Bulbs are an absolute nightmare these days, it’s so hard to find that warm glow of the old incandescent bulbs. Phillips have certainly managed it here, they’re nice and bright if that’s what you need but if you want that warm glow that’s easy to achieve with a dimmer. The more you dim the warmer the light they say and this is so true.

I’ve tried many different GU 10’s at this stage and for me these offer the best range of illumination. They reach the lowest lux levels of any of the ones I’ve tried and are still bright at the upper level. Very happy with them

I didn’t ever think that you could match a halogen bulb with both brightness, warmth and dimming functionality. This philips bulb although it is not cheap, is easily as bright if not brighter than the halogens I replaced them with. They give off the same warmth and have very wide angle beam. The dimming function didn’t work so well with my dimmer. They would dim but the bulb would not turn off completely. Not sure why as the dimmer works fine with a halogen but not so good with this. It works fine with the standard fittings though. I would recommend these as halogen replacements.

Finally I have found some GU10 LEDs that genuinely compare with the old halogen ones in terms of softness when they’re on dimmer settings. Really struggle with the bright, office like glare of most LEDs but these are lovely and bright when turned up too.

I love these bulbs and use across our apartment with and without dimmers. Compared to the equivalent candle bulbs the colour temp doesn’t get warmer until a bit dimmer. They last reasonably, given the cost, but one has just failed catastrophically on me, tripping a breaker and releasing a strong smell like a used party popper – I initially thought my house was about to burn down!

Brilliantly energy efficient. I replaced 11 x 50W halogen bulbs in bathroom with 11 of these and the power saving is huge. 44W instead of 550W. They are exactly the same colour, brightness & fully dimmable. Of all dimmable bulbs Phillips seems to be well regarded. I’m very happy with these bulbs.

Update May 2021 – contacted Philips and they sent replacements.

I bought two packs of these bulbs, paying the premium for Philips as the other 50+ LED’s I have from philips are all working perfectly. These ones were never as bright as I expected a 50w to be, and then after two years of use, they have all started flickering and then failing. They didn’t all fail at the same time, its taken about three months for all of them to go. Very disappointed, especially considering the brand and the claim by Philips their LED bulbs should last for fifteen years or more.

All bulbs flickering and then failing after just 2 years - all replaced by Philips

I bought these to replace some Toshiba e-Core LED lamps that I have had for the last ~15 years. Nothing wrong with the Toshibas per-se, but their older technology made them flicker and buzz when dimmed which wasn’t ideal. These appear to be much better, and will dim all the way down to a very soft glow without any noise or flicker.

The only surprise (and not an unpleasant one) was the very warm colour temperature. I wanted something warm, but this will be perhaps just a touch too far for many people. I like them personally and they work well in my lounge. But for those people who want to mimic a halogen bulb, they might want to consider something at around 3000k rather than these at 2700k.

All in all, I’m very happy with them.

These dim really well for the kids bedroom. The builder put some other ones in a different brand and from day one they flickered soooo bad. Then they’ve been in just over a year and are failing! They never dimmed properly and I complained and the dimmer was changed. No difference!!!! Finally got these new bulbs and wow they actually DIM! they do dim to a very very warm orange kind of glow which looks odd coming from a bright white light.
Highly recommend these if you want a light that really does dim down.

I replaced some ceiling fittings which came with six older Philips bulbs, they were connected to an existing dimmer sold as suitable for LEDs, however it flickered with the old (8 years) bulbs. Rather than replace the dimmer I took a 20 punt on these bulbs, and they work really well, very stable dimming and almost inaudible buzzing levels at low light levels. They also change colour temperate as they dim, going from full on bright white to read or do stuff, down to a warm golden glow.

Light feels nice an warm, nicer than many 2700K LEDs out there. I don’t really like the narrow angle (36 degrees is pretty much a flashlight rather than lighting!) but it works for specific corner where they are installed. I wish Philips did 100-120 degrees LEDs as well.

Note that not all bulbs were created equal in the same box. Some stop dimming at around 20-25%, while other go lower, maybe 10% (they are on the same dimmer).

I’m a bit nervous about how well led dimmable bulbs work. I need not have worried with these. They work just as well as the old standard dimmable bulbs giving a full range of brightness without flicker. Although I have given 5 stars for longevity though as they’ve only been installed for a month I don’t know. I’m inclined to say I trust Phillips having never had problems wit their bulbs compared with cheaper brands claiming the same longevity and being useless after less than a year. Note despite the claims on cheaper bulbs, they never guarantee they will work this long. These Phillips bulbs are also very compact, much shorter than many low energy LED bulbs. Very pleased with the warm light for the bedroom and despite being very low energy they give the same light as old 50W bulbs.

These warm LED bulbs save money in the long run. But you’ll buy more of them. They don’t last as long as they full fat and hot 50 watt philips ones but those will cost you more in electricity. My old full fat ones lasted ages before they all went pop. Rebuying LED ones again I see that 3 of the 6 in the kitchen have lasted under a year of average use. However, they run cool, save you money on electricity, and give a nice warm light, not at all like the awful bluish tinge from standard LED ones which give a cold light.
So I’m buying again, and on balance would recommend you do too.

When LEDs first came on the market, it took me years to find a REAL Warm White dimmable (which were made by GE). When I came to needing to replace old halogens again this time, the GE’s were end-of-life and I had to spend time ordering and returning bulbs until I found there Philips which are actually as good as the old halogen ‘warm white’ bulbs. As the tech sheet states, they get ‘warmer’ with lower (dimmed) power. Perfect.

Bought these to put in a ceiling light fitting with 4 bulbs, connected to a dimmer switch. Bulbs are bright, brighter than I expected. They dim very well, making no noticeable hum, and in fact less than some halogens connected to a different knob on the same light switch. As the description says, they are warm white, and for me a little too warm, I prefer a more neutral white, but these only seem to come in warm white. Dimmers vary, so I may have been lucky with the compatibility of mine.

I wanted to change the 11 spot light bulbs in my kitchen, but I am not a fan of the LED day light bulbs. These are great, warm white as detailed and they give a lovely warm effect. Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood reasonably priced 50w halogen replacement. The Warm Glow feature lowers the colour temperature of this bulb when dimmed, to mimic the classic colours and warm light of halogen bulbs when they are dimmed. The high CRI of 90 on this bulb quite accurately renders colours (the spec is wrong, as per Philips website this bulb has 90 CRI). Although when the bulb is off it doesn’t look as good as a halogen (no visible mirror reflectors), this is a good replacement compared to other low CRI bulbs without a similar feature to warm glow.

These lamps produce a great light probably equivalent to conventional 35W halogen. The colour is warm and the light distribution is very even across the beam angle. The front face is plastic not glass and the appearance is not that attractive. Not sure I’d use them in fully exposed spot lights. Great in recessed down lights though as long as you don’t mind the front face looking a bit unusual. Can’t comment on the life yet as they’ve only just gone in. Runs very cool even at full output.

Replaced some 7w dimmable bulbs (already had a proper LED dimmer) with these 5w bulbs. These are almost as bright at full power, but much much dimmer at low power, and the “warm glow” feature really works nicely. In the photo, they went so dim, that the phone camera flashed (2nd from left) and you can see the orangey colour.
The old ones were great but would not go dim enough for a relaxing meal.
    Photos from left:
    1 – dim without flash
    2 – dim with flash
    3 – medium
    4 – bright.
Old LEDs were “Goodwin” brand but I can’t find them online; the electrician installed them. So far we’re keeping the other row, which is over the worktop. The warm white colour matches with these at full brightness, ie no obvious mismatch.
Beam maybe slightly more focussed / narrower than the others; this works fine in our kitchen.

The big issue with LED bulbs is the dim-ability. Many say they are dimmable but for most the lowest dimmed point is about 80% of full brightness – not much good. These bulbs dim to a reasonable 40% or so, which is the best I’ve found.

These are the first LED spot lights that I had that actually work. No flicker when dimmed. No strobe light effect. The warm tine actually gets warmer when dimmed unlike other LESs where the tone of the light just goes ‘greyer’ (even if they are warm white to start with).

These have a better dimmable range and even better warm colour than the original incandescent bulbs. They even seem to clip into their sockets better. So apart from doing the job properly it uses a lot less power and as a handy side effect it also got rid of the slight the buzzing noise coming from the dimmer switch at certain levels.

Golden Review Award: 39 From Our UsersI’ve had dimmable LED bulbs before and have always ended up with that sort of PWM flicker when they’re dimmed. I’m really sensitive to it so when I’ve had other bulbs I never dimmed them as they’d give me a headache. These are the first ones I’ve used that have ZERO perceptible flicker.

They seem to be a bit warmer than other 2700k bulbs I’ve used, but it’s a nice light similar to halogen, and when you dim them the fact that they go down to a warmer 2200k is a really nice feature. Much cosier feeling than other LED bulbs I’ve used.

Brightness is consistent across all bulbs aswell, and they’re very bright despite only being rated around 350 lumens. I’ve got 10 downlights in a 20 sq.m room and I’ve got them set to around 70% most of the time.

Couple downsides – the LED’s seem to be all in the centre of the bulb – so you get a brighter centre and then the edge of the bulbs are basically unlit. I’d prefer a more even spread of light when looking at the bulbs (how often do you really look at your ceiling though). The beam angle of 36 degrees also seems a bit shallower than my previous bulbs, even though they were also rated the same. Not a massive difference, but it’s there. CRI isn’t perfect, and seem to make red stuff pop out a lot. Wouldn’t recommend these if you’re lighting up some artwork.

For a lounge, bedroom, or bathroom though these are great. Nearly identical results to halogen bulbs but at 10% the energy cost.

Been looking for dimmable lamps that don’t cost silly money. These are great, same colour as usual halogens, they are dimmable although when I changed all 12 they did stutter at low level, probably because the load on the dimmer was too small, I put 2 normal
Halogens back in and everything works fine and you can’t really tell the difference

For me, these are the new gold standard in dimmable LED bulbs. The colour really does become warmer as they dim, simulating what we expect of dimmed lighter from incandescent bulbs. Dimmed right down to nothing on my standard switch (as opposed to some bulbs which have flickered or shut off before becoming very dim).

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersI spent a long time researching LED lightbulbs because it seems to be a bit of a minefield… I was looking for bulbs to replace some bright, halogen spotlights in my flat, which has higher than average ceilings. I’ve found that having installed these bulbs, they give off a rather dim, warm glow, probably in line with a traditional 40W incandescent bulb, whereas I was hoping for something closer to a 60W+ brightness as the main source of light for the room.

Pay attention to the lumens value of these bulbs (350lm), which is significantly lower than the cheap 427lm bulbs from Sainsbury’s that I was replacing. I’ve since re-ordered some bulbs with a less yellow colour temperature (3000k rather than 2700k) and a higher lumens rating (500lm), which I’m hoping will give me the bright light I’m hoping for.

Bought to replace Screwfix LAP dimmable end of catalog GU10 LEDs that didn’t have the range of diming required for a home cinema. These have a great range, can be dimmed to a background glow ideal of cinema.

Great product and superior to other similar items on here.
These bulbs are dimmable to zero output with conventional dimmer switches.

Great bulbs, just what I wanted. Took me several attempts to get right bulbs. A learning process for me, led v halogen and dimmable v non-dimmable.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThese Philips WarmGlow GU10s are excellent light bulbs. I’ve spent many years buying different LED bulbs with a huge variation in success. I’m fussy about the light quality that these bulbs produce, and have an aversion to poor quality lighting (colour temperature and CRI). I’ve used various Philips GU10 LEDs in multiple properties for a number of years, and apart from an early generation of 4W MasterLEDs (which all failed within 2 years), the reliability of the later generation bulbs has been excellent (as high as 98% ok after 2 years). I tried these WarmGlow variants in our hallway — a run of 10 bulbs on a dimmer, and am impressed to say the least. On maximum, they are bright, but not harsh (a true warm white, with no hint of the cold/ghost lighting that some earlier LEDs produced), and I’d say they are perfect for an inviting, homely feeling. When dimmed, then it gets really good — as the bulb is dimmed, the colour temperature decreases, giving a much warmer, softer glow — perfect for evenings. We generally leave the bulbs at around 80%, even in the daytime. I’m really pleased with these (you can probably tell), and at 19.99 for 6, will certainly be using more in the future. I don’t work for Philips, and paid for my bulbs in full.

These are the primary LED blubs I use in living areas of our house. They seems to have a greater number of dimming steps than other blubs and the colour at low diming levels is warm.
I only wish they came with a slightly wider throw (more than the 36 degrees)
