After reading reviews I was expecting this to be so loud. It is surprisingly not as loud as thought.

After all it is tumbling rocks! So far so good. Just a wait to see the finished product!

The rock tumbler comes well presented in the cardboard box. Within the box, it comes with everything you need to get started when it arrives. I would recommend this for beginners. The instructions are straightforward and well labeled. The rock tumbler does make a lot of noise but I would put it in another room and let it do its business.

Overall, this is a fantastic bit of kit to have around, great price, and easy to pick up.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is an excellent piece of kit in most respects. The tumbler comes with one-year warrenty. It does the job. It will make faux sea glass in a day, two at the most. It is quieter than I expected. On the down side, the drive belt has a limited time span. I have had the tumbler for four weeks and it has broken two. The tumbler comes with a replacement drive belt. I have used them all up. In the instructions it states that more belts and accessories will be provided free of charge. Unfortunately, they do not give an email address or a telephone number. I can’t find them on Google either. So, you can expect an excellent tumbler but, effectively, the life span of the tumbler is probably no more than six weeks. So, not so good really.

This is quite heavy set which arrived inside a nicely presented cardboard box. It included tumbler, low-noise barrel, half pound of gemstones, four polishing grits, sifter and jewelry fastenings. It is easy to use with the detailed learning guide instructions. I actually ordered for my husband as he likes DIY and is interested in making jewelry by himself. He is quite happy with this tumbler and play with it constantly. I am waiting for his product now. I think it is a good gift for the ones who are Crazy with DIYs.

This is awesome, and works really well. I use one pack of grit and just keep polishing continuously for about a month!

There are two problems, trhe drive belts snap really easily. I have used all that came with the device. it should really have a small bike chain (like those that come with lego teknic).

Secondly, the lid is fiddly. There’s a nut that you screw on to pull the seal and lid togtehr, but it’s just fiddly to do. I’m sure they couldve designed it better quite eaisly. The thread is just too short.

Overal though for the price it works well.

Brought this as my daughter is interested in stones and rocks. Does what it says although the belt has broken a few times. Not the strongest of products.
    Price is fair.

A great fun, educational product for kids. It is a little noisy, although you get used to it. The kit contains everything you need to get started, so it’s perfect for gifting. Our budding geologist has been having a great time experimenting with different rocks. Highly recommend!

I’ve always wanted to try out stone polishing as I’ve always found the variety and colours of rocks that can be polished to be quite attractive either as jewellery or just as decorative stones. So when I saw this kit it seemed to promise everything I needed in a single reasonably priced package.

Upon opening the package you get of course the main rock tumbler, a separate power supply, the polishing drum, and various accessories including four grades of polishing grit, some sample stones/rocks, some spare belts and jewellery mounting pieces and finally a nice instruction manual.

Setting it all up and getting it running is no real problem as the instructions are nice and clear so it all seems great. However there are a few downsides, the first one has to be noise. The motor is not too bad, apart from on the higher speeds, but that isn’t the real noise. The main noise is caused by the rocks/grit/water combo being constantly turned – which is of course how the stones get polished. But be aware although at first it doesn’t seem bad, over a period the noise could get quite annoying. Which brings me onto the other potential downside, the time. We are so used these days to things happening in seconds or minutes that we don’t even consider that these gizmo’s need literally days to run the various phases of the polishing process. In fact to go through a whole cycle using all four grits will likely take about a month of elapsed time. So I would suggest finding a shed, garage or other normally unused room to use the tumbler in as otherwise if you’re in the same room for long it will start to grind – no pun intended!

Having said that if you can stand the noise and live with the time needed you can get some great results and the product/hobby does live up to what I expected. So its all down to patience and tolerance as to whether this hobby is for you.

One other thing to mention is that the grit is disposable and more importantly the supplied packs of grit are only sufficient for a single cycle. So factor in that you will need to buy additional polishing grit if you intend to use this polisher over time. But that’s not the end of the world, many hobby crafts have consumable goods so this is not exactly unique in that respect, but it is something to bear in mind.

Overall I’m glad I finally put my toe in the water…

This is a really lovely set and includes literally everything a complete novice like me needed to get started, even a bag of rocks to use.

I got my 2 & 4-year old involved and even though you have to wait 7-8 days between each cycle, they were always excited and asking how long was left. We chose not to use the rocks provided, even though it’s a really nice selection, we wanted to scavenge for some stones and see how they turned out.

I’ve attached pictures at each stage although they don’t really do the stones justice, up close you can see some really interesting features, and it was fascinating to see how they developed over time.

The machine is really easy to set up, it doesn’t make too much noise, but the rocks rotating constantly does, so somewhere out of the way like a garage might be the best place for this. We used the utility room and it did drive my wife slightly mad. Our driver belt snapped after about 3 weeks, (luckily there’s quite a few spares included in the box), and there’s quite a bit of wear on the rollers, and quite a bit of rubber has also come off of the ‘tyres’ on the drum, but general build quality does seem really good.

My only real critique is that there’s only enough grit included to do one lot of stones, but you can purchase more separately on Amazon.

Great activity to do with young kids

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo far, this has blown out the seals twice and snapped three drive bands in a month. Fortunately, rather than splashing out on factory drive bands, hair bands fit and they are 100 for 5
Go back and check the tumbler after 2 hours and 4 hours, to make sure that the lid has sealed properly.
It sounds like I am being quite down on this, but it is excellent value for money and I am considering buying a second

Good kit, come with everything you need. The cycles takes a very long time and the machine is obviously noisy so I had to set in up in the garage. Fun to do but you need a lot of patience to wait for the results. 60 is reasonable for what you receive. Would make for a great gift.

This is not a toy, maybe suitable for a teenager upwards who has a interest in rocks /stones and ahs a lot of patience.
Anyone who knows about rock tumblers knows they are noisy afterall they are tumbling stones so I woudl suggest putting thsi somewhere where it can’t be heard.
Do read the instructions very carefully, they are very concise and easy to follow, even if you are used to rock tumblers it’s alwasy good practice to read the instructions.
Fantastic bit of kit, offering excellent value for money, vreating a real interest in jewlery making and geology.
Small and compact, very well made, easy to read lcd dispaly, good materials used would highlt recomend this for any enthusiast new and old.

Having recently seen rock tumbling videos online we were keen to give it a go ourselves. Everything comes well presented in a cardboard box, showing you exactly what you’re getting. It comes with everything you need, so can be used and set up straight out the box. Perfect fir any beginner. Reading through the instruction guide you can work out what you need to do. It could be alittle more user friendly with a simple step by step guide though. You get a detailed description of what each of your stones/gems are. Easy to set up, placing the rocks in the tumbler, the numbered grit bags has your instructions of covering the stones with water and using a full bag of grit. Then attached to the machine and program. The machines face is simple to understand and set up. An on/off button, start/pause, frd/rev, adjustment of days and speed. It displays the number of days and the speed you have it set at. The booklet suggests the best way for you to get your polished rocks, making the whole process take about a month, personally we didn’t realise it would take that long. It is a fairly lengthy and noisy process, so you do have to be aware of that. The noise is noticeable, but bearable, if you have a shed or garage it might be more suitable out the way. Even as adults it was really enjoyable for us to do. Love the fact everything is included. Definitely something we would do again after purchasing more grit and finding suitable rocks to tumble and smooth out.

Well made and sturdy rock tumbler. Quiet enough while running, obviously the motor running and rocks tumbling does make some noise so best placed in a garage or utility room.
Takes around a week of tumbling to achieve each level, gradually getting smoother as it goes.
Different stones/rocks/glass give different results, some would grind away to nothing in a week! Good results out of it though.

    Rumbles away fine!

When I was a kid I always wanted a Rock Tumbler, sadly it has taken me nearly 40 years to get one… BUT it’s great to finally give it a go! This kit contains everything you need to get started, but you have to be aware that it does make quite a lot of noise, so if you want it to run for UPTO 9 days, you need to find a quiet corner to park it!

At 60 this is pretty good value for money, I am not entirely sure how long it will last, but it is definitely a good place to start if you are considering Rock Tumbling, and want to get an ALL IN ONE kit at a reasonable price to give it a go.

    Is it any good?
    Is it good value?
Will I get a lovely cup of tea , at any point during this review?
And possibly even a biscuit ?
Well… the answers to these, plus perhaps, one or two, extra, questions, we might accidentally stumble across, during the course of my meandering, and often erratic, review, we should take a closer look… …

    Packaging :
It arrives in a lovely, shiny, professional, retail ready box.
The level of packaging is not excessive, or profligate, and is just enough to keep the product safe, and out of the box in good condition.
It makes a very good first impression.

Most of the packaging can be recycled, including the inner contents.

The build quality is very good.
It feels chunky, well put together, and solid.
It feels, and looks pretty durable.
There are no visible flaws, no ragged edges, no mould marks, and no gaps.
No telltale rattles, or squeaks that would give away poor workmanship.
It all looks very professional indeed, with all the junctions being beautifully finished.
It’s all nicely done, and looks the business.

    Features :
Three tumbling speeds, to choose from.

Well lubricated bearings, means plenty of maintenance free tumbling.

    Set Up :
It is as easy to set up as following the clear, and well written, instructions.
It takes just a few minutes to be up and running.
Just as well, as the actual tumbling is a slow, slow process.

    It performed perfectly during testing.
All the speeds worked as described, and every feature, and item was smooth, easy and faultless.

    Down Sides :
No downsides were noted during testing.

I do not hesitate to recommend it highly.

This rock tumbler is a great kit for beginners.

I was surprised to see how much was included in the box, absolutely everything you need to get started was in there. Including multiple different grits and a pack of rocks to tumble which means you can get started right away without having to purchase any extras.

All the parts feel of high quality and I think they will last quite a while. Using the machine was fairly simple and intuitive.

Overall, I would definitely recommend for beginners.

My 12 year old daughter is very much into collecting gem stones and crystals and this is perfect for showing her the process of how the rough rocks turn in to the polished stones she collects.
This kit has everything needed to get started in rock tumbling and is very straight forward to use.
Simply fill the barrel with rocks (there are some included to get you started) , cover with water and grit and place on the machine. Wait patiently for the suggested frames and see the step by step process to reveal beautiful gem stones. .
There are four cycles in total with a minimum timeframe of 27 days. I won’t lie, it’s very noisy and not something we can have running constantly in the house so a garage is probably best.
Included in the kit are a keyring, pendant, ring and clip on earrings for displaying gems afterwards.
    Would recommend!

    Good starter ki

I ordered this as a gift so have not seen it in action myself, but I am told that my young nieces have enjoyed using it. The set contains everything you need for your first attempt at rock tumbling, but be prepared to buy more supplies (different grades of grit) as you don’t get loads. I wasn’t really aware of how long the process would take before I ordered this, but do be aware that you won’t get results overnight (the timer goes up to 9 weeks!)

I’m told it’s far from silent in use, but the manufacturers have done their best to reduce noise to an acceptable level. If you have an outbuilding or garage with power sockets, it would probably best be used there.

At the current price of 59.99, it’s not a pocket money gift, but it is an interesting device which gives good results but needs a suitable location due to the noise.

Got this product for sentimental reasons. Back in the 1970’s my mum used a similar tumbler and used to make stunning jewelry, I can Remember standing by amazed at the tumbling motion and the magical gems that came out at the end. This product is not for impatient as you have to remember it is mimicking the motion of the sea which Takes hundreds of years. I have not had the product long enough to get any finished results yet, but the instructions are easy, and the kit comes with everything you need. Although this product is marketed for kids, I’m a 50 + grandma, who is very excited to having a go, and collecting rocks to use. A great little hobby

    Brilliant starter kit!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWay back in the 70s and 80s we had a couple of rock tumblers, it was all the rage, and we made several pieces of jewellery. Our rock tumblers then were mains driven and there was always a chance of the water from the tumbler getting into the mains motor, not so the AliKids rock tumbler which has a separate 12V adapter with 1.4m of cable. This is a comprehensive kit containing the rock tumbler, some rocks, 4 packets of different grits, a sieve, spare belts, some jewellery fixings and an instruction book. Rock tumbling is noisy and takes a long time, several weeks. The machine has three speeds, with the higher speed used first with grit #1 and then reducing down to the lowest speed with grit #4, and also has a timer for up to 9 days. The drum is a thick rubbery material and the lid is securely sealed to prevent leakages. The manual is good, giving suggested timings and speed settings, as well as information on the type of rocks that can be used. A typical suggested cycle takes about a month. The grits supplied are suitable for one cycle as the whole packet of each grit needs to be added. The machine is solidly constructed in metal and plastic with the bearings generously lubricated so will not need attention for some time. The motor was noisier on speeds 1 and 2 but this was drowned out by the rocks tumbling, (this isn’t a quiet process!). Overall if you have somewhere you can put the rock tumbler where it can’t be heard this is a fun and interesting hobby.

Good kit for a noisy, fun hobby

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the complete starter kit to get you started. Tumbler, low noise barrel, half a pound of gemstones, 4 grades of polishing grit, sifter, jewelery fastening along with a comprehensive guide. It is simple and safe to use, 3 speed, LCD screen and up to a 9 day timer. Great for crafting and for those wanting to create stunning jewelery. Its a good learning resource for children and young adults for STEM and geology inspiration. Replacement parts easy to install and the sellers commitment to provide spares free. Great commitment/warranty. Nice results too. I actually like this a lot and happy to highly recommend, Andrew.

This rock tumbler is heavy and high quality and comes with everything you need to get you started tumbling. The entire cycle takes time but its great to see final result, it make some noise, so best place it in the garage or somewhere where it wont distract you.
Overall the tumbler is simple and well made. The holding barrel is thick and the lid doesn’t leak. Plus If you need more belts or other accessories, they will send it to you for free.

    ****** Things to note********
    * It takes time, so prepare to be patient!
    * Tumbler makes noise. There are rocks rolling in a barrel, and despite noise-reducing properties, you can still hear it. I’m running the tumbler in my garage. One way to reduce the noise I found is to cover the tumbler with a cardboard box.
    * Kids love it. Great way to learn.

This AliKids Advanced Rock Tumbler was easy to set up and comes with everything needed. Tumbler motor, barrel, power supply, rocks and grit all come with the kit as well as an extra motor belt, strainer and some jewelry fastenings.
I put the rock in the barrel along with the #1 grit and some water, popped it on the base and set it going. Remember that this rock tumbling procedure is measured in weeks rather hours or days. It takes quite a while to get a real polish on stones. Compare that to oceans or rivers where a good polish can take thousands or millions of years.
I’ve put the tumbler in the garage as the rocks tumbling does make some noise. It isn’t really loud but it’s constant and when the house is quiet, it can be heard, distantly, in every room of our house.
I’m really impressed with this rock tumbler and, for a starter kit, it’s very reasonably priced.

Easy to set up and comes with everything needed
