LinkTap G2S Wireless Water Timer & Gateway & Flow Meter
LinkTap G2S Wireless Water Timer & Gateway & Flow Meter – Smart Hose Timer for Garden, Cloud Controlled Watering, Wider Range than WiFi, Real-Time Fault Detection & Notification, 2 Year Battery Life
DO YOU EVER WISH WATERING YOUR PLANTS WASN’T SO MUCH WORK?
Properly watering your lawn or garden can be an exercise in frustration. Use too much or too little water, and you’ll end up with wilted plants and flooded soil. But even outside of those little accidents, having to time and then manually activate your watering system is a hassle, especially if you’re not always around the property. Fortunately for homeowners and gardening enthusiasts everywhere, there’s an easier way.
Simplify your watering with the LinkTap G2S Wireless Water Timer!
Designed in Australia, the LinkTap G2S is the enhanced version of our highly successful G2 water timer, and it uses the same gateway as the previous model. If you already own a LinkTap system and are thinking to expand it, you can just get the add-on G2S water timer. Save your investment!
For first time buyers, a LinkTap Gateway is required. One LinkTap Gateway can control up to 15 LinkTap Water Timers simultaneously.

Manage Your Water Consumption
Aside from Rain Skip, LinkTap G2S offers several other water-saving features. All work modes have an ECO setting, which repeatedly opens and closes the valve during the watering cycle to minimise run-off. The G2S even lets you monitor flow rate, water usage, and cost in real-time through the app from anywhere.
High Flow Rate
The LinkTap G2S water timer has a typical flow rate of over 32 L/min (8.5 gal/min), making it a perfect candidate for an in-ground sprinkler system. Since no wiring is needed, you could easily save thousands of dollars by avoiding the labour cost of a complicated installation.
Rugged and Weatherproof
The solenoid valve can withstand high-pressure and ensure your water timer remains operational for years. Plus, the UV-safe exterior and IP66 waterproof design protects it from harsh weather conditions. Designed for every type of climate, the LinkTap G2S is robust, sturdy, and reliable.
Use LinkTap in Your Smart Home
Have your hands full? LinkTap timers can be set or controlled remotely throughout your smart home by speaking with Alexa or Google Assistant. Just give the command, and LinkTap will take care of the rest.

Robust Comprehensive Versatile
I bought a pair giving 4 independently controlled circuits. Versatile programmes. Rain control linked to weather app and mm of prior and predicted rainfall without the need for sensors. Clever soak away delivery pattern option. Multiple programmes. Measurement of flow rate and volumes with history and costing. All controlled from a clear app from anywhere in the world together with problem notifications. Brilliant solid kit.
Justifies its price
Expensive, but worth it.
Many programming options. Clear instructions (just follow them carefully). Gateway is around 10m through a double brick wall from tap: perfect connection first time.
Takes a little while to get used to the app, but worth taking the time to explore, along with the online manual.
I rarely write reviews, but even at this price it exceeded my expectations. First rate.
Excelle
Build quality seems excellent. App seems to be user friendly and the overall impression is of an item designed very much with the customer in mind. If the device has long term reliability, there is very little that could be improved upon.
Simply amazing! Paying for quality! 5*
I should really write more reviews, but when I do its because a product is amazing. This was so easy to setup. Plug the gateway into a power supply and connect to your router. Then attach the other unit to the garden tap, add 4 x AA batteries, download app on your phone, add the gateway to the app and it connects automatically to the garden tap device. Wifi connection is great. Schedule works great and can start and stop 2 different zones with ease.
Works but BETTER than expected
I’ve bought a cheaper version which used Bluetooth via a mains powered hub sited nearby. I was never happy with the programming options and the Bluetooth was ropey at best! I used it for 2 seasons before it died!
This unit is however like a breath of fresh air, being a doddle to set up and install. The operating/using/WiFi/Cloud experience is quite simply SUPERB. Moreover the flow rate is not restricted at all when operating. Ask me again in a couple of years and I truly have confidence that I’ll be saying the same again.
Wow - Amazing
Simple product but it works well very well. Great app to use the product as well.
Integrates with Home Assistant easilly
A very well built product with great supporting documents if you want to integrate with Home Assistant via MQTT. Very helpful support staff. Product performs very well.
Excellent suppo
Purchased summer 2022 , worked fine, turned back on for the summer, batteries totally flat and the system constantly clicks and will not connect to the gateway, just contacted support, Jack very helpful , after a couple of emails put a replacement in the post, excellent service and thank you
Excellent product and Brilliant customer service
Once you buy plants you must look after them, one of the key thing is to water the plants regularly and on time.
I bought Link G2S gateway and watering dive over a year ago and I must say this is one of the device which I would highly recommend, an excellent product and robust design, so simple to assemble and start using it.
Product – There is nothing out there in the market that matches the quality, reliability and durability of this product, I have had few in the past and this one is above the class.
The batteries last forever, well I haven’t yet changed mine and I can see on the app over one year if use it’s still 60%. There are so many features that comes with the device that you would be blown away, weather forecast, don’t worry about turning your timer off, the devices skips watering plan if the forecast is to be rainy,
Customer service- one of the best customer service team I had to deal with, Jack is an amazing person works for the company based in Australia, I had few queries and Jack sorted them out promptly.
This would be a game changer for you, the best product out there in the market, absolutely no match to its quality and performance.
Great produc
Easy to install and setup. Running well after some fine tuning. Saves water with adjustments for rain.
Working fine but device is fragile
I need information about the service. My flow meter stopped working, and can no longer be recognised by the system. Who is servicing these devices?
Semplicemente perfetto
Easy to use
This product works well however , one unit was faulty and used batteries at an alarming rate . We are still waiting on a replacement from the manufacturer. Another unit restricted water flow when the battery level dropped below 50% . The gateways struggle with walls and considerably reduce the range .
Fantastic product and customer suppo
I got the G2S last spring when I (snowbird) was returning home. I had been giving away most of my orchids and potted plants when i left. This saved me a ton of money by taking care of them so I didn’t have to buy new when I returned (the neighbors were less happy about this than I was).
I had trouble with it dripping. There is a mandatory backflow preventer that was causing trouble even when the screen was reversed per instructions. I mashed the plastic fitting pretty badly trying to stop the drip. I wrote to the company one night and got an almost instant reply. I was sent a new unit. I am thrilled with their service. I attached it to a quick connector and no more drips.
I was really happy to be able to see what was happening with the watering. I got notifications every day when it was going off and when it wasn’t (because of rain). It was easy to set the amount of water I wanted, the frequency of watering, and the amount of rain forecast/received that kept it from watering. I was concerned that there would be some kind of fault in the setup that would cause the water to flow for days. It was really comforting to know that this was not happening.
When hurricane Ian came through, my neighbors turned off the water thinking. they were being helpful. Then they forgot to turn it back on. I got a notification that the water was off and every day that it was off. After a few I asked the neighbors to check on it. They said they turned it off but turned it back on. Well., they didn’t turn it on because when they checked the hose bib was still off. I got notification once it was back. If i had a lesser system I would not have know there was an issue.
I am really sold on this product. I have a controller that I was planning to use that came with a watering kit. Once I got this I thought I would keep it for backup. But now i gave it away. I would definitely buy this again.
Complete Peace of Mind
I needed to go out of town for a week and we are in year 3 of a drought, which means I had to set up an irrigation system. I read the reviews and chose 5 plain LinkTap timers (red circles) and 1 with the flow meter (yellow). Rather than having to “trust” a long hose across my property under constant pressure (even if high pressure hose, the quality is unknown), I used the flow meter as a “Master” at the faucet. While that would allow the security to put timers at a distance (1 long hose across the property with splitters and multiple timers at that end), I started with everything at the source.
My faucet is low and the timers have some weight to them, especially using 6 of them! To help hold the weight, I supported them with a metal hose reel. The lime green splitters were from the local dollar store and worked great. The orange and yellow quick connects made setup and removal easier.
The flow meter was important for getting it all programmed. I watered manually and used the data from the flow meter to identify how long to run each timer. I set it up for the minimum I would need each day, knowing I could double it in areas if needed during the drought.
It worked great, giving me full access from another state via my phone. I haven’t used the rain skip yet (saw reviews that the forecasts weren’t the best), but so far they look like they would work fine. But there is a simple red (STOP) and green (START) option to suspend and restart the all the timers with one click that I used to manually skip for rain.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised upon returning home that it is so much easier to let this system run on its own. I thought I might go back to doing it manually but haven’t yet. It will be very cumbersome to have to run them and time them myself once I have to put the timers away due to cold temps.
My only criticisms are with the software, like the flow meter graph would be better if it did volume instead of time (time is irrelevant when the water pressure is inconsistent). More significant, though was the structure of the timer schedules. There are two independent systems in the software. In the “batch” system you can identify which timer to run for a specific time and then you can set the start time (or in my case the Master+ the timer can run together). But it doesn’t allow sequencing them, it is only 1 timer/hose done once.
The second system is much more cumbersome, especially with a (duplicate) master timer for recording volume. This system has exact times of day to start and you pick the frequency of the days (Master on 7:00 for 2 min, backyard on 7:00 for 2 min, repeat for each section of the yard with exact times).
Maybe I’m missing something, but it would be easier to design the batch plans (Master 1 minute, backyard 1 minute, + the rest of the sequence) and then choose START TIME for the whole batch and REPEAT FREQUENCY (1 time only, daily, every other day, etc.). That would make it easy to move the start times later as the temperatures cooled and to add a 2nd run in extreme drought situations. But maybe that’s harder than it sounds.
But the timers have worked great and the software is manageable with some nice features. This project took me about a month and probably cost about $1500 with the timers and the hoses and sprinklers and soakers and all the hardware (connectors, splitters). The Eden sprinklers were a little tricky due to water pressure issues. The most that worked in my yard were 5 on a timer/hose at a time, but 4 was better. The soakers could cover more area, but were harder to install where there was a ground cover to snake around. It was quite an adventure that worked out great. Thanks LinkTap!
When you have it sorted it's better than fab
Tad but it’s good , is it worth it is my question , honestly I think it is
Superb
Highly recommended.
Brilliant for both topping up our pond and watering our plants while away. Easy to check on our cctv to see if extra watering required and use linktap to do as required. Good link to weather so watering skipped if any rain.
Having the dual control was spot on for us and a purchase we’ve both said is worth it.
Great so far, worth the spend, but we will see how it copes with the cold winte
Easy to set up, find the app interface a little over complicated and don’t really like the design of the layout. Have had a few smart tap devices over the last couple of years, usually cheap Chinese crap, that as soon as the weather turns cold give up and die. I’m hoping that at this price point this device can cope and continues working for many many years.
Top quality build
A very well thought out design – caters for different size taps. Simple interface on unit, but the best part is the app which is very detailed and a breeze to learn.
Excellent device to control your garden tap remotely
This is an excellent device to control the garden tap remotely. Among many other features, you can set off instant watering or create scheduled programmes on your phone from anywhere with an internet connection. It was very handy when we were away for a longer period of time, but we rely on it for regular watering even when we are at home.
We needed to use a second washer (included in the pack) to make sure that the device attached to the garden tap properly, with that installation was straightforward.
The gateway and a single tap are about 10 meters away with several walls between them but the connection was never an issue.
The app is well designed, intuitive and easy to use despite the many control options.
I’m glad we went for the LinkTap version with the flow meter: I find it useful to monitor changes in the pressure and generally to be more aware of our water usage.
Overall, we are very happy with this purchase.
I decided to buy the LinkTap controller to water 24 plant pots in my garden. As a traveler and an avid automation enthusiast, having a reliable and dependable watering system was of utmost importance to me.
I connected this controller to a Mr. Landscaper system that I had assembled. I don’t like having water sit inside my pipes especially when the sprinkler system is not being used. It’s safer all around and less prone to accidents especially when I’m not home. This unit does exactly that. It cuts off the water to the main line and the sprinkler heads unless it’s time to water. This way, if there’s ever a hole or tear in the main line, I can easily shut it off remotely as the app reports back the pressure change.
The unit comes with a backflow protection, and let me tell you, everything about this is what I would call high quality. The unit was designed in Australia and assembled in China. It also comes equipped with a flow meter which measures the amount of water that is being used on a daily basis including the water pressure, you know, in case there’s a leak. There’s also rain skip feature that prevents the unit from watering your plants in case rain is detected. The rain detection is based on weather prediction, which is not always accurate, so I have that setting turned off.
All of this is reported back to the app that you can control from anywhere in the world. You don’t have to be on your home network to control this system. It also has fault detection and line disconnect or water shut-off/non-shut-off alerts. Definitely useful if you are traveling and are in need of an automated solution. I bought the unit with the Gateway which I connected via ethernet cable to the back of my router (ethernet cable included in package). Once I scanned the barcode on the main unit and registered it with LinkTap, the Gateway synced up and I was ready to go. Note, the gateway is used to program the unit via mobile phone app and to schedule watering times. Afterwards, you can disconnect the gateway and the unit will continue to operate as long as it doesn’t run out of battery. The main unit does take 4 AA batteries so use the best kind you can find.
After I had everything hooked up and after a week, I noticed that the Flow Meter on the unit wasn’t operating. I opened up a support case with LinkTap via the app and 6 hours later I got a message saying a new unit was on its way. How about that for customer service? This thing has been working for me consistently without any leaks or hiccups. It turns on and turns off when I need it to on an automated schedule. I highly recommend this.
A real game changer - rock solid reliability
The Zigbee connection has been flawless – head and shoulders above previous blue tooth devices that gave me endless connectivity issues. This is a super reliable product with the ability to control remotely from anywhere. I love it and so does my law
I needed something for my SO’s garden since we were going on vacation and she wanted something left alive when we got back 🙂 🙂 I spent two weeks surfing reviews and basically came to the conclusion that the overwhelming majority of timers out there are absolute overpriced garbage. Just cheap, barely up to the level of throwaway, crap from China.
Then I stumbled across the LinkTap stuff. Yes its more expensive – up front. $140 for one faucet. But its very obvious that this product is actually built to last more then one season. You WILL NOT find anything else with even close to equivalent functionality and quality for this price. Anything else will start at $50-60 and MAYBE last one season. We’re in a high desert (6K ft) so while the heat isn’t overwhelming (high 90’s at most), the sun (UV) is brutal! Cheap plastic crap from China has a amazingly short lifespan!
The app is clunky but functional. Which is fine. I want a functional product! I don’t care if the app isn’t a work of art. Read their directions because some things are not obvious. Also, this product will do A LOT. Also, not all of which is obvious.
The web site is less clunky and still perfectly functional. The web site is NOT housed on the hub so you can control your watering remotely anywhere you have internet access.
NOTE: remote access ONLY works if your hub has internet access! If the hubs internet connection goes belly up, you are SOL. This only affects YOU ACCESSING the hub and doing stuff. Whatever preexisting settings continue on as they are irrespective of whether the hub has internet access or not.
The hub uses Zigbee – yea, stop jumping up and down. It is ONLY used to interface with their devices. NO. It will not integrate with a Zigbee hub! Control is only through their app or their web site.
There are a bunch of things I REALLY like about this setup, but I’m not going to go through all of them.
#1 on my list is being able to see water flow: whether there is any and how much. We use dripper hoses which only flow about 2gph. Not nearly what an open faucet would flow so its easy to see if someone disconnected a hose. It also reassures my paranoid SO that water ACTUALLY IS flowing. 🙂
#2 email alerts for several things like too much flow, no flow. Not much interest if you’re at home, maybe, but I’m not down with blowing through 5000 gallons of water because we were gone for a week and the lawn guys ran over a hose with the mower.
#3 hub based with remote devices. The app/web site doesn’t talk directly to the devices. Which is very good for us since we have a weird shaped house. Wireless connectivity at the faucet is shaky at best. Bluetooth connectivity would be non existent. I located the hub in my office about in the middle of the house where I can supply it with uninterruptible power and internet and it gets 80% connectivity to the faucet which means it work perfectly 100% of the time.
#4 it is SUPER EASY to hook this to a POE (power over Ethernet) adapter and only have one wire running to my POE Ethernet switch supplying both internet and power (off my UPS). No wall wart! Another plus to this is it makes things considerably easier if you don’t have a power outlet where you want to put the hub. 🙂
#5 this setup is crazy expandable! Unfortunately, I already have a perfectly functional sprinkler system so a hub and one faucet is all I’ll probably ever need. But if I were putting in a new sprinkler system, I’d seriously consider this on a larger scale.
I strongly suggest looking at their web site and going though their docs. I couldn’t begin to give an adequate review of everything. I strongly recommend this over EVERYTHING else on amazon!
Incredibly easy to setup and get working
Our Gardena water computer had failed so was intending to replace like-for-like, but Amazon made me aware of this product. I decided to take the plunge as it looked feature rich, but with a little trepidation as often these Smarthome systems do not live up the promises.
I have installed a number of Smarthome systems in my house. Most involve significant fiddling around to get working – even my Hive heating system was a bit complex. By contrast, this is a doddle: the devices have a barcode on the back that you scan using the Link Tap app, and the app does the rest.
In terms of functionality, I like that the system allows me to setup as simple or complex watering schedules as I need. I also like the fact that the system has various automatic alarms built in (too low flow, too high low), and monitors overall water usage and therefore cost. The best feature is that the system can be programmed not to water if sufficient rain has occurred in the preceding days.
Best Smart Water Device
This is an excellent product. Using it for a few weeks now and can’t fault it. It’s easy to setup and install. Comes with a base unit that wires into your network and it pairs with one or more battery powered water timer control devices that attaches to your tap. It uses a private Zigbee network instead of wifi (like Philips Hue lights) so is very efficient on battery on the tap unit. It has a very flexible app that once you get used to it can be configured with whatever schedule want including links to the weather forecast to avoid watering on rainy days.
Best feature for me is that it links with Home Assistant which allows you to control and monitor water usage along with all your other smart devices.
The smart control of the tap is flawless with no leaks. It’s not the cheapest device but it is quality and better to pay a little more for quality than less for sub standard devices that only partially work.
I use to supply water to my irrigation system for my new flower beds and plan to get second tap put in and will be getting a second unit.
Highly recommend
Amazing Product/Excellent Customer Service
Use the product to be able to fully control my garden watering needs via an app anywhere in the world. Excellent product does what it says on the tin/I would fully recommend this product!. Also had Wi-Fi connection issues and their customer service (Jack) was amazing and sorted my issue out in no time. .
Jack..thank you so muchso glad I bought it!
Brilliant piece of ki
Super easy to install and setup. I had problems finding a timer which holds the wifi connection, and sent another brand back for this reason. This one is stable, reliable (so far), and a joy to use. Just ordered an extra, for the front of the house.
The best on the marke
Really good product and light years ahead of the others we considered. We purchased 2 units and one gateway to set up a watering schedule for a new lawn while we were away on holiday and it worked faultlessly. Very easy to set up and use, interface is a little busy but that’s because of the amount of available features but once you learn what you need and how to set up it’s a breeze to use. Would be a nice feature if it integrated natively with Google / Apple Home or Alexa. A+++
Failed under one year of purchase
Used for irrigation of plants. Link tap failed to pair with link gateway. No response from manufacturer. I have changed my review for this product after a quick replacement of the faulty unit. The replacement unit has been working perfectly for several months. I particularly like the app which gives plenty of control and feed back of water usage
So far so good
So far so good, one week in. It does exactly what it says on the tin, I’m hoping it proves itself reliable
Excellent!
I think I wanted to buy this initially, but as it was during covid, there didn’t seem to be any stock, so I ended up with another brand.
I know rechargeable batteries are not recommended, but it pains me to use disposable ones. The other brand’s controller was fine initially, but recently really started eating them up, hence the change.
This controller is brilliant, uses rechargeable batteries without issue and doesn’t drain them – I can easily believe the 2-year claim on regular batteries.
Initial connection and strength of connection is way better. Set-up of schedules is a bit more of a faff compared to my old controller, there is currently no sunrise/sunset option, but apparently this is coming.
The thing I like best though is the “skip watering” feature, works very well. The monitoring of flow is useful too, especially when you input your water rates giving you a rough cost of how much your spending. Very pleased so far.
Great product wish I’d bought one years ago
Very easy to install and get up and running. Loads of flexibility in terms of watering times and durations and notifications work well.
No more dead plants!
I was devising lots of alternatives, but I couldn’t come up with anything that is as feature-rich as this unit. So far it’s been a pleasure to use, reliable and my plants have got watered! The app could do with a bit of work as it’s not as intuitive as it could be, but overall I’m happy.
Good produc
I’ve had a few issues. The device signals were weak so I purchases a new air mesh to add to my router. The signals now are for the most part stable.
The only other issue I have is that one of my Link Tap devices is connected to a irrigation system which runs on 4mm pipe. So the reduced flow alert comes up when watering, so I suppose all said and done it’s doing it’s job.
Apart from that no other issues so far.
Very happy with the product.
Very smart watering
Possibly over-tech-enabled just to water the tomatoes but gives real control and data over internet and helps to reduce unnecessary watering
Good product.
Easy to setup but User Interface on the app is terrible. Unless you use it everyday you’ll have no idea what the many icons mean. As others suggested needs a re-design. Product is great though.
Brilliant solution for remote watering!
Professional product relatively easy to configure. Fitted it in conjunction with a hozelock irrigation system and it works a treat. Been using it for a couple of weeks and so far would highly recommend
A great tap valve
The G2S is a fantastic unit, It took minutes to get connected, is well built, I also have it connected to my Home-Assistant smart home controller as well as my phone. The tech support is 1st class too.
Just Brillia
Really pleased with this wireless water timer. It works seamlessly and does exactly what says it will. Very pleased.
Great water saving features
Very easy to use. Love the weather forecast checking and skipping watering depending on the forecast. One feature that I would suggest to improve is WiFi connectivity. The signal of the device doesn’t travel very far and you need LAN connection, so unless you have a LAN connection close to your garden it may not work.
Great product, easy to use.
Sturdy product and well designed. The app is easy to use and sophisticated enough for complex watering schedules. Setup was quick and painless!
Simple to use, safe and actually does more than it says!
Easy to install and the App which accompanies the LinkTap is outstanding. Its reliable, versatile and built to last. I highly recommend this product.
Great system
Excellent product so far, used it for 2 months. Easy to install and great app . Very flexible watering options and “skip if rain” has proved to be spot on so far.
Fabulous in every way
Great app, super control from anywhere in the world. The app makes this device amazing. Easy to use. The manual override button on the unit is perfect for day to day hose control when yo are around too.
Easy to set up and worked via iphone app.
Purchased for my parents as they are keen gardeners but are often away at weekends during the summer and need to water the garden. This seemed to be a better solution than a simply timer, which does not take account of recent rainfall.
Easy to set up, the gateway is near to the router in the front lounge and the tap controller is in the rear garden.
Unable to comment on battery life ye
Great customer service for a robust quality produc
The product is well built and easy to set up. I have left it on test before using next spring because I require the remote function reliability. All was well for over a month ,until last week and the unit failed to communicate. A warning was provided via an automated e-mail. As a result I went to the site and found the Gateway was showing it had not connected and 3 red LED’s were lit up instead of the 3 green LED’s. I tried various combinations of turning on router, disconnecting cables etc. No Joy. I contacted their help service on a Saturday night and to my surprise received a reply from Jack. Jack offered to send a new Gateway however eventually we found the fault to be the plug in charger.
Once replaced it works very well.
This is the reason for the 5 star review. There was an issue and it was resolved by great customer service.
I fully recommend this product and as is unusual for internet sales a fantastic service.
You can buy with confidence, thoroughly recommended.
I am confident Jack will replace the faulty item because I am using an alternative charger from an Andriod phone.
Impressed.
Wow. Impressed. Well designed, technical, innovative… and does the trick. I will be buying more of these. Push notification selection is diverse, but good. Choices are good. Flow rate calc – wow. You clever bunch of techy guys. The app – awesome. I’m a big fan of garden irrigation and this BLOWS hozelock old fangled water timers away… by 100 light years. N.B. No. I’m not being paid or sponsored by LinkTap (wish I was). P.s. pls can I be your ambassador!
Works a treat!
Had the unit installed for just under a week and it’s working great! I’ve set up a daily schedule with a rain delay and it is very accurate. I also like the alerts that I get to tell me when the unit is running and stops, very clever!!
Life save
The unit is great, the app is great. Its better than I expected it to be.
A doddle to set up
I have only recently installed this item. It was very straightforward to install and I had no problems using the IOS app to register the item and supplied hub. Everything worked first time and it was up and running in 10 minutes. The app has extensive functionality and it was easy to programme an initial irrigation schedule and to to run initial tests through the app. I am really pleased I bought the linktap.
Great Produc
This water timer is easy to set up and use. The wireless capability is fantastic. No need to leave the comfort of the sofa to water the grass. My timer has been added to a Claber irrigation system and it works perfectly. There are some neat warnings in case it stops working ie. loss of signal. Overall I’m really happy with this purchase and looking forward to setting the auto function up soon.
Great product.
Easy to set up and use. Perfect for watering greenhouse plants whilst on holiday and being able to set/edit schedules and have full control whilst away.
I tested it out for a week before going on holiday and it worked a treat.
Flow rate monitor is great – you know exactly how much water you are using and can adjust duration accordingly.
Great product.
Great produc
Easy to install, much cheaper that the Gardena one we use and a better app to support. Well made as well
Great product that works well, mobile UI needs a little work
I have three of these running to control different parts of the garden and they are all working well, and the flexibiltiy of the watering modes combined with the skip-when-raining is great. Setup was easy and signal strength doesn’t appear to be a problem despite a couple of walls in the way. One thing that hopefully improves is the mobile app, as while it is functional it can be confusing to navigate and does look a little dated.
Great product - does everything you need it to.
I brought this to run 2 timers for plants and a pond. The timers work as needed a few times a day. I can turn on as needed remotely and it’s weather aware.
East set up, silent operation and lots of features
Battery is still showing as 100% in the app after a month of use.
Very well made
East set up
Outstanding App and machine
I bought this a few weeks ago and so far it’s been great. Maybe early days of course but so far all good in every aspec
LInkTap is an excellent quality product with fantastic online suppo
Quality and build of the product backed up with a very capable phone app makes this a no brainer not to mention the efficient use of water. The alerting is also top notch.
Yes I am very happy with the quality and performance of my LinkTap.
Background to purchase:
—————————–
I have a problem with cats/foxes soiling our back yard and wanted a humane way of discouraging them.
Hence we purchased an Orbit Yard Enforcer – a sprinkler watering system that is triggered by movement. This blasts water and frightens the critters away very successfully.
However, this device started leaking water which made it not viable for use due to water wastage!
So I shopped around and found your amazing LinkTap which I was able to use with the Orbit Yard Enforcer to reduce water wastage!
As far as feature improvements go, I would like your support team to put an option in the LinkTap app to start watering immediately as there is currently a 15 second delay in triggering LinkTap.
This would help me enormously as the you can appreciate the animals could do their damage in that time.
I am very happy with my purchase of this quality product and know my usage of the LinkTap may be unconventional but it is working for me and hope you can take my suggestion on board.
Response from Jack in LinkTap Customer Support:

Hi Victor,
Thank you so much for explaining the use scenario and your kind support!
“currently a 15 second delay in triggering LinkTap”: The default TapLinker sleep mode is “Power Save mode” in which the 15 seconds is applied. The other option is called “Performance mode” in which the sleep duraion is 5 seconds. If you log into the app, go to “Gateway Details” page, scroll down, you will see the “TapLinker Sleep Mode” section where you can choose the “Performance mode”.
Best Regards,
Jack

I had an immediate resolution for speeding up LinkTap’s reaction once triggered via Amazon Alexa Routine. This has saved me buckets of water and given me peace of mind.
Peace of mind plant care
Have this product to look after our bonsai trees that we’ve grown from a nut, the walnut is 45 years old.
Tap Link is just the job for us as were away a lot.
It was easy to set up and on the whole it works well with the weather forecasts although the weather forecasts can’t always be trusted.
The hardest thing to set up was getting more than one watering event on the same day it’s a bit confusing as you can have multiple day settings.
Customer support were very good sent me the manual which gives more detail and I have set up my three events.
I found setting up the costs and knowing how much water is being delivered very helpful.
I recommend this product as at the moment working very well.
I dropped a star on Easy to Use because setting up the multiple events is a bit confusing.
My daughter on seeing mine has now got one and is watering her whole garden and his over the moon with hers and i was able to guide her through the set up.
LIKE the idea of batteries as would have been difficult putting in a mains supply to the unit.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Absolutely brillia
Fantastic bit of kit, setup was very easy, and the device itself is robust and looks smart in grey.
I have 2 link taps connected to the gateway and have been running for 3 weeks without any issue.
I was worried about it falling off the tap or the hose connector coming off and water flooding an area but the app has alarms built in for different potential scenarios which is great. I tested them all and they work perfectly.
For example I water the front garden and it shows me in real time how many litres per minute is flowing (this was cool!), say 1.8 lpm for some drip feeders but you can set an alarm so if it say went to 15 lpm (you set this value) because the hose had come off then you would be alerted. As I said I tested this and it worked well.
The unit takes AA batteries and after 3 weeks is still showing 99% battery remaining so no issues with battery life.
Excellent product that's powerful and easy to setup
Having invested in a micro-irrigation system for our garden this was the final missing piece we were looking for.
I’ve now installed two timers against the one gateway and have a fully automated watering system in place. Activating the timers and setting up the gateway was easy and the app works well too. I like the eco mode and the rain skip feature has come in handy several times over the past month. Really impressed with the variety of safety features to detect and alert on a malfunctioning setup.
We’ve also got it integrated with our Google Home Assistant which is useful for when you want a manual top watering top-up. A note on that: if you have more than one timer this didn’t seem to work until we had a schedule created and as I find it quite clunky to use the overly verbose activation phrases I’d recommend creating a much shorter and more convenient custom Google Home routine.
Bottom line: it’s a great piece of kit that works well.
Feature rich, surprisingly easy to set-up & solves lots of the anxiety with watering controllers
I’ve had watering timers for the last 20 odd years and usually come to the conclusion you never spend very much as you’ll always end up leaving one out in the frost (even a light one!) and it’s done for. Or have come home to find either the device has popped off the tap some how, or a watering pipe connection has come undone. Or your plants get over watered in rainy cloudy weather and underwater when it’s super hot.
I’ve usually got over all of these stressed by using the self contained solar watering devices for some years, but they can only deal with a small amount of plants, but they do vary the amount of water based on weather, water very, very slowly so watering is way more economical and effective…. and they don’t need to go on a tap, so no flooding stress.
So I’m rather surprised the clever people at LinkTap have thought through all of these issues and if there can be a feature or setting, then it’s on this device!
Set-up, i.e. connecting to your network and the device connection was really very simple, and so long as you know where your router is, have a spare ethernet socket and can find power (or a USB socket for power) then your sorted. Really you just plug in two connections. Then put the batteries in the LinkTap and you are done.
Download the app, set-up your user account and you are good to go!
Setting the timer schedules wasn’t super straight forward (but I didn’t read the manual from here on, so it can’t have been that bad!)…. but I was rather pleased with it being a bit complicated, because there were so many options and settings. I particularly liked these options:
Eco mode, you can set the device to switch off the water to for intervals when watering to allow plenty of time for the water to soak in…. this is like my odd solar watering system very slow watering so you hardly get drips from hanging baskets, means you can turn down the volume of water.
Rain skip, you might be lucky on other devices if they have a sensor, but this actually uses local weather stations and you can specify how many millimetres of rain before it skips a watering, or how many are predicted to skip and over what time period. So none of the embarrassing sprinklers going with storm clouds approaching.
Loved all the statistics on the volume (and cost!) of water, per day/week/watering.
Looking forward to sharing the device control with my neighbour while away (you can invite two other users to the device).
The device was a gift from a friend, as I’ve mentioned above it seemed way to expensive to purchase on something I might leave out in the frost, but it’s been so good at getting everything right and sending me messages when things don’t work, I’m going to get a second for the front of the house. But it will send you a warning when frost is expected.
Overall this device is very well made, solid, easy to set-up and I’ve only just started working through all the settings. Only thing it doesn’t do is connect to HomeKit, but I can live with that. I feel a ‘narna asking Siri to do anything.
Yes it’s expensive, but you can spend this much (and more!) on an expensive Clabber or Gardena device and still not be able to programme from the comfort of your phone and get notification of things going wrong.
Just hoping unlike other devices over the years this survives more than a few years… certainly with the cost it will be coming inside, dried careful way, way before it gets to warn me of a frost!
An absolutely brilliant produc
This is an amazing product. I have two Gateways (one in Scotland and one in Italy) and a total (at the moment) of 7 Tap-linkers. Our house in Italy is in the middle of nowhere and we have satellite internet. The garden tap is a good 100m from the house (and Gateway) but the Tap-Linker connects effortlessly. When not in the middle of a prolonged drought resulting in water shortages (such that watering the garden or filling a natural swim pond for an unoccupied house is unacceptable) I can water the garden or top up the pool as required from home in Scotland.
I am a little surprised by the review suggesting that the Gateway is terrible as we have never had any problems at all with either of our setups, despite not having the best internet, and in Scotland, living in a house that has several internet blank spots despite our best efforts with boosters all over the place.
The garden here is large and, for my sins, I have an an enormous collections of perennials, shrubs and fruit trees and bushes growing in pots. I currently have 4 Tap-linkers connected to one tap (see photo) and 2 to another. I am planning to increase the number of tap linkers so that, in time, I can cover all areas of the garden, using small linking sections of hose and further tap-splitters.
Using tap-splitters alone for my garden was useless as the water pressure drops as soon as more than one hose is used and I couldn’t cover any more of the garden than I could with just one hose and the widest area sprinkler I could find. With Tap-Linker I can cover all the different areas turning each individual area sprinkler on and off as required. This can either be done ‘as and when’ required or timing schedules for each hose (identified by different colours in the app) can be set up very easily. The latest version of the Tap-linker also has an immediate on/off button on the front which allows watering to be started and stopped without needing to use the app.
So now I can walk to the furthest area of my garden with the hose empty, turn the hose on when I get there and turn it off again when I am finished. Or I can position a sprinkler, turn on watering with the app and check that the distribution area is correct, without having to walk all the way back and forward to the tap multiple times as I had to do previously. Watering all my pots, the poly tunnel, greenhouse and the rest of the garden (if it was very dry) used to take absolutely ages. Now I can get on with more interesting things while Link-Tap takes care of (most of) my watering. I also do not have to water automatically when I am away which in Scotland is extremely important, as it is perfectly possible (indeed highly likely if I am also holidaying in Scotland) that no watering will be required.
I must also say a word for the Customer Service from Link-Tap. When originally setting up our system I had a few issues (entirely due to my own stupidity) and I got almost instant and extremely friendly and helpful replies from link-tap.com despite the difference in time zones.
Altogether this is a wonderful system. It is not cheap, but if you are a keen gardener and have spent a great deal of time and money on your garden, it is well worth it, to make watering so much easier and to ensure that your precious plants will not die of thirst when you are absent.
Good and reliable time
Really happy with this purchase. It works well and is much more responsive than the pervious wireless timer I had. It was pretty easy to set up as well. I have noticed it reduces the water pressure slightly but that’s the only negative thing I can say about i
Very effective watering and skipping when not needed
It was easy to install. The app may seem a bit dated but seemed effective. I like the way it works out whether it has rained or about to and saves water by skipping that cycle.
Great. Excellent WiFi range and product suppo
This is a great product. The WiFi range is excellent. Our tap is on the other side of the house to the gateway, via solid granite walls and it work faultlessly.
The support via the app/email is also excellent. They answered my questions within 30 minutes and their answers were very helpful.
Installation was easy and worked first time.
Functionality of the app is good, with settings to stop watering if it has/will rain and problem notifications such as high flow/low flow or tap fallen off.
The gateway power lead is a bit short but they are readily available on Amazon.
Overall a very good product.
Great Customer Service
This is a review regarding the LinkTap I purchased. I know it looks a long review but please read till the end. When I set up the (LT) after about four days it was saying that I needed to replace the batteries of which I did then the new batteries lasted about the same time. Then I received an email from Jack who works at (LT) Customer Service asking me how the item I had purchased was working. I then sent an email back to informed him of the battery issue I was having and he then asked me to run a few simple checks so he could look into this problem I was having and after a couple of days Jack came back to me saying he had found a fault with the (LT) and asked me to send my information to him so he could get me out a new replacement (FOC). Within a few days this arrived in the email Jack sked me to run another test when this was installed and this one was running perfectly. Overall the customer service I have received from Jack at (LT) was excellent. This is why I have now given a FIVE Star review to this item and the customer service that has came with it.
Just so you know this item is running perfectly at the moment.
Great Customer Service Jack.
Great water time
Found the initial set up of the watering program a bit confusing but now it’s going fine. Rain skip is a nice feature that works well. Have now bought a second time to control greenhouse.
Simple to use - nice features
The product is really good. The app is simple to use, and the “skip watering” if there is rain is really useful (especially with the weather we are having at the moment)
Water saving sprinkler controlle
Bought the “LinkTap” very recently so this is an early review, consequently have no idea how long the batteries last. It was extremely easy to setup and I needn’t have worried that my WiFi router was too far away (after all the tap is in the garden!). The Gateway as supplied takes care of that. The link to the rain forecast, missing out a day if raining, is brilliant. It even tells you how much water you have used and you can still be in control whilst away from home.
Excellent device
I have 3 of these now and I find them excellent.
Pricey but quite efficient.
This was a replacement for a zGardena one, which let us down owing to bad battery life, so I am hoping that this one will live up to expectations!
It was easy to install, very easy to use, gave info when watering started and stopped, even let us know it didn’t need to water as it had rained! Very good, as we’re using it thousands of miles away!
Works well
Good range – better than its Orbit competitor. Set up best I’ve seen but still needs work on interface. Will use more of these rather than others I have.
Highly recommended item for the forgetful waterer.
I have had this for two years, in winter I take it off as makes no sense, I would buy this again and highly recommend it, the only thing I had to find out was it needs 2.4ghz WiFi to work. I had one issue and support was excellent, very helpful and replaced my broken receiver quickly. Mine runs multiple schedules and if it is forecast to rain it pauses the schedule. Battery life is excellent too. How would I know! I had another brand previously and they promised yearly changes but three weeks boom! In two years I have changed once. So as I said highly recommended. My garden looks great and I am a lazy gardener.
Really nice product but app could do with some attentio
Been using it for a couple of weeks now and.
Pros
Pretty easy to install
Great features
Cons
The app really needs redesigning. It has all you need but it’s not logically or neatly laid out. It takes a time to work out where the functions you need are (and I am a technical user). Needs an interface redesign and rethink on the user experience.
Love i
Very easy to install and the app works a treat. Very versatile and gives me peace of mind when I am away from the house that the plants are being watered at he right times.
Fantastic water time
I have other water timers before but this beats them all. It’s a quality made product and easy to install. What makes it outstanding is the wifi connection via the app. The best feature is the rain delay feature just brilliant. The app only waters your garden when it’s does not rain as it checks your local weather forecast. I can only recommend this product.
Reliable and compatible
Really. Exactly what smart water timer should be. No fuss and straight forward. Really good Wireless range compare to my previous ones.
For a single-stream watering timer that can be controlled remotely via and Android or iPhone app, this product seems excellent. It also copes with higher water pressures, which some timers do not. I cannot vouch for how long it will function (previous experience suggests you are lucky if you get two seasons out of a timer). Also, as it is set up in a greenhouse, I cannot say how weatherproof it is. I would have preferred a timer that could control two watering streams independently. It would also be useful to have a display panel on the timer, providing basic information about the next watering time, etc. What I would like to find now is a pipe and jointing system that does not leak – I have found it very difficult to get Hozelock system connected without a few persistent drips.
I had been looking at this device over a year ago but wanted to get garden irrigation plumbing complete first. Since I last looked , from the G1 , the G2 and G2S have since been released. There may be others versions available.
I have a splitter tap who’s output uses Hozelock connectors as opposed to a standard tap threaded screw, but this was no problem to install. Link Tap provide all the necessary connectors.
Set up was straight forward and in less than 10 minutes I was up and running. This is a easy to use and very fleible device allowing a number of schedules, calendar based, time based, rain skipping features, leak detection etc..
I would have given Ease of Use 5 stars however :
– The app isn’t as slick as it could be . I use Android and it feels a little ‘frst days of mobile apps’ rather than a truly engaging User Interface
– The Smarthome integration could be better. I use Google Home and I can’t ask it to turn on the Sprinkler. It’s like a 3rd party type of integration when you have to say ‘Hey Google, ask Link Tap to turn on for 5 minutes’. There is a workaround to thie using IFTTT but true native integration could be better.
– I have had the device for 3 weeks but it’s too early for me to review the battery life.
But I’m not complaining. This is easy to use. Easy to install and maintain. Family friendly and you forget it’s there. I just see blooming flowers growing far better than last year. Definetly would recommend this.
Link Tap if you’re listening.. Please consider developing a multi output device – We all have diffferent beds and borders we want to water. You have many competitors out there, but this would be seperating yourself from the competition.
G2-S bought a week ago. Really impressed with both the timers and the gateway. Setting them up is very easy. I have the networked gateway set up in a bedroom upstairs with 2 timers at the front and 1 at the back of the house. There is a WiFi signal strength test in the app which tells me that all 3 timers have a very good signal. Setting the watering times is also very easy. The app records how much water is used each day and also records a running total. Watering times can be fine tuned to the minute so you don’t waste by over watering. You can set up email alerts for restricted flow, extra flow, and even if the timer falls off its perch. You also get an alert when the timers start and stop each time. Amazing really the technology inside them. They are expensive but they are above and beyond the normal consumer unit that I have previously used. The app works on an iPhone, M1 Mac and although an app is not available for an iMac, the timers can be controlled via the web, which is identical to the app. The timers take 4 x AA batteries and there is a low battery alarm. The makers reckon they should last 2 years. I’m very pleased I bought this kit.
actual epic water timer! get it right now
his water timer is actually the best one I have ever used, I can finally water my garden in one press on the app. this timer has like a trillion features, my favourite is the chain watering one. its not in any of the other water timers I have tried, and I have tried a lot. I have 6 of these linktaps and it is so easy to program them it literally takes like 1 minute.
but if I just need to start watering I can literally just press the manual button on the timer or the app it is so cool. apparently it has this digital lockout thing so I can just lock it so no one can press it while I’m away. also I get notification when the manual button has been pressed on my phone or something from anywhere.
everyone get this water timer right now its worth every penny you will not regret it it is actually epic.
The hardware feels really well built and it was surprisingly easy to set up. The only thing that lets this down however is the iOS app has clearly been designed by the developer. If you had a UI/UX expert design a new interface for this app that was actually intuitive and functional then this could be a 10/10 product. Please, if the manufacturers are reading this – invest in a new user interface!
