconnected to a USB3 socket and the flicker issue was instantly resolved. My PC is one year old and custom built, so if you have an older PC which does not have USB3 this ‘scope may not work as intended. Just be sure to check your PC connectors in advance.

I intend using this device for examining assorted natural history items, plus anything else that takes my fancy. But what I initially bought this for was to examining Turntable Cartridge styli, for which it does very well.

All in all, I am well pleased with this little device. Well worth it. I purchased the model with the adjustable Polariser and recommend other, would be purchasers consider just how useful this feature is. Well worth the few extra quid to have this option.

One issue to bear in mind is, that the link to the software, is not secure, and my virus software flag up the site, as having issues in the past, given the ongoing monitoring , so did not load software,. still works though the camera app.

I’m glad I bought it. Kids love it, I like the idea of introducing the science topic early. They explore different items every day. I’m not a professional so cannot comment on the magnification side but it makes little things very clear and gives a precise view. There are controls to make it closer and also clearer. I think it’s great thing to have at home. My husband also loves it because he likes looking at different currency notes and coins from our travels. Love this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this my microscope as a present to my 6 years old daughter who loves inspecting things, discovering and learning about the world and loves to take close up photographs. I must say I was impressed with the quality if this microscope and how easy was to set it up. It took few minutes to download and install the required application and connect the microscope and there it was already ready to use! My daughter and even myself looked around the house for different things that we could put under the microscope and inspect them all. I was amazed to see how much the camera zooms in. We were also able to adjust the light and the magnification. It was easy to take the satisfactory pictures. I think it’s ideal for looking in detail at things like those in my photos.

Great quality. Excellent piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat Fun during lockdown if you have young children this is amazing to see what things look like x250
If your Children or you are interested in what’s inside things this is very good with built in LED lights it can show up the smallest of things great for bugs and spiders or just a bit of food.
I have had hours of fun with this and if you ave a mac like I do the Microscope shows up in quicktime as a camera so you can easy connect and record videos for use for school or just some fun.
    would defiantly recommend this.
I hope the video helps I have had plenty of spare time to make it.
