    X-Sense Home Security Alarm System.

This alarm system from X-Sense is quick and easy to set up, via the mobile app. What I particularly like is you can add further elements to your system. A wireless alarm, isn’t ever going to be as effective as a hard wired system. However it’s definitely better than not having a deterrent at all. The price currently is 89.99, which I think is good value.

I had been looking at home alarm systems for some time, but didn’t want to be tied into contracts or be paying monthly fee’s, When I saw this alarm from X-Sense I thought perfect, and was quick to order.
The Alarm came well packaged and presented, All sensors are very easy to set up, You simple scan the QR code on the bottom and it connects them to the base station and updates on the app. The sensors are sensitive and pick movement up very well. The alarm is very simple to set via the app. The siren isn’t the loudest but I don’t think this matters, the most important thing is that you’re notified that someone has broken into your home…As no one pays any attention to sirens anymore! I am very happy with this alarm system. It’s simple, works well and you don’t have to pay any monthly fees. Overall very happy and would recommend to others.

    Summary
A very good home security kit for people that don’t like to have wires (most of us).

    Contents
Two door / window contacts, a base unit (with sounder) one infra-red motion detector and a remote control make up this kit.

    Connectivity
I particularly like this aspect of the kit as you can pair it with a free phone app that lets you adjust additional settings, e.g. brightness of the LED on the base unit. The alarm can also be controlled by smart speaker system (Amazon Alexa or similar). I particularly like this too as it can be armed using this method so you can be in the dark at the time.

    Installation
This really couldn’t be easier. I used the sticky pads to put hold the two sets of contacts in place and the motion detector too – although I would recommend using fixings (provided) to ensure it doesn’t fall off the wall and create a false alarm.

    Base Unit
The base unit is quite small and compact. It is USB-C powered but this is the only wiring the kit needs. The placement of the base unit can be out of site to deter tampering visitors, but the siren is incredibly loud so I have no worries about not hearing it.

    Detectors
All of the detectors connect to the base unit wirelessly. They all have long life batteries (I believe they should last several years without the need for changing.

    Value for Money
At under 90, I believe this is a bargain.

A nice starter set but only one remote control

At this price point this system offers a good security option against most threats to your home. Really organised and determined thieves would not be deterred with a basic system like this though.

The system offers alerts against movement and when armed doors/windows are opened and closed. It requires an internet Wi-Fi connection to function, which is convenient but also a weakness should thieves be able to deactivate your Wi-Fi before the alerts happen. The system control box is mains powered but it does have a battery should the power be cut.

The app is easy to use and there are 2 different set-ups that can be created: an ‘away’ and a ‘home’ set-up. The away settings have all the alerts on (motion and door sensors) and the home only has the door alerts on. There are lots of options; push notifications, alarms, entry and exit delays.

Not a bad system, with obvious limitations, but giving some peace of mind.

Easy to install. Wireless devices can be taken away when moving. The response speed of the whole system is very fast, and self-monitoring is very convenient.

Firstly, this is quite a simple set up which is effective. You do need to use an app to set up the system so make sure you have a phone or tablet capable of the set up.

The installation of the system is simple to do and so far it has worked very well for me. It gives that extra peace of mind.

It seems like it should last a long time as long as the app doesn’t become obsolete!

The price for the system is very reasonable.

Good home security kit. Works as described. To connect all the device to the Base station you have to scan the QR code to download the app and create your account which requires you to enter your email so you will receive a code for verification. I didn’t have to wait long. Also once the base is on and been verified, you can connect the basestation to your WiFi as well. As long as you follow the instructions on the manual, setting and connecting, and testing each device is pretty straightforward. Once all your devices are connected to the base station and working as tested, you have the ability to choose the tune of the base station notification on the app and also adjust the volume and sensitivity of the motion sensors. The base station is portable so you can just move around different rooms. The entry sensors doesn’t have strong magnetic but it doesn’t notifies you if they are pull apart. All the devices comes with batteries and each device got QR codes to scan to connect to your base station. It also comes with tools for mounting on your wall. This kit doesn’t have camera so if you want a full security kit where you can see your house you just need to get a camera. But with this kit you can add more devices other than the 3 sensors that are included in the kit.

Not bad for a basic home security kit. Although I prefer one where you don’t need to create and account in the app by giving email.

Very good quality, easy to DIY install and operate from phone.

Can be set up to work with other smart devices in the house via alexa. Just requires a few nimutes and once i learned about the schedules it just works.

Once set up the system works very well, you get notifications on your phone when it is armed and disarmed and if any sensors are tripped . Although I did have some problem getting it set up on my mobile phone but this will probably not apply to everyone.

Regularly checks itself and easy to control remotely from any distance via the Mobile App. Siren is also very loud.

The app allows you to control the system, giving you alerts of when the system has been accessed. it reminds you when you leave to set the alarm and reminds you when you get home to turn it off. I’m just really impressed, it will alert me to the batteries needing changing and I feel I have more control of how to maintain this system.

Really pleased, it makes me much more comfortable about home security and definitely recommend.

Been using this for a while now and I am impressed with the overall set up, I found connecting the sensors via the app easy to do.

I have placed the door sensors on the front and back door and like how you can change the sound that is made when the door is opened.

Overall I am happy with this security alarm.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFinally, an affordable home security system that really works. I am really pleased and happy with the performance of this system. The kit includes 1 base station, 2 entry sensors, 1 motion sensor, and 1 remote control with batteries; each base station accommodates a maximum of 32 sensors and 6 remote controls. The range on this is great with a range of 1 miles (2000 m) to avoid breakages in the wifi connection which has been a huge bugbear for me in previous systems I have tried.

The power sensors use low power consumption which gives me great piece of mind that I don’t need to accept a huge increase in my electric bill to keep my home secure. The battery life on the pieces in the kit is impressive with 10-year entry sensor battery, 5-year motion sensor battery, and 12-hour base station backup battery.

The set up of the kit is also really simple and you can fix and move the sensors etc as you need to without worrying about wires being in the way or putting sensors near plugs etc. This gives you such control to monitor the areas you need/want to. The system can be controlled via an app on your phone/tablet and the app is great, it gives you a wide range of options to select from to maximise the protection you want when home or away.

I love that this is integrated into Alexa, most of my house is controlled by Alexa so having this integrated with the rest of my home setup makes life really simple and is perfect for when you are running out the door or have your hands full and can’t physically use the app.

I have had no issues at all with the wifi connection dropping or the system not performing as it should so I am really impressed with this. I really feel it is worth every bit the investment to give you and your family that next level of comfort and security day to day.

This looks great and is discreet due to it being small quite loud on the alarm which is good but you’ll have to check your window frames for comparability (see video) I would suggest that this is more a starter kit for a house or a good little system for a flat as there’s one motion sensor and two entry sensors the app was easy to download but I found it a little tricky to get connected but that could just be me I’d say slightly expensive for what you get but the tech it top notch so that makes up for it. You can have the base station upto a mile away so can even be used for your garden shed etc the motion sensor has a 110 degree detection angle at a range of 40 feet. There dosent seem to be a place for a security code so it’s just using the app or the remote to arm and disarm the stmystem.

Not suitable for some window frames

Right, first off this system is not 100% perfect but for the very reasonable price it will do the job with a little care taken to set everything up to get the best out of it.

The system arrived nicely packaged with easy to follow instructions. I scanned the included QR code and installed the app on my phone. I got the base station paired to our Wi-Fi and then began registering the door sensors and PIR motion sensor to the app which in turn adds them to the base station.
This is where I encountered my first problem, the app allowed me to scan the QR codes on the door sensors with no problems and having already removed the battery isolation strips I manually tested the door sensors and could see each operate correctly via the app.
I then went on to scan the motion sensor QR code and at that point the app crashed every time I attempted to initialise the scan code function for the motion sensor.
I decided to install the door sensors regardless, so I could get the rest of the system fully installed albeit without the motion sensor. I then contacted the makers regarding the issue registering the motion sensor, anyway they replied promptly and over a couple of days I supplied them with various screen shots of the issue and gave them details of my phone and the Android version.
The outcome was that they informed me that Android 8 is the oldest version which can successfully run the app and as I don’t particularly want to bin a perfectly functional phone and buy a new one, I was a little bit stuck for getting the motion sensor up and running.

Not wishing to be defeated or buy another phone which I don’t need, I remembered my daughter has an iOS phone which is quite new. I temporarily installed the app on her phone and successfully scanned and registered the sensor to the base unit with no issues, I then deleted the app from her phone.
The sensor is now showing as it should in the app on my old Android phone and is functional and I can adjust its settings easily in the app with no crashes, and three weeks on the app has been stable and has not malfunctioned in any way.

Having the motion sensor installed at last then presented new issues. I had already used the door sensors on the front and back door of the house so planned to use the motion sensor in a fairly large out building at the end of my garden. This was not successful as the sun hits the back of this building just after dawn on bright days and the thermal disturbance inside the building triggers the sensor every few minutes as its outer surfaces heat up. Having tried various positions in the out building I gave up and decided to purchase another door sensor and protect the building against unauthorised door entry instead.

Of course having received the motion sensor as part of the kit I want to be able to use it.
I then decided to place the motion sensor in the house to see how it behaves indoors whilst testing this sensor for false triggering over several days I was arming the alarm to home mode which means it will only go off if the door entry sensors are triggered but the app still logs any motion detected by the motion detector without triggering the alarm. First thing every morning before anyone had entered the area covered by the motion sensor I checked the log for activity. The first few locations where I placed the sensor generated false detections regardless of the sensitivity setting being high or low. I put this down to various electrical items in the room causing thermal disturbance. Eventually I have found a spot which is perfect and does not generate false alarms and does cover any logical area in a large room an intruder would need to traverse to gain access to easily transportable, valuable items.

Having now tested the entire system over a number of days with the motion sensor in its final position, I am more than satisfied the performance of the system overall. I have the base unit placed where it would be very difficult for an intruder to access it and I’ve tested the system remotely a few times by leaving home and getting family members to open doors or enter the area covered by the motion sensor to establish that the system does what it is designed for reliably.

To summarise, yes for the price this is well worth considering and with a little care in getting everything set up it is a really good piece of kit. Bearing in mind that the buyer does not need to pay a small fortune for installation or any monthly subscriptions it represents great value for money.
I now have the alarm sound on the base turned off as the siren generated by the phone app has been reliable and to be fair you would not hear the base outside anyway and many people’s reaction to outdoor units which are sounding is simply one of “I hope that racket stops soon as I want to get some kip.”

The remote is handy, more of these can be added and one has to remember that pressing any button must be held for five seconds before the command is actioned. I have it pared with Alexa and I have to say the pin very clearly to deactivate the alarm using that method. For me the best way to deploy the alarm and disarm is the app, I suspect a good number of users will find the same.
The range of the sensors is great, the one on the out building is a fair way from the house and the signal needs to pass through three substantial walls to reach the base and still shows a full signal in the app. The sensor batteries according to the makers should last ten years in the entry sensors and five in the motion sensors. Time will tell. They are easily replaceable.
I will add more door entry sensors to another out building and a couple of internal doors in due course now that I am happy with the set up of the whole system. At that point this system will cover all my needs. Recommended.

This security system was delivered quickly and in good quality packaging weighing around 1kg. It is easy to get out of the packaging and it was very safe in the box which is good. The first thing you have to do is download the app and you can do this by scanning the QR code on the card that comes with it which makes it a straightforward process.

You have to sign up with your email and make an account, you will receive a verification code. You have to set up the base station and connect it to the internet which is very simple and then you can set up the sensors around your house. They have a large connection range which is good.

I like the fact all the sensors included are battery powered so you don’t have to spend loads of time or extra cash with wiring. There is a remote included which you can use to disarm the system or press SOS and things like that.

Any time a sensor senses motion then you will get a notification straight to your phone which is really good. They also make an alarm sound which is great if you don’t have your phone near you then you can hear the alarm. As well as that it has some great features like if they sense your phone is far it will automatically turn on the system.

Overall, it worked really well and it kept my house very safe. Compared to others it is fairly priced and it is a breeze to set up and use. Highly recommended.

This is an easy set up using QR codes over an impressive range with reliability. You get with this starter kit a base ststion, a motion sensor, 2 entry sensors, and a remote control. The concept is for a small business, house or area that needs securing. The base station can have extra sensors added and the system easily grown to suit your needs. You can covertly notify, overtly notify, loudly alarm from the base station or trip existing main alarm… just ensure the base station is secure and remote as both can silence the alarm without sadly the need to enter a code or pin. Stunning product non-the-less and wise to be part of a complex system of layers of security. This is definately a great solution. Happy to recommend, Andrew

The whole system is very simple to use and the App is very clear meaning you get full control of your system.
For the price it is really worth every penny and it really does work as it is advertised.

My current alarm system isn’t a ‘smart’ system I don’t get notified about alerts unless my neighbours are home and so for a while I have been looking for a replacement smart system that is wireless for an easy install and can cover one door and two windows. This X-Sense Home Security System ticks everything on paper and having used their smart smoke detectors I know their apps work well.

The install of this system is very easy, just slightly tedious as each sensor has to be added to the app separately, so although they all have qr codes and are easy to add it just takes a little patience. Once I had added all the sensors (2x magnetic sensors and 1x motion sensors) I have full control in the app to set what each device does under each setting. I like that it has 3 different modes, Home, Away and disarmed and I can customise which devices are active and if they activate instantly or on a timer when changing settings.

The Base station is fully wireless and is powered from a simple USB C port with built in battery in the case of power failure. This means I can mount it by my door where the alarm has the largest impact. However, there is no external alarm box and so although I get an instant alert on my phone, my neighbours may not hear it.

My only real issue with this and the reason for 4 stars is the remote. WHY DOESN’T IT HAVE A KEYPAD? I have to hide the remote and to disarm or arm it, I hold the button down for 3 seconds. So if someone broke in, all they have to do is find the remote and disable it without a keycode. I can also control it via my phone, but as I can only have one device logged in at a time my fianc cant use her phone at the same time without signing in every time.

    What I Like:
Easy to install with included double sided VHB tape or use screws
Good wireless range on each sensor
    Very customisable
reasonable value for money at 100 at time of review

    The issues:
There is no keypad so its not great for families
    There is no external sire

    Easy but no keypad!

I’m surprised by some of the reviews on here for this system. I found it easy to setup and subsequently very reliable. It is relatively unsophisticated and has only a few sensors. However, it is perfectly capable of securing your home. Give a little thought to the true high value areas and points if ingress. You will be surprised how little you have to cover before there is little in the way of traffic that wouldn’t trigger at least one of the sensors. Equally, the siren itself is loud enough to make time with it uncomfortable. Any intruder will be hurried and likely not stick around. You will be notified and you can take action. Evidence shows that neighbours don’t react to alarms in any more meaningful way. With this alarm you would already know someone is in your house. So external sirens are overrated. I therefore think this is a perfectly fine alarm system. It does what it says it does and should be perfect for most small homes, flats and apartments. I have knocked one star off as there are bigger players in the industry with greater room for expansion through add-on extras.

Great for what it is - easy to setup alarm for a small house, flat or apartme

This probably won’t make your insurance company happy, but you can see via your mobile device whether there is movement, well in the room with the sensor, or a door is open. You get two sensors.

There’s a basic necessary things in the box, and a remote control.

The manual is okay, and easy to follow. With the app installed from the QR code you can add the base unit, and then motion sensor, followed by the door sensors, and then the remote.

There are number of steps involved, none is too complex, but you are going to need half an hour to get this done.

As with any app reliant product the app’s usability is very important, and this was good to use, and not bad looking from a design point of view.

Mounting the physical devices was made easy by sticky pads, but if you want to drill and screw, screws and plugs are provided too.
And the devices themselves are well made. Good quality plastics and look relatively expensive.

Batteries are included – and the claim is long life, indeed, I can’t obviously hope to test that.

Setting up the remote gives a sense of what the base unit sounds like in alarm.SOS mode, which is pretty loud when you are in the same room.

What you have is a very basic system, while you can add more devices that becomes more expensive – if however you have a main room with expensive devices, and a front door and back door, then this basic set covers those.

    Simple app based alarm system.

Obviously this isn’t going to be a NACOSS standard alarm, and insurance conditions compliant, but as a basic home DIY intruder alarm it’s pretty good.

The system seems well-made, is quite easy and straightforward to set up, and works well enough. Don’t expect a standard alarm bell / siren audible level. This isn’t that loud, but to be fair it doesn’t really need to be. So long as it activates upon intrusion, and alerts to your phone etc; that’s good enough.

Being wireless, it’s simple to install. However, the PIR and door contacts are absolutely enormous, and to be honest look ridiculous. This will put most people off installing, for aesthetic reasons, to be honest.

The kit is ready to go, with batteries (long life) included. However, this is a really basic kit, with only 1 x PIR included, and 2 x sets of door contacts (plus base and remote control) — that’s it. Additional PIRs are 27 each, which will really bump the cost up. You’re certainly going to need more than one.

Whilst you can of course use in conjunction with a home CCTV camera(s), it’s a shame that this system doesn’t directly interface with any brands or the manufacturer’s own. Not really a great issue though.

The app and functionality is basic, but decent enough, and it does work with Alexa.

Overall, this isn’t bad. It’s certainly well-made, but let down by the size of the PIR and door contacts. Also, when you starting adding PIRs and additional remote etc; the cost starts to escalate, which realistically makes this rather costly. It works well enough.

I hope that you have found this helpful.

    Basic, but okay.

Nicely box, this set consists of a base station, motion sensor, two entry sensors and a remote control. To set up the system you use the QR code to download the X-Sense app, create an account and add the powered on base station. The app takes you through exactly what you need to do but basically you scan the QR code on the base station and set up the WiFi etc. The base station is the only device that is mains powered and comes with a USB charger/cable. Once the base station is set up and the home/rooms added, you then go through the different devices adding them in a similar manner by scanning the QR code and pressing the test button. A similar method is used for adding the three sensors and remote control.

The sensors all come with a pair of adhesive stickers to attach to a wall (with the spare in case you need to move the sensor or move house etc). They also come with screws etc for more permanent attachment. Once everything is set up, there are three alarm modes – disarmed, armed and home. Home mode has the sensors on but they won’t set the audible alarm – you still get notifications when a door is opened, motion is detected etc. The modes can be set using the app, using the remote control (which also has a SOS button) or using Alexa or similar. To use Alexa you also need to connect Alexa to the X-Sense skill/account.

The alarm is good as a basic alarm and additional sensors can also be added to the base station. The sensors are connected using bluetooth/wifi so no wires are needed to connect them. The sensitivity of the motion sensor seems just right. The app does allow some customisation of the security system.

All in all, an easy to use alarm that doesn’t need much effort put into the installation.

Easy to install and effective security system

Nice wireless house alarm it has the base station a one room movement sensor and two window/door sensors and a remote, the base runs on mains and the rest of the units run on supplied batteries, after reading the instructions it looked straight forward to set up, you need to download an app and connect each device with a QR code printed on each one, it all went very easily, the app has the same functions as the remote it comes with home away and an SOS button to set of alarm directly, it all set up with no problems, you can set sensor sensitivity etc from the app and lots of other settings.

I fitted the open shut sensors on front and back door and motion sensor in a central position. everything went well and a good feature is it has no monthly cost to run, all the units are nice to look at and modern looking, very please with it.

Great kit, no wires, nice and tidy.

This fully automated apk or voice input per Alexa option controlled security alarm is fair quality build ,well done ,basic starter ,alarm kit could be ideal for/with LoRa hnt mesh networks use .Got nice design and do work as designated up to some level with some hit and missed in sections . Nothing major but still there .Functionality It’s capable to deliver working promise of safety ,again ,up to some level but it is what it is .This alarm could be seen as perfect solution for people who don’t appreciate time consuming set ups and like to have everything done with somewhat one click of a button ,and this kit do provide all of the above experience but only up to some level of expectations. If you ask why expectations ?I am happy to tell you that as always you get what you pay for but this time I see this product on the expensive side at the time of this review and on the longer side I have a strong feeling there is few things missing for that price .Anyway , regardless of the experience and the value for money matter I would guess some ppl could be happy with this alarm as sufficient enough to help with basic safety requirement and that is why I am happy to recommend it .

    Basic 2 +1 alarm system.
