I have just begun lessons in archery, but have yet to invest in my own bow. This makes it very difficult to practice in between sessions. Our trainer recommended using stretch bands, but
I found this gadget online, so searched for a review. There is an online video of an experienced archer trying it out and he seemed reasonably impressed, so I bought one.

It is very good for practicing good form, particularly if you use it in front of the mirror. It is better than using a stretch band, because you can practice getting your hand in the correct position on the bow handle and the tension on the band to your foot makes it feel more like you are lifting a bow, albeit quite a heavy one. I think the strong tension of the bends is also intended to help you develop the muscles you use for archery. (Shortening or lengthening the ‘bow string’ band increases or decreases the draw weight.)

One point: The professional archer said that it was quite a low draw weight, so I believe this makes it good for beginners, but not very experienced archers who have, quite literally, more pulling power!

Anyway, for the price, I am really happy with it. I hope it will allow me to practice the correct moves and make me a better archer. Only time will tell…

Update: You might want to wear a glove on the hand holding the ‘bow’. The elasticated band does thwack you on it! Also, I should have said that it is suitable for both left-handed and right-handed archers.
