I ordered this because I have been looking into ways to become healthier and one of these is water. You need to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day I think. I’ve never really been able to drink water but I have forced myself over the last few months and I’ve also added fruit into my water bottle to help the taste. Since looking into being healthier I’ve been reading alot and I have learnt that chemicals are added to our water. Some chemicals are safe and while others are deemed safe they can actually hurt us. Flouride is one of these chemicals and it is added to water. Reading up I noticed that some areas add it and some don’t just as some countries do. Since seeing this I’ve wanted to know what is in my water and to get it tested by a laboratory is just not something I can afford so this testing kit was perfect for me. You get 100 testing strips and they are stored inside a tub. The tub has all the information you need and the instructions on the out side. The tub comes with a foil seal so it’s kept fresh and not contaminated. You need to store them in a cool dry and dark place and once opened they will last for 2 years. On the outside of the box you also have all the information as well as a chart with all the chemicals and the safe and not safe colours the strips can turn. There’s a total of 16 different elements on the test strips such as hardness, free chlorine, copper, lead, total alkalinity and the pH. Its really interesting. You get a glass of water and put the test strip in the water for 2 seconds and then remove. Do not shake the excess water off and then wait for between 15 to 60 seconds for the test to develope. The strip has little squares and these will show up in different colours. You then look at the chart on the box and on the tub and you see what your strip is showing it shows the colours that are ok and then the ones that are not. It’s ever so simple to use and you can’t really go wrong. I tested mine out with tap water and tap water that had been through a brita water filter jug. They came out very similar but there was a difference in some of them. I’m not sure if this means the strios do t work well or that my water is pretty good. I think its the latter. With it being 100 strips and them being OK to use for 2 years I think you have more than enough and that its a good price considering if you had to send your water away. The price to send water samples for testing is eye watering and with all that’s happening with our economy and price hikes who can afford to do that. This is a great alternative and you know the results are real because you’ve done it yourself. I’m really happy with this and would recommend definitely.

    So useful to have

I will start by saying that I don’t use these for drinking water alone but also as a quick check for my aquarium. For this purpose, they are giving me results which are comparable to the more expensive solution drop tests I have used previously.

To use you need to dunk the whole strip into a water sample and then remove after 2 seconds. Without shaking the strip, you then need to read the results for all but nitrites and nitrates around 15 seconds later. For nitrites and nitrates you need to wait 60 seconds before taking the reading. These instructions are on the box but are different to the description instructions.

Having seen some of the other reviews saying the results are the same regardless of water type, I also did a test with tap water. As the image I have attached shows, the results are different for many readings and similar for others (this is to be expected to be honest).

One thing I don’t like it that the strips are longer than the label on the side of the tube. This makes quickly identifying the results a lot harder than it should be. This is made even harder as there is nothing on the strip to indicate which side it the top. I expected it to be the side with the long blank part, but this resulted in some results being a different colour to those on the tube. Reading from the bottom up gave sensible results.

Overall a good quick test of water, giving results in 15 seconds for most readings and a minute for others. I can’t give 5 stars though as reading the results is harder than it needs to be.

Quick test of water quality - ideal for an aquarium

This pack of 100 drinking water test strips provide a simple method of checking drinking water quality, identifying hardness, chlorine, copper, nitrates etc via a series of coloured blocks, similar to urine test strips. Dipping for 2 seconds then reading the results in 15-60 seconds gives a quick analysis of the water content although they don’t record micro-organisms etc and wild-water collected may still need to be treated via UV or chemical disinfection so the strips are not a substitute for water treatment.

I found the strips to be very sensitive when doing a quick check-test recording the difference between our drinking water straight from the tap and post-filtering. We are using the strips for monitoring our own stream water which goes through a treatment process before drinking but can vary through the year depending on rainfall and current.

For anyone needing to monitor drinking water quality, these provide a quick and easy means of doing so.

I tested my drinking water from the tap and it did some of the results, but some of indicators was quite hard to read. You get quite good quantity, easy to use.

    Easy to use

Having moved into a hard water area, I was interested to find out the quality of water and the effect of filtering so I ordered these drinking water test strips.

You get 100 strips in the pack and they are very easy to use; simply dip it in water for 2 seconds and read the result by using the chart on the pack. The strips are accurate as the result of mine was as expected, showing quite a high hardness but slightly less when filtered. It also showed a lower pH and carbonate when filtered. I was relieved to see that the results of metals and chemicals were zero.

If you’re at all concerned about your water quality, then these test strips will either put your mind at ease or confirm your suspicions. I think they’d be particularly handy to take on holiday to see whether the water is drinkable.

They’re expensive to buy at this quantity, priced at 20.99 (at the time of review) for 100 strips but it’s only 21p per test strip. I would be more inclined to buy a smaller pack at a slightly higher price per strip as I doubt I will use 100 strips before they expire in two years.

Quick and easy to do with interesting and accurate results

You dip the strip in for a couple of seconds and read the results off on the pot or the box. The only downside on the box is that you just have the chemical element and not the full name. So that’s not so good if you don’t know your elements. It’s easier to read off on the box because it’s flat.
My water turned out to be surprisingly pure with an accurate reading of it being hard water. My mother-in-law gets concerned about fluoride in the water. It showed a reading on that. I thought you were going to have to use this up quickly, but they last two years. So if you want to know what really is in your water, this is a reasonable why are finding out.
Because it tells you the pH, It can also double up as a soil tester.

I found these to be very helpful as I could test to give myself the known information I need and wanted to feel safe. As a mother knowing that what I am putting into my body as well as my family’s body was important but I also did not want to spend a ton of money to get information that I was not sure if it would be trust worthy. The easiness of the test was very helpful to me as I am not the type of person who has a ton of time nor do I want to be following complicated instructions that I could possibly mess up. I highly recommend these for everyone so they can have knowledge of what their water contains.

These test strips are very easy to use. Simply dip for a couple of seconds and you can take your reading.

The problem I have is they don’t measure up to the table on the box – it would be much easier to read if the table were the same size as the sticks.

Easy to use but could be better to read

These water test strips are just brilliant. In one minute you can find out the levels of the chemicals in your drinking water, how hard it is, the acidity/alkalinity etc. There’s 100 little strips (like the urine testing strips doctors use) and you just immerse one in a tall glass of tap water for 2 seconds. Don’t shake it. Then hold it flat horizontally for 15-60 seconds, then compare against the colour chart to see your results. (Nitrates take 60 seconds for the result to be complete for reading, the others take just 15 seconds.) Best to lie it horizontally because, I held mine upright when I took it out of the water, and found one or two of the colours run into each other.

The chart shows the ideal range for each element tested, so you can take action if anything is really off. It also gives answers to questions about hardness of water. Not only could it be life saving at the extreme end of the scale (you could test well water or stream water) but it also could explain illness (eg heavy metals) or why your plants aren’t thriving.

This is a fantastic resource and it makes me feel more confident with all the tap water (unboiled) that we drink.

100 strips at the current price of 20 works out at 20p a strip. They last 2 years (tightly close the pot again and keep in cool dark place). So for 2 years peace of mind (or an alert of any problem), it feels like money very well spent for me.

Peace of mind - know what we’re drinking

    Such an insight to water!
I am no expert, testing water is new territory to me.
My family are big water drinkers. I personally have used a filter water bottle for many years, my three cherubs drink tap water in their refillable bottles however my oldest son has become more prone to drinking pre bottled water.
    What an eye opener these wonderful little 16 in 1 drinking water test strips really are . You can see from the photos I tested;

My local tap water (we are fortunate to live in a soft water area)
Filtered water – Squeezed into a glass from my refillable bottle ,
    Pre- bottled supermarket water,
    Cooled boiled water,
The water in our hot tub

Conclusion for me here is, our tap water is nigh on perfect (which is very comforting to know) why am I wasting money on a popular branded water filter and I will show my eldest son the results from the bottled water he has been buying and it will hopefully help him realise our tap water is the better option which in turn should reduce his single use plastic wastage. Win win all round I would say. I hope you have found my independent and honest Vine review helpful and informative. I can most definitely recommend these test strips by SaySummer. My tub has an expiry date of June 29. 2024. Store in a dark and dry place and enjoy the learning experience!

Know what you are putting inside your body!

As soon as it arrived, we checked the quality of the water in the house. We compared it with ready-made water. The result was highly accurate. We have determined that there is something that spoils the taste of the water. We don’t know what to do next 🙂

    I like it.

These test strips for water, come in a sealed drum container.
    100pcs
I used one to test our tap water and it is a little high in chlorine but otherwise ok.
It tastes fine which is the main thing

I doubt I shall ever use 100 of these so I will give them to my son who goes up into the mountains of Scotland most weekends and drinks the spring water there.
    He may find them handy
100 in a pack seems excessive really.
But they are very easy to use. Just dip one of the strips in the water for two seconds and then compare with the diagram.

Recommended, to check tap water if it is tasting a bit off especially. Reassuring to know its safe

We have had some concerns about our water supply for a while, we know we live in a hard water area, but we had other little niggles but didn’t think it was worthy of a water board callout as lord knows how much that would cost us, but now we can perform our own tests and keep logs to monitor over time and so far the results look good nothing seems out of place.

The strips are easy to use and with the chart on the bottle you have easy access to results in seconds and with 100 strips we are good to go for quite a while, and we can even use them in the hot tub as well so that’s an extra benefit.

We were keen to try these out for a number of reasons. The main one was that the whole family drink tap water frequently but that just isn’t possible when we visit my brother, His water is just so unpalatable. At the very least it has to have squash with it but mostly use bottled water. We were interested to see if these might shed some light on what might be ‘flavouring’ it.

We used our own tap water then later some of my brothers. There are precise instructions to follow with regard to timings, not shaking off the water and different timings for checking for nitrates and nitrites.

In reality we put the test strip right next to the chart to compare, whilst for the photos they were next to it. Also the colours might be affected by the photographic process but hopefully demonstrate what these look like. There are two photos for each testing to demonstrate the difference in time for the nitrates / nitrites.

We aren’t scientists but feel these give us a starting point. We will repeat just to see if we get the same findings. Then from here can go on to find more information if there is anything worrying.

Interestingly we found our own water seemed to be have less fluoride than might be expected and my brothers seemed to have more bromide. We will repeat to check we get the same findings.

We now need to do a bit more homework and maybe try my brothers water through a filter and see if that makes a difference. But these strips are a helpful starting point and interesting as not all water is the same.

Whats in the water? Helpful in answering.

You get 100 test strips ins a plastic container within a cardboard box.

This is a 16-in-1 test for just about everything you would want to know about which are : Total Hardness, Free Chlorine, Iron, Copper, Lead, Nitrate, Nitrite, Sodium Chloride, Total Chloride, Fluoride, Cyanuric Acid, Ammonia Chloride, Hydrogen Sulphide, Total Alkalinity, Carbonate and finally the pH (acid/alkalinity).

You first open the plastic container, and inside you need to puncture the foil seal (I removed it completely) so you can access the strips.
You then need to fill a cup or glass with water, that is deep enough to take the full length of the strip.
Then follow these 3 easy steps :
    1) Fully dunk the strip in the water for just 2 seconds
    2) Hold the strip horizontally for 60 seconds
    3) Compare the strip to colour chart on the side of the plastic container to get your results.

On the side of the box it clearly states which factors it tests along with the ideal results you should get.
The chart on the side of the plastic container lists the same factors in the same order, which by the way is the same order on the strip too and the ideal range it outlined by a ‘black box”, making things clear and easy.

I was relieved to find our water was well within all of the parameters, although I will check at least twice a month in the future.

All in all it gives you peace of mind if you suspect your drinking water isn’t what it should be, suck as a strange colour, smell or taste.

    Conclusion :
Good test kit that tests 16 parameters and at a sensible price (costs 12p per test strip with the total cost of the kit being 21.99, as of 4 September 2022) and most importantly it is easy to use, no need for a degree in science.
I have no reason not to trust the results either, so 5 stars from me.

These seem easy to use with both chart on the box and the tube of strips too in case the box gets wet.

The time is just 2 seconds so quick too. I tested tap water against jug filter water and there were several differences. I think I will need to look up what they mean and if worrying but the fact there were differences tells me the strips are detecting differences so are sensitive.

Drinking water test strips, which you can test for 16 additives in water eg. Chlorine, Iron, Copper, Lead, Nitrate, Nitrite, Sodium Chloride, Chloride, Fluoride, Cyanuric Acid, Ammonia Chloride, Hydrogen Sulfide, Alkalinity Levels, Carbonate, including PH Levels . The water testing kits come in a foil sealed container, each have 100 strips, for testing your house water supply, water supply at camp sites, hotels, cruise ships, holiday homes, holiday water supplies abroad etc. also streams whilst you’re trekking, if you need to refill your water bottle, but don’t forget your sterilisation tablets.
The kit comes with a colour chart, so you can compare your stick to the colours on the chart. Some of the colours were a bit difficult to compare, in this instance go for the closest one.
Although the instructions aren’t that clear, in fact there are very few instructions, basically just dip in water, remove and wait 15 minutes and then compare to the chart. You’re basically trying to get the results in the boxes on the chart.
I discovered our drinking water has a high PH value of 9 (alkaline), it should be about 7, which is considered a neutral level, which has confirmed why I don’t like drinking our tap water. UK safe levels are considered between 6.5 and 9.5
A great addition to any holiday, and I’m happy to recommend.

Sometimes the colours are difficult to differentiate.

I found these strips to be precise and very accurate. To test their accuracy, I used two glasses of water, the same size, the same dishwasher cleaned and using the same tap water. The results were exactly the same for both. The only downside to these strips is that the print is slightly smaller on the side of both the box and the tub, but with a bit of moving and lining up, you can clearly see the results. I like the OK box highlighted, to show the not-so-scientific of us, just whereabouts our water should fall, pardon the pun 😉
So, overall, packed hygienically, work well, and are a very useful addition to establishing any adjustments needed in drinking habits.

A handy little water tester, for camping, hiking or just testing the tap water at home.

After moving home I found that I started getting very dry skin particularly my lips and around my mouth, after a recent holiday and no issues I come to realise it must be a water issue as I moved into a hard water area. Using these test strips I was able to determine not only that the water is indeed hard, but also moderate concentrations of other minerals in the water which may have some impact.

The strips were easy to use, however be aware that if you hold them up right the colours do run into each other so the strip has to be placed flat, you can then compare it with the colour chart on the bottle. They are really easy to use other than that and do exactly what they say on the tin.

    Does what it says
