I purchased this to highlight the edge of my garden decking, where it meets the lawn. I was lucky in that the width of my deck is 5m. Exactly the same as the light strip. However, beware that the length can neither be shortened or extended so think and measure carefully before investing. While you can’t cut this strip you could place two end to end. However, the cable is fitted to one end and so you would have to place the opposite ends together and think carefully about routing the wiring. The product also has two waterproof boxes (a transformer and a connector) which, in my view, should be wall-mounted nearby (theres a decent length of cable) to keep them away from sprinklers etc.

Fixing was quite easy directly on to the timber joist/facia on the underside edge of the decking. ‘U’ brackets are provided. The light strip has two grooves along its length which locate into lugs on the bracket. Fixing directly to brick or a hard surface may prove more challenging, but the light strip is very flexible and squishy.

The effect is great. I use the Philips Hue Lab feature (available in the app) to create a slow colour-change.

Initially I questioned the cost, but it does look good and i’m pleased that I invested in it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust be careful as mine is already broken because the foxes decided to play with it so now doesn’t work.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIf you’ve already got an outdoor power supply then the Philips Hue system is incredibly easy. All the components seem to be really well made and high quality, best of all they look amazing! Using the app you can choose from millions of colours and plenty of preset scenes. If you buy the 100w psu you can also run 2 of the strips from the same power source, as I’ve done. Highly recommended!

    Fantastic but not cheap.....

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve had these for a while in my garden, at first, they were fixed to fences and spread around my garden. Recently I put some spotlights in and at the same time moved these light strips around.

I have my flower beds edged with stone so now have the strips right on the edge of the stone and all running next to each other, the lights look so much better together like this

Strips are very flexible, and I use tent pegs to support them where needed.

A couple of issues with them, the power supply length is not very long, so do a search on Amazon you can find 5M generic extensions cables. I think you can use at least 2 of these chained together but worth checking.

The second issue is the power supplies which have been mentioned in another review. I have had 2 go since August, in both cases I called Hue up and after a serial number check for the warranty was sent a new one. There was a bit of delay on the 2nd one and I had to chase, but put that down to Covid chaos.—

They are of course expensive as it all Hue stuff, but its good quality and support in the case of the outdoor strips, will be getting a few more to finish my garden off in 2021
